8.1.7EE certified for which file systems on RedHat 7.1 ?

Hi,
Does anybody know if Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition is certified for
any other file systems than ext2 (and raw) on RedHat 7.1.
Specifically journaling file systems, e.g., ReiserFS, XFS, ext3.
Thanks in advance,
/Leif Klepp

Well I think the problem is at Sun, not at us, but I couldn't figure out how to contact them for this particular problem. I hope they will someday notice this topic and fix the problem or, if we are doing something wrong, say what else requirements we have to meet :).
Best Regards,
Mehmet Ceyran

    In Windows Event long I can see the following events logged:
    Event 3002, Port Map:
      Windows(R) failed a request to register RPC Port Mapper on TCP port 111.  RPC Port Mapper cannot start.
      Network File System (NFS) clients use RPC Port Mapper (also known as Portmap and Rpcbind) to discover NFS protocols on remote servers.  Without RPC Port Mapper, Server for NFS
    cannot start and NFS clients cannot access files on this server.
      Verify that no other software is registered on TCP port 111, then start Server for NFS manually (which will also start RPC Port Mapper).
    Event 7000, Service Control Manager:
    The Server for NFS Open RPC (ONCRPC) Portmapper service failed to start due to the following error:
    A device attached to the system is not functioning.
    Event 7001, Service Control Manager:
    The Server for NFS Driver service depends on the Server for NFS Open RPC (ONCRPC) Portmapper service which failed to start because of the following error:
    A device attached to the system is not functioning.
    Event 7001, Service Control Manager:
    The Server for NFS service depends on the Server for NFS Driver service which failed to start because of the following error:
    The dependency service or group failed to start.
    Based on a technet forum I have already checked and made sure there is no other service running on port 111 (command used is netstat -a -b -o).
    Dependent Service Status:
    During the installation process “Client for NFS” seems to have gone well and the service started successfully. But the “Server for NFS” failed, when checked for the status of the dependent process “portmap” service failed to start with the WIN32_EXIT_CODE
    “31 (0x1f)”. Please find below the query result.

    As the EXIT CODE is 31 ( A device attached to the system is not functioning), I have checked device manager and made sure there is no yellow warning shown against any hardware device. Further I am not sure how to proceed and debug this issue.
    Please let me know if you have any suggestion on how debug this issue further.
    Thanks

    My solution was to run netstat -ano to identify what process was running on port TCP/UDP :111, then with the command tasklist I got PID matching with the task name. Once identified I stopped the process, rebooted and installed
    the NFS service. On top of that, before installing NFS services I disabled firewall and antivirus. It worked fine for me. I hope this will be usefull for you. By the way, don't forget to enable all process back!
    Have a good one!

    Last time I was successful, I was at OS 10.3.5. I use 3rd drive to boot my Mac, then clone the one non-boot drive to the other. I do the disk repairs & permission repairs as the normal course of this process, before & after. I am now at 10.3.9. I am do this clone in prep to go to 10.4 so I have a good back in the event of later problems.
    When I attempt to boot from the newly cloned partition, it goes fine on the boot process until it hangs at the "Waiting for Network File System" step and never gets past there. I've never had this happen before. I retired all the steps, even ran "Diskwarrier", but no change.
    I am not trying to run from a remote or network drive, just a 2nd drive in my
    G4 from which I have previously been able to boot (until this last clone attempt that is).
    I googled the symptoms ""Waiting for Network File System"", found it to be common, but no real answers. Is this one of those annoying UNIX things? Any ideas how to fix / turn-off whatever is hanging the boot up? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Kool,
    So there seems to be a "speed-bump" around 10.3.9. No wonder I have had the same results with a different tint. I went to Drive Genius to clone this one. Results with that were interesting.
    If I did a [Device] clone, it would take and show at start with 'option' key... and work just like my internal with 3 accounts on it... login and proceed like it was internal. If I did a [Volume] clone, it would not show up at start with the 'option' key... I'd have to boot it from System Preferences > Start-up Drive. Once booted, it had no login screen so all the files were accessible. I took the clone of this 3 account PB and tried it on an iBook. Had to boot from System Preferences too, also, all the account were accessible from that machine... implying that anyone who had that drive could get past/into my files that would be secure on my computer, but not on the clone. If I took the [Device] clone and booted from the ibook at start with the option key, it would not get past the login screen... altho the mouse worked and I could click on the name, that was as far as it got, Froze.
    So, I have figured, for safety, a [Device] clone is it, as long as the original computer lives. The safety features for login seem to be hardwired in the chip that the clone was made from (The iBook had 2 accounts but not my 3). If safety is not an issue, the [Volume] clone is fine... like moving to a newer OS on the same computer. It would seem from your experimentations that the situations with this 10.3.9 is just a hick-up and is solved in 10.4.3 with CCC v3...
    Thanks for your info... I am thinking of going to Tiger, but I am so fond of this Panther...

