8310 PDF Reading - Not Solved

Contrary to what my ham-fisted fingers hit (the Solved Button), I still can't read PDF files.   I am unable to read PDF files unless they are sent as actual email as attachments.  I intend to use the 8310 to read service manuals instead of my computer & some of the files are too large to email cost effectivly..  The prompt I get is "Unable to display file".  Any help is very much appreciated.

I finally found out how to solve this issue.
For some reason, I cannot use special characters or blank lines anymore in the configuration file.
So here is my new configuration file that works:
# hjkl -> ctsr
map t scroll down
map s scroll up
map c scroll left
map r scroll right
# JK -> TS
map T navigate next
map S navigate previous
# r -> p
map p rotate rotate-cw
# R -> u
map u reload
# b <-> a car le a est plus accessible
map b adjust_window best-fit
map a adjust_window width
# Mode Index
map [index] t navigate_index down
map [index] s navigate_index up
map [index] r navigate_index expand
map [index] c navigate_index collapse
map [index] R navigate_index expand-all
map [index] C navigate_index collapse-all

Safari will not download/display most pdf files. Says "adobe reader doesn't trust it". Files are okay. Pdf reader is not. Any ideas of how to get this laptop safari to behave?

Problem appears solved thanks to post I found elsewhere on this forum. My thanks to anyone who pondered the pooryl described (I now realize) issue.

  • Firefox PDF reader not showing watermarks

Firefox PDF reader is not showing watermarks.
People can see (and print?) my free samples minus the watermarks that are in them.
    eg at lauriewilliamsmusic.com/composers/laurie-williams/auld-lang-syne/
Watermarks were put in by PDFill Free PDF Tools and always show up in Adobe Reader.
I never imagined that such a failure could happen until I was checking things today and saw it. Not good.
Just realised that this thing is asking about my browser. I'm writing this in Chrome but I have the latest version of Firefox.

    Hi Laurie,
I appreciate the issue & problems it causes you, however this is not the best place to ask.
    TL:DR
Explain the issue very briefly in a suitable mailing list/forum
    #See listing https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/forums/
#* This one would seem approprite to ask about the technical aspects [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/forums/#dev-pdf-js #dev-dpf] <br /> And possibly this one to ask about the watermarks being defeated [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/forums/#privacy #privacy]
#* Initially Ask for advice in where to discuss this mater if not their forum. Ensuring you make the point it is a global Firefox issue with a Firefox default feature and not a site specific problem.
#Post back here to keep us informed of your progress, including links to the conversations..
I must immediately say I do not know the first thing about the technical aspects of the Firefx PDF reader.
I surmise that it is not a deliberate intention to remove the watermarks but a limitation in the PDF reader's ability to support such a feature. However I could be wrong as there are people who would; no doubt; argue Firefox should not support watermarks, as that restricts free access to material on the Web.
This is not the place for any such discussion about internet rights. Neither do we discuss development decisions and policies. It is often difficult to find anywhere on Mozilla where they do discuss anything like that retrospectively.
IIRC Admin Staff on this site agreed to identify and list any such resources, but I don't recall anything being done about that.
You could just file a bug (I could help if necessary) for such a feature, however it would be much better to start a discussion about this first with the people concerned. A bug filed without prior discussion with module owners may well be effectively ignored.
I've flagged this as offtopic, but I will not lock the post until I know you have found somewhere to discuss this.

  • PDF Reader not printing after upgrading to Windows 8.1

After installing the Windows 8.1 update, the PDF Reader doesn't print. Documents don't even show up in the queue.  I'm able to print from desktop apps (i.e., Photoshop, Word, etc.) just fine so it appears to be strictly a Reader issue.
    Anyone have any suggestions?
    Richard

    Hi,
Please locate to Windows Charm menu, click Settings, change PC settings, and find Devices option, then remove all printers in Devices.
Following this, please try printing through PDF Reader.
    Hope this helps!

  • PDF reader not opening in I.E.

When I try to open a PDF from I.E. through download then it gives an error saying "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found"
    I.E. version : 8.0
    PDF Reader version: 9.4.6
    I have tried the following:
    1) Deleting the browser Cache.
    2) Entering URL in Security(enhanced)
    3) Checking the Display in Browser option.
Can some one suggest any other way I can fix this problem?

