802.1x - Compatible with SHA256/KSP/v3 or v4 templates?

I'm preparing to implement a new PKI (two-tier, 2012 R2) in our environment, and we are also implementing 802.1x (on wired, currently, with wireless to come). All clients in the enterprise are Windows 7.  I've been researching what is supported in relation
to certificate templates, hash algorithms, and cryptography providers.  Everything I've seen so far states that 802.1x only works with v2 templates, SHA-1 hashing.
Has this changed at all in the past two years or so (latest documentation I could find on certificate template versions being compatible with 802.1x)?  Is any combination of SHA256, Key Storage Providers, and/or v3 or v4 certificate templates supported
with 802.1x authentication?

I have a supplemental question regarding the 2003 update (KB968730).  I have a Kace KBOX that we do patching/inventory of our servers with, and it tells me that all of our 2003 servers are patched with KB968730.  However, when looking at one of
the 2003 servers, I didn't see KB968730 in the updates list, nor in the registry.  After some research, it appears that the crypt32.dll file on the server now is already a newer version than the one in the KB968730 (it contains the version of crypt32.dll
from MS14-049 in August 2014).  I went ahead and installed KB968730 anyways on the server, and it now shows up in the updates list.  However, the crypt32.dll file was unaffected on the machine since it was already newer.
Upon reading the install log for KB968730, it seems that all the update did was add registry keys to say that the KB968730 was installed, but did not replace the crypt32.dll file, and no reboot was needed.
I believe this will be the case for all of my 2003 R2 servers.  With the actual payload of the KB968730 being the crypt32.dll (and wcrypt.dll for x64), and those files already being newer than on my servers than what is in the KB968730, would it just
be considered to be SHA2 supported...or would the presence of the reg keys that state the hotfix is installed be needed (sounds pointless to me)?
EDIT: Not to mention that the KB968730 update never specifically mentions 2003 R2, just 2003.  The install log shows failures during file version checks and other lines, so it really looks like it simply added the registry info for the hotfix and
that's all.

Is my AirPort Extreme base station A1034 (802.11g) compatible with Comcast 50 Mbps internet service?

The WAN port on the A1034 will handle up to a 100 Mbps Internet connection, so you are OK there.
Wireless on the A1034 is limited to 54 Mbps tops, so things should work OK as long as wireless devices can receive a strong wireless signal from the Apple router.

  • L530 with Centrino 6205 - compatible with 5GHz 802.11n?

I have L530 with Centrino Advanced-N 6205 wireless built-in. The computer does not see any of the n networks I have setup (either 2.4GHz or 5GHz). When I get advanced properties on the centrino adapter, the "Wireless mode" shows only a/b/g options and not n.
Is the 6205 adapter compatible with 802.11n? If yes, how can I enable it? I have the latest drivers installed thru Lenovo Thinkvantage Tools app.

    According to Intel, that's a dual-band "N" card.
See their recommendations on setup here:

    Two questions:
    a) What type of encryption do you have on the router?
    b) Are other devices able to connect with the router on the "N" networks?

  • Express 802.11n model A1264 not compatible with Mountain Lion?

I have an airport Express 802.11n model A1264.  I have been using  it with Mountain Lion for a couple of months.  Some problems but it worked.  Last nite it stopped. - flashing orange light.  I am using Airport Utility version 6.1.  The helpful? lady at apple support said that model of Airport Express (Gen 1 ) was not compatable with Mountain Lion and I need to get a Generation 2 Airport Express.  Is there any other solution?

Hardware failure is a possibility but your Express is most certainly compatible with your version of Mac OS X.
    weaversue wrote:
...  I had pushed in the reset button on the AU Express -
To properly reset it to factory defaults requires that you depress its reset button continuously for about five seconds - long enough for the LED to flash rapidly, then release it.
After this the Express will create an open wireless network called "Apple Network nnnnnn" where nnnnnn = a set of characters unique to your Express.
Connect to that network by selecting it in the menu.
Launch AirPort Utility. It should find the Express.
If you are still having trouble unplug the Express and plug in to an electrical outlet near your iMac. Not only does this make it easier to perform another "hard reset" should you need to, it minimizes the potential for wireless interference to prevent communication. There is no need to have it connected to your modem as you configure it.
Only after doing all this should you begin to suspect the Express has simply failed. In that case bring it back to Apple for a final determination.
Don't let them tell you it is not compatible with Mountain Lion because I use the exact same one all the time. Even its preceding model is compatible.

