Charged $150 for "FREE Professional Installation"

I just (as in today) signed up for the HD Preferred Plus XF Triple Play online which clearly states FREE Professional Installation. Fifteen minutes ago I got a confirmation email with a cost breakdown that included One-Time Installation Charges of $150. I called immediately and was told I would receive a credit for this amount, but I wanted to post here for posterity because I'll believe it when I see it. If you ordered and saw FREE installation, check your account and make sure you weren't charged. Will update this thread when I see (or don't see) the credit.

John is correct on this. The one-time charge you're referring to is a Deposit. Package you signed up for is coming with a free install.

Error in B1DE during creation of a professional installer (VS2005/SAP2005)

Hi, few weeks ago, I created a professional installer for my add-on with the B1DE for SAP 2004. Now, I have to create exactly the same professional instaler for SAP 2005 (and VS2005), but I have some problems.
First: When I execute the 'VB B1 AddOnInstaller Setup .NET' wizard, enter all required information and press 'Finish', I always have the same messagebox error:
"Cannot add the link because the source file '.../relase/setup.msi' cannot be found"
When I press OK, the installer project is shown, but no setup has been created. If I manualy add the setup and add my addon in the 'Application Folder' section of 'File System', the UI and DI API dependecies are not detected, is it normal is Vs 2005 ?

Hi ESAKKI, I read your post and I can now install and uninstall my add-on, thanks !
However, at the end of the uninstallation. I've got this error:
"Unhandled exception at 0x774d2108 inmsiexec.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000"
I know that is not very helpful, but it's the only info I can give. Anyone know why I have that error or know how haven't it ?

B1DE Professional Installer Problem on win 2008 srv

Hi all, I found a problem in the B1DE 2.1 Professional Installer, B1 8.8.
In some machine with win2008 server installed, you need to run B1 as Administrator, and the Setup fails because Custom Actions runs as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM instead as the logged user
So:
1) SubMain in the Installer project creates the registry Key under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAP Manage\SAP Business One\InstallAddOn\MyPartner\MyAddOn key, as the logged user. In this key SubMain stores two path separated by the u201C|u201C character.
2) CustomInstallerClass is executed at the end of the setup, try to read the previous written key but as NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM user, and obviously fails to read because HKEY_CURRENT_USER key is different than HKEY_CURRENT_USER at step 1)
3) You have an error u201DIndex out of Rangeu201D because the CustomInstallerClass try to split the readed string and to return the second path, but the readed string is an empty string
I modified the CustomInstallerClass to search other keys (e.g. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{6048236A-956D-498D-A6F1-9C81C13AB6E8}\8.8\0\win32) if the requested key was not found, but this is a dirty solution I donu2019t like much.
Any other Ideas?

Hi Marco,
Just my two cents worth but I never use the 'Professional' installer due to issues with getting it to install on terminal services. I always use the more primitive project (called 'SAP B1 AddonInstaller .NET Wizard') . The installer screens do look a bit ugly (though with the source code you can of course invest the time to make it look more professional). I've never had issues with this installer as long as I've compiled for a x86 target CPU.

Why do I need professional installation if only upgrading from U100 to U200?

Why do I need professional installation if only upgrading from U100 to U200? Isn't this done remotely? And even if I need new equipment, why isn't there a self-install option?

I don't see why you need someone to come out. I assume U100 is the same as U-Family which means you have a DVR already.
Doesn't make sense to me either.
I would recommend that you send a Private Message to the AT&TCustomerCare customer service team. They will reply back with a PM (blue envelope in the top right of the page). Their normal business hours are from 7am to 10pm Central Time.
See what they say.

I had Boot Camp set up and working on my Macbook for almost a year but had to remove it and start again, so I can't understand why all of a sudden it can't seem to load any Windows DVD's? I even tried my Windows 7 Home Premium disc but again, the same message keeps popping up that I need to insert my installation disc and wait a few seconds for it to be recognised
Can someone pretty, pretty, possibly please help me out here in some way?

B1DE Professional Installer Problems

I have created an installer solution using the wizard once and it worked, but after I've deleted it and trying use the wizard again, I'm getting the same error every time: "cannot add link because the \setup.exe doesn't exist". I think I'm doing something wrong, yet the wizard is so simple...
it seems that the wizard is trying to add the setup.exe as a resource to the main project and it fails, since the setup project is not complied yet (this is just what i think happens...)
Anyhow, the 'regular' installation wizard does work.
And another question. I want to creating user tables, fields and objects upon add-on installation, since the add-on uses these tables, fields and objects. Is there's a best-known method for that? It seems that the installer is already 'talking' to the SBO client, yet it doesn't 'know' which company is currently in use in the client. I guess I would have to insert code that would connect to SBO UI and DI as I do in my addon, to add the user tables, fields and objects by code.

