8/7/2012 - Flash Player 11.4 Beta 2

This beta release provides access to the Flash Player 11.4 runtime for Windows and Mac OS desktop environments. The key features and benefits of Flash Player 11.4 are:
Concurrency (ActionScript Workers) — This feature enable developers to off-load certain tasks like high-latency operations and long-running computations to “workers”. These background workers run concurrently in order to leverage more machine resources and avoid things like UI freezes and allow content to be more responsive.
Stage3D constrained mode — A new parameter to Context3D has been introduced called "constrained profile".  Constrained profile allows Stage3D content to run hardware accelerated on more hardware, especially the Intel GMA chipsets. The Starling framework has been updated to be constrained mode ready.
StageVideo.attachCamera — Provides webcam support for StageVideo. This allows developers to leverage GPU acceleration to render webcam video streams.
Camera.copyToByteArray/Camera.copyToVector — Allow efficient copy of the video frames pixels to an existing ByteArray or Vector.
LZMA support for ByteArray — In addition to zlib compression of ByteArray, we are introducing an additional compression type based on LZMA to compress data inside a ByteArray through ByteArray.compress() and ByteArray.uncompress().
In addition to new features, we continue to address stability and performance issues with Flash Player.  We would like to recommend that everyone that installs the beta releases opts into the automatic updates.  We will be delivering regular updates via the update service during the week, some of these releases will be exclusive to this service.  Please see this post for more details:  8/6/2012 - Flash Player 11.4 Beta Updates

  • 8/6/2012 - Flash Player 11.4 Beta Updates

    Starting this past weekend, users that have Flash Player 11.4 beta 1 installed are now receiving regular updates via the Flash Player update service!
    We would like to encourage everyone interested in using and testing the upcoming release of 11.4 to take a minute and install the current beta on labs.adobe.com.  When installing, please make sure you select "Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)" to ensure you receive the latest updates which we will make available over the coming days and weeks.
    For more information, please see this blog post:
    Background Updates are here for Flash Player 11.4 Beta!! Yes, for Beta!!

    Hi Matt,
    Sorry I hadn't gotten back to you.  I just searched through my email and couldn't find anything from you except a post back on the 20th of December regarding a crash when watching Flash video.  This was around the time we take our winter break though and I've been out of the office a large percentage of the time since so it's possible it slipped though the cracks.
    If you have the crash dump still, I'd definitely be interested in taking a look ([email protected]).  I'm glad to hear you were able to work around the issue, though I do admit I'm not sure why setting a fixed page size should matter to Flash.  I would imagine you might run into other application crashes if this was just a memory issue.
    Chris

  • 5/4/2012 - Flash Player 11.3 Beta 3

    This beta release provides access to the Flash Player 11.3 runtime for Windows, Mac OS and Linux desktop environments. The key features and benefits of Flash Player 11.3 are:
    Full screen keyboard input — This feature enables support for all keyboard keys available to an embedded SWF running inside of a page without full screen mode( except for  ‘Esc’). It allows developers to determine if the app is in full screen, whether full keyboard input is allowed, and whether the app is able to request full screen (determined by the embed tag parameter).
    Low latency audio support for streaming audio through NetStream — This feature aims to reduce latency for high quality streaming audio playback. It addresses a very special use case of cloud gaming, where the game is rendered at a server and audio and video are streamed to the client.
    Protected Mode for Firefox — Flash Player Protected Mode is a new security enhancement designed to limit the impact of attacks launched from malicious SWF files against Adobe Flash Player when running in Firefox 4.0+ on Windows Vista and higher. This feature is comparable to the Flash Player Protected Mode in Google Chrome browser, Protected Mode in Adobe Reader, and Office 2010 Protected View.
    Flash Player background updates (Mac) — New versions of the runtimes can now be delivered more effectively to the end user with this enhanced updating mechanism (Background update is only available in the release versions of Flash Player).
    Low latency audio support (Sound API) — This enhancement reduces the latency for Sound.play method and changes to volume and pan on SoundTransform. The latency of SAMPLE_DATA event should also be reduced considerably.
    Texture Streaming for Stage3D — Provides an ability to upload coarser, lower quality textures on the GPU first and then progressively improve them as more data becomes available.