I am Sharjil Ahmed from Kolkata, India, and had bought theHP Deskjet 1050 All-in-One Printer - J410a [Product Model: CH346A] from an online shopping website www.crazeal.com on 18 December, 2011, where the product information consisted that I will be provided HP 62 small black ink cartridge HP 62 small tri-color ink cartridge along with the product. However, the box consisted of HP 61 small black ink cartridge HP 61 small tri-color ink cartridge.
I also registered my product on 03 January, 2012, and found out that the ink cartridges which are compatible with my printer are HP 802 Black ink cartridge (CH563ZZ) and purchased the same, but when i tried to take a printout a message appeared that HP 802 Black ink cartridge is not compatible. • Powerbook G3 (WallStreet) OSX compatible with  PCMCIA Belkin WiFi 802.11G ?

    Hello
Do you know it the PCMCIA card Belkin WiFi 802.11G sold on the Apple Store is compatible with an old Powerbook G3 WallStreet (without USB and Firewire)?
I will install the macOsX 10.3 system on it.
    Thanks for your help

    Michel,
Belkin has had a variety of wifi PC cards with confusing model numbers and version numbers.
The Belkin F5D7010: Supposedly there are three versions(!); v1 and v2 supported Apple's AirPort software (Mac OS X 10.2.8 or newer and AirPort 3.1.1 or newer) since it used the Broadcom chipset. Then v3 was released and it was no longer supported by AirPort. BelKin then released drivers for v3 which apparently solved the problem.
The Belkin F5D7011: This card supposedly uses the Broadcom chipset and is fully supported by AirPort.

Or you could buy one of these cards where there is no question about support:

  • AirPlay Compatible with older generation AirPort Express?

    Hi everyone,
We are building a new flat and I am planning on installing ceiling speakers into each of the rooms. I will have the speakers connected into Airport Express units so that I can stream audio to different rooms.
Question, the older generation (2004/2005, M9470LL/A) model Airport Express was compatible with AirTunes. Is it also compatible with streaming audio through AirPlay? Or does this ONLY work with the new AirPort Express (802.11n model)?
I am running a 802.11g (and ethernet) network currently so don't require the new 802.11n function of the new AirPort Express, would prefer to go with the cheaper option and buy the older generation if it is compatible with AirPlay.
    Thanks!

AirPlay requires that the AirPort Express Base Station run 7.4.2 or later firmware. In turn, this version of firmware can only run on the 802.11n base stations ... so, the older 802.11g Express will not fully support AirPlay.

  • Airport Utility 6.1 is incompatible with older Airport Express. Apple suggests to use Airport Utility 5.6 but it isn't compatible with Lion. How can I use Airport Utility?

I have an Airport Express 802.11b/g, model nº A1084. Mac OS X 10.7.4. When I run Airport Utility it says that the version (6.1) isn't compatible with the base station and suggests to use the version 5.6. I try to download and install it but a message says that the version of Mac OS is not compatible with this version of Airport Utility. Apple is trying to make me crazy?

Thank you Bob for the correct link. To be honest I have no idea how you found that. The Airport 6.1 utility gives the message that 5.6 is needed, and the link unhelpfully just goes to the US support home (I am UK for a start…) - and endless navigating eventually gets you to 'other Airport Utility Software' - and there is, the incorrect version for Lion…
I have managed to setup the Express using the software link you provided :-)
iteachcoffee - workaround - get someone with Lion on a laptop, or better, Pre-Lion so you don't have to download the special software  (like the wonderful Snow Leopard for example) and set up your Airport with that.
The Apple answer I'm sure is simply: Get a newer Airport! ;-) (annoying I know, my old one works perfectly!)

  • What mp3 player is compatible with my gigawork speake

I have recently bought a set of gigaworks s750 speakers and I am having trouble finding out which mp3 players are compatible with them, any help would be appreciated.

    Every one of them.
Your iBook G4 has 802.11b/g capability. So you wouldn't be able to use the latest 802.11n technology. All of the base stations with 802.11n can be configured to operate in an 802.11b/g compatible mode.

  • DI-624 Compatible with Macbook?

    hey everyone,
tomorow i plan on purchasing a macbook, however ive thought up a concern that might be a problem. The macbook is listed as having 802.11n Wi-Fi. Now the wireless router i have at home is a D-Link DI-624. According to the D-Link website it is 802.11g and 802.11b compatible (http://www.d-link.ca/products/?pid=6&sec=2). Will i still be able to connect via wireless to the router since the macbook is "n"?
    any help is appreciated!
    Eric

I used my Macbook (late 2006 Core2Duo) with a DI624 for several months. Worked OK for me, limited to 'g' speeds, of course.
Your results may vary - DI624 was around a long time, and has several hardware and firmware revisions.
