8.1.6 is RTM
Oracle 8i Release 2 (8.1.6) for Linux is released to manufacturing internally in Oracle.
Should be available to TechNet very soon.

Hi Jason,
Could your reconcile the difference between your post and the reply to the other 8.1.6 on Linux thread?
Thanks,
Jamie
I spoke to someone today at Oracle who has been testing 8.1.6/Linux. This person said it would be another 10 days - 2 weeks. It is however supposed to be a much more solid release than the previous one. 8.1.5 was rushed to market. Also, apparently Oracle has been holding back a little pending the release of Red Hat Enterpise Edition.

How to Install Windows 8 RTM on a T530 - special tips for NVS5400
Windows 8 RTM may be a finished product, but getting all devices to work on a laptop can be difficult. I hope that this advice saves time for anyone who wishes to try out Windows 8 on a new Thinkpad. Needless to say, what worked for me may not work in your situation, and I recommend staying with Windows 7 if reliability and productivity are your main concerns. Remember that you will need to reinstall Windows 8 when it is officially released, because there is no upgrade path from the Enterprise RTM preview.
1. Image your working installation with Acronis TrueImage or similar tools. These instructions are for a clean install.
2. Before logging off for the last time, be sure that the Wifi and Bluetooth are enabled. If Bluetooth is switched off, Windows 8 will not be able to see it.
3. If you are using Windows 8 64 bit, I recommend switching the BIOS to UEFI only. This seems to make everything easier. UEFI doesn't recognize NTFS, so you must format a USB drive with FAT32 and then simply copy the contents of the Windows 8 ISO over to the USB. For Windows 8 32 bit, leave the legacy boot compatibility enabled.
4. Install from the DVD or USB key. If you are using UEFI, you will have to delete all existing partitions and install on the unallocated space. UEFI requires a GPT partition, which it will create automatically.
Drivers -- the difficult part
Set a system restore point now and another one before installing any new video drivers.
I first installed the Windows 7 Intel chipset driver update. I am not sure this is necessary, but it updates the SATA and USB3 drivers.
I installed the Lenovo power management driver from the Lenovo Windows 8 driver page, and then installed the Power Manager App from the T530 page. It will occasionally crash when opened, but will work well enough to change settings. I also installed the Windows 7 hotkey application, which works in Win8. Likewise, the Windows 7 audio drivers work.
If the Windows 7 Ricoh driver for your laptop doesn't load, try the Windows 8 beta version. One works, the other refuses to load. I'm afraid I don't remember which is which.
I installed the Intel Management adapter 8.1 from the Windows 8 beta page, and it loaded with no problems.
If you don't have a NVS5400, then you should be done. If you do, then you must NOT install the Windows 7 video drivers. They will cause an endless loop on boot. Update the Intel video driver manually if you wish (via device manager). You can run the Win7 driver program, let it extract the contents, and then cancel before it starts the setup program. I am using 9.17.10.2768 for the Intel HD 4000.
I went to the Nvidia site to get the latest Win8 beta NVS5400 (mobile) driver. Choose the ODE version. I am using version 304.79. I installed this (leaving out 3D, which I don't use) and it seems to work perfectly. Photoshop CS5 recognizes it as a valid OpenGL device.It depends on your uses. See > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3321 Windows 8 works properly in Boot Camp, always that your iMac is compatible > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US You can only use the 64-bit Windows 8 edition.
Respecting to your processor, you may want to contact with Apple, as they may have sent you the iMac with a wrong processor -
SCCM 2012 RTM to SP1 Upgrade - Windows ADK 8.1
Hello,
I am after some advice. We have two physical locations containing a single SCCM 2012 primary site server in one location and distribution point server in the other location.
Both servers are also configured as DHCP Servers and DHCP scope options have been configured correctly to allow both DHCP and Windows Deployment Services to co-exist.
OSD was working fine, until I upgraded the primary site server to SCCM 2012 SP1. During the upgrade process, I installed Windows ADK 8.1 which would appear is not supported however no errors were reported during the upgrade process.
Issues I have encountered;
- I can no longer PXE boot with the following error 'PXE-E55: ProxyDHCP service did not reply to request on port 4011'
- The x:\remoteInstall\Boot\Fonts directory is empty suggesting the boots images were not finalised.
- When updating the distribution points with the boot images i get the following error via the wizard;
• The SMS Provider reported an error.: ConfigMgr Error Object:
instance of SMS_ExtendedStatus
• Description = "Failed to insert OSD binaries into the WIM file";
• ErrorCode = 2152205056;
• File = "e:\\nts_sccm_release\\sms\\siteserver\\sdk_provider\\smsprov\\sspbootimagepackage.cpp";
• Line = 4566;
• ObjectInfo = "CSspBootImagePackage::PreRefreshPkgSrcHook";
• Operation = "ExecMethod";
• ParameterInfo = "SMS_BootImagePackage.PackageID=\"UKS0003B\"";
• ProviderName = "WinMgmt";
• StatusCode = 2147749889
SMSPXE.log contains the following errors;
Failed to copy X:\RemoteInstall\SMSTempBootFiles\XXX00014\WINDOWS\Boot\PXE\wdsmgfw.efi to X:\RemoteInstall\SMSBoot\x86\wdsmgfw.efi
InstallBootFilesForImage failed. 0x80070002
Warning: Failed to copy the needed boot binaries from the boot image X:\RemoteInstall\SMSImages\XXX00014\WinPE.XXX00014.wim.
The operation completed successfully. (Error: 00000000; Source: Windows)
Failed adding image X:\RemoteInstall\SMSImages\XXX00014\WinPE.XXX00014.wim. Will Retry..
The system cannot find the file specified. (Error: 80070002; Source: Windows)
Failed to read ADK installation root registry value
I am looking for some advice on the best way to rectify this issue. Options I am considering are as follows, however I am unsure of the outcome should I attempt these;
1 - Upgrade to SCCM 2012 R2 which supports ADK 8.1
2 - Uninstall Windows ADK 8.1, install 8.0
3 - Attempt to restore back to SCCM 2012 RTM using file system backups and SCCM backups.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.Thank you both for your replies and advice
The configMgr 2012 environment is primarily used for OSD, and software updates for Servers only.
I have followed Peter’ advice, and uninstalled WADK 8.1 and installed 8.0 and I am currently investigating errors within the SMSPXE.log, and I have seen other posts elsewhere within these forums
with the same issue with suggested solutions which I shall investigate.
With regards to DHCP on the ConfigMgr site servers – I could not agree with you more.
Unfortunately, my company use a third party DHCP solution which was incapable of supporting PXE-boot for OSD.
We were therefore required to have a separate Microsoft DHCP solution on the site servers to by-pass this issue.
The intention is to upgrade to Configmgr 2012 R2.
My understanding is that there is no direct upgrade process from SCCM 2012 RTM to R2, therefore I have upgraded to SP1 and would prefer all features are working correctly before progressing to R2.
Many thanks again,
Regards,

