8.1.7.2.1 patch set. (8i server patch set for windows )

Hi,
Please, where may I find the patches for 8.1.7 server to download. I do not have access to metalink. I urgently need these patches.
Thanks

1. If both databases are using the same ORACLE_HOME , then yes you will be need to shut down both databases and patch each one. Youa re patching the Oracle binaries as well as running new versions of catalog/catproc/catrep etc.
2. Not srue about number 2. I don't use the web server piece. My guess would be no since you are using a different version.

I need to migrate to Oracle 10g 64-Bit for Windows and apply the patch set to upgrade to 10.2.0.3, on an Intel-XEON processor server, running Windows 2003 Enterprise 64-Bit.
When I look for the appropriate patch on Metalink, I cannot find a pat for my environment.Metalink has the following info:
    Microsoft Windows 64bit versions:
    =========================================
For Microsoft Windows 64bit, for the AMD64 or EM64T processors:
Use the platform titled: MS Windows x64 (64-bit)
For Microsoft Windows 64bit, for the Intel Itanium processor:
Use the platform titled: MS Windows Itanium (64-bit).
    ==========================================
Can I interpret the above to say, that I can use the MS Windows x64 (64-bit) for my server? I know that I don't have an Intel-Itanium or an AMD64 processor.
The segement "Microsoft Windows 64bit versions comes from note 430449.1 How to find DB patches for MS Windows (x64) versions.
Any help, will be greatly appreciated.

  • I think I did something weird with foundation/server patching

We've built many SP sites over the last 3 years.  We're now moving in to 2013.  most of our sites are 2010.
For the old sites, both myself and my colleagues were just learning on the fly how to deploy and patch.  Over the years we've gained a better understanding of both.
Something I've done though in the past, i don't know how it affects the deployments and I was wondering if someone could shed some light on it.
We used SharePoint server with internet, mostly.  When patching, we saw that there were two sets of patches, foundation and server.
We didn't have a full understanding of both but now do.  They are stand alone products.  However, we though they were component levels of the same installation, and for years we've been applying both the foundation patches, and the server patches
right behind that.  It's worked fine.  We've never received any errors about patching.
Now that I know better, i'm only deploying server patches to the new 2013 deployments.
I was asked to add a 3rd server to one of our old farms.  I ran in to a patching mismatch warning when trying to join the farm.  This made me think about how we patched foundation and server even though we're running server.  One of the warnings
was that those foundation patches were missing.
So I restarted and used the exact same patches and it worked fine.  Still, i'm wondering what the overall impact of our old patching methods has on the product?
My hope is that everything in SP foundation is part of SP server, so the patches I made, assuming the same level of patching, only duplicated patching effort, and there are no technical drawbacks to having patched foundation then server on the same environment.
    Anyone know?

    Hi,
There are some different patches for SharePoint, to better understanding the different patches, I think you can have a look at the following articles which contains the different patches in SharePoint.
Hey! Should I install this SharePoint patch?
    http://www.toddklindt.com/blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=433
For example, the “cumulative” part means if you install the August 2012 CU you don’t need install the June 2012 CU first.
CUs are also cumulative in the sense that the SharePoint Server patch includes the patches for SharePoint Foundation.
The Project Server CU includes the SharePoint Server and SharePoint Foundation patches as well. You only need to install the CU for the product you have.
This is a welcome change from SharePoint 2007 where we had to stack the patches.
Also, CUs contains the patches for all the supported languages which is why they’re so large.
    Thanks,

  • How do I set up different hardware controls for different patches in mainstage?

I'm using Mainstage 3.0.4 and a Novation Impulse.
I created a concert, with the drawbar organ as my first and most important patch. I assigned the hardware controls on the Novation exactly how I wanted them, with the sliders controlling the drawbars, and the rotary controls changing the distortion, reverb, etc. It was perfect. I was happy.
Then I added a new instrument (a new patch, not a new channel or anything like that), a Wurlitzer. Once again I assigned my hardware controllers as I wanted them, and was happy with that.
When I saved the concert, and went back to my organ patch, my settings didn't stay the same, but they still work for the Wurli.
My question is this - do I have to have a new concert for each instrument patch I want to use, if I need to assign different controllers for each patch? This would be stupid! If not, what I am doing wrong, that I can only set up one set of hardware controls per concert, instead of per patch?
Thank you in advance for the help!!!

    Hi

CCTM, thank you! I have a small idea what you mean, but I still can't implement it :-)
    You have some fundamental choices:
    A) If you want to see Drawbar Controls for organ Patches, and then have other types ( knobs/sliders etc) for other Patches, you could simply make all the screen controls you need, then assign and map them as required.
    B) you could simply use drawbar screen controls only and remap them to other parameters for non-organ patches
    C) You could use Smart Controls ( which will update their appearance in a 'smart' way
    D) You could make your own Drawbar type controls using standard faders
The basic process in a 2 part thing:
Assign incoming MIDI messages from your controller to Screen Controls in Layout mode. This is global for concert. Per patch ( or Set or globally for the Concert) you then map the Screen Controls to parameters for each patch as needed.
Smart Control MIDI assignment is done in the Assignments and Mappings pane

    Please help.
    Thanks in advance.

