802.11n* Enabler will not install

hey guys.
I have purchased my copy of the 802.11n* Enabler for my 20" iMac Core 2 Duo 2GHz, but I keep getting a message saying "Your computer does not meet the hardware requirements for this update.".
My iMac meets all of the requirments as far as I know (Leopard 15.5)
I also tried installing it on my Macbook (Tiger 14.9) but I get the same message.
any thoughts as to why this is and how I can fix it??

Airport Extreme refers to my wireless card build it right, and not my router (which is not an airport, but is an "n").
Apple uses the term "AirPort Extreme" for the built-in wireless on the newer Macs so it tends to get confusing when they use the same term for their base stations. In this case, the "n" enabler is a firmware update to the built-in AirPort Extreme in your iMac. Similarly the "AirPort Extreme Update 2007-002" is a software update for this same built-in device. All firmware updates to the base station itself are done through the AirPort Utility.
I'm not sure why you are having difficulty updating your iMac as it appears, according to your description, to be eligible. To double-check, that it may already be installed take a look at this Apple article: How to tell if 802.11n-enabling software is installed

802.11n Enabler does not work!

I have a MacBookPro with Core Duo. I bought an AirportExtreme Basestation and installed the software... it showed me that it also installed the 802.11n Enabler. BUT: when I go to the network utility program and select "en1" it still only shows a/b/g compatibility. I re-installed a few time, but it wouldn't change.
This, of course, has also the effect that when selecting the 5GHz 802.11n at the basestation, my computer wouldn't find the basestation at all (have to reset it afterwards).

The 802.11n enabler works in Macs with the Core 2 Duo processors, not the Core Duo. I understand that you can upgrade the wireless card by buying a replacement from Apple.

802.11n enabler won't install on 10.5.3

I just did a system re-install (upgraded my HD) today. When I was still running Tiger, I bought and installed the 802.11n enabler. Today, the enabler won't install. I am now running OS 10.5.3. I made sure the appropriate Airport Extreme updates are applied.
The error message I get is "You cannot install AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
Any ideas?

802.11n enabler doesn't install on C2D

I've just purchased the 802.11 enabler and doesn't install in a MacBook core 2 duo 15'4"
well, it's a core 2 duo, it's intel chipset, and it's one of the suitable machines typ for this update, as read in Apple store specs so, What's the matter?
The full error message is: "This volume does not meet the requirements for this update" when I try to install it in the main HD.
Need help. Thx a lot.

ok, I guessed so, but my laptop it's up to date 'cause I usually search for new updates once a week.
Despite of that, I'll look for new updates on airport hardware and so. If you know the lastest version or patch for it it would be useful to me to know it, so I'll have no doubt about wich one to install.

802.11n Enabler won't install

I have a 2-week old MBP Core 2.
When I run the installer I get;
You cannot install...on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update.
The installer reports 90.5GB Free on my only HD; the software requires 112KB.
Anybody else had this problem, or know where I'm going wrong?
MBP Pro 2.33, 2GB, 160GB HD Mac OS X (10.4.8)

So, why didn't Apple either fold the update into the enabler download, or hire someone that can build an installer that checks and advises on prerequisites? Every other software company, M$ included, seem to have lots of people that can do this
As a recent switcher I'm not impressed with Apple's approach to this update.
A bonus is that the update has fixed a problem I had connecting to my Linksys WRT300N. Before today I had to turn Airport off/on to recover the connection to the router, every 5mins or so.
I'd just add that I've had the WRT300N for about 6mths or so and it's been the single most frustrating piece of kit I've ever used at home or work.

802.11n enabler not installing on Leopard

If you have Leopard installed, the enabler must be included in the install because I followed the directions listed on that page...
+Before purchasing the 802.11n Enabler software, please check to make sure that your Mac does not already have the 802.11n enabler already installed.+
+Open Network Utility (found in the Applications > Utilities folder)+
+Under the Info Tab, choose Network Interface (en1)+
+In the section "Model: Wireless Network Adapter," if it says (802.11a/b/g/n), you already have the 802.11n enabler installed. If it says (802.11a/b/g), you do not have the 802.11n enabler installed.+
I looked and mine says a/b/g/n so its already installed and I didn't download that enabler. You may way want to try uninstalling it. Hope that helps, good luck

802.11n Enabler for MacBook Pro not included

Apple's page about the Airport Extreme Base Station says, "Most new Mac computers ship with built-in 802.11n wireless support that can be easily enabled with the installation of enabler software included with new AirPort Extreme wireless base station (see sidebar)."
Yesterday I purchased the Airport Extreme 802.11n WiFi Wireless Base Station (Model MB053ZA/A A1143). I have installed it OK and it is running fine. But I now want to "enable" 802.11n on my MacBook Pro but can not figure out how to do it.
I have searched everywhere through the box and looked everywhere on the one install disk (disk version 2.1 2Z681-6107-A) but I can not find anything that looks like enabler software for the WiFi network card in my MacBook Pro 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo. The en1 page in Network Utility shows Model: Wireless Network Adapter (802.11 a/b/g).
How is the enabler normally shipped in the AirPort Extreme wireless base station package? On a separate disk? On the install disk? As a free download?