  • Plain user and systemd: dependency failed for local file system

    I tried to switch to systemd, but ended up in a maintenance console (Enter root password or Ctrl-D to continue):
    Enter password.
    journalctl -b as suggested yields "Dependency failed for local file system".
    I couldn't find a systemd troubleshooting page in the Wiki. So, can someone point me to such a page? Anyone willing to give some hints?
    What I did so far: Did what https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Systemd tells one should do to switch to systemd.
    In the boot menu pressed e, moved one down to the line starting with "kernel", pressed e again, and appended init=/bin/systemd.
    Somewhere I read that "mkinitcpio -p linux" should be issued to make systemd work. No (positive) effects.
    Paul
    P.S.: Shouldn't there be a topic "systemd" in "Pacman Upgrades, Packaging & AUR"?

    According to the wiki you are supposed to append init=/usr/lib/systemd/systemd if you are using the "Mixed systemd/sysvinit/initscripts installation" mode.  In all other configurations you should NOT have an init=.... entry since init becomes a symlink to systemd
    As far as I know, the init= entry doesn't hurt anything - it just isn't necessary.
    EDIT: Of course, it will hurt if the path was wrong...
    Also, at least on my system, /bin/systemd symlinks to /usr/lib/systemd/systemd.

  • Plumtree Crawler Web Services for NT File Systems

    Hi,
    I'm working with Corporate portal v5.0.4J. I'm trying to figure out if the 'crawler web services for NT file systems' are build into the portal or whether it is an optional component that needs to be installed?
    Any info is appreciated.

    The Windows Files Content Service is a separate component from the portal. You can download this component from the Product Center.

  • Which File System should I use?

    Which is the best file system to use on a drive, baring in mind the following requirements:
    * Read AND write compatibility on both Mac & Windows systems.
    * Individual file sizes will often exceed 4GB (ruling out the FAT file systems).
    * The drive is connected via USB (160GB).
    Any help appreciated

    Read and write compatibility out of the box is only possible with FAT32.
    But your second request rules that one out.
    What I would do in this case is to use NTFS as file system (read+write in Windows) and use/buy Paragons NTFS for OSX http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntfs-mac/ for full access to NTFS from OSX.
    In my opinion it is a far more stable solution than using MacDrive in Windows for full access to OSX (HFS+) partitions.
    Hope it helps

  • Df error for lofs file system in local zone.

    I 've a zone which is running oracle db instance. We have exported the SAN file system from the global zone as following
    fs:
    dir: /oradb
    special: /oradb
    raw not specified
    type: lofs
    options: []
    from global zone
    #df -h | grep oradb
    /dev/dsk/emcpower174c 17G 5.1G 11G 31% /oradb/archa
    /dev/dsk/emcpower177c 58G 3.3G 54G 6% /oradb/index1
    /dev/dsk/emcpower172c 9.9G 610M 9.2G 7% /oradb/redob
    /dev/dsk/emcpower176c 58G 30G 27G 53% /oradb/index2
    /dev/dsk/emcpower180c 58G 35G 23G 61% /oradb/data1
    Problem is from local zone if i do cd to /oradb/data1 and then df -h . , i get following error Is there anyway i get the usage or df o/p of lofs file system from the local zone itself
    local_zone# df -h .
    df: Could not find mount point for .
    local_zone # pwd
    /orad/data1
    local_zone# df -h /oradbdb/data1
    df: Could not find mount point for /oradbdb/data1
    local_zone#

    Do you have amount point within the zone path for these oradb mounts?
    You have to add a directory entry for /oradb in the zone's root directory, i.e. ``zone_path''/root/oradb

  • Help! what is the default location for shared file system?

    Help! i came in this morning and for some bizarre reason the shard file system information had disappeared and podcast producer wouldn't work i thought it was in library/quicktimestreaming/movies so i set it to there but when i try and submit a video i just get question-marks in the post where the video should be its obviously not finding it. So i found where most of the previous videos were which is a folder called Podcast Producer which seems to be a link to my external drive but when i set the shared file system to this folder it creates a new folder called podcasts and sticks them in there so i get the same question-mark scenario. Its bizarre i can't figure out why it would losse the information in server admin the only thing i can think of is that i did a repair permissions and wondered if it might have set some permission on the shared filesystem folder differently and made it somehow inaccessible does anybody know what permissions should be set on the folder? Also regarding quicktime streaming does this location have to be the same as the shared file system folder?
    Message was edited by: purplemonkey1

    Thanks - The folder was hidden, so once I changed my options to see hidden files, I was able to find it exactly where the link told me it would be.
    Much appreciated!

  • How do I identify the latest file modifications, application install, and registry key modification for Security Forensics.... using GP Audit for registry/file system

    Hello,
    Title pretty much states it all. I initially set out (as part of a Security Forensics initiative) to identify the most recently installed applications, modified files, and registry key changes using PowerShell. I attempted to pull this information and sort
    them by date installed/last modified, but it was brought to my attention this information isn't always present and can be modified - so it's not accurate.
    At that time it was suggested we use Group Policy auditing for Registry and File System -  but I'm not sure how I'm going to use/pull these in PowerShell? This will be used on remote host all over the world so local physical access isn't an option.
    My question is:
    Once Group Policy Auditing for Registry and File System has been enabled, how would I go about pulling those audit logs for review once a system has been identified as compromised? I'm brand new to this GP Auditing (we have a separate team for that) so feel
    free to take it from the beginning. :)
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    Here are a few suggestions for you:
    Ensure Remote Registry service is started on local and remote machines.
    Add the – Credential option and supply administrative credentials within the command.

  • Change ZFS root dataset name for root file system

    Hi all
    A quick one.
    I accepted the default ZFS root dataset name for the root file system during Solaris 10 installation.
    Can I change it to another name afterward without reinstalling the OS? For example,
    zfs rename rpool/ROOT/s10s_u6wos_07b rpool/ROOT/`hostname`
    zfs rename rpool/ROOT/s10s_u6wos_07b/var rpool/ROOT/`hostname`/var
    Thank you.

    Renaming the root pool is not recommended.

  • Best practices for ZFS file systems when using live upgrade?

