820e errors in user and message databases

Have started geting these pretty frequently on both user and message databases. I am finding them in the POA logfile. When this happens user sometimes gets an 820 error message and email closes. I run gwocheck structure check and fix nightly, and content check and fix on weekends. We have very large post office w around 100 users. Size of user db doesn't matter, it has happened on large users and smaller as well. Have tried doing structural rebuilds on user db, but these messages still come back again.

Hi Mary,
What kind of server is GroupWise running on (hardware, OS version, physical/virtual, etc)?.... could be the lock errors are caused due to the server not being able to handle requests quickly enough.
Also what's the GroupWise version running on the server?

    Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.

    For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
    Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge.

  • DR server still showing consolidation users and messages from production

    We are doing a DR exercise. My first. We copied the production database to the dr servers. Since they are on the same domain, we put entries in the host files on all our servers to spoof the prod server names to point to dr servers. Moved selected data files for essbase, etc to the dr application disks.
    Everything appears to be working except for HFM. I still see production users activity and messages in the shared services console when I go to administer, show consolidation user activity or messages.
    I have searched the registry, all database tables I could think of, and the application disks on the HFM and shared services services looking for a hardcoded IP and can not find one.
    The message below came out of the hfm config log which has the production database name (which when pinged points to the DR database serrver) but the IP listed is the production IP. Any suggestions?

    Couple more comments :
    1.) WHERE are you accessing HFM Web from? Locally on one of those servers or from another computer?
    If this were me at this point, I would break out Fiddler2 (to verify which servers web traffic is coming/going to) and then I would fire up wireshark (all network scanning) to try and figure out what server(s) are trying to talk ot production and when. Network Monitor from MS may be a good option as well as I believe you can see network traffic by PROCESS which will help you narrow down what program(s) are trying to hit production envirionment information.     My understanding is that HFM directly only has cluster information in the HFM database (HSX_CLUSTER_INFO, HSX_CLUTER_CONTROLLERS, HSX_CLUSTER_SERVERS, etc.) There shouldn't be any other machine specific information in HFM database, etc.
    I do know that the workspace has some redirects going on in the .CONF file; however, if there was something hardcoded, you would have found that...
    My guess is that something in the Shared Services/Foundation Services database is pointing to production as the other servers talk to that machine for config info. Otherwise, something is buried in a web config file, but you should have discovered that already.
    2.) Additionally, note that HOSTS file changes only affect DNS resolution. If there are any type of broadcast messages or WINS resolution happening that won't address it. To hardcode WINS resolution, you would update LMHOSTS file in the same folder as HOSTS. Using wireshark to monitor network traffic on the same subnet as those servers would definitely be valuable here...... Broadcast messages would be using MAC address of networkcard and not hostname, for instance.
    3.) Maybe try some simpler stuff first. What happens if you re-register the app through workspace? What about unregistering / re-registering server to shared services via configuration utility? (Though, I'd be a little bit concerned that it might unregister your real application if it is talking to production shared services...)

  • Activation error on FaceTime and Messages on iPad Air with new Apple ID

    I have successfully configured my 2014 MBP, 2010 Macbook Air, and iPhone 6 to use the new Apple ID. I found a service bulletin from Dec 22, 2014 entitled "If you get an error when trying to activate iMessage or FaceTime". It doesn't strictly apply because I cannot turn off FaceTime and Messages since they are not turned on. I have IOS 8.1.2 on the ipad. I have tried 'reset all settings' and 'erase all content and settings'. I have also tried reloading 8.1.2 from iTunes, all to no avail.  Is it a problem with an Apple Server? Is there anything that I can do?

    Actually there is likely nothing that you can do since the program is free apps per device and your relative has basically stolen your free apps.

