80 GB Ipod frozen at Apple Logo Screen

All I can do with my Ipod is look at the Apple Logo Screen with the backlight lit up. Actually I can manually reset it by holding down Middle button and Menu button. But it turns right back on by itself and get stuck again. Just cant seem to do anything.

  • Ipod Touch frozen at apple logo screen

I try to turn on or reset my ipod and the apple logo appears and nothing happens. The ipod is not being recognized by itunes either? Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Augie

I have now had this freeze problem on two iPhone 3G's and now my iPod Touch 32 GB.
Here is what you have to do.
Plug your Touch into your computer via the USB cable
Now press both the top switch (sleep/wake) button and the home button at the same time. Hold these two buttons down until the iPod Touch powers down and then continue holding both down until the Apple logo reappears (reboot). As soon as the Apple logo reappears let go of the top button and continue holding the home button down for about 10-15 seconds. You will then get a screen that shows a USB cable to be connected to the iPod Touch (it's already connected). Now the iPOd Touch will mount and via iTunes you will get a message to restore.
Restore takes a while so be patient.
This is a huge headache and the worst of it is that if you have an iPhone you lose the use of the phone itself. If you are out and about you cannot restore so you are without a phone!
Hope this works for those of you having problems. Post here if you still have problems.

  • IPod Touch 4g 8gb is frozen on apple logo screen! HELP!!!

I rebooted mt iPod and now it is stuck on the apple logo screen. when i turn it off it turns right back on without me doing anything and it doesn't show up in itunes. i don't know what to do all the youtube videos don't work and i can't even restore it! HELP!!! I HAVE A MAC and IOS 6.1

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Frozen on Apple logo screen

I reset my iPod Touch by pressing both the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons. The Apple logo appeared as expected, but the iPod stayed frozen on this screen. Every so often the screen briefly "flashes" (like it's about to change to the welcome screen) but then it returns to the Apple screen.
I tried letting the iPod run out of power until the low battery icon appeared. When I connect it to either a Mac or a power supply, and once it charges up enough, the Apple logo appears again and it is frozen.
The iPod does not show up in iTunes. It is a 32Gb 2nd gen iPod Touch running 3.12 (I think) and has LOTS of applications.
    Any help greatly appreciated!

Thank you! The recovery procedure you linked to seems to be working, though it was slightly different for me than on the Apple site.
Specifically, when I held the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons, my iPod would eventually return to the Apple logo screen, rather than turning off. I found that if I held both buttons and waited for the screen to briefly go black, I could release the Sleep Wake button, and connect the iPod to my Mac, while continuing to hold the Home button.
It took a few tries, but eventually I got the iTunes dialog box (about recovery mode) and was then able to restore the iPod to its factory settings.
I am in now the midst of restoring my iPod to its most recent backup, and I'm hopeful that you've solved my problem. Many thanks!!

  • Problem: Ipod is flashing apple logo screen and beeping at me help

Hi hows it going? My 80 gig Ipod is flashing the apple logo screen and refuses to reset, and is not read by a computer. If you have any ideas that would be lovely. If it helps I got it to tell me to plug it into power once. I have since plugged it in but it still does not work.

    See if these help.
iPod shows only an Apple logo and doesn't start up.
Only the Apple logo appears when turned on.

  • Ipod stuck on apple logo screen

just tonight when I went to eject my ipod from the computer I noticed that it just shows the grey screen with the apple logo then it flashes a black screen for a second and back to the apple logo it keeps doing that and I can't seem to restart it. I have no idea what to do. I don't even know what happened it was working totally fine earlier today. Also I tried plugging it back in to the computer and it's not even recognizing that it is there. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have alot of stuff on there I'd really rather not lose

I had same thing happened. I sent it into apple who said there was broken glass in the headphone. I thought that was weird. I received the ipod back and they said my warranty was broken. I looked in the head phone jack, there was no glass. I never had any problem with the head phone. It hasn't had a fall or anything. Now I feel like I frozen out of any help. I don't know if they were looking at the wrong ipod or what. I have no idea what to do now. It is so frustrating because I think there might be a software solution. I can install music and uninstall music at itunes. I guess if nothing else it is a still a really crappy flash drive that will only store music and videos. But I am really frustrated. Please let me know if you find anything out.