    I would like feedback on how to layout the ZFS file system to deal with files that are constantly changing during the Live Upgrade process. For the rest of this post, lets assume I am building a very active FreeRadius server with log files that are constantly updating and must be preserved in any boot environment during the LU process.
    Here is the ZFS layout I have come up with (swap, home, etc omitted):
    NAME                                USED  AVAIL  REFER  MOUNTPOINT
    rpool                              11.0G  52.0G    94K  /rpool
    rpool/ROOT                         4.80G  52.0G    18K  legacy
    rpool/ROOT/boot1                   4.80G  52.0G  4.28G  /
    rpool/ROOT/boot1/zones-root         534M  52.0G    20K  /zones-root
    rpool/ROOT/boot1/zones-root/zone1   534M  52.0G   534M  /zones-root/zone1
    rpool/zone-data                      37K  52.0G    19K  /zones-data
    rpool/zone-data/zone1-runtime        18K  52.0G    18K  /zones-data/zone1-runtimeThere are 2 key components here:
    1) The ROOT file system - This stores the / file systems of the local and global zones.
    2) The zone-data file system - This stores the data that will be changing within the local zones.
    Here is the configuration for the zone itself:
    <zone name="zone1" zonepath="/zones-root/zone1" autoboot="true" bootargs="-m verbose">
      <inherited-pkg-dir directory="/lib"/>
      <inherited-pkg-dir directory="/platform"/>
      <inherited-pkg-dir directory="/sbin"/>
      <inherited-pkg-dir directory="/usr"/>
      <filesystem special="/zones-data/zone1-runtime" directory="/runtime" type="lofs"/>
      <network address="192.168.0.1" physical="e1000g0"/>
    </zone>The key components here are:
    1) The local zone / is shared in the same file system as global zone /
    2) The /runtime file system in the local zone is stored outside of the global rpool/ROOT file system in order to maintain data that changes across the live upgrade boot environments.
    The system (local and global zone) will operate like this:
    The global zone is used to manage zones only.
    Application software that has constantly changing data will be installed in the /runtime directory within the local zone. For example, FreeRadius will be installed in: /runtime/freeradius
    During a live upgrade the / file system in both the local and global zones will get updated, while /runtime is mounted untouched in whatever boot environment that is loaded.
    Does this make sense? Is there a better way to accomplish what I am looking for? This this setup going to cause any problems?
    What I would really like is to not have to worry about any of this and just install the application software where ever the software supplier sets it defaults to. It would be great if this system somehow magically knows to leave my changing data alone across boot environments.
    Thanks in advance for your feedback!

    Hello "jemurray".
    Have you read this document? (page 198)
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-7013?l=en
    Then the solution is:
    01.- Create an alternate boot enviroment
    a.- In a new rpool
    b.- In the same rpool
    02.- Upgrade this new enviroment
    03.- Then I've seen that you have the "radious-zone" in a sparse zone (it's that right??) so, when you update the alternate boot enviroment you will (at the same time) upgrading the "radious-zone".
    This maybe sound easy but you should be carefull, please try this in a development enviroment
    Good luck

  • Ocfs2 can not mount the ocfs2 file system on RedHat AS v4 Update 1

    Hi there,
    I installed ocfs2-2.6.9-11.0.0.10.3.EL-1.0.4-1.i686.rpm onto RedHat linux AS v4 update 1. Installation looks OK. And configure ocfs2 (At this stage i only added 1 node in the cluster), load and start accordingly. Then paritition the disk and mkfs.ocfs2 the partition. Everything seems OK.
    [root@node1 init.d]# ./o2cb status
    Module "configfs": Loaded
    Filesystem "configfs": Mounted
    Module "ocfs2_nodemanager": Loaded
    Module "ocfs2_dlm": Loaded
    Module "ocfs2_dlmfs": Loaded
    Filesystem "ocfs2_dlmfs": Mounted
    Checking cluster ocfs2: Online
    Checking heartbeat: Not active
    But here you can check if the partition is there:
    [root@node1 init.d]# fsck.ocfs2 /dev/hda12
    Checking OCFS2 filesystem in /dev/hda12:
    label: oracle
    uuid: 27 74 a6 70 32 ad 4f 77 bf 55 8e 3a 87 78 ea cb
    number of blocks: 612464
    bytes per block: 4096
    number of clusters: 76558
    bytes per cluster: 32768
    max slots: 2
    /dev/hda12 is clean. It will be checked after 20 additional mounts.
    However, mount -t ocfs2 /dev/hda12 just does not work.
    [root@node1 oracle]# mount -t ocfs2 /dev/hda12 /oradata/m10g
    mount.ocfs2: No such device while mounting /dev/hda12 on /oradata/m10g
    [root@node1 oracle]# mount -L oracle
    mount: no such partition found
    Looks like mount just can not see the ocfs2 partition somehow.
    I cannot find much info in metalink and anywhere else, does anyone here come across this issue before?
    Regards,
    Eric

