8 or 16 Gig model?

Hi all,
I'm contemplating getting the new 3G phone and need to decide between the two models. Does anyone know in real practical terms, what I'll be getting besides the larger capacity? Please provide examples in terms of how many songs I can have loaded between the two models, etc. More software loaded, photos? Thanks.

It's only a matter of capacity, how many more songs or videos? it depends on the encoding method (128 kbps mp3's are lighter than 224 kbps) For videos is the same story. The more space you have in the device the more stuff you can put into, that's it. I loaded my iPhone White 16GB with one full movie (120 mins) and more than 1550 songs encoded at different bit rates and still have like 7 GB plus. Haven't tried with ACC files, just because 224 kbps's works just fine for me, my iTunes's settings are as follows: iTunes * Preferences * Advanced * MP3 Encoder/Custom * Stereo Bit Rate=224 kbps * Use Variable Bit Rate Encoding (Box Unchecked) Quality=Medium * Sample Rate=44.100 kHz * Channels=Stereo * Stereo Mode=Normal * Smart Encoding Adjustments (Box Checked) * Filter Frequencies Below 10 Hz (Box Unchecked)
I hope this information helps you.

  • Does WCCP affect linespeed rate on 4948 10-gig model with Ipsvcs?

    Greetings,
I was asked to implement an "imperative" thing here in my office before our finalized gear shows up.  The solution is a 1-gig rated set of silverpeaks and some 4948's.  Does the linespeed of the 4948 drop with WCCP enabled?  I would like to utilize the 10 gig connections back to my WAN distribution and to the silverpeak, but the links on which the BGP / Leased line traverse are 1 gig.
I'm just checking that utilizing BGP and WCCP doesn't cause the actual line speed to drop to something weird like 850 megs like they do on some of the 39XX routers.
Anyone know this data or can point me to a document that says the throughput is <blah> - other than the datasheet that just says "wirespeed"?
         Thx, -PKil

Unfortunately, No. We had to punt on this particular eBook, which was supplied by another agency. As you can see, it was put together with Caibre.
I find Apple's error messages way too generic. They need to give you some clue, like a line number in a file, or something, to look at. Frustrating.

  • I have a new iphone 5 64 gig model and find the battery life extremely short compared to my old iphone 3gs with 16gig...why?...the claim is that the battery life is improved. I am running all the same apps, latest software, etc. on a new unit?

Very short battery life on new iphone 5 with 64 gig memory. Old 3gs with 16 gig had much longer battery life. Why?

Here are Apple's tips to lengthen your iPhone's battery life.

  • Jukebox Zen NX (30 gig model) inopera

The mp3 player I bought around 2 months ago is no longer working. The LCD screen won't display any letters or characters. Not even a little black line. The lights still work that illuminate the screen but nothing appears. Hoping for a certified repairer here in Melbourne (I sent an email off to support). I tried resetting the product several times to no joy. I'm navigating the menus off feel and guesswork and it's pretty annoying seeing as there's so much to go through.
Switch it on - Music Library - scroll down 3 clicks - trial and error to get the song I want.
    any help would be appreciated,
    thanks,

Sounds like the LCD has failed, so you'll have to get it repaired by Creative.

  • New iPod 30 or 60 gig?

I have had several iPods and am considering purchasing a new one. I can't decide between the new 30 or 60 gig models. I know the new 60 gig model is thicker and weighs more. Besides the obvious storage advantage, and I understand 4 more hours of battery life for the 60 gig model, can anyone please offer any perspectives or comments comparing and contrasting between these 2 iPod models? I have not seen any posting on this issue and thought it would be of interest. Thanks.
Mac Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I think it depends on what you are using it for. I put my entire CD collection plus tons and tons of videos. I have already used around 35 gigs so far. Nonetheless, barring that you have tons and tons of music, a 30 gig would be adequate for music. If you plan on putting lots of videos on it, I would go with the 60gig. I would personally recommend going with a 60 gig, but that is just my opinion. Also, your right, you will get a longer battery life which is quite useful.

