8 video outputs working simultaneously

Hi,
I’m preparing a conference with a huge screen projection; It’s 60 meters width and 5 meters hight. This space demand six projectors working simultaneously; and every projector will cover a 10 meters width; the sixth part of the screen.
I will buy a MacPro and my question is the fallowing:
Can I have 8 video outputs with this specifications?
Mac Pro 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon + 4x NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512MB
Are the screens organized like 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 working as a big large screen?
Thanks a lot for the help
David

Theoretically this will work. The hardware itself will perform the task you've set it. Obviously the higher the resolution the less the likelihood is things will work smoothly.
That being said you'll possibly need some special software. Basically in OSX you can assign each port to be an 'independent' screen and arrange them in literally any configuration you want. Remember though 'maximizing' an application will only take up 1 screen (you can manually resize the app to cover more than one screen of course). I haven't looked into it but there may be a software product that easily lets you maximize applications across all your screens at once with a simple click of the button. You may have better luck in windows running in bootcamp finding said application / tool but I am nervous about how all those cards will perform under windows.
You may also find it cheaper to do something other than a Mac Pro with 4 cards. It sounds like you only actually need 3 cards (60 meters wide with each card putting out to 2 projects each of which covers 10 meters). Otherwise you can build a PC with Matrox Triple Head cards and just get 2. Lastly, your dimensions will be a little off. There aren't any natively supported resolutions of 2:1 but instead 16:9, 16:10, and 4:3. Basically I'm saying you'll have something a little higher than 5 meters if you do each projector to be 10m wide.
Good luck!

  • Premiere Pro CS6 - Video Output (GPU) bad quality...

    Hi,
I have a question about Adobe Premiere Pro CS6...
I have installed the Trial-Version and use a BM Intensity Pro to output Full-HD 1080i (50, Interlace) trough HDMI Video-Output...
The Video-Output works correctly, but if I enable the "GPU"-Acceleration (CUDA), and scale or transform a Video (for example a 3D-Transformation) the Quality of the transforming is very bad! (jerky, not "smooth", Interlace-Lines etc...)
If I deactivate the GPU-Acceleration (Software only Mode), everything is smooth and looks good!
Also if I render the Timeline, all tranformations are also smooth, only the Realtime GPU Rendering looks very bad....
    What can I do?

    Hi :-)
I have tested it now with another Grafikcard!
And it is exactly the same problem
I have found out, that the GPU makes a delay, after a few seconds the Transformation looks smooth/bicubic!
    But on relatime-Playback its bad...
My English isnt very good, so I have some problems to describe what I mean...
If you stop the playback, it takes 2 Sekonds and then the image looks good!
But dureing the playback its very bad quality, false Interlace-Lines etc...

  • My new (2 weeks old) Macbook Pro, wont send video output signal to beamer... What can I do?  I have the adapter to vga but it does not work...

Hi, I have a new MacBook Pro and I dont get video output to a beamer although I have the regular
Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter and it works fine with my older MacBook...
Thanks a lot for your tips...

That should work. When you first hook it up it will probably have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the TV but you can move the cursor onto the TV screen.
In SystemPreferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box.
If you also want audio you'll need audio cables to the TV using a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate input plugs on your TV http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13#/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_19?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=macboo k+audio+cable&sprefix=macbook+audio+cable&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amacbook+audio+cable

  • S-video output not working for Satellite A60

The s-video output on my laptop is not working. i have tried the Fn-F5 hotkey, but i don't get a damn output on the tv.

    Hi
    First:
    Has it ever worked before?
Yes? then make sure that you don't have a second desktop activated. Go into the displaysettings and rightclick the second screen. Make sure it is not set to "attached".
If your machine also have a composite out, try using that instead.
    Does it work?
If yes, your machine is at least software-wise able to output the picture to the TV.
If no, then there is probably something in the software that stops the picture from going out to TV.
It could of course also be a hardware related problem but it is less prabable that both the s-video and the composite-ports are defective.
Try checking the settings for your videodriver.
    No?
If an s-video cable was delivered with your computer, make sure to use that one.
Check the s-video cable with a traditional DVD. This way see if the cable and in-port on your TV is ok.
If you are using the cable that came with your PC then you should defenitely check for settings in the videodriver.
If it is not the cable that came with your PC (or no cable was delivered with your PC) try check the manual for hints on a compatible cable.
Sorry for the quite messy respons - it is not easy to write a think-flowchart here.
    Good luck