  • Importing user and group database from 2.6 to 4.0

    I need to import the user and groups from version 2.6 ACS to version 4.0. The 2.6 online documentation talks of using the CSUtils to create a .txt back up of the users and group. But I cannot see how to import that into 4.0. Has anyone done this. Any info would be appreciated,

    I looked at what I had imported using the instructions you had supplied me and it looked fine, all users and group, tacacs privelege levels had been imported. I modified a router on our network to point at the ACS 4.0. on testing it looks like the passwords hadn't been copied across successfully. Logins are failing with 'invalid CS password' in the failed authentication log. If I changed the password manually it was fine.
    Have you seen that before?

  • User and Group Database Migration

    I am installing SecureACS 4.1 from scratch on a new Server. Is there a way for me to migrate the user and groups from a previous 2.4 and 3.0 vs install? there has to be an easier way to create all those groups and users?

    Someone at Cisco decided that from 4.0 onwards they wouldnt upgrade from every previous version any more.
    I think this means you'd have to upgrade the existing server to 3.1 then create a backup.
    NExt install 3.1 on the new server and restore the backup.
    Lastly upgrade the new server to 4.1 and cross your fingers it upgrades smoothly!
    An easier (but less complete) method is simply to run csutil -d on the first server, copy the dump file to the new one and then use csutil -l. HOWEVER... this can cause problems if you're group/user config uses NDGs (eg NDG->DCS command authorisation) because only NDG indexes are in the dump file.
    When you re-create the NDGs on the new server the indexes are likely all be different.
    So in summary only use the csutil route if your just moving very simple groups or users.
    BTW there is an option for csutil to load just the users from a dump file leaving groups untouched (run csutil -x to find out more)

  • After Reinstallation: avahi user and message bus errors

    I did a re-install of OSX 10.6.3 on a working copy, updated all software and did a permission repair. I however now get these console errors that did not happen before:

    The re-installation forgot to set something that was working on my system before. Could anyone please help me to correct this issue by hand?

    In the console window during boot. I've now done a clean install of OSX and the errors went away. They were entirely related to the process of re-installing the system over my existing copy. It seems that the re-installation is not entirely complete.

  • 820e error in user database after POA lock up on Friday..

    Have been able to use gwcheck and clean up other users who experienced this error, however one particular user is still not able to send or receive mail. I have her forwarding new mail to an alternate email address, her gw mail is being queued up. I have unloaded and restarted the POA a couple of times, and ran full gwcheck over the weekend. We are running GW 7.02, her account appears to be locked, and I am not sure how to unlock it. Would taking the email server down completely free it up? thanks! Mary

    Which OS/patchlevel are you running GroupWise on? And how long have these issues been going on (as you mention other users).
    Mybe some other (non Groupwise process) is grabbing hold of the file, some more details on the server and what's running on it would be good.

  • Many 820E errors that we cannot get rid of

    We have a Netware 6.5 sp8 fully patched server (including post sp8 patches). We have loaded on this server Groupwise 7 sp4. We are having a lot of troubles with 820E errors on particular user databases as well as many message databases.
    The three users in question, often cannot see new mail, even though we see mail for them come in through GWIA.
    We have tried rebuilding their database, re-creating their database, running various GWCHECKs against their databases. Nothing seems to get rid of these 820E errors for good.
    We do not have any virus protection on the server.
    We have downed the post office and renamed wpcsin and wpcsout folders. wpcsout did have a buildup of files in the normal queue (wpcsout\4), until we set those folders to purge immediate.
    We have not rebuilt any msg databases yet although we have a number of them squaking at us from the POA screen about 820E errors.
    For awhile our server was abending A LOT because we had IMAP turned on. We hooked up about 15 smart phones via IMAP to our system and BAM, we started abending. We have since turned off IMAP until we can solve this problem, and our server is no longer abending.
    Also, before this happened we got dangerously low on disk space (about 2% left). We have since added a Terabyte to our data pools and are out of hot water on THAT front.
    Also, because of the abending, we moved all of our groupwise modules into protected restartable memory. We have our MTA, POA and GWIA all in the same memory space with our web piece in it's own space.
    we continue to have massive 820E errors however. I cannot seem to find anything that is locking these database files. When I check on open files in NORM, I do see these user databases getting more nad more and more connections from the server.
    Anyone got any bright ideas?