Hi Avi,
Have you checked if your Setup project is compiled and an exe generated in the bin directory? If you have the setup.exe generated please check if the case of setup.exe is the same one in the main project. If not just remove the setup.exe from the main project and add it one more time pointing to yours (don't forget to set its properties as Embedded resource).
But if you have any problem with the professional you can use the simple one as you sai.
Regarding UDTs the Setup doesn't create them and it doesn't connect neither to B1 during the setup. Usually the tables creation is done the first time the addon runs, the addon will check it everytime it is started to avoid problems.

It was so nice of you all to post your suggestions! But one thing you forgot me to ask is, "Are you using a China's Manufactured USB Bluetooth Device?"
Yes! I'm using a china's manufactured device which is available here for $.070 (Rs. 70) in Pakistan. This for no doubt, comes without a disc of drivers.
Error was only found with "Samsung GTS DUOS" so, I sold that out and bought NOKIA which is working excellent with that adapter.
To some extent, one this is confusing me! The device was working fine / works fine till now without any other error in Windows XP SP3 (Pirated) (Oops I'm using Student Pack by Microsoft Corporation).

You aren't likely to find it for free. That is an older version, so if you can find it for sale, it shouldn't be too expensive, but it will probably not be supported by the manufacturer or the people you buy it from, and buying it from anyone but the manufacturer is chancy. The latest version is Flash CS4, and if you are looking for something free, you likely don't want to afford buying that.

Crystal Report XI Professional Installation on Windows 7 - will not launch

I installed CR XI on a Windows 7 platform with IE8. After the installation - . I go to program u2013 click on program u201CCrystal Reports XIu201D and the program never comes up. Nothing comes up, not an error, not a page...nothing.

Moved to Report Design Forum.
CR XI is not supported on windows 7. Search and you'll find ways to upgrade to CR XI R2 Service Pack 6 for free and then you are supported.
DEP and other MS security is blocking CR from running. If you don't upgrade you have to disable DEP completely.

Visio 200 Professional installation failure

I recently tried to install Visio 2000 under Windows 7. The installation process reported no errors. It didn't prompt me for a serial number, and I thought that was odd, but I haven't had to install Visio for a long time, so I wasn't certain it was a sign
of trouble.
When the installer was done, it said it had to reboot my computer to finish the installation. I told it to go ahead. After the reboot, there was no Visio icon on the desktop. No Visio entry in the start menu. No Visio directory in Program Files. The installer
appears to have gone through the motions of installing Visio without actually doing anything.
What happened? How can I correct it?

According to Windows 7 Compatibility Center, Microsoft Visio 2000 is incompatible with Windows 7. Visio 2003 with Service Pack 3 and above are compatible with Windows 7.
If your run Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise, you can try installing Visio 2000 in
Windows XP Mode.
If you don't want to use Windows XP mode or don't have an eligible Windows 7 edition; then you have two options:
1. Upgrade to Visio 2003 or later (version 2003 is not available now I think; maybe Visio 2010).
2. Carry on with Visio 2000, and getting it to work with Windows 7 - will take some time and there is no guarantee that in the end it will work (probably won't work if you have Windows 7 64-bit and should work on 32-bit edition; but that's my own guess).
If you want to choose the second option; the first step is try installing in Compatibility mode.
Right-click the installer executable (probably setup.exe) > Properties > Compatibility tab > Select the checkbox "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and set it to Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
ALSO, on the Compatibility tab, select/tick the checkbox "Run this program as an administrator". Click OK and run the Setup again.

Family Sharing prevents installs of "FREE" apps.. why?!?

So I just started using family sharing from my account to my families apple ID's.. previously all apps were purchased under my ID.
Just got a new iPhone 6 for my lady, set it up under her apple ID which is part of my new family share.
Went to install several of the "Free" apps I had downloaded before.. and was denied.
Seems there are a bunch of "free" apps that don't have the family sharing bit twittled to on.
I have to actually go to a computer, launch iTunes under my wife's account, "purchase" the free app.. and only then can I install it on the new phone.
This seems silly.. the apps are free.. why not just make free apps family sharable by default?

I, too, just discovered this. I have several free apps like Twitter and Facebook. Under iOS 8 I became the administrator for my family of 5 to share apps.
Now, not only can my family members not download these free apps, but there is no way via the iPhone to buy or gift these apps so that the can be downloaded on any of my family members' devices.
I will try the iTunes work-around but this is a very big hassle (with regard to managing apps).
Hopefully it is a design oversight and not a legitimate restriction.
