After 8 days of calling Tech Support I’m done with Verizon.  Today my speed peaked to 23.3k…The only answer I get from Tech Support is, there seems to be a server end problem.
  While trying to cancel all my Verizon services, I’m told I will have to pay an early cancelation fee.
I will have to look into taking legal action. I’m sure there are hungry law firms willing to gather as many people as possible to start a class action suit

    Make sure DNS is set to auto (settings - general - network)

    Generally this is a sign that the iPhone had previously been
    hacked/modified/jailbroken and the update relocked it to the
    original wireless carrier. If this is the case, only that wireless
    carrier can unlock your iPhone. You must contact them to see
    if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
    Where did you acquire this iPhone?
    What wireless carrier did you use before this problem?
    Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?
    What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>About=>Carrier?

    Given that it probably hasn't been used in years, it's likely that the battery is shot and in need of replacement.  However, the damage may be more than that, since it won't even power on, so it's hard to say for sure.

  • IPad2 Locking Noise Worked For A Day Now Nothing?

    I have a weird glitch with iPad 2. First day when I locked and unlocked the iPad2 it made the typical locking sound. Now it doesn't. Play the iPod and it outputs from the speaker fine. I checked the settings and everything is turned on including the lock sound and volume is at full. The side button is set for orientation and not mute so that isn't it.
    I restarted it twice but still no go. Any other ideas?
    Figured it out. If you change the button from Mute to Screen Orientation with the button in the mute position the sounds stay muted. So make sure you change the setting to orientation with the sound switch set to un-muted.

    Disable, would that be just as simple as temporarily dragging the third party plugins to the desktop and dragging them back one by one, or are we looking at trashing then one by one reinstalling?

  • Safari 6: Remove History Items After One Day does nothing?

    I don't like getting autocompletes from a million past sites, so I clear my history every so often. I prefer to do it manually, but Safari 6 deletes all the favicons--not just of the history but of your bookmarks too! Permanently. So I thought I'd try automatic history clearing instead: After One Day.
    But three days later, the History menu still shows the full histories for the past 3 days.
    Yet another bug I guess? Is this universal behavior?
    I'm on Lion at the moment.

    Might be corrupted Safari preference files... try this.
    From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
    from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
    Quit Safari.
    Go to Home/Library/Caches/Safari and delete all the sub-folders within that one.
    Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete any of these files you have there:
    • Downloads.plist
    • History.plist
    • LastSession.plist
    
Repair disk permissions...


    Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • Keep getting a "not responding" message. It's getting worse by the day. Nothing seems to work, including resetting.

    I've been getting this message for weeks now. And this is the 3rd time I've asked for help with this and nothing is working. I'm thinking about jumping ship back to Internet Explorer.   • I have update 4 for icloud on my windows 7 computer but the update will not install. I have been weeks trying manually as advised and the download and install that pops up most days. Nothing works. I also have itunes which updates everytime.

    Daily I have icloud update 4 sent to my  Windows 7 Laptop. It fails everytime I attempt to install the update. I was advised to install manually but this fails also.
    I thought I'd uninstall icloud then reinstall again but cannot find a way to uninstall and still no solution to the update install.
    I have itunes and have no problems with updates.
    I also have an ipad with icloud so maybe this is part of the problem?

    You've posted in a PowerPC old vintage system discussion area.
    Do you have an Intel based Mac or a G4/G5 model prior to 2006?
    If the computer is running OS X 10.7.5 or later, you may try to Force Quit the computer
    by holding the power button down for about a minute. Then try to start the computer
    in Recovery mode and if that is present, you can use OS X Utilities, and choose Disk
    utility to see if repairing the hard disk drive helps.
    Or from the original OS X install DVD, if you have a PPC Mac w/ OS X 10.5.8;
    or if Intel Mac w/ optical drive & retail or original install-restore on DVD... Insert
    the DVD and hold the C key down on startup to use tools on the Install DVD.
    Or before going this far, on attempt to restart, try SafeBoot where you hold the Shift
    key down after the start tone, and keep holding it until you see the login screen,
    for your user password. Continue holding the Shift key down until you see Desktop
    or Finder, then let the key go. This does may allow you to run Disk Utility from
    the system in the computer, to see if repair disk permissions can help it.
    You may have to use Recovery to attempt a reinstall of the OS X, if you have a
    computer that is an Intel-based Mac. You posted in an older Mac area for items
    built before 2006, that is before Macs had intel processors: they ran PowerPC.
    Should the issue be the probability of whatever you were attempting to get, did not
    make it, due to failure of the internet, or other issue, that may have timed out.
    With poor or spotty internet, software or system updates or upgrade is problematic.
    And if you were also using Wi-Fi, not an Ethernet connection, that usually is worse.
    Since iOS is not a Mac OS X system, that is meaningless or not helpful in determining
    anything about a Mac, or troubleshooting one. So actual related information is missing.
    To supply info about your Computer, its OS X version, and other configuration specs
    would help anyone else seeing your vague question.

    I'm not sure what help you're looking for. Mountain Lion can only be obtained via download at this time. Perhaps you should find another network on which to download the file. If there's an Apple Store near you, that would work.

  • Fourth disconnection from FiOS internet service in five days

    I have been with FiOS for at least four years. I had never causing connection problem been very stable and reliable. However, I experienced internet disconnection four times for the last five days while FiOS TV and telephone were still working well. Each time the trouble shooting guide, you know, turning on and off, didn't work so I had to call Verizon. The representatives made me plug the router off and back on, reset it with a paper clip, or even go downstairs to disconnect the ONT from all power sources(wall outlet and backup battery). You know what? They just needed to reset my service on their side, not my side. How can it be disconnected four times in the past five days, while nothing happened for the previous four YEARS??? I tried to give them an idea to trouble shoot but they didn't listen to me carefully and were just following their protocols. This morning, FiOS internet was disconnected and the router's internet LED was solid amber or orange. I had to go to work so I was not able to call Verizon. I will try after work tonight.
    One suspicion is VERIZON BLOCKS TORRENT TRANSACTIONS. Does any body knows about this? We know what happened to Comcast due to such blocking. Hope to hear any idea. Thank you.
