80GB Ipod Won't turn on ,,,period tried all of the tips

I got an 80 GB classic I guess rounded back kind of thick case not as thick as my past 120 GBs or my 60s though.
This thing will not boot at all, was working fine then one day all went dark.
I don't think it is in a coma because I tried all of the tips and tricks let it set for 2 weeks no power, let it set for a week solid on a wall charger.
Tried new and used Ipod Ipad Iphone sync cables. Tried all kinds of Ipod Ipad Iphone chargers wall car docking stations Ipod intergrated jambox and all.
all of the chargers and cables work fine for syncing Ipads Iphones and used to work fine with this Ipod for quite a while.
So with all of th obvious trouble shooting steps being taken and I would not have posted if I hadn't already tried them.
So now the questions,
1. Which version of Ipod do I have? it just says 80GB on the back.
     It is a video Ipod
The bottom corners are rounded and it has a pretty large screen.
It is in no way nearly as thick as my 160 GB was.
2. Is this a SSD HDD or a mechanical one?
3. If I need to buy a battery what is the max mAh that you can get for this model.
4. If the HDD is bad then what should I replace it with,
5. I can get another 80GB -160GB for 75-150 is it even worth messing with if a HDD is bad?
6. Which would it most likely be, This thing makes ZERO sound ZERO activity.
Please don't waste both of our times telling me to reboot recharge or reset, I have been waiting on this thing for 3 months now,, I have done it all besides cracking the case open. I am very techincal,, so I am not scred of a techincal answer.
I just have an issue with a 250 dollar brick !!!!!!!!!! 250 in my world should last 10 years if all of this apple engineering is what every one says it is cracked up to be, but again they do sell them at walmart.

The battery may be bad. If it works ONLY while plugged into ANY power adaptor, then it IS the battery.

  • I had a fully charged fifth gen iPod touch.  Had nothing but trouble since updating to iOS8.  This morning the iPod was fully charged. Turned it off-on standby. Came back and it won't turn on. Tried all troubleshooting tricks. Anyone ideas?

This morning, I had my fully charged 5th gen iPod touch.  Have had lots of problems with it since updating to iOS8.  After briefly using it (successfully may I add), I switched it off to standby.  Came back only 10 minutes later, and it would not turn on. Tried all the obvious solutions, even switched out the lightening cord.  Apple support could not help, and their only solution is to call.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Any other solutions other than obvious ones?  iTunes no longer even recognizes the iPod. Thank everyone!

Hey Wildfarmrose, Have you tries any of these: iOS: Not responding or does not turn on , if still no joy try DFU Recovery Mode

About the only other thing to try is let the battery drain, then attempt to charge for 30 minutes and attempt to turn on, otherwise try another cable, and/or different computer, if still no joy most likely dealing with a hardware issue, schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar at your local Apple store and have your iPod evaluated. Don't forget to bring your cable also.  Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar

  • My firefox won't work; It says "unable to connect" and I have tried all of the tips for troubleshooting and it still wont' work.

Firefox opens up with an "unable to connect" message; it also says it cannot establish a connection to the server with these three bullets: 1) The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
    2) If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network connection.
    3) If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I have tried to do all of the tips that you have on your website for troubleshooting and nothing seems to work. I know it is not my Internet connection because my roommates can get on Firefox without a problem and my Internet Explorer opens just fine.

If your iPad is defective and is still under warranty, you can take it to an Apple Authorized Repair Center and get it fixed.  If you are worried about a defective replacement, then a repair may be a better way to go.  <Apple Authorized Repair Centers>
Personally, I would prefer getting a replacement.  You read about many defects here in this forum, but they only represent a tiny percentage of all iPads sold.

  • I have the iPad 2 and for about two months now the home button only responds part time. It works occasionally and I have tried all of the tips on the discussion board.

My iPad 2 has a hoe button that is not responding constantly. It will either work right away or not respond for up to an hour. I have tried all of the suggestions posted on other questions and it's becoming ridiculous. I have a warranty but am afraid that if I get another iPad 2 the problem will continue on the new one.