  • IPod sticks on Apple logo screen, then turns off

    Hey everyone.
This just began happening about 30 minutes ago. After un-plugging my iPod (I think i did everyhting right, I followed all of the procedures), my iPod showed the black screen with the Apple logo on it. Ever since then, the iPod has been making a clicking noise and the black screen with the Apple logo on it will light up for about 10 seconds, the light will go off, the ipod will turn off for a second or so, and then repeat this process.
    Thanks alot.
P.S.- I have already tried the 5 R's. I have tried hooking up my iPod the the cable that charges it and my computer wont even notice that the iPod is attached. I have also let the battery run out, and then recharging my Ipod and trying again, the same thing happens.

After trying every other opetion, with no success, I went to Best Buy and got a new one (thank god for warranties.)
They informed me that it was a dead hard drive. If this problem is still happening for anyone, the best thing to do is to take it to the store you bought it from and, as long as you have a warranty, they will issue you a new iPod.

  • IPOD frozen on Apple Logo

My IPOD died a couple of days ago. I had the same trouble as a lot of people reformatting my IPOD - it kept asking me to do it over and over again.
I tried reformatting it in FAT32. When I went to try reformatting my IPOD in ITUNES again, it went through, but now the APPLE logo is frozen on my IPOD.
I have been without my IPOD for about a week now and I am really starting to miss it.

i got the same problem n when i reset it just shows the apple till my battery dies

  • 5G iPod stuck at apple logo screen - will not finish booting, just restarts

I just got off the phone with Apple.
    Has anyone had this occur.
I had to reset my iPod a few hours ago, it never made it past the brighter apple logo. It looks like it's about to turn back on and then decides "let's try that again" and clicks back to the fainter logo screen. It's been looping like that for over two hours now. I need to let it drain now, but the apple tech didn't sound too hopeful.
just wondering if anyone else has had an iPod die this way...

  • IMac Frozen on Apple Logo Screen at Bootup

Yesterday, I tried to go on Safari and it froze. I tried to soft reboot, and the computer would not let me. I had to hard shut down with the power button. When the screen came back up it was frozen with the Apple logo and progress circle spinning. I had to power off again with the power button. I tried to reboot in Safe Mode but it would not enter Safe Mode; still frozen as before. I tried Command + R to get to the Disk Utility. I ran the Verify Disk and everything was good for HD, no problems. However the system still will not reboot. I then tried to do Verify Permissions and several items came up about the library and printer not matching the settings it should. I clicked the Repair Permissions and it ran through the cycle, but the reboot problem continues. About two weeks ago, my MS Word was reporting errors for space, but the computer is 1TB and I've barely reached 250 GB of data on the system. It was running my Word slow. What next? Any ideas are welcome. Thanks!

You could have a hard drive problem or even though you "THINK" you have only used 250GBs of HDD space something on your Mac has filled up the drive to the point OS X can no longer boot properly because it doesn't have enough space on the drive.
What I would do is install OS X on an external drive and run the system from that drive and do a check of the actual HDD space being used on the internal drive.
One of the things that can fill up a drive is the Time Machine local snapshots. But that is only turned on by default on notebook Mac computers. There are other So Called Cleaning and maintenance apps that can do this also. If you have installed any of them you should remove it, once you get your system running from the internal drive.

  • Ipod touch frozen on apple logo screen

I've seen all the posts about restoring and all that, but I don't want to lose my notes and contacts and stuff. Is there any other way??
    Please help. Thank you

It's not jailbroken, and no it won't be recognized. But I was searching around the other discussions here and they say that I should hold the home/power buttons until it turns off then on again, then continue to hold the home buttonuntil itunes recognizes it and tells me to restore.
Are you sure restore won't get rid of my notes?