Concerning: VGA monitors using an Aluminum Powerbook G4 PowerPC 2004 15"-screen 1.5Ghz
The DVI (converted to VGA) video output stopped working on this computer after 9 years of service. This raises question 1:
Is there any way of fixing this? I've tried the usual: triple checked all vga cables & devices through trial & error. Bought a new DVI-VGA adapter. Reset PRAM, PMU, etc. Nothing works. Something is probably damaged, because my KVM switch was not working unless I hot-reseated the vga cable into it, leading to this DVI port, and that is pretty rough stuff.
    Question 2 (related):
This dovetails into this: Can I drive a VGA monitor with the s-video output port on this computer. It would take an s-video (male)-to-15-pin-VGA adapter. Has anyone does this? So far, I haven't even found the adapter mentioned anywhere.
    Thanks for reading this.

Thanks for the useful feedback, Knucklesmac. I agree. I must have blown something on the logic board -- because I had a faulty old KVM switch that would not switch between computers without some nasty hot-plugging/unplugging the VGA video cables. (wince!). It's like when Dizzy Dean ruined his arm because a line drive hit him in the foot and he readjusted his mechanics around the injury. I take the blame because this has been a great computer, and does not deserve any blame.
If it will help anyone else reading this thread, C2G (née Cables to Go) has some interesting ideas for still getting external video out of this computer:
    -USB-to-VGA
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product/30545
-Convert s-video or composite video signals to high resolution VGA
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product/40971
The price range is $75-$85, which doesn't make horse sense to me for such an old computer -- which has a lot of life in it anyway, because its own 15" monitor is not chopped liver.

  • How to get iPhone 3GS Composite Video output to work

I have a iPhone 3GS with the latest 3.x FW (Updated 2/6/2010). I bought a Apple Composite video cable which lists iPhone 3GS as a supported product: MB129LL/B (one with 30 pin dock connector, composite, audio L&R, USB, power adapter).
When I connect the cable to the iPhone, audio output from music works (but is a little quiet compared to other inputs to my stereo).
However, I cannot get the video output to show any video. When the iPhone is connected my TV goes from a Blue Screen to Black, so it seems that something is being output.
I have tried both Apple and 3rd party cables with no luck. I had the same results with the previous 3.0 FW. Phone is new as of 11/2009.
I have tried photo slide shows while connected and I also purchased a product to make a iPhone compatible video.
In all cases, the TV screen remains black, but the iPhone screen shows the video fine.

Have you tried connecting other composite video sources to your TV, to be sure the problem isn't in your TV set?

  • [SOLV]PulseAudio - Simultaneous Output works until I close pavucontrol

    Hello,
    I'm having a odd issue....
I just installed PulseAudio on my machine (Avoided it for so long, still prefer just plain ALSA) and I'm using a ALSA backend. I installed it for the need to simultaneously output my system audio to my headphones and my speakers at the same time. Everything seems to be all right except for when I play Minecraft or WoW... Those are the two things I notice it with most. Haven't tried anything else. But, unless pavucontrol is running minimized in the background, or just open in general... Simultaneous output is VERY choppy on those apps. Switching back to a single output works just fine. But I'd very much rather use the simultaneous output...
I've been searching for the better part of yesterday to figure out why having pavucontrol open in the background would truly make a difference. I was hoping you guys over here that may have some PulseAudio experience to give me a helping hand.
I'm not exactly sure what configs to post... but here's my daemon.conf. I can post anything needed.
    Any support would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Matt
EDIT: Marked at [SOLV]... [ED] Wouldn't fit.

Looking further into the issue this morning... It seems to be a problem with the timer based scheduler...
I disabled the scheduler using tsched=0 and now those apps work fine, except for the helicopter-like noise that it's producing now.
Any ideas how to fix that?

  • [solved]No video output in Skype with nvidia driver - vesa works fine!

    Hi,
I'm struggling to get Skype video working. The webcam works perfectly - the other side can see me. But I can see neither myself nor my opponent - the corresponding place in the Skype window just gets white. It doesn't matter whether Compiz is active or not. I can also see myself when using cheese, video output also works properly.
Now, I supposed that it's an issue with my graphics driver (the proprietary nvidia driver) and changed it to vesa in the xorg.conf. Well, I have a resolution of 800x600 now, but the video in Skype is working perfectly! I will go ahead and try an older version of the nvidia driver but maybe it's a known issue and there is a workaround?
    Thanks,
    PhotonX
edit: Same problem on the 173 driver version.