  • Creative zen 20 gig wont install on win 7

)cHello I have the creative zen 20 gig model number hd005, this is now end of life on the creative website and is unsupported by win 7?, is there any way I can install the software so i can synch with my music, somehow had it working with vista but cant get it to work with win 7, dont want to but another player just because it wont synch with win7.

    Hi,
Please ensure the CD supports Windows 7, any supported OS is listed on its label.
If required download the latest software below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-71555-4&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
Follow the installation till the EULA screen and press the Internet Connection options link.
Select No, Thanks for both of the options and press OK.
Accept the EULA and continue the installation, that should prevent such hanging within the software update stage.

  • I bought an Iphone 5 (Carrier: Sprint / model A1249) and I want to use it in France. Can I without any problems?

    Hi everyone,
First, I want to apologize about my bad english, I'm french.
So today, I bought on Ebay an Iphone 5 64 Giga, Model A1249 MD668LL/A, and apparently simlocked. That's why the seller sold it with a R-sim6 cards.
Here is the information some IMEI website checker told me about it:
    Warrantly: Active
    Technical support: Active
    Resgistered Status: Yes
    Activated Status: Yes
    Purchase Date: Validated
    Sim Lock status: Locked
So, that's mean until I don't use the r-sim in it, I can't use my phone with  any other nanosim than the sprint one?
is they're any way to unlock my phone without this r-sim and legally?
I saw some website about unlocking directly your iphone 5, but it's a bit expensive. Is it legal? Can apple helped me about this?
    Thanks you.
    Alex.

It's False, The only carrier that don't provide GSM support is actually At&T, that's why a lot of people said in the USA it's the worst about travelling.
Verizon and Sprint support GSM network outside the country, but only the Verizon iphone are sold totally unlocked to any other carriers.
That's why some website sell some offer about Factory Unlock on Sprint iphone 5s
Here is the specs about network support:
    AT&T – GSM model A1428*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 4 and 17)
    Verizon & Sprint – CDMA model A1429*: CDMA EV-DO Rev. A and Rev. B (800, 1900, 2100 MHz); UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 13, 25)
    European – GSM model A1429*: UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz); LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5)
As you can see, Verizon and Sprint models sold support both CDMA and GSM carrier, as said many times on the internet.

  • 4 gig iPhone NOT OBSOLETE

I keep seeing these posts saying the iPhone 4 gig is obsolete. How silly is that, the software and platform that runs your iPhone (whether 4, 8, 16, 100 billion) gigs is still the same, the only thing different is the size of your hard drive. Your phone is not going to stop recieving updates and not get new features with new software updates, you are just not going to have as much space as the other phones...don't be silly.
If i hadnt already bought one, I would still go out and get a 4 gig for only 299 (thats awesome!!!! I did get my refund ), same phone, just not as much space to store movies and songs, but come-on, this is a phone, do you really need more than 4 gigs of stuff on your phone? I have a few movies and tons of music and still have 2 gigs left...

BECAUSE ITS THE SAME PHONE!!!!! The only thing different is the size of the flash memory drive in the device. If they put out an update for the 8 gig and future 16 gig iPhones, it will update your phone too. You dont have any different hardware, you just have a smaller flash disk drive. Your OS is the same, your RAM is the same, your EVERYTHING IS THE SAME.
Look at it this way, you should feel lucky if you have an iPhone 4 gig, cause you can get into the iphone market as cheaply as possible...I would hurry and buy one now if you can...they will sell out fast.
Remember, all that is different is the size of the flash drive, any future updates to the 8 gig models will SURELY be applicable to the 4 Gig models...and its not like it voids any warranty, they are just saying, we ar enot making any more phones with that small of a hard drive....

  • 60 gig Video Display Question

I have the 60 gig model; when playing music, it's supposed to display the album cover for whatever song is playing, but often enough, it displays the wrong album. For example, if I'm playing Sinatra, the display shows the title, artits and album name, but the color album display might be the Stones! How do I fix? Thanks!

On iTunes right-click on the songs affected to get info then go to Artwork and copy and paste the right artwork and click ok. Connect your iPod to your computer and it should change it to the correct artwork.