    Hi  Vimal,
When you install Microsoft Dynamics CRM, SharePoint Server integration is enabled by default. However, for a richer user experience, you can do the following:
Install Microsoft Dynamics CRM List Component for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 server or Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013.
Enable Document Management for Entities: Select the entities in Microsoft Dynamics CRM for which you want to create and manage documents on SharePoint Server. More information: Enable
document management for entities. When you enable document management for an entity in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, a Documents link under the Common group in the left pane is added for the all entity records
in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Web application. You can use the Documents link to create or manage SharePoint Server location records for the entity record.
Specify the target SharePoint server: Specify the URL of a site or site collection on the SharePoint Server 2010 or SharePoint Server 2013. This URL is used to automatically create folders and document libraries
    on SharePoint.
For more information, please refer to the blog:

  • Adobe PDF Reader not appearing under IE8 Manage Add-ons

I have Adobe Reader XI Installed.
    Using Windows 2008 Server R2.
I tried looking under the 'All Add-ons' and 'Run without permission' drop down menu and still couldn't find Adobe PDF Reader.

They do assure me that they are using the 32-bit version of IE.  I think the add-on doesn't show at all in the 64-bit version.

  • PDF reader not displaying background on my computer.

My problem is I am trying to open a .pdf on my computer, but the blue background does not show up. If i open it on my mobile or another computer, it works fine. So the problem seems to be with my computer only. I am using windows 7 and adobe reader XI Version 11.0.10.32, I have tried to repair and reinstall the adobe program, but the problem still persists. I have tried to open the same pdf file with another pdf viewer and everything is fine. so the problem seems to be only with adobe on my pc. Can you please help to fix this issue?
If i have not posted this question in the correct place, please let me know where i should post it.
PS: I would like to send snapshot explaining the problem, but i dont know how to attach it here.
    thanks a alot.
    Regards,
    Demi

I am having exactly the same problem.
i've tried swapping the Background to be a watermark instead but still having the same thing. Most browsers show it, but Chrome on windows and Safari on Yosemite don't show it.
Is there a fix for this? Its pretty crucial as its on my resume that I need to be sending out this week to find more work!

  • PDF reader not working

Hello all, just downloaded eZReader DOC PDF Lite for my X3-02 (v.06.00) and it doesn't work! When I choose to open either PDF or DOC files,it just says "unsupported file format".Any tip or piece of information will be much appreciated.

Did you try launching the application first.. and see if you get the option to select the File you want to open ? If 'YES",  try that way..

  • Safari pdf reader not recognizing page numbers

Is there a way to code a link to a pdf so that Safari will open to a particular page within the pdf rather than to the front page?

I think I've discovered the problem, but I'm no expert, so you'd have to test it or apply your knowledge to determine if I'm correct. The Adobe document I liked to says that you must use the format
A HREF="http://www.example.com/myfile.pdf#page=4" (with < and > symbols at the beginning and end to enclose the link.)
for targeted links, and that you can't use "URLS containing local hard drive addresses (c:\folder\), then you cannot link to page numbers or set destinations."
The latter appears to be what you are doing; i.e., http://www.franciscan.edu/uploadedFiles/TopLevel/About/FactBook/FactBook.pdf#page=11
So if you were to change it to the former method, it should work.
As for testing, creating new User accounts is just like creating your own account initially: open system Preferences > Accounts and click on the "+" sign at the bottom left, give it a name and a password, then you can logout of the account you're in and into the new account for testing.

  • Does firefox 15 enables inbuild PDF reader by default ?

I'm unable to read my PDF files in firefox inbuild pdf reader (Not 3rd party plugin/Addon) ,
I would like to know does my firefox inbuild pdf is enable by default or not.

No, the built in Firefox PDF reader is not enabled in Firefox 15 (it is still under development). It may be released in Firefox 16 or 17 (depending on when it is ready).

  • E70 PDF Reader : Unable to open. File type not sup...

This morning I have bought an E70, among others due to its highscreen resolution and the possibility to run a PDF reader on it.
    I have now tried ...
      - the pre-installed Adobe PDF Reader
      - the Adobe PDF Reader supplied with the PC Suite CD-ROM
      - the Adobe PDF Reader available on europe.nokia.com
I am fascinated by a software which presents itself in the About box as '1.5', prompts during installation for '1.0.5' and has filenames '1_5_0'.
Apart from minor variations in the SIS filenames they all share the same annoying feature: They refuse to display any of my PDF files but display a message 'Unable to open. File type not supported. 5. !' instead.
It doesn't seem to be a problem of the PDF files, since a collegue of mine was able to open them on his E61 or E70 (forgot to ask).
Any idea what this problem could be caused by?

I am speechless -- but happy.
The complaint about the file type only appears if you try to open a PDF stored in the phone memory but not if you try to open a PDF stored on the memory card.
    Problem solved.

I have a client that uses Windows that has recently told me she can no longer open the PDFs I send her. I can't find this elusive "Always Send Windows-Friendly Attachments" setting that I have read may solve my problem. Can someone get me there?

    Dear Dan,
It was from InDesign that I was creating the shared pdfs. I was one of two Mac drivers in a corporate sea of Win users and had to make the change I mentioned in order for the Win users to see my pdfs for review. The difference from what you appear to be doing was that were all on an MS Exchange Server so the files were shared over the company's Exchange Server e-mail system. However, some of these files occasionally went to outside users via regular e-mail and those people had no issues either.
So what I did was tested and worked for years.
You might look at the Adobe forums or Knowledge Base to see if that is a reported issue with newer version of CS. I was on CS2 when I was doing this, and the other Mac driver was on CS3 but had no problems either.
Some Win users I've talked to find a problem opening some pdfs (not mine) in general and found they had to open Reader first and them open the file from Reader's File menu. That most often happened if the client was using an outdated version of Reader.

  • Pdfs will not open in Adobe Reader 10.1.0 with os 10.6.8

I have an iMac, Snow Leopard v. 10.6.8 and Adobe REader 10.1. When I click on a pdf to open, all I get is the QuickTime icon, which opens the 1st page only, but when I try to print even that page, it is blank.
I have tried dumping the AdobePDFViewer plugin from the Internet Plug Ins as indicated below, to no avail.
    [file://localhost/Library/Internet%20Plug-Ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin/]
This has been SOOOOO frustrating. When I called Adobe, they want to charge me $39.99 to talk to a technician! Since their download for the Reader is "free," I find it objectionable, to say the least, that they have the audacity to want to charge me on a "free" application program!
I'm ready to change to an alternative Reader, if their is such a thing, if anyone out there has a suggestion for that kind of program. I would really like to solve the mystery of why my Adobe pdfs won't open, however. This problem has been going on for about 2 weeks now, since August 7th.
    Thanks.

Select a PDF file, CMD+I, check the Open With section, and ensure that AR is selected. If not, then select it and click on the Change All button. Alternatively, select Preview, which is my default PDF reader.

  • Why do some pdf files not open with Adobe Reader X, most open OK?

On my wife's 64 bit WIN 7 computer, a some pdf files will not open, but most open OK.
She uses Acrobat Reader X and MS Office 2010.
The same problem files open with no problem on my very similar computer.
Is the problem with some setting on the Acrobat Reader or something else?
Sometimes there is this error message when the problem files do not open:
Find Click2run64.msi file to install MS Office Click to Run.
But MS Office Click to Run is already installed on her PC.  It is not on my PC.
    Thanks for your help.

The latest Reader is 11.0.01, not 11.0.1.  It is named Adobe Reader XI.
I did uninstall the Reader X and installed this latest one.
But it did not solve the problem, still could not open the problem pdf's .
I did find the problem was caused by the MS Office Click to Run error referred to in my original message.  As far as I know we have no use for that on my wife's computer. Not sure how it got there.   I uninstalled it and so far the problem pdf's open fine now.  Problem solved.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Reader 10 - PDF will not open in IE

I installed Reader X on a laptop at work with Win XP Pro. No problems; everything worked. I can read PDFs in IE.
I also installed Reader X on a desktop at home running Vista business. Reader X, itself, seems to work fine. I can open a PDF in Firefox which is installed on this computer. I cannot open a PDF in IE. It only wants me to download the pdf file. It doesn't open it in a window. Display PDF in Browser is checked in Internet Preferences/Web Browser Options. Manage Add-ons in IE shows both Adobe PDF Link Helper and Adobe PDF Reader add-ons as Enabled.
Does anyone have any idea what i can do to get this problem solved?
    irablum1

Some times the PDF is linked to a site that is NOT on the site your visiting. If this is the case, then BOTH web sites will have to be added to the Trusted Sites.
Did you try the second step?
The other fix I have found is to Uninstall Adobe Reader, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Flash and IE8. Install CCleaner and run the program using the default settings. This removes any old registry connections for Adobe. Then reinstall IE8 and Adobe Acrobat or Reader. Then open Adobe to make sure that the Open PDF in Web Browser is unchecked. Then Install Flash. Then go to the website to open a PDF. The PDF should now open with Adobe.
See if you can open a PDF from a different website or sites.
If your on a network, and are using ISA make sure that ISA is not blocking the PDF's ie: add these sites to the trusted list in ISA.
