    Hello
Like other people, i have a probleme during Oracle instalation.
"Error invoking target ntcontab of makefile /opt/oracle/product/9.2.0.1.0/network/lib/ins_net_client"
Some people propose too modify $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh, but the variable dont be on my file...
So if someone have a solution,
    Thx

Redhat and mandrake are very similar and the same error occurs while installing under RH7.3. Please check this document.
For your specific question, I will post the info you need from the page:
Edit the file $ORACLE_HOME/bin/genclntsh and change the following line (people have sent me emails pointing out that this also works for Mandrake 8.1 and Mandrake 8.2):
    LD_SELF_CONTAINED="-z defs"
    to read:
    LD_SELF_CONTAINED=""

  • Need help on installation of 8.0.5 on rh 6.1 and mandrake 7.0

have anyone successfully installed oracle 8.0.5 on redhat 6.1 or mandrake 7.0? i can only installed on rh6.0.... any idea?

For RH 6.1, I'm guessing you're having problems when it tries to compile/link the Oracle code. This is because Oracle needs a different set of libraries that do not exist on RH 6.1 (glibc). There are RPM's that you need to install on RH 6.1 to get the compile/links to work (About 6 of them). To find these RPM's go to the page where you would download the Oracle Server for Linux. There is a README file for Oracle on RH 6.1 (And other Linux distributions as well). I think this will help.
I currently have Oracle 8.0.5 on RH 6.1 and am having no problems. However, I was running RH 5.2, and then upgraded to 6.1. Therefor I didn't have to deal with the install problems.

  • Cal_linux_9041 install fails on RH WS3,0 and Mandrake 9.2

When attempting to install the client on RH WS3.0 or Mandrake 9.2, I get the following error:
tail: `-1' option is obsolete; use `-n 1'
Try `tail --help' for more information.
    ./cal_linux_904: line 329: [: `)' expected, found -z
I assume this has something to do with the new POSIX threads library.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks!!

I managed to get this working on my Mandrake 9.2 box but, was a bit of a pain. I had to modify the installer to use my pre-existing JVM. At first this failed because editing with vi messed up the binary data at the end of the file, so I switched to a hex editor.
    My steps follow:
    unzip cal_linux_9041.zip
    tar xf cal_linux_9041.tar
    cd OracleCalendar_inst
    export javax=/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_03/bin/java
hexedit cal_linux_904hit tab to edit the text portion (on the right)
    find LAX_NL_CURRENT_VM=jre/bin/java
position your cursor over the "j" in jre and type the following over it:
    $javax
replace the remaining portion with (6) spaces
    ctrl-s to save
    ctrl-c to quit
    whew!
    ./gui_install.shAnyway, this worked for me.
Don't you hate when installers try to be too smart.

The problem I have is that when u boot form the Linux CD, select install, black screen with Video Errors (Incorrect colours, lines etc) Distorted display...
I duno y this is, it can be any of my hardware, all works fine for days at a time playing games and its taken a lot of testing..
Anyway, any help or ideas is appreciated.

    Hi,
    I've a DebianWoody 3.0 on my MSI-6712 KT400 chipset (video card=ATI Radeon 64 DDR VIVO).
I've had no problem installing the system and the X-Server, but it won't load the agpgart module (that provides agp support and so 3d acceleration) by its own.
Woody install the kernel 2.4.18 (the same as Mdk 9, for 8.2 and SUSE, I don't know) and it does not support the new VIA Chipset.
I've solved the problem compiling 2.4.20 kernel from sources, patching it with 2.4.20-rc4 and pathcing again with an agp-patch...
I don't know if it can help you, expecially during the installation ( ;( )... unless you change your linux disto to the ****MAGIC**** Debian   .
    Dario
P.S. if you need the agp-patch tell me, i'll send wherever you wont (it's small!!)... for 2.4.20 and 2.4.20-rc4: http://www.kernel.org

    Hi Ajay,
This question could have saved us all this efforts
Btw, opportunity management is used to capture the potential customers info. It helps to capture the buying pattern, the source from which this opportunity is captured, the probability of winning the order. Also we can maintain the various stages of Oppoprtunity and the activities that need to be performed in each phase. You can also maintain the competitor info in opportunity.
Also if you are using PCUI, the opportunity created in CRM5.0 using PCUI can be created as Sales Quotation in ECC.
The opportunity is not replicated in ECC otherwise.
The opportunity can be then followed up by sales order which can then be replicated into ECC.