  • Should I get the 30 gig ipod or the 80 gig ipod

    Hi Guys,
After two creative labs "lemons" Iv'e decided to get an ipod video but can't decide whether to get the 30 or 80 gig model. I have 8.76 gigs of music ripped to my computer. I want it primarily for music but would also like to put some photos and video on it. I'm leaning for the 80, but my friends recomend the 30 saying that I will never fill 30 gigs. I can easily afford the 30 with an extended warranty plan from either circ. city or best buy. I can also afford the 80 but won't be able to afford an expensive extended warranty plan for it (they average around 69$ for the 80 gig). I also found an 80 gig on amazon for $330 with no tax and free shipping, but I dont think amazon's extended warranty plan is any good. What about apple's manufacturer warranty? is it any good. Do you guys think i should be worried and purchase an ext. warranty or just get the 80 gig and hope for the best? not looking for an answer per say...just your guy's opinions!
    -Nick D.

One thing you might want to do is go by an apple
store or retailer. Then you can compare the two
against each other. See which one you would be more
    comfortable with.
As far as amount of music and other stuff. Only you
know how big your library can be. My audiobook
collection alone is over 30 gigs. Everyone will have
different size libraries and their use may be
    different from you.
    Mort
This is not on topic, but you spoke of putting your audiobooks on your iPod. This is exactly why I bought the 80 Gig--but now I'm having problems putting books on it. I have a PC and the books come with an AAC extension--which apparently needs to be converted to a different extension. There is a program to convert on an Apple but I can't find out if there is one to convert files for my PC running Windows XP.

  • Just outside of my warranty and my Macbook Air is faulty! Help!

    Hi all,
Just wanted to know if anyone is or was in the same boat and if there was any options open to me here without forking out for expensive repair costs.
Macbook Air purchased November 2010. 11 inch 4 Gig model. Mac OS X 10.6.8.
    My Problem... (LCD Display Faulty)
1st Problem: Been absolutely perfect until about 4 weeks ago. First I noticed a few small red dot's appearing on the left of the screen, as far as the screen will go which only apear on darker colours. These red pixel dots only appear after the Macbook has been on for about 20 minutes or so. They will dissapear when you close and re open the lid but then will re appear 20 minutes later. The longer you use it the worse these red pixel dots get and they even start flashing. This has got worse over the last 4 weeks.
2nd Problem: I have just noticed after these red dots the right side of the screen is a slightly darker shade than the left side. Split exactly in the middle of the screen. Noticed this on boot up last week and is particuary noticable on blue and grey coloured screens. Eaxactly the same problem as these guys had here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2791453?start=0&tstart=0
    What I did...
Tried reinstalling software etc which didnt rectify anything so I booked an Apple Genius Bar appointment today at 12:20 at the Apple Store in Birmingham (Bull Ring). The genius confirmed this was a faulty screen and it would have to be replaced.
One Problem... My Warranty ran out November 8th. Just under 2 months over the warranty. Guess what... They said they would not replace it and I would have to pay just under £400 to get it fixed. They were not prepared to help in any way.
I expect a £1200 laptop to last longer than 14 months without developing a fault and even if it did at that price I certainly would be expecting the retailer/manufacturer to repair free of charge especially when they have confirmed it is a manufacturer fault. A £300 Asus Notebook then I wouldnt mind.
I quoted Sales of Goods act to the Manager in the store and she said the Sales of Goods act doesnt apply because it has to be reported within 12 months and Im only covered for up to 6 years if the fault was reported within 12 months.
    HELP... Advice?
Has anyone had experience with out of warranty repairs? Has anyone any advice? (Forget the buy the extended warranty wise cracks) I can't afford to buy warranties on every electrical item I purchase for my houshold.
This Macbook is less than 60 days out of its warranty is there anything I could do? Or even any simple repair solutions? Tried the stuck pixel fixes which didn't work.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Joe.

    Thanks Allan,
Allen to be honest after visiting the apple store today I was hoping to get some sort of compremise. Like I pay for the labour or something hoping to be around £100ish but no. I had a grinch. She was not prepared to help in any way....
I have onother Apple store in Sollihul. I could pay them a visit I supose. There all like 30 miles away though and a 60mile round trip like the one I have had today has drained my energy!
I just wanted to see if anyone else has had the same issues and Im glad to see you managed to compremise.

