80GB ipod and Earphones w/ Remote and Mic

Hi
Has anyone heard of a firmware update that would allow people who own 80GB iPod classics to use the Earphones with Remote and Mic? I have one that I bought last year, and would like to give the new earphones a try.

I highly doubt that, those headphones were created for the new shuffles.
but you can probably use them for an iphone or your cell phone with an adapter unless the jack fits.

  • I have a 80GB Ipod and it is not recognized by itunes. It seems to have occured after upgrading to itunes 10.

I have a 80GB Ipod. Its been working fine for the past couple years, unitl now. I haven't downloaded any new music on to the Ipod in months. So I usually charged it directly from an outlet. I updated the itunes just recently, so I think it maybe the itunes itself.  I plugged the Ipod onto my computer like always and it read connected, but it never opened up the Itunes like it usually does. Opened Itunes manually and my Ipod didn't show up on the device tab or anywhere else. Tried to reset it...that didn't work. Re-downloaded Itunes, that didn't work either. Once it showed up on Itunes, so tried restoring, but it said that it could not work, because it showed the Ipod as being used somewhere else? At that time it showed up on my computer as a device with a removable storage. Not sure what else to do. Do anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks But all those options assume that my IPOD is being seen by windows.
I get this error when I connect and the software is trying to install the drivers

  • Can you use a 80gb drive from a 5th generation ipod to replace a 30gb drive in a 5th generation ipod.  I have a drive in my old 80gb ipod  and want to switch into my new 30gb 5th generation ipod.

Can you substitute the 30 for the 80gb drives in 5th generation ipod classics and visa versa?

    iPod Classic, iOS 5 ???
    Sigh!

  • I've just bought an 80gb iPod and need help with music videos.....

...I've downloaded a music video which iTunes has put in my library under Music when I thought it would be under Movies. I can't move it to Movies, it won't let me. I can only transfer it to my iPod as a music file. How do get to watch it on my iPod?
    Thanks
    Andy

I suggest copying your entire iTunes library to your new computer, also you might want to copy the photos you want to save. Then sync your device to the new iTunes and copy over your music, documents and photos that you want.
If you are no longer going to use the old computer you should open up iTunes on the old computer and use the menu to deauthorize it. Be sure to use the same iTunes menu on your new computer to Authorize the new one.

The iPod Nano and the Fifth Generation iPods have a feature called hibernation. • Cant restore 80GB Ipod because I dont have the Internet???

So my wife bought me an 80gb Ipod and shipped it out to me (Im in Iraq). I hooked it up to my computer and it immediately started to work and sync all my music and what not onto it. I believe at the time I was using Itunes version 7.3. Well then I hooked it up to a friends computer and tried putting some music onto it and when I tried to eject it, it was taking forever! His computer was crazy slow so I got tired of waiting and just pulled the usb cord out of the computer. A few days later I tried to use it and all the music and videos were off the ipod but my photos were still on it. I tried to plug it into my computer and now im getting a message saying that itunes cannot read the contents of my ipod and that I need to go into the summary tab and restore it. So I try and restore the ipod but I CANT restore it because I dont have an active internet connection. And I will NOT be able to get an active internet connection to my laptop simply because im in Iraq!
So my question is, is there any other way I can restore the Ipod without the internet?? I downloaded and installed the new version of itunes 7.5 and it still doesnt wanna work or restore. I have no idea what to do.
We tried hooking it up to a friends computer and he said he found and fixed a virus that was on the ipod and then tried to bring it up on his computer. To our luck his computer recognized the ipod and it brought up all my music in his itunes. We tried syncing his library with my ipod, which it did! but when we ejected the Ipod. It still said no music or videos on it. But if you look at the memory space. It shows that it did infact sync his music but its labeled as "other" and not music. I then tried to hook it back up on my computer and it doesnt read it at all! I need help please!

Have you given the following a try?

