"8" icon next to slice icon

I've just noticed that on some of my slices, there is an icon showing an "8" next to the slice type icon.  In the Save for Web window, these slices have a green border instead of red.  What does this icon mean?

Voilà!
EDIT:
So the image's been shrunk and blurred.  If you look at the two slices number showing in the middle, they are slices 34 and 35.  Next to slice 35, there is a little "8" icon.  The open dialog window on top is the slice options of slice 35 -- there's nothing that indicates anything different from slice 34.

  • Spinning circle icon next to LTE icon - iOS 8

Just upgraded to iOS 8 on iphone 5. While using Safari and Mail there is a spinning circle icon next to the LTE icon. It constantly spins while Mail is open and all web pages even thought the pages are fully loaded. This is causing the battery to drain quicker. Is there a resolution to this?

That is the orientation lock for the screen. Double tap the home button, this opens the multi task screen. Now slide from left to right, you will see ipod controls and a symbol to the left of the controls. That locks and unlocks the screen.

  • Unusual icon next to User icon in Console One

Hi, I was hoping to locate a list of Novell icons for Console One, as I need to identify an icon which has appeared next to an existing user.
The existing user has the standard user icon, then a symbol which looks like a few dots circling anti-clockwise to an arrow.
I can't work out how to paste or attach an image to this post, but the icon is roughly like a reverse refresh symbol.
When I view the same tree in iManager, this user doesn't appear at all, either when I search that OU or when I search from the root of the tree. Just wondering what is the status of this user account and why this icon.
    Thanks, Nat

Going by your description I'm guessing this is an alias, meaning it is a
pointer to the real user. If you go to the Other tab in ConsoleOne I
think it'll show you the Object Class which is probably 'Alias'. This can
happen if you move an object and choose to leave an alias behind so that
references to the old DN still work.
Why would this show up in ConsoleOne but not iManager? Perhaps one
replicas has the object while others do not and it's a coincidence based
on which client (iMan/C1) hits which server. Query all servers via
iMonitor to see what they show respectively.
    Good luck.

  • Weird icon next to battery icon

this weird icon popped up on my phone yesterday and have no idea what it means. it is a lock with a circular arrow around it?

You you have rotation lock enabled. A rotation lock icon will appear in the status bar next to the battery charge icon when rotation lock is enabled. This looks like a circular arrow around a padlock. If so:
    1. Double click the home button to bring up the multitasking bar.
    2. Swipe right until the last set of icons is displayed in the multitasking bar (these will include play/pause and skip buttons for iPod or Pandora).
    3. The furthest left icon looks like a circular arrow - touch this icon to enable or disable rotation lock on the iPhone.

  • Lock Icon next to bluetooth icon.....how do I "unlock" it???

Double-click the Home button to bring up the recently used apps bar or dock. Swipe to the right to bring up the iPod controls and the Portrait Orientation Lock selection at the far left. Select it to lock or unlock Portrait Orientation. Select the Home button when finished.

  • ITunes Match, icon next to Music has a lightning bolt on it?

The icon next to Music in the top left (not the icon next to individual icones) has gone from a solid cloud, to a cloud with what seems to be a lightning bolt. If i click it, the icon becomes animated for several minutes, with wavy lines. Not sure what this indicates? both the lightning bolt or the wavy lines.

    Mine is not.
Match had been working perfectly. I decided to delete all my low bitrate matached songs and redownload them. The process was going perfectly and then I had to restart my Macbook. About 500 songs downloaded correctly and are now upgraded 256kbps AACs but every other matched song is greyed out and I cannot download it.
I have tried everything: turning off/on match, option clicking the match on/off button, creating a new itunes library, etc. No luck. I can see all my music and itunes match says all 7500 of my songs "are avilable in the cloud" but almost all of them appear in grey text and I cannot downloaded them.
Also, the cloud icon next to "music" on the sidebar shows animated diagonal lines.
Is iTunes match down? Anyone else having this issue?
Interesting, I can download/stream all 7500+ songs on my iPhone. The problem seems to be confined to itunes on my mac.

  • I the cloud and itunes match. Some songs have the "waiting" icon next to them but are unable to upload and instead of determing them ineligible itunes continues to try to upload that song and never gets to the rest of the list.

I have  icloud and itunes match and most of my songs have been uploaded to the cloud. Some songs still have the "waiting" icon next to them and when I turn itunes match on they neither upload nor are they determined ineligible. My computer will literally spin its wheels for hours trying to upload the same song. Additionally, I uploaded an audiobook disc on my computer and 3 of the 11 tracks are still waiting to be uploaded???

The exclamation mark happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .
If the missing files just can't be found then, assuming you are in region where you are permitted multiple downloads of your audio purchases, delete the current enties and download again from your purchased history.

