8120 BlackBerry Pearl: Is it possible to have different tones for messages and phonecalls?
Hey all.
My Dad's just got a BlackBerry & would like to have a different tone for his message alert and phonecalls.
Is this possible?
If so...how do we do it?
Thanks in advance.
Solved!
Go to Solution.
Oh yes... your alerts, ringtones and notifications are very customizable.
1. Select the Profiles icon
2. A box will appear where you can quick select between Loud, Vibrate, Quiet, Normal, Phone Only, and Off. If you wish to quick change the device profiles then select the one you want and exit out.
3. If you want to edit the tones assigned to the device applications then select the last option, Advanced
(some older models and OS 4.1 and below will not have the "Advanced" step--if Advanced is not present go directly to Step 4 below).
4. Select the profile you wish to edit. (Loud, Vibrate, Quiet, Normal (default), Phone Only, Off)
Note: on the 8100, 8800, and 8300 models: Do not click the trackball. Instead, click the menu key to the left of the trackball).
Note: The profile that is in use will say: (Active)
5. You will now see a list of all applications that can have a tone assigned (Browser, Calendar, Level 1 Messages, Messages ([email protected]), Messenger, MMS, Phone, SMS, Task ect..)
6. Select the application you wish to edit the tone / notification for
7. You can now edit Out of Holster and In Holster tones/ notifications.
a) Select between: None, Tone, Vibrate, Vibrate+Tone
b) Select the Tune you wish to use
c) Select Volume (options are Mute, Low, Medium, High, Escalating)
d) Select Number of Beeps (options are 1, 2, 3)
e) Select Repeat Notification (options are None, LED Flashing)
f) If set to Vibrate or Vibrate+Tone then select Number of Vibrations (options are 1, 2, 3)
8. Repeat a-e for each of the desired applications listed in 5 above

Is it Possible to have different sensitivities for trackpoint and bluetooth mouse.
I have an x200. I recently purchased an interlink electronics bluetooth mouse and connection and setup worked great.
The only problem is that the sensitivity that is good for my tackpoint is WAY too sensitive for the mouse.
Is there a way to set up different sensitivities for the bluetooth mouse and the trackpoint so that i don't have to toggle the sensitivity every time I plug in my mouse?Thanks, but I understand the varying inherent sensitivities. I was just wondering if i could adjust a setting or install drivers or something that will automatically change the sensitivity setting when my mouse is connected to the computer. I'm looking for that or something that will specify sensitivity settings for my mouse without affecting the trackpoint.
I have an x200 running Vista Ultimate with the lenovo trackpoint drivers.

Possible to have different ports for incoming and outgoing email?
I need to set up a mail account in Mail where I read incoming mail from port 110, but to send outgoing mail I need to use port 587. Is this possible in Mail? Looks as if you only get to set the port once for both operations.
it is indeed possible. go to mail>preferences>accounts, select the account you already created then go to account information and to outgoing server list, click on the list, go to edit server list and in the advanced pane you can change the outgoing port. for the incoming port, again select the account you already created, then go to advanced, and type in the incoming port.
hope this helps -
Is it possible to have different rendering for RI and Myfaces for same code
Iam facing with a peculiar problem. I developed custom component using JSF technology. There is a different rendering when I used RI and Myfaces for the same code base. How to overcome such a problem. Please reply.
Thanks in advanceHi, it is normal, the rendered classes for the standard component have been implemented differently, so you have some differences. Normally, they should follow the SUN requirement but every one can code that following its own interpretation.
Your component is based on which standard component? -
Is it possible to play different sounds for emails and instant messages ?
Hello,
I was wondering if it was possible to play different sounds for emails and instant messages. I am using Thunderbird quite often with both emails and instant messages imported from Gtalk.
I think it would be very convenient to be able to distinguish both sounds as they do not imply the same things.
Thank you very much.
Olivier Hubert.There are only six chat add-ons, three of them are about notifications. Pick one you think will do the job for you. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/extensions/chat/?sort=popular

