80% failed internet and email server connections

We have two computers, mine described below and my husbands (iMac OSX 10.4.8 2GHz Intel Core Duo SDRAM, both with Airport extreme.)
we've had Adelphia High Speed Internet for a year with no problem; almost two weeks ago it switched over to Comcast and we've had trouble ever since. We've jumped through all the hoops Comcast put us through and a repairman came and gave us a new modem. He declared he knew nothing about Macs!! We are at a standstill now. Any ideas?
iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   1.33GHz PowerPC G4 processor, 512MB built in memory

IS there a situation with Mac 10.4..8s that prevent it from functioning properly?
No
If that were so, why would we have had NO problem with Adelphia and when they switched over to Comcast it hasn't been working?
Exactly! It is a Comcast issue not a Mac OS issue.
Of course the real kicker is that the Mac OS has absolutely nothing to do with the connection between the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) and the Comcast modem. The AEBS works just as well with Windows as it does with the Mac OS. What story would they be giving you if you were using Windows?

  • IBM WPS: Error While Creating App and Int Server Connections in JDev 10g

    Hi,
I have been struggling to create App Server and Int Server connections in JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 without any luck.
The JDeveloper is present on VM ware machine from which I'm trying to establish the connections to remote server where SOA Suite 10g is installed on IBM Websphere.
    My Settings:
    App Server:
    Connection Type: Standalone OC4J 10.1.3
RMI: tried WC_defaulthost port, 6003, RMI default port (How do I get the actual value of RMI on IBM Websphere and does this really make a difference?)
Connection test fails with Mbean error. Ignored this error as documented in Installation guide.
    Int Server:
Used the above App Server connection, gave the http port value of 9700 (also the WC_defaulthost on IBM Websphere)
Connection test fails for App Server, BPEL PM Server and ESB Server.
I have gone through other threads where different workarounds were suggested but none of them worked for me. The workaround of adding the property ipaddr with the value 0.0.0.0 in opmn.xml doesn't hold good here as IBM WPS doesn't have OPMN.
Please suggest a working solution for this issue.

    CC

The below message comes when you don't specify any default file for your webcenter portal application and this should not be any problem.
Target Portal.jpr is not runnable, using default target index.html.
Can you answer to my questions:
    1. Did you just created a new wcp application in jdev and ran it with out doing any changes? If you have done what are the changes?
    2. How did you ran your application? (right clicking a particular page or right clicking your portal project and selected "run" option?

  • BB 8703 OS4.5 internet and email stop, phone and sms still work

Just about every day, at seemingly random times, my internet and email quit working, with no warning.  Everything looks fine, and the phone and sms still send and receive, but no internet or email.  I first noticed no email past a point, say 10am that day, and then I tried intenet and it would not connect.  But phone calls in and out and sms worked.  So, I turned it off and back on, and I suddenly got all the queued up email, and the internet worked.
Any ideas?  Seems the network loses my internet and email, but still maintains my phone connection.
    Steve

OK give those a try...it may also be that you have many apps running that are causing conflicts. Check this:
There are three types of potential memory on a BB: 1) Application Memory, 2) Device Memory, and 3) Media/SD Card Memory
Application Memory -- This is the most crucial; it is the protected (not user accessible), dedicated, and fixed (in size) space that is available as the destination for the installation of applications (plus some application storage, overhead and such). You cannot touch AppMemory. You cannot improve the maximum AppMemory that your BB has. It is what it is. Applications can only install here...there is no option.
Device Memory -- This is space on your BB that you can touch to store files, pictures, media, etc. Typically, it is not terribly large, but it is available to you.
SD/Media Card Memory -- This is what it says...your SD card, for you to store files, media, pictures, etc. It can be as large as your BB OS can support...see this KB:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB05461
On some devices/OS levels, Device Memory and Application Memory are combined into "File Free"...these are, IMO, a little harder to administer as you really can't see well just how much AppMemory you have. Nevertheless, here are some guidelines to use:
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB15345
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB14320
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB14213
Lastly, it is always important to properly close applications when you are done with them. Using the Back or the Red key will not do this -- those leave it to the app to decide what to do...and some will leave themselves resident in memory, consuming resources on your BB, slowing the overall performance. Rather, to close an app, press the BBKey and select "Close" or "Exit"...that will force the application to be closed, freeing up for your new use the resources it was consuming. Some apps will always remain running (typically -- BBMessenger, Browser, Homescreen, Phone, and Messages)...but, you should still close them properly - especially the Browser...if it is left on an active web page, it will not only consume extra resources but battery power as well.
    Good luck!

  • My BBM, INTERNET AND EMAILS are DOWN !! HELP ME!

I have the Curve 8530 for Sprint, My BBM, Internet and Emails are down.  My son must have pressed something,  HELP ME ! Its probaby something simple. I removed the Batterey , and did the Advance Option, and Hosting Routing Table. If it sends an email to recieve it ....I havent recieved it. Nothing , Nada..