  • Is simultaneous use of HDMI and Component Video outputs possible?

I want to split the Apple TV video output to drive my main plasma TV when desired, but also to a smaller LCD TV for more frequent use to show what songs are playing thru Apple TV - as this is my common usage. It seems that with the HDMI cable plugged into the Apple TV, it does not drive the component output. Is there some way to do this or do I have to go for an HDMI splitter?

HDMI takes precedence over component, so you can't use both at the same time. if HDMI is connected it will use that.

  • FCP + Motion: sharing Firewire video output

When developing in both FCP and Motion, I am using the Firewire video output to view my work on an external monitor.
This works fine when I work in each program separately.
But, when I have both programs simultaneously open and drag a Motion project directly into FCP, FCP gives me the error telling me that the Firewire video output is already being used for Motion.
Is there a way to seamlessly switch the Firewire output between the two programs when both programs are running concurrently?
My only solution now is to save the Motion project; close Motion; open FCP; and import the Motion project into FCP.
    Is there a better way?
Thanks, in advance, for any ideas.

  • How connect a 27 cinema display to HP Pavilion with VGA video output

how connect a 27 cinema display to HP Pavilion with VGA video output

If it is a thunderbolt version of the apple 27" display, you don't.  The TB displays can only work with a TB source.
I also think you are out of luck with the mini-displayport versions of the apple 27" as well.   This would imply converting an analog VGA output  to a digital input of the 27".  I suspect that there is not enough data supplied by VGA for that to work and I do not believe any adapters exist for this.

  • Apple DVI to Video Adapter working but not anymore

    Hello,
I have the Apple DVI to Video Adapter connected to standard TV via Rca, This had worked for a couple of months and suddenly the image went blur with some lines, it is hard to see something clear but I see the desktop on my TV. Is there something that I am missing? Configuration? I tested the Rca cable and it's fine..
    Many Thanks

On the TV side, I'll assume it works properly from other inputs and that controls on the TV's built-in menu did not get reset somehow.
On the Mac side, video output settings are stored in PRAM, so you could try resetting the PRAM if you haven't done that already.

  • Vga or dvi to video output to NTSC TV viewing

GEAR: I have a G4 dual 1.25 (silver double doors) with an ADC and DVI output in the back.
OBJECTIVE: I need to go from that to an NTSC TV so I can see what my edits look like.
NOT SURE: I have seen the Apple adapter (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/7200505/wo/0K4TK pkMz7f922WszZYxFQMUy31/1.0.19.1.0.8.25.7.11.2.3) but it says it is for the MAC mini and the G5 only... does that mean it won't work for me?
OPTION B: Is getting a video card with an RCA or S-video output a better idea? If so which one? I am using both the ADC and DVI ports for two monitors, but would nuke one if necessary because I have to get this TV viewing capability up and running.
OPTION C for CANOPUS: I have also thought about the Canopus ADVC 100 or 300 so I can capture video from sources other than my DV Sony DSR-30. Right now, I have to record everything (everything that isn't DV) to DV on the DSR-30 before turning around to send it via firewire for capturing in FCP. Would the Caopus ADVC 100 or 300 also solve the TV viewing problem as well?
    THANKS: in advance

Firewire to a DV/analog converter to your NTSC monitor. The only way for DV.
the DV/Analog converter can be either a dedicated converter (eg Canopus), a DV VTR deck (eg Sony DSR-11) or a camcorder.
the other options are not what you need.
    cherios,

  • Does the DVI-to-video adapter work on 8600GT macbookpros?

I have the newest 15" macbook pro (rev 3,1) with the 8600GT nvidia gpu. I bought the dvi-to-s-video output adapter on the online store, and I cannot get it to work - all I get is scrambled looking video, like I'm trying to watch a premium channel I haven't paid for. Has anyone else gotten this to work on the same hardware? And, if so, what are your display settings? I can't get it to work on either the mac or windows side, and I have tried just about every resolution/refresh rate available on both sides.

I've wondered about this myself. The product information page states "Use the DVI to Video Adapter to connect the DVI port on a Mac Pro (with ATI X1900 XT), MacBook Pro, or Mac mini to any S-video or Composite enabled device," which implies that you can use it. Except that it had the same language prior to the release of the SR MBPs with the Nvidia chips, and they clearly indicate a need for an ATI card with the Mac Pro.
I would give a call to Apple (or to an Apple Store if there's one close, just press 5 at the prompt to get a live person).
Please post back what you discover!