Hello all,
I am a sysadmin at a 3 campus school, and am trying to extend our AD schema to include Exchange 2013 attributes so that we can configure groups synced to Office 365 using DirSync. However it keeps failing at the same point each time.
I have tried with RTM first, and then CU6, but I keep getting the same error and am unsure how to fix it.
"repadmin /showrepl" says that our 3 DCs are replicating with no issues, and I'm trying to extend the schema using an "Enterprise Admin"/"Schema Admin" account on our schema master DC.
Our domain/forest functional level is Server 2008R2, and we do not have an Exchange server set up already - if that helps.
The PowerShell error is:
PS C:\Users\rbbr\Desktop\Exchange> .\setup /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
Welcome to Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 6 Unattended Setup

File copy complete. Setup will now collect additional information needed for installation.

The schema attribute "CN=ms-DS-GeoCoordinates-Altitude,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=kurnai,DC=lan" does exist in the schema, but I don't know what to do or where to go from here.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.I just tried .\setup /PrepareAD /OrganizationName:kurnaicollege /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms, and got the exact same error as above.
Is there a way to delete the offending schema attributes, or to force its overwrite or something?
EDIT: I am also getting these eventvwr errors when running /PrepareAD, if it helps:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit upgrade to Windows 8 Pro RTM 64bit hangs
I am trying to upgrade Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on a Dell Alienware Aurora R3 desktop PC via DVD to Windows 8 Pro 64bit (RTM) and it freezes on the Windows Splash Screen after the installation and then after the restart. It looks like it has put the PC into
standby mode with the Windows logo frozen on one screen, however I cannot get PC out of 'sleep or hibernate mode' which is what it looks like it's done (flashing yellow Alienware logo).
When it happened the first time I had to manually shut it down and then restart it as the Win8 installation just stalled. After restart it said Windows 8 installation has failed and it successfully rolled back to my instance of Windows 7. I've
tried it again and it's done the same thing.
This is very frustrating as I did a clean install of Windows 8 Pro 64bit (RTM) on my Sony Vaio VGN-Z46GD laptop with no problems.
I have an Alienware Aurora R3 (only 8 months old):
Intel Core i7-2600K
8GB RAM
1.5GB Nvidia GeoForce GTX580Just thought the Win 8 upgrade would be easy so long after launch but I am getting all of the above! I have done the following:-
Disable options: XD-Bit Capability, Intel SpeedStep Technology and Intel
C-state Tech.
http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&docid=586909
Override the current Intel chipset, it appears to be the issue, and run this older one (Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility, v.9.2.0.1015, A00) for now:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/alienware-aurora-r3?driverId=R284186&osCode=W764&fileId=2731115303
also install this: Renesas Integrated USB 3.0, v.2.0.4.0, A00
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/alienware-aurora-r3?driverId=R286402&osCode=W764&fileId=2731116122
Still it won't reboot/come out of sleep - is there no answer from Dell/Microsoft to get this working?

