8.2/4th-gen iPad cannot make phone calls

Hi,
i can use my IMac to make calls on my 6+ no problem. My iPad, however, does not work. I have FaceTime and iCloud signed in and cell calls option turned on. On the iPad, I see a phone icon now on Contacts.  When I tap it, it brings up the 'dialing in progress' screen, but it fails after 5-8 seconds with 'iPhone not on WiFi network' error.  I am on my WiFi network.  I can stream via AirPlay from both iPhone and iPad to my Apple TV no problem.
I have a 4th-gen iPad (AT&T) running 8.2. I've never tried this with the iPad before, so I'm not sure if this is an 8.2 issue or not.
Any ideas?

    ... sounds very much like " cellular signal dead spot " OR "radio frequency interference"
    Test this by noting exactly where in your house that this takes place and also where it does NOT. Repeat until you have a "Map" of the good and bad spots.
    You cannot do much about the cellular signal but may be able to troubleshoot the interference problem. This document talks about Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but the "Sources" might also apply to your cellular signal problem - radio waves are radio waves.

    The same thing is happening with my wife's iPhone 4 and we can't figure it out. When placing a call, the screen freezes and she needs to restart the entire phone.
    She upgraded to 5.01 this morning over the air while it was plugged in. Immediately afterwards, this problem started happening. We've tried restarting the phone several times and plugged in to iTunes but there's nothing she can do do to fix it.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Wi-Fi calling is only available on T-Mobile. The setting can be found in Settings -> Phone, should you have T-Mobile. Otherwise, Wi-Fi calling is off.

    try a reset, hold down the home/power button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

    Is the wifi card a build in in ipod/ipad? yet build in on SIM card in iphone?

    But on WiFi, could I still use Skype to make a phone call? I have a camera adapter for the iPhone 4 and would just use it as a camera and to play music after I upgrade to a later versionof iPhone. Am I correct in assuming that I could still do everything except connect through 3G?

    Since one week (about), I cannot make any phone calls. I have plenty of credit, and my connection is ok.
    My skype version is 4.3.0.37 under ubuntu 12.04.
    I tried calling FR, UK and US numbers without success. The phone keeps ringing (skype tone) and never connects. After a moment skype says that the phone call failed.
    I tried disabling the "Caller ID" service, but didn't help.
    Please help me to solve this..

    Skype is aware of continuing problems with the website when contacting their customer service agents.  If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented.
    Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent.  If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also block reaching an agent.

  • Palm tero 680 cannot find network, cannot make phone call

    Yesterday when I was making a phone call to my aunt using my palm tero 680, my aunt suddenly couldnt hear me even though I can hear her, so I hang up. I don’t know whats wrong, so I switched it off and restarted, then the phone says “network search" at the top but never finds it.  
    Then I tried to restart a couple of times, at first sometimes it can find the CMCC but I cant not make or receive calls, and whats worse, I can not go online...and from this afternoon to now, but when i restart, it never find the "network"...
     I tried hard reset, but still no luck.
    I put another SIM card to my palm, no luck, so i believe it should be the problem of the phone rather than the SIM card

  • Cannot Make Phone Calls

    The Droid X can do so many things that making a phone call should be the least of my concerns.  However, since it is a phone, I like to use it that way sometimes.
    The problem is that very often when I place a call, it goes through, but there is no sound - at my end or the receiving person's end.  Their phone will ring, but they don't hear me, and I don't hear them.  I don't hear the phone ring at my end, so I have to look at the screen to see what is going on.  I will see, for example:  "Connected"  with the seconds ticking away.
    This happens almost every day.  If I shut the phone down and restart - which takes several minutes, I can usually (but not always) get it to work.  In the meantime, the person I am trying to call is wondering what is going on.
    Any ideas what is going on here?

    Sometimes these issues are not phone related, but are network issues.  Call Verizon and let them know what is happening and they can check the network for connection and transmit/receive issues.  Turning on an off gets you a re-connection to a cell tower and may result in a new port(?) that is not defective(?). I've had these problems before and they have mostly been cell network issues and rarely phone problems.  Be sure and tell Verizon the numbers and location of the other parties too in case its a Verizon to other network provider crossover issue.

    Hello, below are some tips that may assist
    1. Reboot iPhone - Hold down home button & sleep/wake button. Once you see a silver apple logo let go. Perform calls.
    2. Reset Network Settings - Settings - General - Reset - Reset Network Settings - Confirm - iPhone will reboot. Perform calls
    3. Toggle Airplane Mode ON for 1 min, Settings - Airplane Mode ON 1 min, then OFF, Perform calls
    4. Turn 3G off, Settings - General - Network - 3G off, Perform calls on EDGE
    *If calls work on EDGE this could be 1. 3G network outage or work going on in area. Drive around to another town or area of the city. And see if you experience the same thing again
    *Possible 3G Chip HW failure. Contact Apple for more info and troubleshooting
    *Possible SIM card issue. May need a SIM card replacement
    *Contact cell provider and speak to their data support group. Data account and voice may need to be looked at and re-checked to ensure nothing changed on their end after software update.
    5. Restore again, But this time restore as new iPhone if you restored from backup last time.

    When starting out Siri worked fine in dialing up contacts.  Now, for some reason, cannot connect.  Recognizes the contacts -- but says she cannot connect.  I don't get it.

    This is a problem of Siri not being able to connect to the Apple server to interpret what you've said. Essentially, everything you tell Siri is sent to Apple servers, which then replies to the phone with the command. If Siri says: "Sorry, I'm having trouble connecting..." it's not that she's having trouble connecting your call it's that she's having trouble connecting to Apple to know what you have asked it to do. 
    This will happen occasionally, especially on 3G (at least, that's what I've found).  Just give it a second and try again or dial your call directly.

    You were not able to call some numbers because mobile numbers are only included into Unlimited World subscription in some countries. Unfortunately, the mobile numbers you tried to call arent  included. You can see the full list of numbers on http://www.skype.com/en/rates/ after selecting the country you wish to call to and opening the details of the selected subscription.

    If you purchase the same subscription again it will only extend it, it doesn't add more minutes to your account.
    If you have Ghana 120minutes then no matter how many times you purchase it within 30 days you still have only 120minutes during this 30 days.
