8330!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am writing to you with a HUGE disappointment. I am an Executive Agent for Nationwide Insurance. I purchased the Blackberry 8330 thinking I had a wonderful phone! My service is through Boost mobile.
When I got this phone, it errored out all the time, froze in the middle of important phone calls and emails, etc, it would shut down and restart causing me to lose valuable data information! I called HSN (where I bought the phone) and they shipped me out a new one with all their apologies. Happily I went through the WHOLE switching process again with my OTHER new 8330 and the same thing happened! I cannot believe that this happened with a Blackberry. My entire firm is thinking of getting Blackberry phones for the business, and I am afraid I am going to have to put a stop to that.
I will have to place bad reviews for this phone everywhere, as it is very misleading. $230 I paid for this and for what??

Yea, some details would help.
As well as What is your Operating System loaded to your device?
Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with a "v.4.x.xxx"
What is yours?

You would do that before even finding out any facts and based on the vague description of errors?
Is that what you would expect me to do with Nationwide Insurance if I had a problem with a policy or claim?
Have you contacted your servcie provider Boost yet? Your service provider by contract provides the front line initial technical support for the BlackBerry. What was their response or advice for you?

  • Desktop 4.5, 4.6 and 4.7 will no longer recognize my 8330

For some reason, Desktop 4.5 just stopped recognizing my BB 8330 when I plugged in the USB cable and had Desktop running at the time. I have removed and reinstalled desktop software versions 4.5, 4.6 and 4.7 to no avail. I have swapped USB cables as well. The phone will be recognized as a mass storage device if I answer "Yes" to the phone screen question after attaching the USB cable - in that case, a computer screen dialgue box pops up, asking if I want to view the phone files. I've tried every available USB port on the computer.
After removing and reinstalling Desktop, the computer does recognize the BB, reporting success on blackberry phone device driver installation. It also appears in Windows Vista Device Manager as having no problems. I've done hard resets on the phone several times as well.
    Any ideas?

  • 8330 curve from us cellular keeps freezing up, on my 2nd blackberry exchange

I cannot find an answer for a fix on this error: Uncaught Exception: Application net_rim_bb_messaging_app(133) is not responding; process terminated.
Is this like a family secret?  US cellular doesn't have any idea wtf the matter with it is, I haven't seen any posts for an answer on these forums, despite the many exhortations for help with this problem.  BB won't do anything but suggest a BB exchange but I can only do three of those.  I paid good money for this phone and it pisses me off that in the 21st century we can't get what is stupid computer to work right, two of them, brand new at that!!
Whenever I push the SMS icon to check my text messages the effen thing freezes up, on both of the bb's I have had.  Don"t know why, it just does.  I have three third party apps, facebook, USAA, and myspace and over 50MGM of space on the phone.  I have heard you can uninstall and reinstall the OS on the phone, but haven't seen any really clear layman's directions on this.  This problem has happened on three phones in the last month.  Somebody help me pls.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

pretty much every Uncaught Exception error is an appload
you will need DTM and your 8330 or 8330m device softwareinstalled to your PC (to find out whether you are an 8330 or 8330m, goto options-about... first line will tell you)
use DTM to perform a backup
    then you go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
pull your battery and media card... leave them out
open loader.exe and go through the wizard, whn its done you will get some sort of multistage error
    close wizard
put battery in and wait for an error (507)
run loader.exe again and complete the wizard again
after you are done go through the setup wizard
do not restore your backup, media card or 3rd party apps
test it for awhile and see if you still have the same problem
if no error, restore your backup and test for awhile
if no error, insert your media card and test for awhile
if no error, restore  facebook and myspace(since they are made by rim) and test for awhile
if no error restore any other 3rd party apps and test again
    keep us posted

  • Entries made in Sprint BB 8330 will not sync to Outlook Calendar

I just got a Sprint BB 8330 and have set up 2-way sync for Outlook Calendar, Tasks, Memos & Address Book. The 2-way sync works for Tasks, Memos and Address Book except the Outlook Calendar. The Outlook Calendar syncs to the BB but entries made on the BB do not sync back onto the Outlook Calendar. I traded my Sprint Treo which worked perfectly with 2-way syncs on my Dell laptop using XP for this SmartPhone which isn't doing what it is said to do.  I have done quit a bit of research on this and found that this problem is happening to a lot of other users. We should file a class action suit against Blackberry since it is a common problem and they seem to being nothing to fix it that I have found but they keep on selling them.  Thanks for your help.

Open up your Desktop Manager, then go to Synchronize/Configuration/Configure Sync. In there, you will find that you are only allowing synchronization one way...from your desktop to your BB. You can configure your synchronization from that screen so that it is bi-directional.