Regards, Peter -
I have successfully installed Windows Vista RTM on my Qosmio F20-155 device. The installation went smooth and everything is fine.
I have the following problems which I suppose are common with everyone else:
- No SD card support
- Waiting for new nVidia card drivers
- Fn keys and media keys don't work
However, something I'm not very sure everyone is experiencing is that absence of sound support. Vista recognized the sound card is "SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio". However, I can't hear any sound from my speakers. I tried forcing another driver (that of Tecra, found on the support site), but Vista would fire a BSOD and die. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with my notebook because the Qosmio player can output sound normally (from outside Windows).
Anyone having the same problem? And do you think the RTM drivers are gonna be late?The driver for Windows Vista seems to be functional :)
As I've seen mentioned somewhere else, I did not have sound on Windows Vista because I installed it while I had the sound muted on Windows XP. When I installed XP MCE on another partition, and un-muted the sound, Windows Vista was able to produce sound properly :) -
Windows 7 RTM x64 Power Manager and switchable graphics not working
Installed Windows 7 RTM x64 on my T400. After windows update and installing Lenovo's drivers, everything is accounted for. ATI graphics works fine, and I can see the Intel graphics on the shortcut menu. I just cannot manually switch to the built-in graphics, nor did I see the Power Manager. What do I need to do? I have installed the drivers for the power management, even though on the list of driver on lenovo's webpage it says it's only for SL models.
Help would be appreciated.

And after that, make sure you have installed the right driver (the one for switchable graphics): http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/WIN7-BETA.html#m8xswitch
Hope that helps.

SharePoint 2013 RTM on Windows Server 2012 R2
Will SharePoint 2013 RTM trial which is available at following link, work on Windows Server 2012 R2?
Or do I need SharePoint 2013 SP1 slipstream?
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-sharepoint-server-2013You need the slipstreamed version. You cannot install RTM on 2012 R2.
(Note: it's not technically slipstreamed but yes, it is the SP1 media that you use and slipstreamed is a commonly misused term for it) -
Office 2013 RTM: STILL no true small caps: WHY? WHY? WHY?
I have just un-installed the Office 2013 Preview, and installed the Office 2013 RTM 60-day trial.
I had hoped that between the two versions, the issue of missing true small caps in Word had been addressed. But no. Whilst Word 2013 supports OpenType ligatures and OpenType stylistic sets and OpenType old-style numbers and and and, it STILL DOES NOT SUPPORT
TRUE SMALL CAPS. Yes, it has a small caps function, but this just reduces the size of the font, instead of using the dedicated small caps letters included in a lot of OpenType fonts. What's the difference? The difference is that with true small caps, the stroke
width of upper case, lower case and small caps letters match, whereas in the cheapy, flimsy, yucky version that Office only offers, the small caps letters are thinner than the normal letters of that font - obviously so, as they are merely shrunken.
Try it for yourself. Type something like "AaMmXx" in an OpenType font with small caps, say, Calibri or Gabriola, at, say, 24pt, in Word 2013 and in Publisher 2013, and apply small caps in each, and print them. Compare the stroke widths. See what I mean?
Publisher does true small caps. Word doesn't.
So, why, Microsoft, why, oh why, oh why, when other typographical features (ligatures, stylistic sets, etc. etc. & so 4th) are supported in Word 2013, are small caps not? I just don't understand it. Why? Are small caps held to be something that only
professional typesetters should be allowed to use with typesetting programs like Publisher, whereas ordinary folk with Word shouldn't? Or is it trick to boost sales of Puiblisher? Or did no-one think about it? What is it? Because it's very annoying!Well, in the second place, inserting characters via Insert Symbol is a pain in the posterior, and, of course, the spell checker doesn't recognise them. But in the first place, that only works if the font author has been thoughtful enough to give the small
caps glyphs Unicode code points, say, in the Private Use Area (like in Calluna). Normally, however, they don't - the small caps glyphs are only accessible via a small caps function, as lacking in Word. Excel is worse - apparently, Microsoft think that OpenType
advanced features ought not to be used in spreadsheets.
So having found fonts with small caps, the only way to use them is to use a font program either to assign the small caps glyphs to PUA code points, or to put them in a separate font (which at least means that other applications and spell checkers can use
them). -
Safari 4 not working with Windows 7 RTM
Hi all,
I'm having an issue with Safari 4 (4.0.3) not working in the Windows 7 RTM build. I'm using the 64 bit build from Technet, and it does not even work when using it in XP compatibility mode. The funny thing is I have not had a problem with running Safari with the 7100 RC build, and other browsers such as IE and Chrome work just fine. Anyone have any ideas, or do I just need to wait for Apple to fix it?See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
Try the repair tip in the third box first.

