8.2.1.6 crashes on Edit Preferences w/Vista Dell Inspiron
*Everything in iTunes seems to work except when I use Edit>Preferences and then it crashes every single time. I tried downloading it from the website with security off and it does the same thing. I thought about uninstalling it, but will we lose our library if we do that? I waited to update until last week because I have often had problems if I DL the first update offered, so I thought I'd wait to see if the bugs got worked out this time. I have not DL'd the new Safari...could that have an effect? Thanks in advance for any help!*
I don't know the answer to this but you could try deleting the preference files so that itunes has to create new ones.
The preference files are called iTunesPrefs.xml
For Vista the files are in:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes

Illustrator CC 17.1.0 running on MacBook Pro i7 OSX 10.9.5 - crashes when editing preferences, user interface. Also crashes when quitting application. Anybody any ideas?
While 2 GB is the absolute minimum to install Mavericks, if you want to do anything with the Mac you need more then that. Upgrade your RAM.
Until you upgrade the RAM seriously consider shutting down the Mac nightly. You should also seriously review the items in the User Login Items to see if there are any there that you really don't need to have startup with your login to reduce the amount of RAM you are using. -
PSE 6 crashes at Edit/Preferences menu
applications hangs up when selecting preferences
The application hangs on selecting the Edit->Preferences from the Organizer or the Editor?
If its from the Organizer it may be due to a TWAIN driver, try the following:
Delete or rename the .ds files located at C:\Windows\Twain_32. Launch PSE and see if it still hangs.
Your scanner may stop working on deleting/renaming the .ds file. You can install the drivers for the scanner from net to get the scanner working again.

CS3 Bridge Crashes when I open Edit Preferences
I am running PhotoShop CS3 Bridge V2.1.1.9 under Win XP Pro SP2 and when I launch Bridge and open Edit > Preferences Bridge immediately crashes with the "Adobe Bridge has encountered a problem and needs to close". Bridge was running fine. I assume I must have corrupted a file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ed BI tried holding the ctrl buttom, the preferences reset, or any other window, would not launch. i tried the cnrl/shift/alt buttons, this did not work. i tried launching from quick start button, from the explorer exe, and still not able to get this to work. i even tried a few weeks back to uninstall and reinstall, but did not seem to work, i gave up until need it open now...
are there any other tricks anyone has had luck with to get the preferences window to work? -
Clicking on Edit- Preferences crashes Bridge CS3 - V2.1.1.9
Clicking on Edit->Preferences crashes Bridge CS3 - V2.1.1.9
I've tried repairing the installation with PS setup, renaming the preferences file, changing startup folder, clearing cache, and 1 or 2 other things I can't remember.
Once I click on Edit->Preferences Bridge stops working; I never see the preferences dialog window.
I have no idea what the cause is, one moment it was working, the next it wasn't. I hadn't changed any preferences for a while, so the change causing the problem could have been awhile ago.
Thanks!Sergei - I just tried opening Bridge by holding down the Ctrl key while double clicking on the QuickLaunch Icon for Bridge. Works just fine, I get the reset window instantly. Bridge does not appear at all. I have to choose Cancel on reset window for Bridge to load. Using Ctrl+Shift+Alt works exactly the same, but takes more finger dexterity. This 3 key sequence was standard with CS2 I understand.
Clicking on Bridge in the Recently Accessed Programs List while holding down Ctrl key also works as described above.
Since you experience something different, it just re-enforces the concept that Bridge acts differently depending on how it is installed, and what is installed on a person's computer.
FYI - the CS3 I have on my computer has never had any other version of PhotoShop on it, so there is no chance of accessing fragments of previous versions. From posts I have seen upgraded versions can cause different responses to the same procedures if all traces of the old program are not overwritten with the new install. -
Elements 12 organizer crashes and say it has to close when I click on edit, preferences, general. Also, the text displayed on the organizer screen (such as the menu bar and the folder list in the sidebar) are so tiny I almost need a magnifying glass to read the words. How can I enlarge the font of the text? What do I need to do to resolve the oraganizer crashing and closing problem?