Otherwise, I'd say are you positive that iTunes on your computer and on your buddies computer were the same version? Reason I ask is my wife and I just bought iPods last weekend. She got a Nano and I got a Classic. I plugged hers in first. Got the updates and updated iTunes as well. After all that and charging a while I tried mine. Nothing. I can only assume that the almighty OS known as Winblows was confused by the whole thing and thus thought my iPod was already updated to the latest software which I think is 1.0.3. Or something like that. I eventually got mine going but differences in versions is certainly a possibility.
Also, did you buddy have a USB 2.0 connection or 1.1? I noticed my wife's Nano taking much longer to charge than it should have. That's when I realized I had my stupid USB hub plugged into a USB 1.1 port on my computer instead of 2.0. So I'm just assuming this but I would say that could also cause the iPod to go slower. Just more to possibly explain why it was moving slow on your buddies computer.
Look at your iTunes and if you iPod does show up look to see what version of software it has. Could be the culprit. Unless this really does boil down to an internet connection which would be kind of stupid if you know you've got the latest software. iTunes shouldn't force you to do that. Hope I've helped in some way anyway. If not, good luck with this.
And aside from the iPod question, thanks for your service overseas. You guys are all certainly thought of here a lot and are appreciated. Stay safe!

  • 80GB iPOD

I just bought the 80GB iPOD - can I update iTunes on another computer from my 30GB iPOD & then use that to manager the old iPOD? I hope that makes sense. I want to use my current iTunes to update my new 80GB iPOD and manage the 80 iPOD from there. Please help! Thank you!

I could, but I don't know how to that either. I'm actually very new to this whole thing.

  • 80gb iPod not playing videos

Here's a problem i could find an answer to after looking through these forums and all the apple info.
just got the new 80gb ipod and bought a few videos of the itunes music store. now two of these videos play for about two seconds then begin to skip or lag ? The thrid actually has a higher total bite rate then the first two.
Now i'm thinking that it would make sense for videos from the itunes store to play on the ipod.
    Anyone have an ideas.

I have a similar problem. Bought three videos from the Apple Store and all three of them skip in different places - the pictures freezes, the music continues fo a few seconds and then the picture catches up. All three of the downloads can't have a problem, so it must be a problem with the iPod itself.

  • 80GB Ipod cannot be read from (Error (-50))

I have just bought a new 80gb ipod and i am already having problems with it.
I first connected it to my computer and eveything was going fine until i had put about 41GB of music onto the ipod then I got an error saying the my ipod could not be read from and I could not put anymore music onto it. I disconnected the ipod and when i reconnected it i got the message that the Ipod could not be read from again and that I should restore the Ipod and try again.
I have restored the ipod and tried to put my music on againa and everytime it gets to between 41 and 43gb i get the same error message and have to restore.
If i just put less than 40gb on the ipod works fine.
If anyone has any ideas what I can try to resolve this problem they would be most appreciated

  • 80GB iPod disk format

Just got my new 80GB iPod and was surprised it was recognised straightaway on a PC! I was about to reformat it for Windows (so I can use it as a USB disk drive on both Mac & Windows) but found this wasn't necessary. So I take it the new iPods must be formatted in Windows. But I haven't tried updating with a Mac yet. If this work, then Apple must had updated the firmware or something so that one can now update a Windows format iPod on a Mac.

Can you check what is the current format of  your iPod?

  • My Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic White For iPhone says: made in vietnam. i want to know if they are OEM?

My Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic White For iPhone says: made in vietnam right in the cord. i want to know if they are OEM? here my email: [email protected], thanks.

Accidental damage is not covered under the warranty but if possible to reset the screen without causing additional damage, the Apple Store should do this without charging for it.

  • Using Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic on my Macbook

Is it possible to use the remote to control volume on my macbook? I know the mic works but I can't get the remote to. Is it even possible to use the remote?

I have a unibody Macbook with OSX 10.6.1 and it works with my Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic. However, whenever I plug them in to the Macbook it takes up to 10 seconds for the volume and tracking controls to start working on the earphone remote. Also, if there is music playing in iTunes, the audio drops out for about the same amount of time. The hardware buttons on the Macbook also stop functioning during this time. The same behavior occurs when unplugging the earphones.
Basically, it seems like the Macbook is extremely slow when adding / removing the earphones as an audio control device.
Has anyone else noticed anything like this? Thanks!
