8120 Default browser settings

I have a Blackberry 8120 the has Hotspot set as the default browser configuration, how do I change this so that I can use the browser to go on the net using the network instead of WiFi?
(When I select to change it, there is no other option like on my 8520.)
I must also metion that this was working before.
Any urgent assistance would be appreciated.

Hey riaanck,
Have you made and changes to your service plan ? This could also be a service book issue, you may want to clear the service book database as shown here http://bbry.lv/buj0rQ and then resend the service books. http://bbry.lv/e6EyiQ
Let us know if this works for you.

  • How to change default browser settings?

    Safari keeps crashing and I can't change the default browser settings. Is there a way?

    I was able to fix the problem with the crashing by updating Safari.

  • Homepage, Toolbar, and Default browser settings won't stay after logging out and then back in.

    We have Firefox ESR 17.0.7. Our Enterprise uses Firefox as our default. We are trying to figure out why we keep some settings and lose other settings. Upon logging out we lose settings like Home Page, Toolbar changes and making Firefox the default browser. We can set them but overnight the setting will not exist anymore. We have tried creating a new profile using the profile manager and even pointing the profile folder to a different location to see if that helps. But to no avail.

    You probably do not use CCleaner, but if you do, or if you use another "clean up" tool that runs at Windows launch or shutdown, make sure to create an exception for the Firefox Profiles folder.

  • Default BlackBerry Browser settings

    I'm wondering what the default browser settings are on the 8800 - in terms of the following:
    Support HTML Tables
    Use Foreground And Background Colors
    Use Background Images
    Support Style Sheets
    Also, on newer models, do these defaults apply as well, or does it change from model to model?
    Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi,
    To make sure that the browser configurations are set to defaults on the BlackBerry Smartphone complete the following.
    Navigate to the Browser and press the menu key(Key with a BlackBerry Symbol) then select options, select Browser Configuration once in this screen press the menu key again and select Restore Defaults.(If that option is not there that means the default settings are already in place)
    Thank you

  • Change Default browser, Nokia E6 Belle

    Hi,
    I recently upgraded to Belle, is there any way to open links from email with Opera, not default browser.
    The settings->Default Apps is not working.
    Can I expect fixing of this problem soon?
    Thanks
    Moderator's note; Corrected post title and removed corrective post.

    Well, I am Nokia  500 user and I have exactly the same problem. Default browser settings are simply ignored in Belle. Previously I have used Symbian Anna and there Opera Mobile was set (by me) as default browser and it was working as expected - means links opened from email client were opened in Opera. After upgrading to Belle, Opera Mobile still can be set as default browser, but this setting is simply ignored.
    I am not so sure if it is Opera developers fault, otherwise why it was working on Symbian Anna ???
    If nokia programmers have changed some standards (if they did - I do not have such knowledge) they should also support some backward compatibility. From my point of view (user point of view) it is simply regression. I have also reported this problem to Nokia Care without any result and response. Since that time I am checking updates regularly and instead reasonable fixes I got several minor updates related to social networking or alike . It is frustrating.
    In fact currently I am not even sure who should I bother with this problem, Nokia developers or Opera developers ?

  • Excel 2007 starts ie always, not my default browser firefox 3.6.1.2

    Regardless of my default browser settings, excel 2007 always opens links in IE. This is extremely annoying especially when I am trying to debug an application.
    Note this is because Firefox is not opening not about when it opens. So far, excel is the only application where I've noticed this.

  • Firefox not default browser when browser not open

    I know how to set a default browser settings in Safari, but here's the problem. I have Firefox/Mozilla and unless I am using it and have it open, my computer uses Safari as my default browser. When I open Safari (with no Firefox pages open) and go to the applications list to choose default browser, Mozilla/Firefox is not listed anywhere. I notice when I do open Firefox browser, it opens up like another drive, not in the applications list, but in the drive list where it shows Mac HD etc, creating it's own finder folder and everything, not like an internal application. I think this is why Safari is still set as default browser if I haven't opened Firefox. Once I open Firefox, then open Safari, I can select Firefox, it shows it in the drives window, not applications. So the problem is, if I have not opened Firefox and I click on a link in an email, Safari opens up and not Firefox. Is there a way to get Firefox recognized as an application and pull up in the applications list without it being open?
    Thankyou.

    You have not installed Firefox. You are running the application directly from the disk image you downloaded.
    Double-click on the .dmg file that contains Firefox. The disk image will mount on the Desktop. A Finder window will open automatically, drag the Firefox icon from the window to your Applications folder. Eject the mounted disk image and delete the .dmg file (or archive it somewhere.)

  • How do I make Firefox NOT my default browser and restore Internet Explorer as default browser?

    I used to have Internet Explorer as my default browser and when I went to Firefox it asked me if I wanted Firefox as my default browser and I always sad no. I must haves screwed that up somehow and I want to go back to Explorer as default.
    == This happened ==
    Not sure how often

    To make Internet Explorer your default web browser, you can click on '''Tools''' from the toolbar at the top and select '''Internet Options'''. Then select the '''Programs''' tab from the top of the window to access the default browser settings. You might want to also choose to be alerted if Internet Explorer is not your default browser. Click '''OK''' to save your changes.
    Please also be aware of that Firefox's latest version is [http://getfirefox.com 3.6.4] while you're running 3.5.9.