    I have been having a similar problem.
    However, when I applied your fix I ended up with another problem:
    (20765,0):ocfs2_initialize_osb:1179 max_slots for this device: 4
    (20765,0):ocfs2_fill_local_node_info:851 I am node 0
    (20765,0):dlm_request_join:756 ERROR: status = -107
    (20765,0):dlm_try_to_join_domain:906 ERROR: status = -107
    (20765,0):dlm_join_domain:1151 ERROR: status = -107
    (20765,0):dlm_register_domain:1330 ERROR: status = -107
    (20765,0):ocfs2_dlm_init:1771 ERROR: status = -12
    (20765,0):ocfs2_mount_volume:912 ERROR: status = -12
    ocfs2: Unmounting device (253,7) on (node 0)
    Now the odd thing about this bit of log output (/var/log/messages)
    is the fact that this is only a 2 node cluster and only one node has
    currently mounted the file system in question. Now, I am running
    the multipath drivers with my qla2xxx drivers under SLES9-R2.
    However, at worst that should only double everything
    (2 nodes x 2 paths through the SAN).
    How can I get more low level information on what is consuming
    the node slots in ocfs2? How can I force it to "disconnect" nodes
    and recover/cleanup node slots?

  • Creation and Modification dates for android file system

    Hello all, I am working on a project and i noticed a particular scenario where i'm getting an error everytime i try to run the code below on my android device;
                    var file:File=File.applicationDirectory.resolvePath("amf.js");
                    var modDate:Date;
                    var createDate:Date;
                     if(file.exists)
                            try
                                       modDate=file.modificationDate;
                                       credDate=file.creationDate;
                                       trace("Modification date: "+ modDate.toString()+"\nCreation date: "+credDate.toString());
                             catch(e:Error)
                                      trace(e.message+": Somehow android OS CANNOT READ mODIFICATRION AND CREATING DATES FOR FILES");
    Every time i run this on Adobe AIR's Mobile emulator, the correct dates are show up properly(Possibly because the emulator is running on Windows) but when i switch the debug to the device, the statement in the catch block executes. The real error says "Error #3003: File or directory does not exist."
    Am i missing something or is this a normal behaviour which i have to find a work around for? The modificationDate and the creationDate are all properties of the FileReference class which i didnt use to instanciate the file object because i wasnt uploading or downloading anything.
    Any form of tip will be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    I run into the same problem while working on some sort of file synching task.
    Trying to read the file.modificationDate or creationDate results in an error: "Error #3003: File or directory does not exist."
    I have obeserved that this only happens for files that were packaged with the app (and placed in the File.applicationDirectory).
    Files that my app has downloaded and saved to the device (File.applicationStorageDirectory) do have a valid creation date and modification date.
    Maybe the File.applicationDirectory has different rights?
    Does anybody have a solution or workaround for this?

  • Receiver server for Receiver file system

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a scenario where the data from SAP system goes to XI through ABAP proxy and has to write the data in the file.
    My Question...
    In the Integration directory my sender system is ABAP Proxy and receiver system is File adapter.
    When I try to create a distribution channel of type XI adapter, I cannot select it as sender. By default it comes as receiver. How Do I go about doin this scenario.
    Also, since I have to write to a file, it is my receiver(outbound adapter). Please can anyone tell me what would be the service definition for this as I am writing to a directory!!!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Sam,
    Your query actually pertains to XI. Please post it in the Exchange Infrastructure forum.
    Kind regards,
    Markus
