8310 issues

My curve 8310 is 3 days old now, i haven't added any applications or anything.  During calls it will cut off, black screen, white screen with hourglass, then come back on as if nothing has happened.  It also occasionally loses connection with the SIM card. I can turn it off and back on and it's fine, but aggravating.

If it creeps back in within an hour or two and you've launched no apps, then indeed an OS reload might be in order. But first, are you launching anything at all and then not fully closing it? And the back key nor the red key properly closes apps...those two keys leave it to the app to decide what to do, and some stay resident and consume resources, dragging down overall performance. Rather, the BBKey and "close" or "exit" is what properly closes apps.

  • 8310, MicroSDHC card & Media loading issues !

Hi, My first post & a query!!
I have an 8310 provided by my work, and because it is provided by them (via O2) there seem to be a few things locked on it to minimise our tampering!  ...... I have purchased an 8gb Micro-SDHC card for it with the intention of using it for music, but whenever I try to load music onto it I can only get it to accept/recognise about 2.5gb of the music downloaded to it!
When synch via device manager it will only accept 2.5gb. If it copy the music files using a card reader, it will only "see" a portion of what is copied .....
When looking in the "Media Card" section of "options" it recognises the card and shows 7.4gb total space. Media card support is "On", no encryption, mass storage "On", etc., etc.,
It says it's operating system is v4.2.2.181
Any ideas as to where I'm going wrong? or what can be done to resolve my issues?

  • Issue with mobile 8310

Hi my mobile 8310 no new setup

    Hi,
Thanks very much for the quick reply. I have previously tried tapping the 'Turn On' button in the banner. This has the effect of directing me to the login page for Mobile Link. When I get there, if I either back out of that screen or close the Reader application, the banner remains on the screen in the application. I have tried again just after reading your response, and there is no change. I would prefer not to activate mobile link at this time, but would still like to dismiss the banner.
Again, thank you for your assistance.
    Kindest regards,
    Headroom

  • BB Curve 8310 - Battery Issues - Lasts 30 Minutes

Okay so I received a used BB Curve 8310 phone from my aunt. I had put it on the charger and let it charge for a whole night while I slept, planning to start using it the next day. I had put my SIM card in the phone the night before, than I put it on the charger. The next day I woke up and the phone was completely charged. I began my daily routine and was texting my friends and family. I noticed in the first ten minutes my phone charge was dropping dramatically. I had lost a whole entire battery bar in the first ten minutes. I was kind of worried about this and I had continued my day. In the next ten minutes after that, I had lost another bar. Than another 10 minutes after that the battery had already lost 2 and 1/2 bars. It died within 30 minutes of taking the phone off the charger in the morning. I thought that maybe it was just a one time deal, but I put it back on the charger and let it recharge and took it off. It died after losing 2 and 1/2 bars again (30 minutes).. The battery signal doesn't show it's dead. It just dies after losing 2 1/2 bars of battery. I have done this three or four times and it does it everytime.
Is there a way to fix the battery, or do I have to buy a new one?

Please let the battery retire if its been used for two years. It would also help the phone perform at its optimum level if it has a good battery.
    Ron

  • 8310 - 8gb card issue

My curve 8310 recognizes all 8 gigs (7.5 formatted) and the same shows up when I connect the phone to my computer.  However, I am unable to copy more than 4 gigs to the card through the phone-usb connection.
I am using the newest version of the desktop software.  My os is 4.2.2.170
Do I need to find a way to trasnfer the files to the card and then put the card back into the phone or is there a way to do is straight through the usb connection?  Thanks in advance.

You can use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software to transfer media filesfrom BlackBerry to PC and visa versa.  When you load up the BlackBerry Desktop software you will see the icon called Media Manager. Media Manager is what you use to transfer media files.  If BlackBerry Desktop Manager is not installed on your PC then you can the find the software on the cd that came with your BlackBerry and install it. When you do install it make sure you select BlackBerry Internet Service during the installation wizard.....
    cheers!

  • Blackberry 8310 syncing issues with Blackberry charging pod!

Just got a very nice looking charging pod for BB 8310, ive connected it to computer and when BB sat in it, it charges, the light on pod remains white BUT i cannot get desktop manager to recognise the BB and sync.
    Any ideas why?
    Many Thanks
    Simon

which charging pod are you talking about ?
if you are talking about this one :
    http://crackberry.com/accessory-review-blackberry-charging-pod-blackberry-curve-8300-8310-8320-8330
well, it's a charging cradle. You connect it to your computer but the only thing that is transferred is 5V energy.

If not, I have seen several times that swapping the SIM for a new one will work. You can do that at your local retailer.