    > First we will do SAP systems merge and when there will be only one DB instance we'll do Oracle upgrade to 11g
And why do you think a merge of application data is dependent on the Oracle patchlevel? I mean those patchlevel are on a technical level, even if you'd use SQL on the lower level it works you don't merge "binaries" but database content, right?
    http://service.sap.com/swcenter-3pmain
    --> Oracle
    --> Oracle 10.2.0.4
    --> Database RDBMS
    --> HP-UX PA-RISC (64-bit)
There you can download the patchset.

  • Quick comparison of patches vs. channel strip vs set vs concert ..????

    howdy
just trying to differentiate between patches - channel strips - sets and concerts -
i will be using mainstage for keysounds triggered by my midi keyboard....drum sound triggered by midi drum i/o .....and hopefully guitar and vox as well -
would each channel strip correspond to an instrument? (drums, keys, guit, vox)
and then each channel has a patch (tone) ??
then whats a set and concert exactly?
im sure this is a noob question, but nonetheless would like an explanation based on anyones personal experience..
my greatest concern is latency, so any info on the proper hierarchy and safe guards (muting patches when they are not processing audio???) to reduce delay would be greatly appreciated
    fro

Concert = the file; it contains everything, sets, patches & channel strips.
Set = a collection of patches & their channel strips. This is an organisational device that allows you to sort patches by various criteria. EG, in one concert, I have two sets with identical guitar channel strips but with a different synth for each set.
Patch = a collection of channel strips. These can be any mixture of audio and synth, eg CS1 guitar, CS2 voice, CS3 synth 1, CS4 synth 2 etc
In addition you may have as many busses as you need.
Now to the confusing part. The hierarchy listed above is a good way to start with MainStage. It is simple and clear.
If you have a channel strip that will not change during a set, it may be more efficient to insert it at the Set level rather than the Patch level. That way, you only have to set it up once. Why would you want to do this when it is so easy to set up a channel strip? just a couple of mouse clicks should suffice.
Inserting a channel strip at Set level means that you only have to set up the MIDI controls for that patch once in the editor. This can save a lot of time if you have a synth with a complex control structure.
I understand that only the active patch in MainStage uses processor power. (If I am wrong, you should get a correction fairly soon.) The only problem I find with large concerts is the length of time it can take for a large concert to load.

  • Oracle 10.2.04 server patch set

where can I find oracle 10.2.0.4 server patch set for Linux 32 bit to download? thanks

Patchsets are always downloaded from Metalink (http://metalink.oracle.com). Assuming, of course, that you have a support contract.
I didn't think 10.2.0.4 was available yet, but perhaps I just missed the memo.

  • I cannot find Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patch Set 2 for windows x64

So maybe i'm stupid, but i've searched metalink every way i can think of to find the patches mentioned in the following preinstall instructions for 11.2.0.2 for windows
"To upgrade Oracle Grid Infrastructure release 11.2.0.1 to Oracle Grid Infrastructure release 11.2.0.2, you must first do at least one of the following:
    * Patch the Oracle Grid Infrastructure release 11.2.0.1 home with the patch 9413827 and patch 9706490.
    * Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patch Set 1 (GI PSU1) or Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patch Set 2 (GI PSU2)."
I've searched in Patches and Updates and https://updates.oracle.com.
I've got a 2 node 11gR2 (11.2.0.1) RAC on Windows 2k8 that i want to patch to 11.2.0.2 before implementing as production. I can find all the Unix flavored patches, but not the Windows Patch.
Feel free to make fun of me for using Windoze or not knowing how to use metalink, whatever you like, as long as you include a url to the Patch I'm looking for.
    thanks
    John

The first thing that i tried was the out-of-place upgrade, which failed 3/4 of the way through. This left me with a circumstance where i couldn't use srvctl to administer my RAC because of version mismatched files. The RAC appeared to be up but administering it was impossible no matter what home i set. I deinstalled 11.2.0.2 grid and the 2nd node of my RAC was broken and couldn't see the ASM instance at all. i actually had to modify the windows registry to get the 2nd node to behave properly.
That's when i read more carefully the installation instructions for the upgrade and came across the text i included.
"To upgrade Oracle Grid Infrastructure release 11.2.0.1 to Oracle Grid Infrastructure release 11.2.0.2, you must first do at least one of the following:
Patch the Oracle Grid Infrastructure release 11.2.0.1 home with the patch 9413827 and patch 9706490.
Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patch Set 1 (GI PSU1) or Oracle Grid Infrastructure Patch Set 2 (GI PSU2).
Adding nodes to a cluster during a rolling upgrade is not supported.#
Oracle Clusterware and Oracle ASM upgrades are always out-of-place upgrades. With Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11g release 2 (11.2), you cannot perform an in-place upgrade of Oracle Clusterware and Oracle ASM to existing homes."
This mentions both the out-of-place upgrade and the need for the intermediate patches to be installed first. I'm not sure what to believe at this point. I read the above instructions as saying the intermediate patches need to be installed BEFORE the out-of-place upgrade would be successful, but i can't say that i understand why that would be the case.
Has someone done a successful upgrade on Windows from 11.2.0.1 directly to 11.2.0.2?
    I appreciate y'all's help.
    thanks,
    JR

  • How to set up Multiple Playback tracks for a "Set" or "Concert"?