  • 8.5.1 install on Mandrake 7.0 (RH 6.1 plus)

I managed to get 8.1.5 installed on a machine with 64 MB ram and Mandrake 7.0, a RedHat 6.1 derivative (2.2.14) and I thought I'd share what things I had to do.
Basically, I used jre116_v5, and ran the runIns.sh script in install/linux instead of the runInstaller script, as many have suggested before. Even with the suggestions that many have suggested, the installer would bail out at random along the install process. Thinking this might be an issue with the limited memory available (even with 256 MB swap), I changed some of the memeory parameters in the runIns.sh script. I reduced the thread stack sizes from 4mb to 3mb, and reduced the initial and max stack sizes as well. The modified jre options are as follows:
    -ss3m -oss3m -ms28m -mx56m
Even with the reductions, the jre took up 140MB according to top, more than twice physical ram. However, the install completed slowly but surely.
I don't know if this was just coincidence or if reducing the memory helped, but the install completed successfully.
I hope this might help someone.

Thansk A LOT! I had tried for almost a week to get that fucking install to work. I don't know why it works, but it has nothing to do with actual RAM, as I have 384 MB and 600 MB swap ...

  • OUI Hangs during Oracle 8i install on Mandrake 7.1

I have gone through all of the instructions I have found on this forum for installing 8i on Linux. I have downloaded and installed the JRE, created the oracle user, added the necessary lines to my .bash_profile, etc.
When I change to the /install/linux directory on my 8i installation cd and try to run ./runInstaller, the initial OUI welcome screen comes up. When I click on the "next" button, nothing happens, and I can't proceed. Has anyone out there experienced this? Any suggestions?

    Which version of oracle ?
It works with oracle 8.1.6 and Mandrake 7.2

  • DHCP from OS X to Mandrake Linux

    Hi,
I have 2 networks, one using a Mandrake Linux ISC DHCP V3.03 Server and the other a Thomson SpeedTouch Router. If I connect any of my OS X machines to the SpeedTouch network they receive DHCP address. If I connect to the Linux Server network they always get an autoconfigure address. I can look at the Linux server log and I can see the DHCP server offering IP addresses to the OS X machine but the addresses are never acknowledged:
Mar 30 00:21:22 gateway dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 00:03:93:ed:d9:96 (merlin) via eth1
Mar 30 00:21:23 gateway dhcpd: DHCPOFFER on 192.168.1.124 to 00:03:93:ed:d9:96 (merlin) via eth1
Mar 30 00:21:30 gateway dhcpd: DHCPDISCOVER from 00:03:93:ed:d9:96 (merlin) via eth1
Mar 30 00:21:30 gateway dhcpd: DHCPOFFER on 192.168.1.124 to 00:03:93:ed:d9:96 (merlin) via eth1
Mar 30 00:21:32 gateway dhcpd: DHCPREQUEST for 192.168.1.66 from 00:03:93:ed:d9:96 via eth1: unknown lease 192.168.1.66.
Everything else in my home from Tivo to CISCO IP phone to windows laptops to Squeezeboxes all happily get addresses from the Linux DHCP server.
I can see discussions on earlier threads about similar problems but could not see a resolution.
    Your help would be appreciated.
    C.

The Mandrake box is connected to another router on a separate ISP line. ETH1 is the only active network interface on the box ETH0 is disconnected. There is no IPTABLES on the Mandrake setup the firewall is handled by the router. DHCP server on router is disabled and Mandrake provides DHCP/DNS for the whole network.
I modified the configuration slightly recently to make the DHCP server Authoritative for the network and to NACK addresses coming from the other network. When I switch from the ROUTER network to the Mandrake network I can now see a NACK being sent for the 192.168.1.64 address.
In desperation I have set my MacBook to DHCP with Static IP address in Network setup and this seems to work, getting the gateway from the DHCP server.

  • IAS on mandrake

I noticed references to SUSE 7.1 in the documentation, is this a
requirement? I prefer to run RedHat or Mandrake distributions
of Linux. RedHat being the current defacto standard and
Mandrake as a slightly improved derivative. SUSE decided to
stray from the path and have done some -ODD- things with the
network layer that I don't like. Has anybody got this running
on RedHat or Mandrake and what was involved?
Also I was goibng to order the 1.0.2.2 media pack for intel
Linux, is this all I need or do I have to get a sperate DB pack
    as well.
    Ta much

    Hi,
I've the same problem. I think it's due to the mandrake 7.1.
Is anyone can confirm it, it's very important for our project.
    Thanks.

  • Linux's and WXP's SJSAS8 installations returning different things.

    Hi all,
I recently installed, in a single computer, SJSAS8 (J2EE1.4 SDK) for Windoze and Linux (XP and Mandrake Linux 10.0). Both are standard installations. Both have JDBC connection pools using MS Sql Server JDBC driver. Both have the same application deployed as EAR file. I expected both to give same results.
The difference shows when retrieving XML through EJBs. While XP returns special characters correctly, Linux returns the '?' sign. I will spend more time trying to find what happens, but I just thought maybe someone else had already encountered and solutioned this behavior.

This may not help much but this seems like a character encoding issue. My guess is the default character encoding on the 2 platforms are different and the default Linux encoding is not properly encoding some of the characters in your XML document, hence the ?'s. Perhaps you could modify the default character encoding on the Linux box to match the windows box and see if that helps. Maybe I'm off base here.
