808PV screen lock problem
Hi,
increasingly of late, and now permanently, when the screen locks on my 808, either by the slider or timer, the screensaver doesn't appear.
The screen stays as it is and bright all the time. The screen is locked and the lock symbol appears, but no screensaver.
I used to be able to solve it by rebooting several times, but no longer.
Anyone seen this before or got any ideas how to solve it?
Cheers,
Antony
Hi macaroni,
the following procedure might help you - it worked for me a few times:
Go to Menu -> Settings -> Themes -> Screensaver.
The hook on the left side might be on "none" or "big clock" or "Sleeping Screen", it does not matter.
Now select "none" and select your desired screensaver again (if you choose Sleeping Screen, you'll see a configuration window, go back).
Lock your phone and see if the screensaver appears.
6600 -> N90 -> N95 8GB -> (skipped N97) -> N8 -> N950 -> 808 PureView

Whenever I dial any number from my Z1, the screen locks and can't be unlocked by repeated pressing of the screen unlock button untill the call is cut from the opposite end.
So, I can't see for how many minutes I am talking or access any other application from my phone during the call or even cut the call.
I am currently using 14.1.G.1.534 version.
Can anybody suggest any solution ?Try to remove scratch proof guard which you must have installed after purchase of your z1 phone. Mote that you Do not remove original screen scratch proof guard installed by sony, it will void the warranty of the display screen.
If above method doesn't help then take the issue to authorised service center. -
I have two issues with screen lock on my Q10. First, when the phone is in sleep mode, pressing any of the number keys wakes up the phone and activates the lock screen. I would like to know why this happens -- it doesn't make sense to me that any of the keys should work when the phone is locked. Is this a software issue?
Secondly, when I remove the phone from the holster, the lock screen activates which is fine (I have the phone set to lock when in holster). However keys get pushed randomly while removing the phone from the holster. For example, the password field can get populated as the phone is being removed. The alt key and the shift key also can get pushed inadvertently. Again, is this a software issue? It doesn't make sense that keys should be active until the phone is well out of the holster and the lock screen is activated.Hey Calawson,
Thanks for the detailed reply.
Also just to clarify my reply, all the number keys and Q, A will wake up the screen. There is no reasoning why these keys have been chosen to wake up the BlackBerry Q10 smartphone.
I can definitely see your concern as if you are putting the BlackBerry Q10 in a holster and the padding is touching the ALT or Shift key it will be enabled when you unlock or even wake the screen of the BlackBerry Q10.
There is no way to stop the ALT or Shift key from not being active when BlackBerry Q10 is locked.
I hope this information helps, be sure to let me know if you have any more questions.
Cheers.

Screen lock problems with Alarm, etc...
The Alarm notification window goes away too quickly.
I have the screen lock setting ON (so I have to slide the yellow ball up). I also have the screen lock time set to one minute.
When the alarm goes off (IF it goes off, which is another bug) the screen turns on with the slider indicating an alarm is going off, but it quickly goes away.
It doesn't stay active for the minute I have set.
Thus, I have to hit the button, then unlock the screen to snooze the alarm.
Also I noticed that the screen lock, well, works whenever it wants to. Sometimes Im asked to slide the ball, other times I am not. I should be qued to do this every time I tap the power button.
All these little bugs are making me a little leery of my Pre purchase...
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)I was on vacation this weekend and set my Pre alarm to go off both mornings. The first morning it went off, but the touch screen, volume buttons, unlock, etc. were all frozen. Nothing had any effect on the Pre whatsoever. Had to completely shut down the Pre.
The next morning, it simply didn't go off at all. Triple-check the settings, and all were correct. Just deecided to not work. -

Connect iPod to the computer you normally use it with (the first one that the iPod synced with) and open iTunes. Then disconnect the iPod from the computer and it should no longer be locked.
If not, you'll have to restore the iPod. -
Yes, when I have my iPad on mute I can not rotate the screen or listen audio from apps. And when I set it on lock rotation I can hear the games but I can not make the screen to rotate, unless I set it back to mute. And when I do there is no sound.
Hi JGR,
The Lock Rotation option in Settings only controls what the little slider just above your volume buttons on the upper right-hand outer edge of the iPad. Whether you have selected Mute or selected Lock Rotation, you control the "on" or "off" of that setting by moving the switch up to engage it, and down to disengage it.
Then, for the other control (say you set the option in settings to Mute, so the "other" control would be Lock Rotation), you double click on the Home key and then slide to the right. You will see a little gray control bar at the bottom of the Spotlight Search screen, and on the far left, it will show you the "Lock Control" which you can engage or disengage by tapping on it:
Lock Control Disengaged:
Lock Control Engaged:
Hope this helps!