Hey Gang...so I'm venturing into MS2(2.2.1) now and have a feeling I just need some help understanding the building blocks.  Here is what I'm trying to do:
I want to set up a concert for solo gigs where I basically will perform saxophone along with backing tracks (audio).  On some tunes I use an EWI, and on others I use different saxes (EQed diff, with diff EFX, so on).  SO, I want to create "patches" for each song, and have that "patch" contain the midi sound (for EWI) or settings for the diff saxes.
Here is the important part:  I also need each individual "patch" to playback a different back-track.
I have started all this with the tune "Summer Madness", and here is the problem:  When I switch to a new "patch", I still get Summer Madness.  If I load a different BT into playback, that track is then "universal" through ALL "patches".  It must be something simple, but what am I missing?  Do I have to create multiple channel strips with the playback plugin loaded (seems awefully designed, and a waste of resources?) and assign DIFFERENT controller buttons (or whatever) to playback different tracks? (again, aweful, and a complete waste of midi controller real estate).
If I have explained all that poorly, my appologies.  I just am hoping MS2 has a way of "auto-loading" a new BT everytime I switch to a new "patch".  I cannot seem to figure this one out.  Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

    Hi
Depending on your needs, you may find that Set level offers the best approach:
Within a Set you have the Playbacks (Set Level, so they work for the entire set) with individual patches in the set "live" for the EWI etc as needed.
You need only map one set of controls for all the Playbacks since only 1 set can run at a time.

  • Want to set up my server at home for simple purposes.

    Hi,
I am an IT student and recently took a course in Windows Servers in which we were to over the duration of the course setup and configure a server using Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise.
I was so excited to get to work with this kind of stuff that I went straight to ebay and bought a used Dell 1U CS24-SC JSD2  with two Quad core Xeon L5420 2.5GHz 12MB L2 Cache 1333Mhz processors, Dell S45 Mother board on intel 5100/ICH9R chipset with
ASPEED AST2000 onboard graphics and 8GB PC2-5300P Ram and two 250GB 7.2K SATA drives with an additinal two blank caddies to fill.
I have run the gauntlet setting it up as a double for the machine I am supposed to be configuring in the lab at school, just to make sure I could do the classroom exercises efficiently. Now that I am done with the course, I would like to put this beast to
work as place to experiment with building web sites, as a source for media and data from remote access. I will soon be taking courses some 40 plus miles from the house which is a bugger of a turn around time of I forget a flash drive. So remote access would
be nice, and to be able to host media throughout my home network consisting of two IMac's, two IPad Air's an MSI netbook running linux Ubuntu and a Dell notebook pc running Windows7  as well as two Apple Tv's.
One of my biggest things is this: I know when setting up the class machine I was required to setup Active Directory Domain Services. Since essentially the Server and the Dell notebook are the only Windows devices on the network, is it necessary to run Active
Directory Domain services to be able to use web server and provide a remote connection? It would be nice to either run a protected site that I can access my data files for school that I built myself, or be able to remote connect to the server and access from
    the web at school.
If I am not mistaken, because of the proprietary nature of both the Windows Software and the Mac OS's, those devices will not communicate properly, also because of the same thing, the linux netbook is probably out of the question because neither Windows
or Mac play well with Linux and the Apple Tv's are just dumb terminals.
I admit I am extremely new and dying to learn more. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

From what I understand you want to build websites and connect to your server remotely... totally possible.  Active directory isn't a requirement for any of that (but you can do it anyways).
Since essentially the Server and the Dell notebook are the only Windows devices on the network, is it necessary to run Active Directory Domain services to be able to use web server and provide a remote connection?
No.  As Rhys mentioned you dont need Active Directory to connect to your home server (or home computer).  To do this you can open and forward ports from the router connected to your modem to your home computer.  The port depends on the software
that you use, like you found 3389 is for Windows Remote Desktop.  There are other tools to do a similar task and may support multiple operating systems, such as VNC.
It would be nice to either run a protected site that I can access my data files for school that I built myself
You can do this.  Again, active directory isn't needed.  On your server install the IIS role.  Then allow port 80 on your router to your server.  Make sure your server is kept up to date with patches, antivirus wouldnt help (MS has a
free one i think for 2008), etc etc.  Then you start building your own sites.
Well.. openning port 80 on your router if you want people (including yourself) outside your home to access the site.  I'd get it working internally first, then subject yourself to the attacks of the world :)
    Happy coding