Is it possible to have different headers for each page for the Pages app?
I just purchased the Pages app for my ipad and it happens to be one of the best apps i've ever bought. However, I'm having trouble figuring out how to have different headers for each page of the same document. Is this possible to do?
Tommy,
One of the limitations of Pages for iOS on your iPad is that Pages can't create sections per se. The best you can do is insert page breaks and then assign different columns to that page. The problem comes with the headers and footers - in iOS Pages, the headers and footers apply to the whole document, not the individual sections as you would find in Pages '09 on OSX.
The workaround is to create your document on OSX, insert the needed sections and headers, save, then transfer the Pages document to your iPad either as a working "blank" or as a new document. The headers and footers will reflect the sections you created in OS X, but you won't be able to add any new ones or new sections on your iPad. -
Is it possible to have different settings for different podcasts?
I know that you can change the setting for podcasts on iTunes - things like how often they're checked for new episodes and whether they're all kept or deleted after listening.
But some podcasts are more timely, like news programs, and I would like to delete those when they get old. Others are "keepers" and I would like to keep them indefinitely. I know I can go back and manually delete individual episodes, but that's kind of a pain.
So is it possible to change the settings for individual podcasts?
Thanks.Thanks. There is an option for allowing or not allowing auto-delete, which looks like it may be what I want. I'm giving it a try.

Is it possible to have different size for a combobox and its popup?
Hello,
I am showing a JComboBox with all possible fonts. Some of the font names are very long. I'd like to show a narrower combobox but when the popup menu is open to make as wide as necessary.
Is that possible?
Thanks.Hi.
I found this a while ago, but never used it myself:// A Custom UI for the combo box popup
private static class PopupExpandingComboBoxUI extends WindowsComboBoxUI
protected ComboPopup createPopup()
return new ExpandingComboPopup(comboBox);
// Our custom popup menu - it makes up its own width
private static class ExpandingComboPopup extends BasicComboPopup
public ExpandingComboPopup(JComboBox cBox)
super(cBox);
public Rectangle computePopupBounds(int px, int py, int pw, int ph)
// Ok - just set the popup width to 200 for now - should be calculated though
return super.computePopupBounds(px, py, 200, ph);

Hi,
I have a PC class that represents a TreeNode object (a GcGroup), which
has a one-to-many relationship with itself to keep track of its descendants.
For example a hierarchy of A -> B -> C, where A has B,C as descendants
and B has C as a descendant. This is tracked by adding or removing a
descendant with a recursive method to update a TreeNode's parent's
descendants when a child is added or removed.
The odd behaviour happens when I delete a child and try to remove the
child manually from all my parent's descendant relations when I use a
HashSet (possibly happens with any Set). In this case kodo will remove
the relations with the following SQL statement:
DELETE FROM TREENODE_DESCENDANTSX JDOIDX = xxxx;
So when I do my recursive call I get a JDOException thrown stating that
the object xxxx has already been deleted.
When I change the relationship to an ArrayList this exception is not
thrown and I do not get the error.
Looking at the SQL generated they look the same:

Is it possible to have Different Interval Ranges for the same Doc Type
Dear All,
Here is the issue.Is it possible to have different interval ranges for the same document type according to certain condition.Like my client , wants his interval ranges be divided according to region(which are many)
Regards,
Sameer JaleesHello,
As you know we can only assign one number range for External and one number range group for internal in the sales document type.
If you want different number ranges based on the regions, then as Jignesh suggested, you need to go for an enhancement.
Use the exit USEREXIT_NUMBER_RANGE in program MVA45AFZZ, include a Z table with region as a critera and number range group for different numbers based on the regions. Talk to the business and get more details, get the help of ABAP team for technical details.

Is it possible to have a form for 2 individuals to complete before submitting?
Is it possible to have a form for 2 individuals to complete before submitting? The first person will fill out a portion of the form and the second person will fill out the rest of the form and submit.
You can create a submission-enabled PDF first. Ask the first person to fill out his or her portion of the PDF form and save the file. Send the saved file to the second person and have him or her to fill out the rest of the PDF form and submit.
To create submission-enabled PDF
1. Click on the Distribute Tab
2. Click on the "Save Sumbission-Enabled" PDF button.