Server 2012 RTM Remote Desktop Connection Broker Role Won't Install
Hey guys,
I have been searching for and trying fixes for this for 3 days, and I've gotten no where. Thanks in advance for trying to help me out.
Here's the situation:
I have a brand new installation of the Windows Server 2012 Datacenter 64-Bit RTM from MSDN. This is my one and only server (just my personal one for home), so I'm using this single server to run all of the services that I need. After a fresh
installation, I added the AD and DNS roles and promoted the server to the PDC. Then I go to add the Remote Desktop Virtualization Services (the VM virtualization role). The installation fails, but I can't find any explanation as to why.
I've wiped out the OS and reinstalled from scratch at leat 15 times, trying various combinations, fixes, approaches, etc. including powershell, Remote Desktop Services Deployment, standard role-based deployment, etc.
Using the role-based deployment, I can get every 'Remote Desktop Services' component to install except the Remote Desktop Connection Broker. I've tried enabling RDMSUI_TRACING, but didn't get any information at all as to why it's failing. I also
cannot find RDMSDeploymentUI.txt log.
I've also tried to deploy this using Powershell using this command:
New-SessionDeployment [-ConnectionBroker] <string> [-WebAccessServer] <string> [-SessionHost] <string>
That particular item does provide some error messages, but they seem to complain about the Session Host not being able to install due to not being able to find the connection string key in the registry for the Windows Internal Database. However, I can
get the session host and every other component to install using role-based deployment, except the Connection Broker.
I've run an SFC scan, which found no issues. I've also tried applying the one update available in Microsoft Update, and tried it without applying that update (reinstalling between attempts of course).
I'm completely at a loss. Has anyone encountered this before? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Is there a powershell command for just installing the Connection Broker that might provide some additional error information, or any
information at all?
I would greatly appreciate any help anyone could offer. I'm willing to try anything. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Sincerely,
DominickAlso Found this:
1. You try to install the Remote Desktop Connection Broker (RDCB) on a server that also has the Active Directory Domain Server (domain
controller) role installed. This configuration is not supported by Microsoft. You need to install the RDCB on a server that does not have this role installed. See: Remote Desktop Services role cannot co-exist with AD DS role on Windows Server 2012 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2799605
2. If you don’t have the Active Directory Domain Service install, this issue might be caused by the Windows internal database (WID) that
the connection broker installs and the Windows Update KB2821895. If you have KB2821895 installed, unfortunately you can not uninstall this KB. Try to install the Remote Desktop Connection Broker (RDBC) role on a server that does not have this Windows update.
Note: There is currently no official communication from Microsoft that here is an issue with RDBC and KB2821895. However, try the RDBC installation
without this KB and see what happens.

ITunes shuts down Windows 7 RTM during CD conversion
Hi everyone,
I just updated my laptop to Windows 7 RTM (legal copy). I did a clean install. My iTunes library is on a network drive. Things worked fine under Vista, but now whenever I start doing a CD conversion to Apple lossless, sometime during the conversion process, Windows 7 just stops working. Windows doesn't do a normal shutdown, it just basically turns off my laptop (see error message below). I'm running on an HP NW8000 mobile workstation.
The actual shutdown was caused by:
The system was shut down due to a critical thermal event.
Shutdown Time = 2009-08-14T22:39:22.835620800Z
ACPI Thermal Zone = ACPI\ThermalZone\TZ1_
However, as I stated above, the system runs all day until I start a CD conversion, and this never happened under Vista or XP on the same machine, even when running iTunes.
During boot I also get the following error message:
The description for Event ID 0 from source iPod Service cannot be found.
Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local
computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the
component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to
be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
Service started
I don't know if this is realted to the problem I'm having. I wasn't sure at first it was iTunes, but everytime I've started converting a CD, this happens. My computer ran all day until I came home and started a CD conversion.
Any suggestions? Thanks, JackI'm having the exact same problem with my 3GS! I had this problem before and it was caused by videos from another camera. This time it's not the case. I didn't have this problem until the update. I called apple care and wasn't much help at all. They of course blamed it on my PC. So frustrating!! So is the recommendation to delete the photo cache from my PC?