  • How can I get an item that has the broadcast icon next to it into MP3 format so I can put it on my ipod nano?

Question: how can I get an item in my itunes library, on my mac os 10.6.7 that has a broadcast icon next to it into MP3 format so I can play it on my ipod? right now it won't let me, and it's very frustrating!!!! thanks

I might have misunderstood what you mean by the "broadcast icon," but if you are talking about an audio stream, then there is just no way you can convert a stream to MP3. What this would involve is either recording the stream, and then you would just be replaying the recorded audio on your iPod (is this what you are trying to achieve?), or reading the stream directly on your iPod, which an iPod nano does not support (it would need wireless connectivity).
    Hope this helps

  • I have a song on my ipod touch I can't get rid of. Even if I uncheck the artist and re-sync the file still is showing. It has a weird circle with a stop icon next to the file.

I also tried to manually manage the music files and removed them all from my ipod. But the file still remains. It only is appearing on my ipod touch, it does not show in itunes. And when I add the file that shows in itunes, it shows up twice. One is normal and the other has that stop button icon next to it. Please help.

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore.  When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them.  What program did you use to import them?  Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all.  You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

  • An event in one of my libraries no longer has the event icon next to it's name just the name only. I can't view the clips in the event or import new clips. I've tried deleting the event and nothing.

an event in one of my libraries no longer has the event icon next to it's name in the browser just the name only. I can't view the clips in the event or import new clips. I've tried deleting the event and nothing. After control clicking the event it shows all the media that has been previously imported. But it does not allow anything to be done to the event including deleting. This showed up at the beginning of a normal import session. This is fortunately the back-up evant.

Did you perhaps mess with the contents of the library in the Finder?

  • No Longer Seeing Rintone Icon Next to Songs, Message

Since Ringtones were introduced to iTunes and until last night, I had a ringtone icon next to a small percentage of songs in my library. Today, they're gone. The ringtone (bell icon) column remains, but it's empty. Out of curiosity, I clicked on one of the songs that previously had a ringtone icon next to it, and I get a message saying (for example) "White Wedding, Pt. 1 by Billy Idol can no longer be made into a Ringtone."
Now, absolutely none of the songs in my library have ringtone icons. I checked to be sure Ringtones was checked in Preferences, went to the View menu to make sure it was enabled (even though I can plainly see the Column with the bell icon- it's just empty all the way down the length of my library). Any ideas/suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • What are the icons next to the printer name in the print sheet?

Ever since I upgraded to OS X Lion, I have noticed something different in the print dialogue.  First the technical info: I am using a 2009 Mac Mini (4 GB RAM, OS 10.7.3) and I have a couple of printers that I use - one is a Brother laser printer (shared from an iMac, running 10.6.8) and a Canon Pixma Pro 9000, connected via USB to a Time Capsule.
When I hit Command-P to bring up the print sheet, I now get icons on the left hand side of some of the printer names in the printer list.  One looks like a road sign - diamond shaped with a walking person in it, and the other is a circle with a wavy line (tilde?) in it.  The other printer names have no icons next to them.  I gather that the circle-and-tilde means "printer not available" (or something similar) - even though the printer is there!!! And then I wonder why the other printer names have no icons, and I have no clue what the "walking person" sign means.
I'm adding a couple of images so you all can see what I'm talking about:
What do these icons mean?  I can find NO reference to them - even in Apple's knowledge base article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670 - this just looks like the screen shots from the 10.6 Snow Leopard page.  I looked in the OS X Lion Missing Manual, but it has the same screen shots with no explanation of the icons.
This is pretty minor, but it's been bugging me for a while.   Any explanation or reference to these icons would be appreciated!

Wow, impressive, thank you!  Is there a listing or other resource available that can tell me what all these symbols mean?  Or are they the only ones?
This Mac 101: Printing article mentions some of the icons you will see in 10.6. And there is also the Mac 101: Printing article for Lion that shows some symbols. Neither show the icon you are seeing for the Brother but this is icon has been around for a while and used for warnings/information alerts.

  • Checking for new mail icon next to mailbox seems to have disapeared

After upgrading to OS X Mountain Lion I noticed that the icon next to each mailbox that shows when checking for new mail is not there.  I wonder if anyone else has noticed this, and if they have found a fix?

Yes, the little "spinner" is gone with Mountain Lion.  It's checking mail, you just don't see it.

  • Process runs in the background and shown as an icon next the clock (how to?

    Hi guys,
I have a program that runs in the background (a daemon). It refers to a database and make some calculations. If it's not activated, the database will lack some critical information. For this propose, I eliminated the closing option from the user (it's a gui); so if the user wants to close it he must terminated the application from the 'window task manager'.
Question: how can I place this process as a small icon next to the clock on the lower right side? I don't want the process to be shown on the taskbar.
    Thanks for any idea
