80GB iPod can't use a remote?

I'm totaly stumped...
I have a Universal dock (MA242LL/A) with the remote (MA128G/A). I returned the remote and dock twice now. I've even changed the battery in the remote. And I've even restored my iPod. I've NOW bought a 3rd party (generic) Dock and Remote....still the remote will not do a thing. Not 1 button on the remote works. I've looked all over for a solution. No results....
Is the 80GB iPod incompatible with the Apple remote? (or any other remote for that matter..)
I LOVE my iPod....but I'm about to give up on the whole dock/remote idea.....HELP!

OK ...I hope this helps some of you 80GB owners out there. I just bought a Kensington Stereo Dock p/n: 33164 (for work) and it works GREAT! Sound is excellent and remote works great! Being this unit works great ...I also got the Entertainment Dock 500 p/n: 33350 (for home) ...and WOW!
Now I'm in no way supporting non-apple products, but for some reason the Apple Dock and remote (as well as other 3rd party docks/remotes) just would not work on the 80gb 5.5 gen. Now I haven't tried the DLO stuff yet, so I can't comment on those. But if you're having the same problem I was, then the Kensington is the way to go. Only problem is that is doesn't allow you to sync your ipod ... but at least I have a working Dock and Remote. YAY!

Yes. All they have to do is to restore the iPod and use it/sell it. Apple will do nothings to prevent that.

I am hoping someone can help me,i am very stressed!!!I have an 80gb ipod i bought 15 months ago.No problems.
I bought a new ipod touch 2 weeks ago as well.uploaded stuff fine.Went to update all my podcasts on my old one last week,everything has gone!! all 300 movies and 6000 songs as well as all my podcasts!! We have 4 ipods in the household all on the same computer all using manual sync.My old one is still set to manual sync,so not sure why everything has gone!

Now,one question is that when i look in my summary when i plug it into itunes,i have 65gb showing up in the orange column as "other" and my ipod is showing up as full! I was able to put back a little bit of video,podcasts and music,but what is this "other"????? Is this my stuff somehow hidden???

You'd better have absolutely all of your media in iTunes, or it'll be gone forever...
Restore your iPod (pretty big, obvious button) and resync all your stuff. Only way I know.

Can't use Keynote Remote Because of iPhone 5's Bluetooth

I use Keynote Remote with my iPhone 5 to MacBook Air. WiFi works well but Bluetooth doesn't work at all. How to solve this problem.

When a Wi-Fi connection is unavailable you can use Keynote Remote with Bluetooth to control your Keynote slideshow from one iOS device to another (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch). However, slides may take longer to appear on Keynote Remote when connected via Bluetooth. You cannot use Keynote Remote via Bluetooth with a Mac. The following steps use Keynote Remote on an iPhone to control a Keynote presentation on an iPad via Bluetooth.
iPhone: Go to Settings > General > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth ON.
iPad: Go to Settings > General > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth ON.
iPad: Open a Keynote presentation.
iPhone: Open the Keynote Remote app. If you have previously paired your iPhone or iPad, you can immediately begin to control your slideshow from your iPhone by tapping Play Slideshow. I just tried to connect and sync my iTouch (4G) to iTunes and I got an error message that said :This iPod can'be used because Apple Mobile Device service is not started". I tried searching my PC for the program and no luck. Any suggestions?

Can not use any remote desktop like VNC after installing Oracle Linux 6.3

I just installed OL 6.3 on a HP Proliant ML380 g7. Now I want to connect to the server using any Remote Desktop tools but I can not!
I've activated system>pref>Remote Desktop
But I can not access any of servers from:
- a Mac using, Mac server sharing screen, VNC viewer or Microsoft Remote connection which is in a same subnet
- Other Server Using KRDC, Remote Desktop Viewer, terminal server client or tiger VNC viewer
Also I tried to connect to servers after activating krfb
but it always says no rout to server/ server not found/ connection closed
and remote desktop viewer can not find any host when I try to use option "find"
Please Advise

Make sure to enable "require a password..." in the Remote Desktop Preference on the Linux system. Some clients won't work unless this is set. Unfortunately the Remote Desktop Preferences panel on the Linux side does not show you the port it is listening on, but you can get it by clicking on the IP or name that it shows as a link. The first user or vnc server is usually listening on port 5900, then 5901, and so on.
Your problem is probably the firewall on your Linux system. You can disable the firewall on the Linux system:
service iptables stop
However, probably a better idea, simply tunnel the connection through SSH as following:
On the Mac, open the Terminal application from the Applications/Utilities folder. Then type the following:

ssh -L local_port:localhost:remote_port -N -f -l username server_address
</pre>
local_port = port on your Mac that does not conflict with any of your own screen-sharing or other services, e.g. 5555
remote_port = vnc server port on your Linux system
username = user for which you have enabled remote desktop sharing
server_address = ip address or FQDN of your Linux system.
For instance:

ssh -L 5555:localhost:5900 -N -f -l root 10.0.1.2
</pre>
The trick is now to connect to a local port on your Mac, instead using the address of your Linux server. The communication will be encrypted using ssh going over tcp port 22, which is normally enabled in the firewall.
The Mac screen sharing application is working fine. On your Mac, select "Go>Connect to Server" from the Finder menu and type:
vnc://localhost:5555

ARD 2.2 is not supported on Leopard. At least one user (raus), though, posted here that he got ARD 2.2 to work in Leopard. It's the same work-around Apple provided for ARD 2.2 to work on Intel Macs using Tiger. From the finder, navigate to:
/System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteMangement
From the folder, delete (or move) the ARDAgent v3.X file. Install the 2.2 update for ARD on the Apple site. (This may be optional; the original poster just reinstalled the update to be safe.) You can reportedly now run Remote Desktop 2.2 in 10.5. This works for PowerPC and Intel Macs.
Note, though, that this is completely unsupported by Apple and may or may not work, or may cause issues. For proper support for Leopard, you need ARD 3.2.