  • IPod won't turn on without plugging it into the charger.

I have a 30gb iPod video and the problem is when my ipod is plugged into the wall charger it works fine. But once i take it out of the charger, the screen immediately turns off. It says my battery is fully charged when in the charger. I even have a car dock in my car and when I put the ipod on it, it works. Another thing is, when my ipod is connected to the usb port on my computer, it won't turn on. So the only way my ipod is functional is if its connected to the wall or in the car. Can someone PLEASE help me fix this problem. THANKS!
    -Kasper

Sounds like you have a bad battery. It might need to be replaced. For some reason your usb port is not putting out enough to power it so there could be a short in the circuit also. It will need to be checked out. If it is under warranty contact apple. If it isn't do a search for iPod repairs on the net. There are some good places that can do the repairs cheaper than apple.

  • IPod won't turn on and gets stuck at the Apple logo

I have an 8gb and i think 3rd gen iPod. I've used the reset function on the general settings then reset all settings and media files. While resetting the iPod got a dead battery. Now it won't open after the Apple logo. Even when I connect it to the computer it only charges for a few minutes then it tries to open but it got stucked again at Apple logo. What should I do. Please help I got this from my friend and I don't want that person to be disappointed. T_T

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • What do I do when my phone has "no service"? I already tried all of the tips on the apple website, and I contacted my carrier! Please Help!

    Hello,
I have the iPhone 4 and I usually shut my phone off to get sleep at night. When I turned it back on it, the service bar never reappeared. My phone is basically my only means of communication with the rest of the world, so I would appreciate if I could have help rather quickly! Thanks

Your carrier didn't mention that your iPhone's SIM card might be bad and needs to be replaced?
Your carrier didn't try to reset your connection which requires the iPhone being off when doing so?
And you restored your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup?

  • My iPod Touch 4th Generation 8gb won't turn on and is frozen on the loading symbol/wheel, I tried the method where you hold the home and lock button lots of times and it hasn't worked! What do I do?

My question won't all fit in but it says 'My iPod Touch 4th Generation 8gb won't turn on and is frozen on the loading symbol/wheel. What do I do?'
I've had this problem from about two weeks and I forgot about it, but today I wanted to play on it and remembered that it's not working, I've tried connecting it to iTunes via my laptop but I'm not to sure how to update it because I thought that might fix it, but no luck. I've tried the trick where you hold the lock and home button but nothing happened apart from it just went back to the apple logo and then to the frozen loading symbol/wheel. I need help!

  • Ipod touch won't turn on after trying to charge after the battery ran out

I was about to charge my ipod because it was below 10% but before I could it ran out. Now, when I plug it in to the computer or my Ipod wall charger, it won't come up in itunes and my wall charger says it is charging (red light) but 30 minutes later, my ipod won't turn on. I can't figure out why my ipod will not turn on and can't restore it in itunes otherwise I would have tried that. I can't reset it either since it won't even turn on. Do I just need to charge even longer? Or is it something else?

Thx alot for this thread, plus the solution. i was frekin out. i didn't do anything to the ipod for it to do what it it. have you or can any one tell me why it did this, or what could be the reasons for this to happen. i think that knowing that would also be very usefull. thx in adv.

  • 1st Generation iPod Won't Turn On

I have a original 1st generation iPod.  Yes, the one with the scroll wheel and 5gb (wow!) drive.  It doesn't turn on though.  Originally, I suspected a loose connection from the battery to the logic board, but testing with my multimeter shows me the connection is fine.  The iPod doesn't turn on at all.  I tried plugging it into my computer's firewire port and pressing the menu and play/pause button to no avail.
I have a picture in this post of the iPod - all dead like a brick.  Do any of you have any suggestions?  I am at a brick wall right now and need to find some solution.  Or if any of you know where I can get the iPod repaired or get a cheap logic board replacement?  I can't spend too much though.
    Thanks.

    Hi Cece!
See if the suggestions from these articles help with that issue you're having with your iPod failing to power on:
