How to turn off 8.3 from downloading all email messages

I Noticed that iOS 8.3 changed my comcast email from a POP3 mail account to an IMAP email account. What that meant for me is that it downloaded all the emails on the comcast server, and when I would delete an email from my iPad or iPhone it would delete that same email from all my devices using a comcast IMAP email, and it would delete it from the comcast server automatically.
If you're like me I like to move all my emails to my Mac from the Comcast server. The problem with IMAP email is whatever you do on your computer, iPad, iPhone and Comcast server is carried out by all the devices. So once it gets deleted it's deleted across all devices. I don't like that.
You can trick iOS 8.3 to letting you set up your email manually. What you need to do if IMAP is your problem is:
•delete that email account from your device.

How to download all emails from IMAP servers to a single inbox in local folders

I would like to have all incoming emails from my account(s) at IMAP server(s) (not POP) to be always downloaded to a single INBOX in my Local folders (all emails to be stored on my computer permanently); Thunderbird 31.5.0. Thanks, Peter.

I had to reinstall W7 in June 2014. When I did, I didn't download T'bird again--waiting for issues not related to T'bird to get fixed. I just used the web email since I was mostly getting news letter, etc.. Now I need it to write personal email. OK, I downloaded T'Bird today and , well it configures automatically actually, BUT I cannot stop it from downloading mail between June and present. . (that have already read on web mail).
HOW can I get it to stop downloading 245 old emails? I do know I can get a completely new email as was shown at first email. but I didn't know anything about that and needed to get going writing personal emails?? Help!

It is because it was a clean install for T'bird these emails are all new.
When you start using your old profile T'bird wil only get the new emails.
Your old profile should still be there and you can view the folder if you make invisible folders visible.

How to make Outlook 2013 automatically download all emails?

I have four IMAP email accounts. Currently, my Outlook 2013 only shows new emails when I navigate to the folder they are in. For example, if I navigate to my work email inbox, it suddenly fills with new emails.
Previously, in Outlook 2010, this would be automatically downloaded and the inbox would be refreshed to show a new email. How can I make this happen in Outlook 2013?

Please check your settings:
FILE-> Options-> Advanced -> Send and receive, check "Send immediately when connected"
Also, you could set advanced option throught clicking "Send/Receive..."

Ipad and exchange 2003 downloads all email every time and is very slow. We get "no sender" dated 1/1/70 during process.

Ipad has become very slow to sync with exchange 2003. suspect IOS releases have IPad beyond older exchange software but need to understand why sync email is so slow and seems to re-download entire mailbox every time sync runs. i have two iPads running different mail, one is my work gmail, one my personal mail. Upgraded my personal mini iPad to iOS 7.1.2 and started getting emails dated 1/1/1970, no sender no content coming I daily, the disappear after a few seconds.
on my other work iPad I haven't upgraded yet am still on iOS 7 but it stopped syncing my email on Friday. I generated a new google password and entered it and when my mail came in there were many emails dated 1/1/1970 with no sender or content, again they disappeared a few seconds later.

If you network operator supports it, I suggest that you try to enable the automatic time update function in the phone.
Menu > Organizer > Clock > Options > Settings > Automatic time update.
See if that might solve the problem.
If you still are having problems with this or if this is not supported by your network operator I think this will have to be checked at a repair center.

I need to download all my emails from an html server account and archve them on my PC. How?

I have a paid email account on Spamcop, which will be shut down in a few days. I want to download all my emails, inbox and sent-mail, to my PC and archive them -- before deleting them from the server. I currently have a "mirror" of the server in Thunderbird; but I don't want to lose any of those emails when I clean off the server.
What do I need to do to accomplish this?
PS: I'm a new user who hasn't had a PC-based email client for at least 8 years.

Move all messages to your 'Local Folders' account. You can create folders underneath 'Local Folders' to mirror any folder structure you may have on the server.
To move messages to Local Folders:
Select the messages to be moved on the server.
Right-click the selected messages - choose 'Copy To'
Select 'Local Folders' as destination.
Once the messages have been successfully copied to your disk you can delete them on the server.

I use a microdost exchange 2010 in my office. I just bought a macbook pro and try to syn my office mail. While it has been set up properlly and it has started downloading some of my older emails, it is taking very long and does not download all the mails especially the new ones. The ones it has downloaded take a long time to load and open.
I bought the laptop to use it on the go. What is the solution? Please help.

Startup your Mac while holding down the Option key. That should prompt the Startup Manager window where you can select the startup disk then click Restart.
If the startup disk is not available from that window, you may be able to repair the disk.

Go to Mail Preferences>Accounts, click the '+' button below the list of accounts and insert the settings, username and password as instructed. Some account types can be set up automatically as soon as Mail knows the emails address (because the server settings are built in), in other cases you will have to get them from your ISP.

My iPhone 5 suddenly started re-downloading all previously deleted emails from my POP accounts

Yesterday, my iPhone 5 started re-downloading all previously deleted emails from my POP email accounts. I use the native Mail app and have three POP emails set up on my phone. The number of messages downloaded across all of them is over 1,000 so far and date back over several months. One of these is a Yahoo account, the others are work email accounts provided by two different hosting companies. I have not changed anything on any of these three accounts at the server/hosting level. I also run an IMAP account on my phone, which has not been affected, so this is obviously a POP-only issue. I started to delete the messages only to discover that older messages were downloaded in their place. There appears to be a cap of 250 messages downloaded at a time, but there's no way to change this in the phone's settings (this used to be a feature, but disappeared some time ago).
I'm on iOS8.3 (upgraded a month ago with no affect on email). I have not changed any of my phone's email settings, so I don't understand why this has happened out of the blue. I have checked the phone's email settings and there doesn't seem to be a way to limit the number of messages downloaded.
Does anyone know:
a. why this has happened, and
b. how I get it to stop?

Oh my gosh I had the EXACT same problem, and for ages I couldn't figure out how to fix it until today. Here's what I did:
First I went onto my computer, opened itunes, and un-installed tumblr, vine and kik. These were the apps I was having problems with (it said I had them on my phone but, like you, they didn't show).
Then I went to the itunes store, searched for each one, and it said I could update them so I did (just FYI: for tumblr a window popped up saying "please click ok to confirm you are 17 years or older", so I did that also)
When I went back to my phone and tried installing them again (still on my computer), it worked!

Try going to the web based site and see if you can set up a temporary folder there. Move anything you don't want to download to that folder.

IMAP is not downloading all the Incoming emails fully in outlook 2013.

I have configured IMAP in outlook 2013.Earlier,we are using POP account and now our email account are configured as IMAP in outlook 2013.
After configured IMAP in outlook 2013,it starts downloading all the mails like Inbox,sent emails etc.But IMAP has not downloaded all the Inbox (incoming)emails.
I have checked in emails server,there are 4,189 inbox emails but IMAP has downloaded only 2000 inbox emails only.
The same i have checked in email server for sent items.In email server there are 1,755 sent emails but IMAP downloaded sent emails only 1000 emails.
Please let me know why IMAP has not downloading all the Incoming mails fully & the sent mails fully.

Just try to remove the recent update that has been pushed out by Microsfot to Outlook 2013 and Office 365 users. You can do this by following given steps:
Step 1: Open your start menu and click visit your Control Panel.
Step 2: Click Programs and Features.
Step 3: Click View Installed updates.
Step 4: Locate either the KB2837618 or KB2837643 and remove them.
Disable the "Show only subcribed folders" option in Outlook.
Step 1: Right click the name of your account with the issue, then click the IMAP folders link.
Step 2: Outlook will open a box with IMAP folders. There is a checkbox that says, "When displaying hierarchy in Outlook, show the subcribed folders." Uncheck that box.
Step 3: Force sending/receiving within Outlook and everything should synchronize up properly.
Changing the root folder path
Visit your Account Settings, then Advanced for the mail account that you are having trouble with. This can be located at one of the following:
Go to Change Account>More Settings>Advanced Tab
File > Account Settings > Account settings > Change... > More Settings... > Advanced
Step 1: In the Folders option, look for "Root Folder Path" and enter "INBOX" (with all caps).
Step 2: Save your setting and force a Send/Receive

Yosemite Download conflict with Chrome and all email attachments

Since downloading Yosemite to my 2009 iMac, when pressing insert attachment using Google, Outlook or Yahoo mail, the dropdown menu of files won't close and blocks the email send button. I have to shut down Google chrome and then reopen it and log back into my email draft. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Ive noticed this too and find it to be inconsistent even. I have not figured out the pattern, but sometimes mail automatically downloads all the attachments. Most of the time though it only pulls the first one.

Wow, just posting and it seems that there is a solution that is working for me...
What I've did is I turned off iTunes Match on my iPhone, then turned in on again. Now in my iTunes library on my mac I can get the duplicates to be matched or uploaded to iCloud with a right-click, add to iCloud. iTunes Match starts to check the songs and everything is done correctly. Pretty nice!