Connecting iPod Shuffle to Windows Vista RTM
Dear all, I'm having problems connection my great iPod Shuffle to my newly installed Windows Vista RTM.
When I connect the iPod it's is shown as a Device. But I cannot copy any files to the device. It "hangs" for a few minutes before it stops with an error message. "Could not actualize to device. Unknown Error (-50).
Any ideas what this could be? Or is iTunes just NOT "Vista Ready" yet?
Thanks
Simon1) Check and see if it will sync under XP compatibility mode (right click the program, not the shortcut> click properties, there will be a compatibility tab). A popup may nag you about changing the compatibility, just ignore it for the time being.
2) Check your USB hardware drivers to have them up to date. Vista is one of the weirdest OS's I've been around lately that uses older (read: not native or "updated") drivers and messes up on them...
3) The iPod service might be misbehaving. You can restart it by going to start> right click my computer>
manage> services and applications> services> click iPod service> click restart service.
4) NT OS's (including Vista) tend to be "closed oriented" on bidirectional hardware access, so make sure you can connect to other devices as well.
So much for the rumored iTunes update with the "colored" shuffles... I guess that's for later... -
Captivate is not compatible with Windows Vista RTM
I can confirm that Captivate 2 is not compatible with Windows
Vista (RTM Final MSDN). I have been testing it on several systems
with various versions of Vista. It had partial success with RC2,
but with RTM it crashes quite frequently (when vista is drawing new
windows). I can't tell however if captivate is directly responsible
or if it is perhaps an incompatible version of Flash (current using
latest version 9 beta) that is to blame. However, since Vista is at
RTM then I would say that it is now the responsibility of Adobe to
fix the compatibility issues with a new update. Technically vista
is not due to domestic market until january 07, however businesses
will be able to purchase vista in only two weeks, and as Captivate
is generally used for business/training use i would certainly think
that it should be of high importance that these issues are
resolved.
Can anyone else comment on their experiences with Captivate
and Vista?Hi cptv8
I appreciate your taking the time to report back your
findings about Vista. Perhaps it will be helpful to those that are
early adopters.
You stated:

You have a valid point. However, you are making it in the
wrong venue. How? Well, Adobe doesn't normally make it a habit of
visiting the peer-to-peer support forums. This means users
supporting users. If you are concerned that Adobe is aware of this
issue, you should really consider using a different channel. The
Wish Form. And you can easily get there by simply
clicking
here.
Now I don't claim to be a guru of anything in particular, but
it seems to me that businesses are very slow to adopt things. They
tend to take a very pragmatic and slow approach. Many are just now
making the leap to XP! So I'm guessing that Vista will be slow to
gain ground. I'm also confident that the Captivate team is well
aware of the Vista issues and will be addressing them as best they
can.
Sincerely... Rick -
Maybe I was to quick to report this as a bug... I was unable to find anything related to it at my normal sources of information. Does someone has exeperience with it?
I have a work-around and this is included in the description :

When a library (.lvlib) that contains a file with a run-time-menu (.rtm) file is removed from the project, but there is still a file that uses this .rtm file, both the .lvlib and all of it's vis and the .rtm file are displayed in the project Dependencies.
For the Vi's the callers can be found by 'Find->calllers'. For the .rtm file this always results in 'No items found' but the .rtm file remains in the Dependencies (as it should since it is still used).
Finding the .rtm file can be hard since it is only loaded at run-time and not at edit time(?). If someone encounters this issue, a working method:
- rename the rtm file (so it cannot be found)
- open the vis that you suspect are using this file AND try to edit the run-time menu. When this vi uses the run-time menu a warning will appear (cannot load rtm file, using default menu instead)
Kind regards,
MarkDear Mr. Beuvink,
thank you for your reply. It seems that a while back this problem has been reported to our R&D group. The request (CAR) has ID; 41579. There is the following statement in this CAR: the caller vi is in memory or not. When a caller vi is in memory, rtm files will currently never report the vi as a caller. This confirms the behavior you are seeing.
I'm sorry to say I don't have a solution at this moment, at this moment they are busy fixing this problem. You can look this up in future release notes by searching on the CAR ID I mentioned.
If you haven any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