    Hi there!
I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB):
    1) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then also check, inside of Manage Connections, that your Data Services are active and connected to your carrier data network (upper case GSM, GPRS, 1XEV, 3G, or whatever it normallly shows...plus, in some cases, the symbol in the same area).
Good luck and let us know!

  • Calendar Server and Email Server on Same Machine - Email Issue

    Hi.
I've installed email and calendar on the same host. The email domain for test purposes is the name of the machine. I noticed in the configuration guide, it says that if you put the calendar server and email server on the same machine you need to configure sendmail.cf and modify incoming rules in order to get email reminders from Calendar to Email. I have done this but am still not able to. I get the emails kicked back to root and they say:
    553 5.3.5 System Config Errors
553 5.3.5 <machine name> config error: mail loops back to me (MX problem?)
    Has someone seen this before?
    Thank You,
    Matt

    Hi Russ,
We have the same problem as Matt.
We have properly set up OCS Email it works well both inside and outside our network.
The only thing that appears not to be working is the email notification capabilities of OCS Calendar.
We have changed sendmail.cf as stated in the documentantion.
    we are using -
    RedHat Advanced Server 2.1,
    sendmail 8.11.6
    bind 9.1.3
I would be very gratefull of any information on this, as we're out of ideas...

  • BB Torch- Email server connection lost since unlocking phone and constant buffering

Since unlocking my BB 9800 I can not received emails (cannot connect to the server).  I have WiFi and  can connect to the internet but not the server for emails.  Prior to unlocking I had no issues.  Also, is there a cure for the constant buffering?  This is the second handset with the same issue.   My provider is Vodafone and I am in medium term based in the US so having emails on my mobile (via Wifi) as my roaming is off is essential. Please help as Vodafone could not.

Vodafone have said it was a firmware or hardware issue... so Im i the piggy in the middle without emails as my roaming is switched off. Again, the only change was entering the code given to me from Vodafone and no more server connection.  can you get a second opinion please!

  • Failed internet and server

    Hello,
My new imac is giving green lights for Ethernet, Network settings and ISP but red for internet and server. I have another mac next to it which is fine through the same connection and the phone and ipad are fine on the wireless from the same router so its a problem specific to the mac. I have booted the mac from a bootable hard drive of a clone of the previous mac and it connects fine with all green lights so its something to do with the mac settings. I have compared the two macs and the settings are almost identical, IP addresses not clashing but DNS server is the same.
I am tearing my hair out and am thinking of a factory reset but it has a fusion drive and Im not sure how to go about that. It also says on the apple site that if you are going to do a reset make sure you are connected to the internet... but that my problem in the first place!
I really hope someone can help.
    Many Thanks.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Scan to email server connection error for HP Envy 5530

    Hi, Everyone!
I LOVE my printer.  But, I had to add another laptop (both WIndows) - and then had to add a couple of monitors to that laptop (and a docking statiion) and now it doesn't want to scan to my emails any longer after working like gangbusters for months.
I am connected just fine with an excellent signal - but now when I try the Scan to Email feature - a RED X immediately shows up on the right of the control pad and the message says: Server Connection Error. EVEN though I am wirelessly connected just dandy.
I am not a technical person in the least.  I have no idea what to do.  I tried all the turn off, turn on stuff.  Nothing is working.
    Thanks for our help!

    Hello MisoSilly,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand when you scan to email, you're receiving a message stating server connection error using the Envy 5530. I will do my best to assist you! Follow this entire thread on: Re: server connection error.
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
    Have a great night!

  • Timed out and losing server connections.

    Hey
for the past month i have been having problems using Ichat. I seem to be constantly timed out or lose server connections. I'm not very technical so sometimes looking at computer jargon makes my brain fuzzy!
I have changed the port to 443 and its still happening. I have a belkin router and BT is my isp.
It worked fine before (besides having to have a few attempts at voice connections before finally getting there)
It seems to drop connection often and its the whole net usage that is affected, it seems to drop then reboot itself and when logged on to ichat i have to manually sign out and back in again, then i get the message saying i'm connected in more than one location.
Last night it happened roughly 20 times in a three hour period, yet this morning its only happened on a few occasions.
I'm not totally sure what version i am using (like i said i'm a technophobe) all i know is my macbook is a year old. Nobody else uses the internet other than me.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks
    Any help would be great.

    Hi,
In this case a Server is normally something that distributes (Serves) an Internet Connection onwards to several other devices.
A modem can be a cable modem and not specifically serve as such and a router is needed behind that to "serve the LAN" as it were.
More specifically a Router or routing device such as a modem that routes will have a DHCP Server that automatically dishes out IP addresses (numbers) to the computers and other devices attached.
In Most devices the DHCP server can be turned Off but then the Computers have to be set to Static IPs (Manually in the Mac Network Preferences).
It takes very small breaks in service either in the routing device itself or from the ISP for iChat to notice.
Although most people think off Mail and Web Browsing to be Always On they only use the Connection intermittently when you get or send mail or change a web page.
iChat is communicating with the AIM Servers (Or Jabber/GoogleTalk) all the time so that you get a instant update to your Buddy list when people come and go Off line.