    the reason these modules went into protected mode was because the server was constantly abending w/ IMAP issues when they connected their smart phones to the server. I've since made a separate GWIA only for IMAP which constantly restarts it's memory space w/ these same errors. I was considering archiving all their mail and killing their accounts, then FID change the archives and suck the mail back in, then deal w/ the MSG databases separately. I hate doing that for users that have archived mail in folders, cause bringing it back in stuffs it all into the INBOX. Very messy.

    You could try doing a structural rebuild on ALL (as can be specified in ConsoleOne, in the user/objects section of the PO maintenance dialog).
    This will rebuild all user and message databases, but will also cause the current indexer files to get disguarded causing a full reindex when the quick indexer next runs. Not to much of an issue, but you'd rather want that happen during off hours as it does affect search and list options.
    As for the usrxxx.db files. These should not grow to or beyond 2GB per file.... User databases that are 2Gb or close to that size can/will give unstable results for that user.
    Strange issues can pop up when there are underlying issues on the NSS volume, so do keep an eye out there. Also, before running a structural rebuild on ALL, make sure you have a good backup. This structural rebuild in itself should not give any issues, it's something I always do after upgrades and during certain maintenance tasks. It is however good/essential to have a good backup in case something pops up during this routine.
    Followup the structural rebuild with a structure-index check with fix selected, and after that content check with fix selected (no structure-index selected) and check the log output of all these jobs.

    It's used to point to the message database (seriously)... LOL! I've never seen it used anyplace I've done Essbase and to my knowledge no one has ever been the worse off for it. It's probably just as well that you deleted it.Regards,Bruce

    I am attempting to install MBAM 2.5 and on the configure reports page I am getting an error stating "Compliance and Audit Database domain account is not valid" when trying to specify the account. I am using the same account as the read only
    access domain user specified on the Configure Databases page.
    The account is not locked out and I reset the password but no dice. Any idea what is going on here? This is my second attempt at an install (removed all previous install pieces including the databases).

    I had the exact same problem. I had to add the account to the local administrators group in order to proceed. The installation then informs you that the account is an administrator at the end.
    I removed it from the admins group. Doesn't seem to have caused any problems. Everything is working OK.

    I'm very much new to Oracle 10g database and after all my search, I think this forum will help me to solve my puzzle. Installed Oracle 10g database and during installation created a Global database "TestDB". I created an user "user1" in sqlplusw, by logging in as system.
    Now I need to know, what privileges and permissions should be given to this "user1", so that I can create new users and create database by logging as "user1". I don't want to Inherit all the sytem privileges of SYSTEM or SYSDBA or SYS or SYSOPER.
    Is there a way where I could achieve this by explicitly granting the required privileges and permissions

    You may need to know all the views to get the privilege information.

    Solved it Just now! The user Name though was different in the USer accounts panel in Control Panel Windows. The actual USER name was PC. Found it in Advance USER name settings In windows.
    Use that USER name and You will be able to Login without an Issue!.
    PS: Cross Platform Is a goddam **** off!

  • Error when I create the database

    I install the peopletools 8.49 for Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 and my operating system is Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition Server Pack 1, v.1023.
    When I have installed the peopletools and the database, I modify the scripts in <PS_HOME>\scripts\nt and then change to <PS_HOME>\setup\PsMpDbInstall and double click setup.exe to run the database configuration wizard. All of the scripts are running correct, but the Data Mover is error. So I run the Data Mover manually. I create Data Mover import scripts and run it. It’s ok. Then I check the logs. I find the follow error:

    I create the database manually too. The errors are the same. I can login in data mover by SYSADM user or people user and the database and listener is running. However, I run version application engine program:
