808 / Belle FP1 and sipgate.de: outbound connectio...

Hi,
I am having trouble configuring my Pureview 808 with sipgate.de. I followed the Nokia instructions found on sipgate.de and elsewhere on the web. I made my way through installing the necessary addon, configuring STUN and so on and almost everything is working. Almost - save for the fact that outbound calls are being disconnected deterministically after 60 seconds. Of course I have enought balance on my account, and when I use PhonerLite instead of the Nokia over the very same WLAN, oubound calls do not get disconnected. So the problem is somwehter within the 808 or its settings.
Here is what I did to configure sipgate on the 808:
Settings > Connections > Management Settings > Network Settings > Advanced VoIP settings > Create New Service, Create new SIP profile
Username: [email protected]
Password: y.....
Presence settings? -> no
Settings > Connections > Management Settings > Network Settings > Advanced VoIP settings > SIP settings
sipgate.de > Proxy Server
Proxy Server Address:  sipgate.de
Realm: none
Port: 5060
Username & Password as above
Settings > Connections > Management Settings > Network Settings > NAT/Firewall settings > sipgate.de
> STUN Settings
STUN server address: stun.sipgate.net
STUN server port: 3478
Username & Password as above
Settings > Connections > Management Settings > Network Settings > NAT/Firewall settings > sipgate.de
Used NAT protocol: nokia.stun
TCP NAT bind refresh timer 1200
UDP NAT bind refresh timer 28
CRLF refresh On
Then I can start the Contacts app and switch to the Sipgate tab and click on login, after which the following features work:
- Outbound calls for less than 60 seconds
- Inbound calls for any duration.
However, outbound calls get disconnected exactly after 60 seconds.
The problem is operator agnostic. It occurs via 3G (O2 Germany, which allows SIP) as well as via Wi-Fi on my home network. The AP is a D-Link DAP 1522 and the gateway is a Draytek Vigor 2850, with no particular firewalling configured apart from the fact that it of course does NAT.
I have read somewhere that this might be due to the Nokia client not acknowledging some sort of TCP/IP requests sent by the login, proxy and/or STUN servers, because of which the servers terminate the connection on the wrong assumption that is is dead.
Could any SIP guru comment on what I could try to do to stop the automated disconnect after 60 seconds?

Tobias

Hi,
I got a replay from the sipgate.de support. They say that this happens when the keep alive messages from their servers do not reach my Nokia device and suggested setting up a port foward.
However, the point of using STUN servers is not having to do port forwarding (as is confirmed: when I use Phonerlite rather tha nthe Nokia on the same WLAN, outbound calls are not being disconnected even though there is no port forward), and also when in a 3/3,5 G environment obviously I cannot set up a port forward.
To this sipgate.de replied that they "did not know whether it would be possible to set up "re-register" to a value below 60 s for the Nokia client.
I asked them for more detail, but no reply so far.
I tried to play with TCP NAT bind refresh timer, UDP NAT bind refresh timer (setting to values below 60), CRLF refresh (on/off), SIP seesion interval (3600/1800/0), but all to no avail.
Help, please! :-). Phonerlite works via stun without any port forwarding on the same WLAN, so there /must/ be a way to make the Nokia client work!

Tobias

    Thanks for your answer.
But I'm confident that FP1 reduced battery performance by 50% for sure.
Never expected this, It's like if you want to gain something you have to lose something.

  • Pureview 808 Belle FP1- WiFi issues

IMO there is a bug in the Belle FP 1 firmware on
the Pureview 808 that prevents reliable use of Wi-
Fi. The underlying Wi-Fi connection works
flawlessly, but there is a problem with apps not
having available access points to actually access
the working Wi-Fi connection. So randomly some apps claim they cannot get network access while
other work well at the very same time, and the
only way to fix this is to completely disable Wi-Fi
and mobile internet, close all apps, then start
from scratch until the problem occurs the next
    time.
I think the problem is with the setting....earlier the apps had their own access point.....this was done from setting/phone/installated applications /nd dn we use to change their access individually but now in belle theirs nothing like that.....

Since Symbian/S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, there are destinations and a default connection. Some apps are updated and use that. Some old, do not. If you have problems with the newer apps, then your phone is misconfigured. Wi-Fi at priority 1? Default = Internet destination?

  • 808 - search button and more

    Hi,
I bought an 808 and have two questions:
    1. On the home screen there's a search button that I don't use at all (like this). How do I disable it (like this)?
    2. There's a date tag in my gallery being created every day I take a photo. How do I disable it?
    3. Just in case Nokia should ever decide to make the maps for Symbian no more downloadable, is there any way to download them to my computer and install in the phone later, when I need them? Or do I need to buy a huge memory card and download all the maps (>12 GB) to it?

    Vojta98,
The universal search icon is integrated and cannot be disabled. The second image you have provided is a screenshot of an earlier firmware for the 808 (Belle FP1).
Date tags can be renamed or removed by long pressing on a particular date tile inside the gallery.
For your third question, I advise downloading each map then transfer it to a computer or an external storage device. More information about this procedure can be found on AllAboutSymbian.

  • Problem with belle fp1 on nokia 701

i updated my nokia 701 phone to belle fp1 and i really like the new features that came with. Since the upgrading, i do encounter problem with the phone. The phone may fail to recieve network while others are, or switching itself on and off continuosly until i restore it back to factory settings. This always make me to loose a lot of applications i have downloaded. It is painful because i have restored it to factory settings more than 5times within 5months. I'm afraid of upgrading to fp2 now. Pls enlighten me on how to solve this problem.

    Hi Heerkhmye,
Sorry to hear that you are still having problems with your 701. It appears you have tried everything, so apart from performing a three-finger hard reset, and this not working, then your only option is to take your phone to your local Nokia Care point for them to take a look at.
Let us know how you get on.

  • Nokia 700 and Belle FP1 (Product Code 059L5V1)

My unlocked Nokia 700 (Product Code 059L5V1) never got the Belle FP1 upgrade, and so far hasn't got FP2 several months on from release. Can someone from Nokia advise -
    1. Why not - it's unlocked, and so far I've used it on both O2 and Vodafone Contracts
    2. It's a UK model to my knowledge
    3. When am I likely to get it / how can I get it.
I was fobbed off with FP1 and so far all requests to Nokia have again been fobbed off with a combination of "it's your network provider" or "it will be soon" - this was months ago. Now that there are no longer any (to my knowledge) Service Centre's in the UK that isn't an option either.
I've always been a loyal Nokia customer - but this is really starting to annoy me now (and the lack of support on this matter from Nokia).
Please can one of the Nokia mods / employees look into this and advise what is going on here ?

    hi mate,
sorry to hear your frustration. the way it works is that your phone has a product code. now, if your phone is a branded handset (e.g. Vodafone with all their custom wallpapers and apps), then you need to get in touch with them regarding availability of the update. it may be the case that they have not approved the update, even though Nokia has contacted them and said here you can have it.
in the other case, your phone is a country variant (which is what it sounds like to me), and is dependent on your region's Nokia Care approving the update and making their own customisations to it. it happens sometimes, but the regional Nokia doesn't approve the update, and therefore it is never released to the end user. this is an unbranded handset. therefore, unbranded is different to having an unlocked phone. you will need to persist with your Nokia Care in this case regarding the update: http://nokia.com/support
You know I've heard those lines so many times it's beginning to sound like cut-and-paste.
The fact that he mentioned PRODUCT CODE in the subject line is a fair indication that he knows that his phone has a PRODUCT CODE.
My 059L5V1 is a country variant which was both unbranded and unlocked.  It now has the 059G2D1 generic EU FP2 firmware on it.  I'm not allowed to say how I achieved this, or I'll get banned.
If it wasn't for the fact my 808 is so good I would have given up on Nokia by now.

  • Questions on FP1, FP2, Belle Refresh and availabil...

    Hello,
First things first: Note that my post is not intended to ask when Belle Refresh will be available for my phone. I have been reading a lot about this topic, on this and many other forums, and know by now that I need to be patient and wait for Belle Refresh to be available for my Nokia N8-00.
    My questions are:
Among the many things I read, one caught me completely off-guard. It stated that Belle Refresh might be discontinued for older phones like the N8 because of the many hardware limitations, the many reported issues and the complexity of the deployment for the many different product codes. Is there any truth to it?
Can someone please explain what the FP1, FP2 and Belle Refresh features are, what the release sequence is, and why these updates have not been released simply as "Symbian Belle updates" and identified by a sequential software version number?
Lately, I have noticed that there are more and more apps for Symbian "disappearing" from the Store. I noticed this when I tried to reinstall a home-banking application after a full phone-reset/reinstall and I was not able to find that app on the Store anymore. The Store's support was not able to help and recommended to contact the software provider. So I did. Their answer was pretty straightforward: "We are not developing applications for Symbian anymore because it's an obsolete and unsupported platform." (sic) Other software development companies gave me similar answers (anyone can contact and ask Soft Pauer, a company that develops a Formula 1 app. This company is the official software provider for "Formula One World Championship Limited" and disregarded the Symbian platform as a target for the official Formula 1 mobile app last year). My question: Has anyone in this forum also heard something like this? If so, why is Nokia telling us they will support and promote Symbian until 2014?
    Thank you!

The Nokia Belle Refresh was just released about a week ago or so. So, even if there is indeed Nokia Belle FP2 Refresh or whatsoever for these phones, it might take (Probably) months for it to released. In anyhow, we will never know when will it released or even if there IS Nokia Belle FP2 for Nokia 500 or older.
If I have helped you in any way, give me a kudos!