IPad2 screen lock problem on-line
Brand new iPad 2.. tried to use the internet and it can find the website but as soon as a website is loaded, it will not let me use the touch screen - it doesnt work, goes grey so that I cannot do anything. Is there a setting which I can change. It was ok yesterday so something has changed? The screen is not broken as the touch screen works when not using the internet - games etc?? Help!
Assuming that it's not a flash-based site (which isn't supported) that you are trying to access, try clearing Safari's cache (Settings > Safari > Clear Cache and Clear History), and also close the app completely : from the home screen (not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar. Then try re-opening Safari
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot. -
I got the phone start of March and just the other night I noticed when I go to make a call the screen goes completely blank - its not the sensor cos its still in my hand so ive no option to put on loudspeeker or mute or anything.
Also when someone rings me it goes black, I can't unlock it and its reeeally irritating not being able to see whos ringing me incase its someone I dont wanna answer! Only way I can answer is pressing the big green button.
And finally, when I set my alarm and it goes off in the morning. Again - black screen, can't unlock it and only way to turn off my alarm is by turning off the phone altogher. Granted this annoys me so much is works in waking me up but I like my option of the snooze!
Have I accidentially mixed up something in my settings thats causing this without realising or is the phone just ballsed? =/Actually, that behavior is exactly what you'd see proximity sensor is constantly activated. This can happen in one of two ways:
1) You have a screen protector or other object stuck on the front of the phone on the sensor. I'm sure you would've eliminated this though.
2) The proximity sensor is broken.
If it's 1, get a better-designed screen protector (with a window for the sensor) or trim yours to fit, or clean off whatever got stuck on there. Like I say, ou probably already eliminated this option.
If it's 2, the care point can deal with it.

Xfce4: Problems with Sound and Screen Locking on ASUS G53S
Hello everyone,
I recently installed Arch for the first time, and decided to use xfce4 for my desktop environment. Everything seems to work well after I followed the instructions given in the wiki, except for the sound and screen-locking functionality. Regarding the sound, I made sure that my user account is added to the audio group, and installed the gstreamer1.0-base-plugins and gstreamer1.0-good-plugins packages. The xfce4-mixer applet starts up without any warnings and recognizes the available devices, but I am still not able to hear any sound. The "Lock Screen" applet simply does nothing upon being clicked. Do you have any ideas as to what I should try in order to fix these problems?
Thank you very much!To be able to lock the screen you have to install and configure a screen locker or screen saver, e.g. xscreensaver, slock, i3lock, maybe combined with xautolock. When you use a screen locker and not xscreensaver, XFCE might not recognize it. Then create a symlink in /usr/local/bin/xflock4 or use a shellscript if you need to pass parameters.
My configuration: xautolock with i3lock. /usr/local/bin/xflock4 is this executable shellscript:
#!/bin/sh
xautolock -locknow
xautolock is started in the XFCE autostart with this commandline: xautolock -locker 'i3lock -d -i ~/Bilder/arch/arch-linux-lock.png'
PS: If you like i3lock and need user switching capabilities, I can give you a patch where Ctrl-S calls a custom command (gdmflexiserver by default)

K1 screen rotation lock problem
To all the experts on the board,
I bought a K1 tablet and played with it for a week. After the system updates, everything works reasonably well except the screen rotation lock. I push the screen lock button down as instructed, but the screen still rotates. Any idea how to fix the problem? Many thanks in advance!I've had the K1 for over a year now and I have noticed some trends with the rotation lock slider not working correctly.
First off, I want to make clear that when I say the slider isn't working correctly, I mean that even with the Rotation Lock OFF, the screen stays in whatever position it was last in, whether it's portrait or landscape, no matter how much I move or reorient the tablet. The notification for the slider pops up on the screen as if it were working normally switching between locked and unlocked, so it doesn't seem like a hardware issue.
When the rotation lock does stop functioning, a system reset serves to fix the issue for a while. After a few days on standby or with intermittent use, the rotation lock stops working again.
As a side note, applications that are landscape only can force the tablet out of portrait and applications that are portrait only can force the tablet out of landscape, however when the applications close, it's hit or miss if the tablet stays in the new orientation or jumps back to the old one.
Also, I have noticed that the rotation lock never started acting up until after I inserted a microSD card. Can anyone else verify that this trend happened for them as well? What's even stranger is the fact that at first the card wouldn't even mount, but as soon as it was inside the tablet, that's when I noticed the rotation lock wasn't responding. It was a 32GB microSD high capacity, so I chocked it up to the firmware of the tablet not being compatible with such a large sized microSD card. I tried a smaller microSD card andeverything seemed to work fine. The only reason why I went back to the 32GB card is that I happened to try it some time later and the system was able to read it.
I really like the tablet and it's kind of frustrating that there's still not really a good solution to this. Any feedback or help would be appreciated.
Thank you kindly,

Downloaded iOS7 on my 4S. Mostly went well, but sometimes screens lock up (especially text, but also Settings). Find I cannot access and send texts sometimes, plus do not receive some texts from others (group messages real problem). Any work around? And related problem: Getting told can not connect to network when trying to sign on with Apple ID to launch Facetime and Messages.
I've restarted several times. If I restore from backup, unfortunately the backup was done after iOS7 downloaded. Now, am I wrong that "restore as new" will essentially wipe me out? If so, and having backup, you're saying essentially start over and then backup?