There were several MacBook Pro models with 2.16 GHz Intel Core Duo processors. Your computer must be have a Core 2 Duo processor to qualify for the enabler.
How is the enabler normally shipped in the AirPort Extreme wireless base station package? On a separate disk? On the install disk? As a free download?
There is only a single installation disk that is provided with the base station. The enabler software is located within the AirPort.mpkg package. There is a download, but it is not free. (ref: AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler for Mac)

802.11n Enabler Doesn't Want To Install

I have a new MacBook 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and when I downloaded the new Airport Extreme 802.11n Enabler it tells me that my computer doesn't have the correct hardware. I am missing something here? Everything I have read tells me that this should work and this hardware should be built in. Let me know if you have any insights...thanks

Are you certain that your MacBook has the 'Core 2 Duo'? There are 2 different 2 GHz MacBooks. One has a 'Core Duo' processor and the other has a 'Core 2 Duo' processor.
Go to the Apple menu and select "About this Mac". It will tell you what type of processor your MacBook has.
If your MacBook does have a 'Core 2 Duo' processor, ensure that you have installed the AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001.

Installing 802.11n enabler?

I have just purchased a new Airport Extreme (802.11n) and installed the Airport Utility included on the accompanying CD. The installation process said it was also installing the 802.11n enabler software. However when I run Network Utility, my network interface is still listed as "Wireless Network Adapter (802.11 a/b/g)".
I noticed that the installer DID install a file called "AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler.pkg" on my hard drive. But when I launch this manually I get the error: "Your computer does not meet the hardware requirements for this update".
My machine is a 15" MacBook Pro with a Core Duo 1.83GHz processor. My understanding is that this should be compatible with the "n" enabler (I believe apple's specs say all MacBook Pros are compatible). Why isn't it being enabled correctly? Is it not compatible for some reason?

Sorry, but your MacBook Pro must have the Intel Core 2 Duo chip to be eligible for the "n" enabler.

AirPort Extreme 802.11n* Enabler not working

Hello, I just installed the Time Capsule software onto my 1st gen MacBook. I saw that it installed the AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler, but after looking at the network utility. All that show up is: Wireless Network Adapter (802.11 a/b/g), it does not give the little 'n.' I ran the installer twice, but no joy. Any help would be great!

Go to the Apple menu and select about this Mac. Does it say "Intel Core Duo" or "Intel Core 2 Duo"?
Only the Macs with "Intel Core 2 Duo" processors have the 802.11n hardware. If you Mac book has the "Intel Core Duo" processor the enabler is useless.

Airport Extreme 802.11n Enabler wont install

i just bought the Airport Extreme 802.11n Enabler for my MacBook Intel Core Duo. when i opened the disk image and tried to install, i got an alert saying my computer does not meet the hardware requirements - even though it is a MacBook Intel Core Duo.
i followed all instructions on the Apple Store page before purchasing, including checking my Network Utility to verify whether i needed the software. currently i only have the 802.11 a/b/g adapter. see:

Your computer needs to be a Core 2 Duo-based Mac for the enabler to install, as the necessary hardware isn't present on an older processor or a 1.83GHz 17-inch iMac. If your computer supports the enabler, install this software and try installing the enabler again.

How to install AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler?

I just bought the Airport Extreme and I have the CD that came with it loaded. I'm installing the package that is on the CD and it reads that the following items are available for installation and one of them is the Airport Extreme 802.11n Enabler. I "continue" and it only allows me to do a basic upgrade. How do I know that the Enabler was correctly installed and I can now access using 802.11n?
I have a MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.33Ghz

Steve, fire up your Network Utility. You can find it in your Utilities folder. From the row of tabs across the top of the window select "Info" - the first option on the left. Nxt select the "network interface for information". You'll be wanting "(en1)". At the bottom of the info you'll see an entry for "Model Wireless Network Adapter". In parenthesis under this title will be "802.11" and some letters. If you see a letter "n" then it means the enabler did its thang!
To actually select how your computer will communicate with that little white box with the green light on the front (um...it is green, isn't it?) then fire up your Airport Utility. Select "Manual" setup. Make sure you have the Airport icon highlighted at the top of the window then select the "Wireless" tab. The "Radio Mode" entry is where you do your bit to select "g", "n" or whatever in 2.4GHz or 5GHz.
I find it best to do one thing at a time. Slower but at least I can undo the mess easily.

Does anyone know what I'm getting this. based on the spec that apple give on the enabler page this should work.

802.11n enabler (AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001/2007-001 update)

I'm thinking of getting time capsule and then getting the 802.11n enabler.
On the UK apple store(http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=17BDE0AD&fnode= home/shopmac/mac_accessories/airportwireless&nplm=D4141) it states i need the AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001, but I can't find it.
On the US store (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?find=en abler) it states i need the AirPort Extreme Update 2007-002 update. I found that one and downloaded it but when trying to install it says "This volume does not meet the requirements for this update".
What do I need to to get this update??
Do I already have it??
Am I even able to get 802.11n??
Any help will be welcomed
For clarification these are my specs taken from system profiler.
Model Name: iMac
Model Identifier: iMac5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
Memory: 2 GB

So it looks like I can't get 802.11n on my mac then. Oh well, good excuse for a new mac.
The apple store is quite misleading then it says you need either:
MacBook Pro with Intel Core 2 Duo
MacBook with Intel Core 2 Duo
Mac Pro with AirPort Extreme option
iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo (except the 17-inch, 1.83GHz iMac)
I have the latter iMac with Intel Core 2 Duo (2.16Ghz), will probably get time capsule anyway though.