  • Nokia 808 FP1 and Nokia 701 FP1

    hi
i have nokia 701 with FP1 ...but i heard that there is differences between nokia 701 fp1 and the one in nokia 808 pureview like the text clock ,note widget and the new music player ...when this upates are coming for the nokia 701 ...And I didnt get the Skydrive update till now on my Nokia 701
    and thnx

yeas, there a couple of minor differences between the 808 and 701 with the same os version.t hese are becuase the fp1 is specially built for the 808 while the devices like 7011 are g=not getting it out of the box rather they getting as an update.there are differences between updated os and built in os.those handsets, which get an os built in,have some features which are especially and exclusively made for them like the ones you've described whereas if some other device gets it too,it gets it as an addition;not a basic element.

    Hi!
I just wanted to ask how can I reinstall my software on my 701. There is no longer that option after I updated to Belle FP1. I tought it was due to corupted nokia suite, but I also tried on my laptop, and using stand alone nokia software updater 3. They always showed the option to reinstall the OS. • Wi-Fi bug in Belle FP1/FP2 was addressed

    Hi everyone,
This week Nokia Beta Labs team released a fix for the Wi-Fi disconnect / limited connectivity that plagued Belle FP1 / FP2 devices when these were connected with older wi-fi routers. It seems that the fix really does its magic :-)
    Check it out here: http://betalabs.nokia.com/trials/wlan-software-update
Looking forward to a global final release via SW update (OTA) / Nokia Suite asap.
Thanks again to the product team at Beta Labs for addressing what used to be a major connectivity issue.
    Previous (starting with '99): 5110 (2 pcs.); 6110; 6150 (2 pcs.); 6210; 6310i; 6680; N70; N73; N82 Silver; N97 Transition Black; N97 mini Cherry Black; iPhone 3GS 16GB Black; iPhone 4 16GB Black; N8-00 Dark Grey; iPhone 4S 16GB Black; iPhone 5s 32GB Space Gray
    Current: 808 PureView Black (Nokia Belle FP2, v113.010.1507) & iPhone 6 64GB Space Gray (iOS 8.1.2)

That's normal and is there to help extend battery life. It only takes a few seconds to reconnect to wifi.

  • 808 Belle FP2 gallery missing features

Nokia 808 Belle FP2's gallery is still crippled. There is no way to organize photos into folders or tag them in any useful manner. And there no possibility to select multiple items for sharing etc. Gallery cannot zoom images that are downloaded to the phone from other sources no matter how big these images are.
None of these limitations were present in Symbian Anna, so this is a major drawback and downgrade in terms of features even this 808 shoud be Nokias's current flag ship phone on photography domain.

    I Updated my Nokia 603 to FP2.
New Camera UI, music Player and details tab in gallery are very appreciated.
Also, several new widgets and performance improvements are satisfactory.
    Problems I encountered are,
    1) I can't send several photos from gallery by marking them, and don't see the option to sort by ascending or descending dates.
    2) Also, Message Editor takes 3-4 sec. to rotate when keyboard is raised.
    3) Contacts are scrambled, not sorted Alphabeticaly. They keep changing everytime.
    4) Music Player takes 2-3 seconds to play a song when clicked on it.
    5) Another minor bug is the time stamp of Message Sending. Sometimes, a message fails to be sent. It's then scheduled to be  'Resend at .......' But if you send it manually, that 'resend' time is attached to the message. not the actual one. It's not a major bug but it makes the Conversational View scattered.

  • 808 Belle FP2

Is it me or is "Swipe to unlock" rather slow as missing tap to unlock already?
Prefer not to use spring loaded "lock-key" as probably first component to fail!
Happy to have helped forum with a Support Ratio = 42.5

@aspergerguy Did you really create this thread with the title "808 Belle FP2" ? Tut tut.
I agree that the swipe is a little slower than the previous tap, however, I pretty much always use the physical lock switch and have no reason to think it will fail. The switch never failed on my N97, C6-01 or N8 and this one on the 808 seems the most robust of the lot.
svi78> Please try the following: Press Menu key and then swipe from the right to left. There is not "unlock" button on the Nokia Belle FP2.
aspergerguy said that the swipe was slower than the tap, not that he couldn't find how to unlock the screen without using the switch.

Having a strange issue while attempting to re-install Belle FP1 on 701. Error is "First put in your SIM card". The SIM is in and working fine... Any one else seen this?

You can format from Windows CD if that is what you mean by "windows side."
Updates are usually done while boot in the OS you want to 'upgrade' while custom is only done booted from other media.
With a Mac Pro you could easily install in many different ways than if you only had a laptop or imac.
But you can't "pick yourself up by your own bootstraps."
I don't even like upgrade of SL while booted in Mac OS.
If it was my Mac I'd install Windows 7 and make better use of your hardware and the performance afforded.
