8 hour update to iOS 8.1.3

Hello.  I contacted Apple about a glitch with my iPhone 6.  We decided to restore the phone to factory settings.  I connected to iTunes and it said that the update to the latest version would take 8 hours.  I decided to disconnect my phone and go to a place where the WIFI is fast and would take less time.  I did this and I am completely up-to-date.
I reconnected to iTunes and it is insisting, that before a factory restore can be done, I must install the 8.1.3 update and it has gone back to trying to download and install said update!!!!
How can I bypass this and simply restore the phone?
Thank you for any suggestions.

The restore is not completed. You will have to re-try the restore process again.

syncing my iPad is taking more than 36 hours... how do I speed this up so I can update my iOS?

Try restarting the iPad. Disconnect the iPad first.
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPod touch. To turn iPod touch back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Restart your PC.
    Try again.

  • The calendar events and alarms are off by 3 hours since updating to iOS 4.3

I updated to iOS 4.3 last night, and I have a problem where my Calendar times have been offset by 3 hours.
It states that I have an event that on Google Calendar that is set at 12 PM - 9 PM today, however when I view my iPhone calendar that the event goes from 9 AM - 6 PM.
In addition, the alarm for the event has been offset 3 hours AFTER the event. My alarm, which is set ten minutes before the event, went off at 2:50 PM.
Any thoughts? I have the event set to EST in Google Calendar, and the time is correct in Google Calendar.

Hi and welcome to Apple Discussions, Darby.
Is the Time Zone set correctly on your iPhone? Look in Settings, Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Scroll down and make sure the Time Zone is set to the correct Time Zone.
If thats not it, this Apple document might help -> http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2339.

You have to connect the iPad to your computer to update.
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1.3. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.

  • IPhone backup hung for 4 hours on update to iOS 5

    My configuration:
iTunes 10.5.2.11 (just updated to), iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.3.3. Windows XP Home Edition Version 5.1 SP 3. Last update and sync was 5 months ago.
Updating iTunes required a PC reboot, which I did. When I updated iTunes 10.5.2.11 (or maybe after I synced my iPhone soon thereafter), it asked if I wanted to automatically install updates (I think) on the iPhone. Hadn't seen this before, so I clicked 'Yes'. I also manually transfered all purchases from iPhone to iTunes before updating to iOS 5 (standard procedure).
    The "hang":
The update seemed hang after it started the "backup" process. The "moving green lights" on the backup dialog window rarely changed, and the screen on the iPhone shows a rarely updating "time wheel/gear" icon. Also, every 2+ minutes or so, I can hear the iPhone vibrating, which I was guess means something is going on. Windows Task Manager shows the APSDaemon.exe at 98-99% CPU as well as CPU Usage at 100%. Something seems hung in my mind.
I got nervous (and impatient), so I clicked "Stop" the backup. After a short "Sync" message on the iPhone, everything seems in order and back to as it was before the attempted update. My iPhone settings confirm it's still at iOS 4.3.3.
My Apple technical support expired 4 months ago, so that's why I'm trying the Apple Support Community. I searched to Community logs but wasn't sure that my situation was similar to others.
Thank you for any help you can offer.

Something on your computer is blocking the backup. For one thing, you should back up frequently. Daily is a good idea. The backup is incremental, so when there is a long gap between backups the process of determining what has changed can take quite a while. But 4 hours is much to long.
First, try fixing Windows socket layer manager; this has been a consistent problem since a Microsoft update back in October. Open a Command window, and type:
       netsh  winsock  reset
Then reboot and try again by JUST doing a backup - with the phone connected, right click on the name of the phone in iTunes and choose "Backup" from the floating menu,
If the backup still hangs the old backup is probably corrupt. Delete it by going to iTunes Preferences, Devices tab. After that make sure the delete worked. Use Windows Explorer to verify the Backup folder is empty. It is located at:
    C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
where user is your Windows login name. If the folder is not empty delete everything in it.

  • When I updated to ios 5.0.1 my battery was half way full and it was charging. It started to install it and now it is completely dead (with the lightning bolt) and when i try to turn it on, i have a white screen. HELP

I have a ipod touch 4g, i just updated to ios 5.0.1 today. At the time, my battery was half way full so i had it charging. It started to install, i'm not sure if it actually did or not, but it turned off and started loading like if it were a new ipod, or like when you install new software. then the screen went blank and it restarted. it says its completely dead now but if i click the home button it turns on but goes straight to a white screen.

    - If the screen remains white, let the battery fully. After charging for an hour, try a reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    And restore as necessary,
    - If it is off try:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

  • IPhone 5 dead after updating to iOS 8.0.2

After updating from 7.1.2 to 8.0.2, my iPhone 5 cannot charge and is not recognized by my Mac.  All original cables.   After 24 hours, the battery is dead, so there is no way to even find a solution by restoring or anything.  It is a brick.  If I were to replace the battery by myself, I still would not know how to proceed, software-wise, as not able to downgrade back to 7.1.2 (where everything was fine) and not sure of iOS 8.1 fixes any of this.
Any ideas welcome.  Been surfing the web for weeks and still no solution found.

Hi!  I always reset my network setting after every update of iOS because of the battery drain.  I did the same for iOS 8.02, but to no effect.  The problems I am experiencing are:
    1. battery drain - just around 4hrs of regular use instead of 8hrs
    2. the phone lags even when answering calls
    3. frequent signal drops and the phone heating up
    4. reset by itself yesterday while i was switching between apps
I also updated an iPad mini first gen, but has no problem so far.
