822 Wifi and Verizon Router MI424-WR rev D

Has anyone else with this router experienced connection issues?  It is not consistent in that sometimes when I get home my phone connects immediately.  But at once in a while, the phone refuses to connect giving the message "Connection Unsuccessful: Your phone couldn't connect to the WIFI network name because there was no response from the network.  Please try again later."  It usually takes me rebooting the router before the phone connects.  This is frustrating because no other device in my house has connection issue at all.
I am on firmware 4.0.16.1.56.0.10.14.4 on the router.

Have you checked if there is a newer firmware?

  • Slingbox, Time Capsule and Verizon router setup

    So here is my setup:
Verizon router with wireless ON.  Time capsule set to share an IP address(not in Bridge mode).  This gives me the double NAT error message.
Sling catcher hooked into the Time capsule on one end and to the Slingbox on the other.
So, I hooked the slingbox up to the verizon router, configured it.  Then hooked the sling catcher to the TM and ran setup again.  Set up port forwarding per the instructions.  Things seem to work fine, although under the slingbox directory it says that I am not set up for internet viewing.
However, i CAN connect via wifi and over 3g on my iphone fine.  With WIFI, I am using my Time capule for wireless not the verizon wifi.  The last time I tried to turn off the verizon wifi i don't think the slingbox worked.  The last time I tried to set up the time capule under bridge mode the slingbox did not work.  If I am in bridge mode there is no option to setup port forwarding.
So I know that my setup is not correct but it is working.  The problem is the speeds.  I have a slingbox pro- getting about 1200-1400 kbs over the internet, and about 500-550 over wifi on the iphone.  I'm getting about 450-550 over 3g on the iphone.  This seems too slow.
    Any suggestions?

Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the Time Capsule icon, then click Edit
Click the Network tab at the top of the next window
Insure that the setting for Router Mode = Off (Bridge Mode)
Click Update and allow a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart
    Very important......
Power off both the Verizon modem/router and the Time Capsule
    Wait a minute or two
Start up the Verizon modem/router first and allow it to run a full minute
Then start up the Time Capsule

  • AirportExtreme and Verizon  Router Model #: MI424WR

how to discconect the Verizon Fios WiFi from the router model M1424WR and connect my Airport Extreme?

I don't touch third party stuff, but you could just create your own network too without needing to turn the other off. Connect the rooters with an ethernet cable.

  • Can i use express for wifi and my router for ethernet or do i need the extreme ?

Hi there . I'm interested in being able use the dual band feature of the new Airport products for better coverage on my iphone 5 . I have a wireless router with known conflicts with the iphone 5 . As I have never had any airport products I'm not exactly sure how they work . I understand that they don't have connection to internet , so I will have to continue to use my router actual . Currently I use the four ethernet sockets on my router , so my question is can I disconnect the wifi on my router connect the Express by cable and use it's outport to connect to what was originally connected to my router , continue using my router for the other ethernet connections and use the Express for my wifi connections ??
Thanks for any help & advice .

You must have an Internet connection to use an AEX as you've described. So you need to connect it to an Ethernet port on your router. Since you are using all the ports on the router what you need to do is get a multi-port switch. The switch connects to a LAN port on your router. It then provides you with 3, 4, or 5 additional ports (depends on the switch capabilities.) You would connect the device you disconnected from your router to a port on the switch. Then connect the AEX to one of the free LAN ports on the switch. In this way the AEX can Join your existing network (also known as Bridge Mode.) You now have an additional wireless router. For this to work as you want you must disable the wireless radio in your non-Apple router.

  • 10.4.11, WPA,  AND Verizon Router

Should I be able to connect wirelessly with WPA encription to a Verizon Wireless N Actiontec Router with OS 10.4.11?
Have an old G3 and G4 that's worked forever and with the new router can't seem to get on line, though see the network name.  No problems with Snow Leopard or Lion on other macs
    thanks

I hooked the previous b/g Actiontec router back up and connected WPA ASCII and TKIP and connected no problem.  WPA has ASCII and HEX as preshared key choices and TKIP/AES/TKIP & AES as encryption algorithm.
My understanding is WPA is better than WEP and I should not go with the wireless n router since it seems I have to step down in security.  Don't understand why this is going on.

  • IPad WiFi and Verizon MiFi Hotspot

I started using the Verizon MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot with my 32GB iPad today. Works like a charm. I used it with my iPad, Windows 7 netbook and iTouch simultaneously. I authorized it on the Windows 7 machine. I need to try to install Verizon Manager on my MacBooks and authorize it for them so that I can use it untethered and off the MiFi's battery.

I have a MiFi too (from the 3Gstore). Works absolutely great with all my devices (iPad, iPhone 4, Sony laptop). Speeds vary by location, obviously, but the signal strength is very solid, with no drops so far.
The connection problem mentioned by poster Nielsen is almost certainly due to not having gone through the "activation" process on the VZ Manager. If the MiFi isn't activated you will see that your devices are connected but you still won't have access to the Internet through the connection. You MUST activate that connection (i.e., Verizon confirms that your MiFi is registered with them and you have purchased a data plan with them).

  • Can I have my Time Capsule wifi and my Verizon router wifi on at the same time?

I want to have my verizon wifi on at the same time as my time capsules wifi but I don't know if it interfere.  There's an app that you can use as a remote for your cable box but you need to be on your routers wifi.
    Thanks,
    Zach

Suggest that you run a few speed checks on both wireless networks with a computer in same room as the wireless router using a site like www.speedtest.net on your browser.
If you are getting close to your plan speeds, then you likely do not have interference issues.
Most routers will scan to find the best available channel to use, so assuming that your equipment is working OK, things should be OK. Try to keep the Verizon router and Time Capsule at least 6-8 feet, or a few meters from each other.
This assumes that you are not living in a crowded situation like an apartment complex, where intereference is pretty much a fact of life due to the very limited number of wireless channels that are available.

  • Bridging Actiontec MI424-WR Rev E Router to NETGEAR WGR614 v9 Router

I would like any information on how to succesfully bridge the MI424-WR Rev E router to the NETGEAR WGR614 V9 ROUTER.
I would also like it to keep On DEMAND features, as every time I attempt to fix this bridge, I lose all widgets and on demand.
The reason for my switchover is because the router provided with the verizon fios, is just awful. The signal strength is terrible, and although it is a G class WiFi router, the NETGEAR router which I am switching over to, is also a G CLASS router and can keep FULL SIGNAL throughout the entire house, where as the VERIZON PROVIDED router, loses a bar as soon as I step out of the bedroom door. That is LITERALLY 6 feet away.
If I can't switch it over succesfully now, the only other option is to switch to cablevision, due to their competitive internet speeds and the fact they supply you with a free N GRADE router.
Please help, it's an utter pain.
IT IS CONNECTED VIA COAX to the Verizon BOX downstairs
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks MATE!
    Worked a charm !

  • Bonjour and Verizon Actiontec router MI424WR

The Verizon Actiontec router MI424WR does not allow Bonjour with its default settings.
To allow Bonjour to operate, one must open the Router and select >Advanced>IGMP Proxy.  Change the setting IGMP Proxy from Enabled to Disabled, then apply the setting.
This will allow Documents to Go to sync using WiFi, and will probably solve problems for other items that use Bonjour.

Stevesvp is correct:  it's an Actiontec router issue.  And it's not just with Mac OS X:  the same problem happens with other devices that have nothing to do with Apple (TiVo, Samsung TVs, etc).  I'm not sure why 10.4 works, maybe it's using an older way of accessing Bonjour (the Bonjour protocol has been undergoing changes to try to address complaints from large network admins about chattiness), but it's not Apple's fault.  And this problem doesn't happen with any other router than Actiontec.
The Disabling IGMP Proxy via the Actiontec's "Advanced -> IGMP Proxy" menu works fine and solves the problem.
One complication is that the new Rev I of the Actiontec router removed the link to the IGMP page from the Advanced menu.  If you have that Rev, however, you can still get to the IGMP Proxy menu via a deep link discovered by user BigDaddy on DSLReports.  Just loging to your router as normal, then use this link, which will take you directly to the now-hidden IGMP Proxy config page:
    192.168.1.1/index.cgi?active_page=6059
I can confirm that this works on my Rev I router.

Simple.. bridge the TC.. in the apple utility in the NAT and DHCP area.
Plug it into the FIOS router.. you can turn off wireless in the TC if you want.. or use it.. it can work faster if you are nearby and can select 5ghz.. but up to you.

Actiontec MI424-WR Rev. E worked with mine until the East Coast storm crashed my system at the beginning of July. I found that Windows 8 does not take kindly to not being shut down properly or, multiple power losses. Put it on a UPS. Mine needs new batteries.
Windows 7 doesn't either.  Corrupted disk indexes and something broken in startup.  Luckily system repair fixed the startup issue and several hours of disk activity straightened out the indices.  More of an issue is the disappearance of all my usb 2 ports.  Luckily still have 2 usb 3 ports so have a kb and mouse again.

I get full bars on my iPad 2 through my whole house.. Be standing right beside the router with iPhones and it cuts in and out.. Drops from 3 wifi bars to 1

I am having the same problem with brand new Ipad Mini at my house.
It connects to the WiFi fine - but will not pull an IP address in DHCP mode, or if I set all the IP info statically - it still will not get any network access.
This doesn't look like a WiFi issue, as it does connect and is seen by the WiFi Access Point.  All the normal WiFi fix stuff doesn't help.
    - Using a Dlink DAP-2553 which is less than 2 months old.
Other devices connect fine, including Ipad 2.
This same Mini worked fine at another house and also connected to a mobile hotspot fine....so seems to be some weird IP issue with maybe this Access Point or maybe the older Router that I have (older Netgear)?
I am actually a network engineer and still have not been able to find a solution.  Both the Ipad Mini and the Dlink WAP have the latest firmware loaded.
Wondering if anyone has found a solution to this problem.

  • Using Open DNS etc with a Verizon and secondary router

I have a Airport Extreme Base Station setup in Bridge Mode to the Verizon router. How do I add  or replace the DNS server to Open DNS etc?

You need to set your desired DNS servers in the Actiontec since that is your DHCP server.  When the AEBS is in bridge mode, its DHCP server is disabled.
    Login to the Actiontec
Click on the My Network icon
Select Network Connections from the left menu
Select Broadband coax or Broadband ethernet as appropriate.
    Click on Settings
Across from DNS Server, select "Use the following DNS Server addresses" from the pulldown.
Enter the primary and secondary DNS Server addresses for OpenDNS.
    Click Apply.

    Hello Rattisate,
Sorry to hear you are not able to connect to Wi-Fi on your MacBook Pro.  I would be concerned about this too.  You can find information on how to troubleshoot this in the following article:
Troubleshooting Wi-Fi issues in OS X Lion and Mac OS X v10.6
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4628
Follow the steps in the section labeled, "Symptom: My Mac does not connect to the Internet."
Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • My wife and I have a family account at Verizon and are thinking of getting the IPhone 4S.  My question is can we both use the functions of Icloud on the same account at Verizon or do we have to have separate accounts to be able to use all the features

My wife and I have a family account at Verizon and are thinking of both getting the IPhone 4S.  My question is can we both use all of the features of Icloud with one account at Verizon or do we need to have separate accounts?

If Mail in Mavericks is the same as earlier versions you can select accounts in the sidebar, so that you can either display the inboxes for individual accounts, or the contents of all the account inboxes. (If the accounts don't show click the disclosure triangle next to 'INBOX'). The layout may have changed since the version I have - Snow Leopard - but you should be able to do the same thing.