  • NetStream.send not working in Flash Player 11.2 Beta with Cirrus, Please confirm if it is a bug

    Title
    NetStream.send not working in Flash Player 11.2 Beta with Cirrus, Please confirm if it is a bug or feature
    Description
    Problem Description:
    NetStream.send can not send data to peerstreams when using with cirrus. Conflict with documents.
    Sorry for tag the build as 11.0.1.3 while the bug is actually on 11.2 beta since the bug report system didn't have 11.2 beta yet.
    If you are not responsible for 11.2 beta bug fix, please help a hand to handle this bug to 11.2 team.
    This bug is "killing" to your application, so we really appreciate your help. Thanks.
    ==Publisher==
    nc.connect("rtmfp://");
    var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc, NetStream.DIRECT_CONNECTIONS);
    ns.publish("sendtest");
    ...//after connection success.
    ns.send("clientfunction", "ok"); // this line cannot reach subscribers. even if subscribers have client object correctly.
    ==Subscriber==
    nc.connect("rtmfp://");
    var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc, cirrusid);
    var client:Object = new Object();
    client.clientfunction = clientfunction; // target function
    ns.client = client;
    ns.play("sendtest");
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. compile the code in the attachment to SendTestExample.swf (not be able to paste it here)
    2. run it under flash player 11.2.202.19 beta
    3. run it under flash player 11
    Actual Result:
    HeartBeat is:
    Start HeartBeat:
    send hello
    send hello
    send hello
    which means NetStream.send was not able to call "clientfunction" as expected.
    Expected Result:
    Start HeartBeat:
    send hello
    in client function: hello
    send hello
    in client function: hello
    send hello
    in client function: hello
    which can call into the clientfunction as flash player 11 did.
    Any Workarounds:
    I can not find it out since it's an api level bug. But this can be very important for lots of applications which rely on send to do rpc.
    Test Configuration
    IE8, Firefox under Windows 7
    Also have problem under Windows XP (but not well tested on this platform)

  • Adobe Flash Player 11.5 Beta Installation

    To be able to use the Adobe Flash Player 11.5 Beta, do I need to download and install both the installer and the debugger files that are on the following link?  http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplatformruntimes/flashplayer11-5/?tabID=details#ta bTop

    Just the installer.  The debugger is useful only if you want to debug Flash content that you're writing.

  • Flash Player 10.1 beta 2, MAC and camera access

    Anyone else having this issue?  If you go to a site that has a swf, which wants to access your camera it gives you the popup but you can't click the popup?  Try this site: http://blog.soulwire.co.uk/flash/actionscript-3/webcam-motion-detection-tracking/ or http://coenraets.org/blog/2010/01/creating-a-custom-component-and-skins-in-flex-4/
    I am running:
    Flash Player 10.1 Beta 2 Debug version
    MAC OSX 10.5.8
    Firefox 3.5

    Hi, Oh, ok. I wasn't sure, some of the users here on the forum install it thinking it will help solve their problems with Flash Player. http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/releasenotes.pdf  This link will explain where to report issues that end users experience with beta. That would help them. The forum here wouldn't help with that since Adobe already
    has a site set up for feedback on the beta. Just thot I would mention that, but you'll see that in that pdf article.
    The more feedback of issues from end users the better. Makes for a smooth final release, so thanks for helping. A lot
    easier to get all of the "bugs" out now than have to deal with them after the f.r.
    Thanks,

  • Flash Player 10.1 Beta - HD playback - GMA500 & XP issues

    Hi,
    I am an user of a MSI Wind netbook, Intel Atom Z530 CPU & GMA500 Video.
    Many users of these kind of netbooks have Windows XP preinstalled.
    So the HD acceleration of the new Flash Player 10.1 Beta versions won't work.
    I tried each of the 3 Beta version but none worked.
    Tested with many youtube/hullu/etc 720p/1080p video files.
    Using the latest Intel SDK driver called "IEGD 10.3" my netbook is available
    to play 1080p video files locally using MediaPlayerClassic HC.
    Is it possible to integrate Windows XP support for the GMA500 chipset ?
    Beta 3 has this support for Windows 7 only.
    Bye,

  • Flash Player 10.1 Beta cause Mac screen to flicker

    I installed Flash Player 10.1 Beta and started noticing my screen to flicker ( fade to blue desktop color like the monitor was being unplugged and plugged back in ).
    I uninstalled 10.1 and went back to 10.0.32 and now everything is working fine.
    I figured it was screwing with the video card (details below) trying to offload processing. Not sure what type of flash use was causing the problem.
    Here is my configuration for Flash dev team.
    Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 Dual Core Intel Xeon
    9 GB 667MHz DDR2
    Mac OS X 10.6.2
    nVidia GeForce 7300 GT (Stock and single monitor is plugged into this card)

    Hey Chris, thanks for all the keeping up with us and stuff.  I have an issue and i'm not sure if this was already discussed (if so sorry). Windows 8 IE 10 I'm getting an error tying to downgrade my customers to the beta.  The message i'm getting is
    The installation encountered errors:
    Your Microsoft Explorer browser includes the latest version on the Adobe Flash Player built-in. Windows Update will inform you when new versions of Flash Player are available.
    I have done my research and I cannot find how to fix this issue.  I have ran the uninstaller multiple times and restarted blah blah all the goodies.  It will not let me install the beta.
    Please help..... any idea how to get beta running on hundreds of my customers machines?
    The beta work's great it seems like and I wouldn't mind installing the beta on all their machines till the final release (which seems like a few weeks away)
    Thanks again, Tim
