8130 Pearl - Call Log & Messages disappearing!

I have had this phone for about a year, and this problem happens on and off, and I am finally sick of it. Texts, incoming.outgoing calls, email messages, even Facebook notifications on the FB app are all disappearing. The call log will disappear literally seconds after I make or receive a call. Same with emails and texts. What is casuing this and please please help me fix it!!!

That's a pretty common question asked and answered here on this site:
First thing? Check the File Free at Options > Status, what is the number at File Free?
Now, remove the battery of your device, hold a minute, replace and reboot. What is the File Free now?

  • Call Log auto deletes

I let my brother borrow my 8130 for a day and ever since then my call logs, messages, and emails are all automatically deleted once a day.  I dont know how to disable this feature.  Any suggestions?

i had this problem before and it was related to the memory.  i purchased a memory card and transferred all my pictures, ringtones, etc on it.   You might want to close all your opened conversations, maybe clean out some of the items in your custom dictionary as well. I also run the memory cleaner everyday and that seemed to help.
    hope that helps!

  • Curve - Call Log Being Stored in Work Email

Has anyone else experienced this problem?  My call log suddenly disappeared.  I called ATT & they had me erase a bunch of stuff, which didn't help.  I tried a few other things on my own, and now I have a call log, but it's showing up under my email icon, instead of under the phone icon.  It is SO annoying.  Does anyone know how to fix this?  Thanks.

Your call log disappeared, due to low memory.  The Blackberry devices have a Low Memory Manager, that once you hit 400k (or less) memory, the phone will begin deleting call logs and text messages.  Using a memory card will help alleviate these issues.  However, one other thing to remember, would be to make sure all programs are shut down properly.
On your Home Screen, press and hold Alt and Escape (Back - next to red END key) keys.
A window pops up, showing all open applications.
While continuing to hold down Alt, release Escape, and scroll through the app list, with your trackball.
When you find an application, let go of Alt.  This will open that application.
Use Menu - Close, or your Escape key, to close the program.
There are 5 programs that will never close completely, on a Blackberry.  These are: Browser, Home screen, Messages, Phone (Call log) and BB Messenger.  If you are running Brickbreaker, BB Maps, or even small apps, it will take a lot of memory.
Go into Options > Status, to view your File Free, to see what a difference it makes, once these are closed down.
    Hope this helps!!  =)

  • Call log keeps deleting

I have the BB Curve 8320..and my call log keeps disappearing! I want to keep a log in there for at least 10 days..maybe a couple of weeks, but it erases I think every time a new missed call comes in. Any advice?
    Thanks

Sounds like your device is running low on memory. For a quick fix try this: Go into Options | Status and look at the File Free numbers. Then reset your phone by removing the battery for 1 min then replacing it. Afterwards look at your File Free number again to see if it increased. Check the following link for ways to free up additional memory on your device: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB14320

  • Pearl 8130 "Call Log" Auto-Erase ??

i have my set up in "Call Logs" as Call log and the y erase by itself i dont know how and when ...sometimes i just pick up my phone to make a call and i go to my call log and theirs nothing...i dont get it

This is typically caused by the device having a low amount of memory. Check the following link for more information on maintaining the BlackBerry memory:

  • Call Log Disappearing

Recently, my Pearl 8130 has been automatically clearing out my call log for me. This is not doing me a favor. I can't seem to fing any preference settings specifically for the call log that might address this. What am I missing? Anyone run into this before?

You're facing memory constraints in your device. Perform the following steps -
Give a soft reset by removing the battery for 30sec.
Check how much memory is free in your device to Options -> Status -> Free Memory. To view all the database size go to Option -> Status -> click Menu button then select Database Sizes
Delete less frequently used application. To delete go to Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications -> highlight the application you want to delete -> click Menu and select Delete
If you stored your picture in device memory them move them to your media card

  • Call Logs in Verizon Pearl

I have the Verizon Pearl 8130 and although I have selected to save all phone calls in a list for 30 days, they get deleted within hours from the meesage/log list. I called Verizon and they said it is a RIM problem and they have no solution. Anybody have the same problem or any other suggestions? Thanks

Your phone is low on internal memory.  Most common cause is you've had some fun with the camera I bet.   You've likely filled up the internal memory, and as a consequence the BlackBerry deletes Call Logs, SMS messages then old email to free space.   Please reference the following document:
Call and SMS logs disappear when BlackBerry smartphone is low on memory
Its also recommended that you get a Micro-SD card for media storage.