  • Battery Icon with Red Line on BB 8310

So, how pervasive is the problem of theBlackberry 8310 and its icon with the red line across from it?  Is it a problem with the battery? Or is it a problemwith the phone?  IS there any fix?
Mine came brand new in a box a few daysago. It came with a blue battery (C-S2). As soon as I put the battery into thephone, the dreaded Icon (battery with a red line through it) showed up.  I charged it, thinking that means the batteryis empty and left it charging for over 5 hours, hoping the Icon will go away.It never did, and now 4 days later and an infinite number of battery pulls, some with a twist or two, it is still there. If it was any otherpiece of technology I would dismiss it as junk. But, oh, this is the famous BB.
Instead, I did some research, have spentupwards of 15 hours over the last 4 days, trying to figure it out. I ran intolots of things on the Net, including the crackberry postings with people sayingthat they got rid of the problem by dropping (!!) the BB from 3-4 feet, sometimes repeatedly, until it fixed itself. Others report the problem aftersome time of use (flaky construction?). On this forum alone there are at least4 recent postings with the identical problem (search for “8310 battery line”and find the post of “Spyridonas” 12-13-08, of “black_black_b” 06-10-09, of  “hades” 09-27-09 and of “Alien_X” 09-28-09.  None of those seems to have got the attentionof anyone from RIM, and nobody offered any meaningful solution.  As people have reported time and again, it isvery unlikely to be the problem with the battery, so we are left to conclude thatthe phones are lemons.
We spend lots of money for a useless pieceof junk and nobody at RIM cares. If this was a car, it would have been recalled a long time ago. I will get my money back and buy somethingelse, maybe a Nokia or even a Moto. Watch out RIM, you are pissing off a lot ofpeople, and some of them are the wrong people to piss off.

I think you did. You pointed out each instance you could find when this fix did not work. You failed to point out the dozens of times this fix did work.
So, to answer your initial post questions:
So, how pervasive is the problem of theBlackberry 8310 and its icon with the red line across from it?
Not very pervasive. It certainly is not one of the top ten problems judging from the questions I see asked here and elsewhere.
Is it a problem with the battery?
Could be. Have you tried a brand new battery (I forget if you said).
Or is it a problemwith the phone?
Again, could be. There could be an issue with your battery contacts on the device.
    IS there any fix?
For most, yes. We've been over that.
Try cleaning the contacts on the device. See if that helps. Try a new battery... and often new batteries are very low or close to dead upon purchase so follow the directions above to charge and bootup.

I had already seen this bit of lame “advice”  that has been circulating on BB boards and hadtried it several times,
Oh, thank you so much. You know, you get what you give. Your initial post above did not state what you had tried several times. We don't read minds, well, I don't at least.
    Alien_X wrote:
Anytime you buy a brand new item and it fails to work after 4 days of trying anything you can find I”d say you got a lemon.
You've had it four days, brand new, and you haven't returned it for a new device? That would be my first suggestion had you stated that first off. I would not keep that device if first off it didn't work. But a lemon? Nah, it's not a pervasive problem inherent to the model, which is what a lemon is normally defined as.

  • OS 4.5 upgrade for AT&T on a BB Curve 8310 4.2.2.170

I called AT&T twice about the upgrade to 4.5 and both times their support desk (611 on any AT&T handheld) had no idea what I was talking about and/or where and when I can upgrade. Can anyone tell me if
    a) AT&T has authorized and released the upgrade yet and if they did where can I find and download it
    b) does anyone know if an upgrade would have any negative effect on my current corporate e-mail service provided by my company. It's my personal BB but my company upgraded or registered it somehow so I can receive my corporate e-mail.
    Thanks

ATT has not authorized or released the upgrade.  However, many many ATT and other users are upgrading anyway.  You can find it here:
    http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8300-series-discussion-curve/153055-latest-os-8310-4-5-0-108...
After any OS upgrade or OS reload you have to reactivate on the BES.  Just call your BES admins and get a password to reactivate.  They do it all the time and it's no big deal.

    Hi there,
Look for the icon on your homescreen that looks like a wrench. Select that, then go to Security Options > General Settings, press the BB Menu button and select Wipe Handheld.
That should work for you, but if you need further assistance, let us know.

  • Curve 8310 fails to read microSD card

    Greetings,
I bought a Blackberry Curve 8310 last summer and it worked fine until November of last year when the phone failed to read my Micro SD media card. Thinking the media card was the problem, I have bought a new media card a few months ago to try fixing the problem. The problem still persists and I need help getting this fixed.
I currently use Blackberry 4.5 Device OS. Under Options in the phone's menu:
    Media card support: on
    Encryption mode: none
    Mass storage mode support: on
Auto enable MSM when connected: Yes
    Total space: 1.8 GB
    Free Space: 1.4 GB.
This means the phone knows I have a media card but just cannot read it. For pictures, only the pictures I saved onto the microSD card using my computer can be seen, but pictures I took using the phone doesn't show up. When taking pictures, the camera indicates "File system out of resources". For music, all the music is visible, but when trying to play the songs, it doesn't do anything.
I have tried everything from turning off/on the phone, removing the battery to do a hard reset, not downloading any applications to see if they were the cause, and formatting the media card for blackberry use. I have even reformatted the phone 5 to 6 times and installed a clean new OS onto the phone and the problem is still there. The only short-term solution I found in fixing this problem is when using the Desktop Manager to backup my data on the phone. After backing up the data, the phone will recognize my media card and I can access it fine for about 2 to 3 days. Then the phone fails again and I have to keep backing up my data to get my phone to work. Now I am very tired of repeating this process. Either I get a long-term solution or I need a new phone (I believe I still have warrenty).
The phone is great but this problem is getting on my nerves. Someone please help me!