  • HT201232 I puchased lord of the rings extended trilogy and did not have enough storage on my 16 gb ipad mini. It only downloaded the first movie. Is there a way i can view the other 2 or get a refund?

I Purchased lord of the rings extended trilogy but do not have enough storage on my ipad mini 16gb. onky 1 movie fit, is there a way to view the other 2 or to get a refund?

To have them all on your iPad at the same time you would need enough free space, which you won't have on a 16 gig model.
You might be able to download them on your computer's iTunes, possibly via the Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option, or by going to the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage. If you can you can then sync/watch them one at a time to your iPad, or stream them from your computer's iTunes to your iPad via homesharing : homesharing will need to be enabled on both your computer's iTunes (File > Home Sharing menu option) and iPad (Settings > Videos) ; both will need to connected to the same wifi network ; and iTunes on your computer will need to be open ; you should then get a 'shared' library option in the Videos app on your iPad

  • Switching Different iPhone 3G on Same Account

I have a 16 Gig iPhone that was water damaged, so I had to pay $399 a few months ago to replace it with an 8 Gig model. Of course a few weeks later the 16 Gig model comes back to life and it's been working fine for the past 3-4 weeks.
If I wanted to switch my AT&T account back to my old phone, can do it myself or do I have to go to an Apple store? Will there be a charge to transfer the account?
I'm also going to sell my 8 Gig model on E-bay. How much can I get for it? Thanks.

You can do this yourself by transferring the activated SIM card from your 8GB to your 16GB - with both iPhones powered off when doing so.
Connect the 16GB to iTunes and you should be prompted to activate or reactivate the 16GB iPhone with AT&T.
There is no charge for doing this.
I would hold off selling your 8GB for a little while to be sure the 16GB is working properly 100% and for more than a day after the iPhone is reactivated. For one thing, your warranty is void on the 16GB and just because it has come back to life does not mean there isn't damage that will surface or that will cause usage problems.
Check eBay or Craiglist regarding the going rate for a used 8GB iPhone 3G.

  • Final Cut Studio 2 on a MBP

I have a couple questions regarding the MBP capability and performance when working with all the programs in FC studio 2. Thanks ahead of time to any and all of you who reply, your knowledge is greatly appreciated.
Please keep in mind all of these questions are in regards to performance or capability with final cut studio 2.
I am very set on a MBP as opposed to the mac pro desktop, but does the MBP have any hick ups when trying to work in any of FC studio 2?
From what I have read most people say the 2.4 to 2.6 upgrade is not worth it is this still true if you plan on working in FC studio 2?
I plan on purchasing a 2 gig model and adding 2 more gigs my self, any recommendations as far as a company or site or both is again greatly appreciated.
15 inch or 17 inch, and why or why not?
160GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm or 200GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm, again why or why not?
From what I have read you want to go with antiglare as opposed to glossy because it throws off the true color, is this correct?
Is the higher resolution upgrade for the 17inch worth it?
    thank you again,
    John

hi lots of questions hope this helps
    i have the MBP 2.4 15 inch
i have not found any problems with my MBP so far except the size of the hdd once ive installed all my apps i found with a lo o customizing out 0f my 160gb i have about 40gb left after i installed everything including the full FCS-2
the speed is great not as good as a mac pro tho but it is a portable compatible tho.
i have upgraded my 2gb to 4gb you will need to buy 2x 2gb sodimm sticks i found mine on ebay quite cheap and a decent make aswell. it does help with booting up and FCP running.
i have the 15 inch as it is easier to carry round to uni and clients, 17 inch is big and bulky
200gb would be better but 160gb will do, use a external hdd as a scratch disk the bigger the better and firewire 400 atleast 800 is better
yes the glossy screen will do funny things with the picture and shine in day light, glossy is great for watching dvd's but not editing.
the higher res would be great but you can get away with a 15 inch res but FCS color does work best with a HD res screen
all in all i hope that helps
    have fun