  • How can I remove Firefox as my default browser?

    I do not want Firefox as my default browser at this time. Please advise how I can release Firefox from being my default browser.

    So if there is a link in some other application, what do you want to happen when you click it?
    The default browser settings are stored in the Windows Registry. In Windows XP there was a handy dialog to change the application responsible for handling URLs, but I haven't found it in Windows 7. If you find directions for editing the settings in Vista or Windows 7, then you could try blanking out the settings for how to handle URLs. It's always a good idea to make a backup before tweaking registry settings manually.

  • Mail treats Safari as default browser

    I'm using Mac OS X 10.5.6
    Whenever i open a link from Mail.app or i right click and press search google, Safari opens up instead of my default Browser Firefox !
    What to do ?

    For some reason, Safari always opens if you use Search in Google through Mail, regardless of the default browser. I've always had that issue, though now I'm running Safari 4 Public Beta.
    However, clicking Mail links does bring up the proper browser. I seems as if the context menus on Leopard for Search in Google are "hard-coded" to Safari instead of respecting the default browser settings.

  • Why don't the options to not check if Firefox is the default browser, set the homepage to a blank page, and password settings hold?

    Why don't the options to not check if Firefox is the default browser, set the homepage to a blank page, and password settings hold? It opens to a firefox page and asks if I want to make firefox the default and has the checkbox checked to check for default with every launching.
    Just updated to Firefox ESR 24.6.0

    This article lists a number of possible reasons that Firefox might be unable to save your preference changes during your session, or that they might be overridden at startup: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
    Another common issue is a feature of security or utility software that protects you from unwanted browser settings changes by reverting them back to an earlier state. For example, Advanced SystemCare's Surfing Protection feature can do this. You may need to turn off such features, if you have them, in order to keep your changes.

  • How do I set up a different default browser other than firefox?

    I would like my juno email page to come up everytime I open a new page but I can't seem to figure out how to change my default browser. Right now anytime I open a new tab the search engine is blank and it shows avg search engine. No matter what I put in the search engine after it goes to that page the search engine goes blank again. Because it keeps going blank it also keeps bringing you back up to it. So you might click on something and start writing and next thing you know you're writing in the browser again all because it disapears. It's very annoying. I want to get it off the avg search engine so I stop having these problems. I use to always have it open to my email start page so I would like to do that again or anything else if it will stop going to avg and it will keep what I ask for in the browser.

    Normally, Firefox will fill the new tab page with 9 thumbnails for your frequently visited sites. You can change that to the Juno URL if you like. Here's how:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''newtab''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''browser.newtab.url''' preference and enter your preferred page:
    * ''Page thumbnails (default)'' => about:newtab
    * ''Blank tab'' => about:blank
    * ''Built-in Firefox home page'' => about:home
    * ''Any other page'' => full URL to the page ''you may want to copy this from another tab first for easier pasting''
    Press Ctrl+t to open a new tab and verify that it worked. Fixed?
    * If Firefox ''refuses to save the change'', check your Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, for something named Search Protect and get rid of it.
    * If Firefox ''ignores the change'', one of your extensions may be overriding it. You can review, disable, and/or remove extensions on the add-ons page:<br><br>3-bar menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > ''in the left column click'' Extensions
    IMPORTANT: Your More System Details shows a user.js file in your profile. Firefox will use this file at startup to override your previous session settings. This article describes how to track down and remove the file: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
    Any luck?

  • NavigateToURL not working on Mac Projector with Firefox as Default Browser

    I'm making a CD with both a PC (exe) and Mac (app) projector file on it.  I have a button that navigates the user to our client's website with the following code:
    var webBtnURL:String = "http://www.clientswebsiteURL.com";
    web_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, gotoWebsite);
    function gotoWebsite(e:MouseEvent):void
         navigateToURL(new URLRequest(webBtnURL), "_blank");
    This works perfectly on the PC projector file, with either Firefox or IE as the default browser.  However, I've found that if Firefox is the default browser on the Mac side, it just opens Firefox and navigates to a blank page.  If Safari is the default browser it works fine.  The Mac I was testing this on was a PowerPC instead of an Intel Mac, so I don't know if that makes a difference or not, but it had the latest version of Firefox on it.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    kglad wrote: otherwise, you can publish for air (in your publish settings).
    I need to look more into Air.  I just don't know much about it at the moment.  What are its benefits?  Would the end users need to have it on their computers or will it be packaged into the EXE just like the Flash Player is?
    kglad wrote:
    everyone that hasn't already set flashplayer security settings will be warned about a security sandbox issue and allowed the option to allow your file to access another file on the internet.  if they chose to not allow that, your url will not open.
    I don't recall having set any security setting for Flash on my Mac (although it's possible I did at some point) and I didn't get any options, just a blank webpage.  If I were to go back into the Flash settings on my Mac, I may be able to allow the projector to open a website even when Firefox is the default browser?
    Thanks.