The Premiere Elements 12 Help PDF
http://help.adobe.com/archive/en/premiere-elements/12/premiere-elements_reference.pdf
You cannot import Premiere Elements Windows project files (prel) into a Mac version and vice versa. That I am sure on.
Files with the Mac preferred .mov and .mp4 should be expected to import.
The rest that you mention are probably under the should import but may need conversion, like mpg to mov.
But you need to make the distinction between files that will not import because of file properties versus how you
are importing the files into the project. What happens if you transfer some copies of your media stored to the external drive
to wherever one saves video to in Mac and then try to import the media into the project from there.
More later.

PS elements 6 crashes while editing
While using the clone tool PS keeps crashing every few minutes. I do save my work, but am consuming an inordinate amount of time editing a photo. Can anyone provide some assistance. I am using a Dell Inspiron 6000 with Windows XP w/service pack 2, 2GB RAM, 1.6 Ghz Pentium processor.
Thank youPeter,
You might try deleting the Editors preferences and, if that doesnt work, reinstalling with anti-virus and other services temporarily disabled. See steps 4 and 9 in Adobes troubleshooting document:

Photoshop CS5 x64 crashing while editing layer styles
Hey there,
I searched and seeked through the whole interweb, but hardly anyone seems to have ever had such a problem, so I am guessing this is the right place to ask and hopefully be helped . Short version is: Photoshop CS5 (x64) is constantly crashing when editing a layer style.
I recently installed my CS5 Design Premium on a new laptop (Fujitsu Lifebook AH351) and am having severe problems with Photoshop CS5. On first run everything was fine, and it kept that way for a while. Now everytime I try to edit a layer style Photoshop crashes immediately. I do not need to alter anything, just open the layer style, press OK and Photoshop is gone. I can workaround by resetting preferences which works until next reboot, no matter if I change ANYTHING on the settings or not. Had tried this on the initial PS release and on the latest update (12.0.4). Once I reset settings again, I can work on layer styles again. Did anyone of you have a similar problem or a hint at what I might look?
The Lifebook has a decent feature which I suspect to somehow be the culprit of this case: it has an onboard graphics unit and a separate GPU (nVidia GForce GT 525M) which can be added in on a program-to-program basis. Photoshop indeed recognizes it and lets me activate OpenGL features as well, so from that point it seems fine. The internal GPU cannot be disabled since you connect your monitors to it.
Some data about my system:
Fujitsu Lifebook AH531
Intel® Core™ i5-2410M
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 1333 MHz
750 GB SATA HDD 5400 U/Min
Windows 7 Home Premium x64 (up to date)
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 525M with 1GB VRAM
Photoshop CS5 x64
no plugins in use/installed
no settings changed, not even shortcuts
Thanks in advance
enoversumFunny replying to myself repeatedly. It seems I have found the problem with no solution in sight. My findings are as follows:
I am running two external monitors on my laptop (HDMI and VGA), the laptop screen is off. If I unplug one screen, Photoshop is fine with me. No crashes.
In nVidia settings you can choose what GPU is being used for specific programs. Changing it to the internal one, Photoshop is fine with me. No crashes. Crappy performance.
I came to the idea of it having to do with dual monitors in my long way through help forums, and one thread here (on problems with 4 monitors) suggested to disable the ScriptingSupport.8li via re-naming which didn't work for me nonetheless. Now it seems up to me whether I'd love to farewell either my powerful GPU or my second monitor for working with Photoshop.
Still, does anybody have a notion of what else I could possibly do? I won't assume Fujitsu to offer a fix for this, since it is hard to track down precisely where the problem comes from.
All the best
enoversum
Edit: BTW, Windows settings confirm both screens are handled by/connected to the internal GPU, no matter what Photoshop is using ultimately. That seems like normal behaviour, and I cannot switch since the two ports are on the internal card. -
CS4 crash on 'Edit with' how to solve?
I have a strange problem. Right-clicking on a image resulted in the beach ball of death om Mac OS X.
I traced it back to the option 'Edit with', if I choose this on the Edit menu in the menubar the same hang occurs.
Now in another user account it is OK.
So, first thing to test: delete preferences.
This didn't help at all: same crash with Edit with.
So I gues somewhere there is another preference or setting that is corrupted, the list with programs to edit a image.
But where is it, how or what do I have to delete...?
Help!I face a problem in Implementing the "Edit with" menu Item.
When I select one link in the Links panel and right click over it, I don't get any applications listed.
Can Any one guide me where I need to call the API GetEditOriginalEditorList
currently I am doing the below in LinkResource Handler::CanEditResource().
AppInfoList appList;
UIDRef LinkSelectedInLayout = Utils<ILinksUIUtils>()->GetSingleLinkUIDRefSelectedInLayout();
if(LinkSelectedInLayout.GetUID() != kInvalidUID){
InterfacePtr<ILink> SelectedLink(LinkSelectedInLayout,UseDefaultIID());
if(SelectedLink){
//UIDRef linkResourceRef(::GetDataBase(SelectedLink),SelectedLink->GetResource());
Utils<ILinksUIUtils>()->GetEditOriginalEditorList(appList,SelectedLink);
//Utils<ILinkUtils>()->GetEditorList(linkResourceRef,appList,kFalse);
Any Guide will be a great help

Captivate Crashes When Editing Question Pool
Captivate v5.5
I have a project with 36 questions in a question pool.
I need to edit some the these QP questions but as soon as I start doing this I get the message that Captivate has encountered an error...very sorry...and must close down. I have tried it three times and it does it every time.
I have edited QP questions many times before without this problem.
I am not working via company network but I have just moved locations from one part of my office to another, in case this means anything.
Can anyone offer any suggestions. I am happy to provide any more details if required.
NoelHi Noel,
Can you let me know if the current location of your project is on any server or network?
Also, Launch Captivate beofre editing the Project, go to Edit --Preferences -- General-- Check the Option to Generate Project Backup.
Do one more test, create another project adn impor the Question pool of this project there -- File--Import --Question pool.
Try editing it fisrt in this dummy project, if it allows, try again on the main project.
If it still crashes, try copying all your slides excluding Quiz Result Slide to this project.
Thanks,

Why won't itunes let me "Edit" Preferences?
It all started because I needed to reset my preferences so that I would consolidate all my items in one folder and back up itunes.
I click on "Edit-Preferences" and itunes won't open the next box - crashes the program....restart over and over again...nothing...any ideas what caused this?It is possible that you have a corrupt preference file. If you remove your preference files iTunes will create new ones with default values.
The following link tell you how to do this under user specific troubleshooting. It is for vista/windows 7, there is a link on the page to Windows XP.

Illustrator crashes when updating preferences
Hi guys!
I need your help. For two days my Illustrator CS4 has been crashing systematically when trying to access the Preferences, either by clicking on the button on the control panel, or by Edit > Preferences.
By crashing I mean the Preference window is not opening, and I can't click anywere, no keyboard shortcuts, can't do anything. Windows does not detect the crash and Illustrator stays open...
Needless to say that's really annoying as I need to change Smart Guides and other preferences. I need to finish this project!
It's Illustrator CS4 14.0.0 on a Dell XPS 1330 and Windows XP SP3.
Does it ever happen to you? Any ideas how I might fix it without reinstalling everything?
Many thanks,
Cheers,
AntoineOn Win XP, should be here:
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS3 Settings
Or try moving the folder. For instructions on how to do that, follow this link:

I just installed iTunes on my computer, where I already have all my music. I went to Edit > Preferences > Advanced, and changed the iTunes Media Folder Location to where I have all my music, in the "Local Disk." But iTunes wont import all my music. Help?
Have you looked in the Music App on your iPhone? On the iPhone music is played by the Music App not iTunes.

In iTunes on my windows 7 PC, in the Edit/Preferences dropdown window,some of the tab windows are not large enough to see all options that are available. The borders of the window cannot be draged larger. As a result, I can not uncheck or check some box's on several of the preferences pages. The Apple people at the store did not help. I have lownloaded the latest version of iTunes and this is still an issue. HELP.
Is there really nobody else with this problem? Really?