  • Call log disappears Q5

    Hello,
I´m having trouble with  my call logs disappearing on my Q5.
They are completely gone, also from the hub. No textmsg disappears, only call logs.
It seems as if the log stays on the phone for two-three days, and then it´s gone. I have also experienced that it can take longer, up to a week.
Have checked all previous tips about this. Shut down and started again, checked that nothing is set to auto-delete, checked that deleting browser history doesn´t delete call log (it doesn´t) and so on.
Anyone having any ideas to what this is? It is extremely annoying to loose call logs, especially when you need numbers that are not saved in your contacts.
    Thanks

no no, do not 'shut down' first...
Do one of these two processes below:
Restart: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, press and hold the upper edge power button about 20-30 seconds, ignore the 3-2-1 timer and hold until the screen goes black and you see the red LED.
    or
Reboot: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, using the side edge volume keys, press and hold down both of the Up and Down volume keys for about 20 seconds, ignoring the initial screenshot message... the screen will go black and reboot.

  • Help! My blkbry Pearl 8100 is deleting my emails and call log...

Can anyone help me with this issue?  I've read that this is a very common problem with the Pearl.  My emails and call log will be erased in a day, an hour, or even a few seconds after having received a message.  I don't know what to do.  I've tried erasing some things to free up memory, which was someone else's solution in another forum.  I've taken the battery out for at least 5 minutes, not sure what this can do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

with the phone take the battery out for about 30 seconds and put back in the phone will boot its self up that should recover some memory for you. you can also hold the alt key down and type LG LG and you can clear that history out to free up more memory and if you have any thing like games that you don't use or want get rid of them.

  • Disappearing Call Log & Emails

  • Randomly erasing messages and call logs.

I have a Blackberry Pearl 8100, it's started erasing my messages and call logs. When it starts doing it, it will delete messages before I even have a chance to recieve them, or read them. It will also freeze up while loading some applications.
I've checked my memory and it says I have 11379836 bytes free. I have a memory card so the only things  saved on the phone are the defaults and one picture. The only way to fix the messages thing is to take the battery out for a few minutes but it ends up doing it four or five times within a day.
    Please help! (=

  • Call log, text messages, emails, and facebook messages erasing

Last night when I realized that my entire call log and well as all of my text messages, a large portion of my emails, and some of my facebook messages had vanished. I thought I must have inadvertently done something to make that happen. The this morning when I woke up, the new text messages and calls I had made last night were gone too. Any ideas on what is happening and how I can stop it?

  • Corruption in Messages/Call Logs. Can't delete, or...

Just recently, for no apparent reason, I have had some serious problems with my N900!
When I try to send/receive a message, it comes up with an error every 30secs -
"Unable to send/receive messages. Device storage full. Free user space."
However, device storage is NOT full. Rootfs is at 76%.
I have two corrupt messages in Conversations, which cannot be deleted. Pressing Delete or Clear Conversation simply does nothing. I also have about 4 calls in recent calls which do not delete. I belive the database is corrupted, and this is causing the problem.
I CANNOT re-flash at the moment, my USB port is broken. However, I can change anything through SSH or xTerm.
Is it possible to simply navigate to the Conversations/Call Logs files through SSH, and delete them, or replace them with virgin ones, to fix this issue??

OUCH! at the USB.  i would send it back for that alone.
    but back to the firmware.
if that is the case, i would try to sync with Outlook via bluetooth to get your contacts and notes, webpages saved, but the hard part is the firware cleanboot.
wihtoue the usb, i am not sure at the moment how to reflash the unit.
when you backed up the unit, it backed up the coruption, so that will do you no good.  you will need to start over.
as soon as you can get this rebooted, i would create a back up to restore to forfuturre reference.

  • Blackberry pearl - losing e-mail, call logs, etc

I've had my blackberry for about a year, starting this week, my e-mail is deleting every 24 hours - even though e-mail settings request to hold e-mail for 15 days.  I have these settings for both work and home e-mail.
I also have "missed calls" set to show up on my message list, but missed calls are not showing here. When I have my phone list view set up as "call log," the calls do not log, so I have had to revert to "most recent" but occassionally losing this list as well.
I have done things like turn the phone off, take the battery out and put it back in, but cannot get the call log to work, and cannot get e-mail to hold more than 24 hours of messages.
At this point, the only thing I can think of is buying a new battery?  The one I have appears to charge fine, I have checked and double checked all of my settings.
    any other ideas/suggestions?
    Thanks
    Jenny

cathy, a Media card installed, alone, will not solve the problem.
You must still remove items from the device memory and manage the memory on the device proactively, or it could happen again.