When my iPhone 4S (with ios7) experiences a failed call while connected to my Bluetooth hands free in my car(screen locked) the failed call appears on the locked screen, as it should, the problem arises whenever I unlock the phone, it automatically redials the last failed call, it doesn't do this with missed calls that are on the locked screen, if any. It is really annoying as sometimes the phone doesn't respond to attempts to end the call before it connects to the number. I then have to explain that it was my phone and not me, I look like an idiot, which I don't really need any extra help with!! Does anyone have any ideas? I don't want to stop missed call from showing in the locked screen but it might be associated with the failed calls and therefore be the only resolution
I have had the same issue which was driving me mad but think I have just found a way around it. In iOS 7 if you swipe up on the lock screen to access quick settings and go into timer then click the home button you get into the phone without calling the person back. Not a great 'fix' but hope it works for you. Come on Apple this isn't good enough, fix this bug otherwise you will lose your customers.

I have iPhone 4 and 4s. WiFi is automatically switching off on both phones when they are inactive (screens are locked). It is connecting back after some seconds I unlocke the phone. But because I have no subscribtion for the Cellular data usage, I am being cuted from Internet all screen-locked period. All that time people are not able to reach me by email, skype, or other programs using Internet. It is quite uncomfortable, especially when waiting for something important! Is there a way to change this setting?
The iPhone does not shut down WiFi completely when asleep. It does use a power conservation mode. You should still receive notifications. There is no setting for this. It should work for you as it does for me if you don't have a network problem.
There are lots of problems reported with D-Link routers and they don't have a great reputation. If there is no help available from D-Link you may want to consider installing the DD-WRT firmware. It's available for the D-Link 615. See here for information: http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/index
By the way, you do have Notifications enabled for the Apps you are talking about right? See Settings -> Notifications and Mail, etc. -
Windows 8.1 Lock Screen drops network connectivity when screen locked using Win+L
Hi!
I was sent here from Microsoft Community forum. The question is:
Since Windows NT 4.0 I'm using Lock Screen to prevent people from accessing my computer when I'm leaving my room. First I was using CTRL+ALT+DEL / Lock Screen, then switched to Win+L keyboard shortcut when it was first introduced.
Everything was fine until I switched to Windows 8.1 computer (Sony Vaio Duo 13 with Broadcom wireless network controller). This machine is 8.1, not 8.0 upgraded to 8.1.
My problem is that when I hit Win+L combo the Lock Screen (with clock etc.) is displayed. Then, despite I have configured not to turn off display, the screen goes blank (after 30 seconds since lock) and network connectivity is cut off from desktop
apps (I suspect the system goes into Active Standby mode, because Modern UI apps like Tune-In radio keep working fine).
100% repeatable scenarios:
## Scenario 1 ##
1) Log in
2) Open desktop app that uses network connectivity. Outlook 2013 from Office365 subscription
3) Check that it has connected
4) Lock screen (Win+L)
5) Wait for 30 seconds (first incorrectly posted as few minutes) as screen goes black
6) Unlock screen (using password)
7) In right corner of Outlook app you will see "Unable to connect with Exchange server" and few seconds later it will reconnect sucessfuly
## Scenario 2 - the more annoying ##
1) Log in to Win 8.1 computer
2) Connect to it using SMB (in my case I wanted to transfer 30 GB of files from local hard drive C: to server) \\COMPUTER-NAME\c$ from Windows Server 2012 R2
3) Start copying files from computer to server
4) Lock the screen on computer
5) As soon as screen goes black server displays message "Lost connection to the resource. Try again?"
6) Unlock screen on the computer
7) Click "Try again" and it will continue copying files
My power settings are set to go into stand by after 5 hours and if I not lock the screen it doesn't go to sleep before 5 hours.
When I lock the screen using Win+L it goes into (probably Active) Standby mode.
Is there any way to prevent it from going to Active Standby when locking screen? I need the screen lock for security reasons but I don't want it to drop my network connectivity on remote desktops, file transfers and other desktop activities before 5 hour
timeout.
This issue is not related to more or less known wireless network connectivity problem that happens to many Intel Haswell computers. Mine doesn't exhibit those problems. I can easly push 100 - 200 GB of wireless data without network drops.
Computer information:
Sony Vaio Duo 13: SVD1322C5E

Best regards,
SergiuszSame issue here using Surface 3 Pro with either internal WLAN or MS USB LAN Adapter. I'm frequently used to keep open connections over SSH to some servers. On switching to lock screen explicitly by pressing Win+L or implicitly due to idle timeout all
connections to servers are lost. In addition, I don't get any notifications on incoming Skype messages (using Skype for desktop) when lock screen is active.
Neither NIC is showing "Power Management Tab" according to step 5 of instructions above.
Additionally observing USB LAN NIC seems to be kept active after activating lock screen, but traffic stops (according to its flashing light) when lock screen is switching off display. Blanking display doesn't seem to be adjustable in System Settings (Energy
Options accessed through Win+X).
Find attached log file of powercfg -energy -duration 300 ...
Log file is in German. It basically claims unset timeouts for deactivating display while running attached to power supply though lock screen is turning off displays within 1-2 minutes.
