8.1 not forward compatible..

I was surprised that the CC2014.1 (8.1) update is one that is not forward compatible project wise with CC2014.
I cant recall a 'dot version' previously that has not been forward compatible. ( I may be wrong)
If its not forward compatible ...it certainly wont be backward compatible if one hits an issue and an update over writes the previous version!!!!
Unlike CC7 to CC2014 - different versions.
Adobe also may or maybe not be aware that ...a little thing like this has implications on how many in manage their NLE systems, Projects and processes.
For myself.. as a fall back...I have always kept all Projects in a Root Folder that references the PPRO version. eg CS 5, CS5.5, CS6, CS7, CC2014... now CC2014.1 !!!!
My Project back ups relate to those as well.

You're correct that it's highly unusual to increment the project version for a dot release. We were aware that this would be a problem for some users, and the decision was not made lightly. It was necessary because several of the new features required changes to the project file that would have prevented projects from working in 2014.0 or 2014.0.1. I think the following were among those features:
enhancements to Masking and Tracking
increasing max Scale from 600% to 10,000% (go wild!)
Marker colors
Native GoPro/CineForm support.
Option to write clip markers to project rather than clip.

Vector shapes not backwards compatible?

I work in an office where some people are on differnt versions of Photoshop while I am using CC. When I create vector objects and save them in a file they sometimes show up as all black in older versions of photoshop. Is there a process that I can use that will get around this issue? These files are passed back and forth and I understand that I may loose the ability to use some of the newer features with CC in order to avoid issues. But I need to use the vector options on a daily basis.
I see another issue that people are running into that I also deal with alot and that is the crop tool adjustments. When you use the crop tool it sometimes makes the vectors all out of wack.

You have your compatibilities backwards. Older versions are not forward compatible for newer features are not in older versions of Photoshop so compatibility is not possible. Newer versions of Photoshop for the most part are backwards compatible with older versions of Photoshop. However Adobe drops the ball at times. Since CS4 Photoshop is not fully backwards compatible in fact Photoshop CS4 and newer are not fully compatible with themselves. There are bugs and compatibility issues with options in the adjustment panels fly-out menu. Option in it can change Photoshop default operation which not only makes it not backwards compatible they make some feature in the current version work in an inconsistent manner. The code implementing these options are not without their bug. Photoshop does not always operate the way the options are set.

The Bluetooth low energy protocol is not backward compatible with classic Bluetooth protocol. My iPhone 4s can not find my sonny in-dash player. However my iPhone 3GS does it. Very disappointed with this. Any idea how it can be fixed???

You are correct, Blue tooth low engergy, BTLE.(only) devices are not backward compatible with Classic bluetooth and cannot connect.
However the Apple 4S and above have Bluetooth 4.0 support.. Hardware wise it has bothClassic Bluetooth, like the 3GS, as well as Bluetooth Low Energy. There is no good reason why your 4s cannot communicate to your Sony in-dash player using the Classic bluetooth that resides in the 4S.
I know that this does not answer the why it does not work, but it should work. Do you have to somehow re-pair the new phone up to the player? Not knowing the model of the Sony it is hard to investigate.
And I hate to ask but are you sure that the Bluetooth radio is on in the phone?

The 4.0.1 and 5.0 are two separate versions as installing 4.0.1 over 5.0 will just give you the old 4.0.1 as the end result.
The 5.0 is partially as a security update in place of 4.0.2.
The Skype extension was only for to make it so you can dial phone numbers on a web page in the separate Skype program right so if you were not using it then no need for the Skype extension for the separate Skype application to work.

It sounds like you restored from an old back-up. Did you back-up just before your software update? It will use your last one and if your last back-up was a ywear old then it will use that one.
In general, if you are getting these messages on your iPhones select logout (when you get that Apple Id request) and then log back in with your newer ID.

I can not forward calls. I go to call forwarding, turn it on, copy and paste my phone number into the correct field (including the international dialling code).

Yes, a blocked call will go immediately to your voice mail.
If you would rather not have that behavior, ask your cellular carrier if you can block that person through the carrier.

Call of Duty Ghosts/ battlefield 4 Freeze; NVIDIA 331.65 driver: this driver could not find compatible graphics hardware

I've bought Call of duty Ghosts.. it require 6 GB ram, so i upgraded mine from 4 GB to 8 GB. Now i can run the game, after 2 sec, it freezes. So i tried to download NVIDIA 331.65 which says to be the solution. And then it says"this driver could not find compatible graphics hardware". So i couldnt download NVIDIA 331.65 ....
Any idea?

There's an important distinction you need to make on NVIDIA's web site to get the "right" driver.
NVIDIA's driver finder has separate categories for the desktop and mobile variants.
You don't specify the computer model in question, so I'm going to throw in a guess that you have a notebook. If this is so, or you have one of the iMacs or Mac minis with the 9400 MCP, then it's really a 9400M (the M standing for mobile), in which case you need the GeForce 9M drivers.
If installing these yields the same error, then the drivers can be modified so that they will install properly. Google "nvidia mobile driver modder" if you wish to try. I cannot, however, guarantee the results of such hacks even as I know they exist.

Method parameter & variable in program - "is not type compatible"

Sorry for my dummy question but by checking a few threads I couldn't find answer.
I have a method with a paramter and calling it I get error message:
"variable" is not type-compatible with formal parameter "parameter"
'variable' --> data element: 'zchar2' (CHAR 2)
'parameter' --> data element: 'zchar10' (CHAR 10)
It's clear that 'zchar2' and 'zchar10' are different.
What is not clear to me why cannot I import a 2 character string into a parameter of 10 characters.
There's no error if I change the parameter's type from 'zchar10' to 'c' in the method. However I don't want this since the parameter must have 10 characters or less (and no more).
How can I define the parameter in the method properly (I don't want to manipulate 'variable')? What is the solution?

I want to import char2 from program (from where the method is called) into the method via a char10 parameter (export / import depends on from which point we see it).
CALL METHOD dummy=>dummy
EXPORTING parameter (remark: char10) = variable (remark: char2).

HTML5 Courses still not fully compatible on iPad or iPhone

Hi,
I've created several courses in Captivate 7, and using the HTML5 tracker, I've made sure all the elements in the courses are HTML5 supported. After publishing the courses and putting them in the LMS, I've tried using them on my iPhone and iPad, and I keep getting a warning message (all the courses work fine on my Mac). The message says:
"This course is not fully compatible with your current device. You may encounter problems with some lessons."
I can open the courses fine, and can navigate through them, but I'm not sure what parts are not compatible. I found one video that's not working, and it seems that the quiz questions aren't working. Otherwise, they seem to be functioning fine.
Any ideas or insight would be appreciated!

Can you tell me what the "ini" file is? The warning seems legitimate because the quiz questions aren't working on the iPad or the iPhone. So it seems like more than an automatic error message.