  • Caller ID not working on 8330 Curve

Does anyone know how to fix the caller ID on my 8330 curve. Incoming calls from my address book are coming in as "unknown number" - its only some of the contacts, not all. BB supprt and Sprint couldn't figure it out.
    Thanks!

First, go into the Phone app (press the Green [Call] button), then hit the [Menu] button (button to the LEFT of the TrackBall) and select Options --> Smart Dialing.  Make sure your Country Code and Area Code are set correctly.
Also, make sure that phone numbers in your Address Book entries are formatted like a phone number.  The most standard format is:
    +1 (123) 123-1234
    for the US.

  • Can't open picture attachments on BlackBerry Curve 8330

I just traded my Pearl 8130 for the Curve 8330 yesterday.  While I think I made the right decision, I'm a little annoyed by the fact that for the most part, I can't open email attachments.  Keep in mind, this is when I actually use the Internet Browser to access my various accounts.  In other words, I'm actually going to www.gmail.com and www.hotmail.com.  When I get into my Hotmail, it'll show the paper clip signifying an attachment but won't give me any sort of option to open it.  It just lists the file name(s) and that's it.  When I go into my gmail, if I've got an email that only contains one or two pictures it'll usually open those.  But any more than that and it's the same deal with Hotmail, except that it'll actually have the "6 Attachments" link that I can actually click, but when I do it just lists the file names in regular type and there's no option whatsoever to open them.  It doesn't open any kind of thumbnail either.
It's kind of a bummer to me because I have a lot of saved pictures in my email accounts that I'd like to save on my phone as well.  If all BlackBerrys are like that, I'll just deal with it and shut up.  When I get email attachments in the accounts I've set up to go directly to my BlackBerry I can always open them, so maybe this is just normal for BlackBerrys.  But if mine is actually having a problem I'd really like to get it fixed.  If that's the case, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do?  I already resent Service Books and took the battery out and put it back in.  That's all I've tried so far.  If all else fails I can just take it in to Alltel to have it looked at but it'd be nice to avoid having to do that.    I know there are other ways to go about this... I can always just manually move them to my phone's memory card from the computer and stuff.  Getting them directly from my email would just be a little quicker.
    Thanks, everyone!

Blackberry browser isnt exactly the same as a browser on your PC. It has limitations, such as sizes. when you added the email to your BIS account its now mail on your device which is the primary function of a blackberry. when using BIS or BES emails, they are designed to truncate if too big, but if you wish to look at more it gives you that option. www.hotmail.com is not designed to accomodate blackberry. Your best option is to stay to the BIS email option.
Not to mention it uses less of your data bandwidth to use BIS email rather than browsing to www.hotmail.com

  • Using my 8330 to connect to internet with a MAC & PC

I have two laptops, one is a Mac Pro - newest computer to the family. And the other is a PC running Windows XP.
I have the software loaded on PC to use my 8330 as a modem to connect to the internet.
My question is can I load the same software onto the MAC pro notebook and use as a modem with the mac as well. I started to do this from the Net, but decided since it appeared different, I would ask you guys first. Do not know if anything gets sent to the phone when it is connected to the PC that would be different on a MAC ?
    anyone know ?

    Hi,
    Late edit. Led you wrong.
You can't use the BB as a tethered modem straight up on the MAC, it might be possible with paralells to Windows XP as you suggested.
I remembered a KB that I read concerning MAC's and tethered modems.

  • Multiple problems on multiple new 8330's

In september I bought an 8330 curve. It worked great, and other than a few small things (not comfirming bbm contacts) it worked awesome, solid, never unstable. The screen started to have bubbles on the inside of it, so I took it in on warranty, and was given a new one AFTER I was sent home to make a backup.
I get the new phone, came directly home and reloaded the backup. The next day, it started randomly rebooting. Even if it was just sitting there.
Sunday it shut off and when it tried to restart it just went to JVM error 102. If you reset it or did a hard reset it would always go to JVM error 102 when it tried to boot. I was out of town, and use my phone for work, so I was tickled pink, since its supposedly brand new.
Monday night they give me a new one AGAIN because nobody at the store can seem to fix it or figure it out. I go home, reload my data, wich is now a week old, and within a few hours it randomly starts rebooting agian. Then it wouldnt start, just flash the red LED, wich it did regardless of how many times I tried a hard restart. Eventualy this morning after 8 hours of flashing the red LED, I did a hard restart and it work.
I don't download apps. I use the phone, text, email, and I email pictures to my boss. Its the main reason i have a BB, so I dont get killed on MMS message charges, I just have unlimited email and I send the pics on email.
The odd time I browse. And I don't do any of the things ppl talk about on crackberry where they are farting around doing things they arent supposed to and thier phone crashes.
Any idea why my "new" curves keep doing this? 3rd one in 5 months, and 2 of them in the last week.
Apps? The ones that come on the phone from the factory. I live in terror that any thing else will brick my curve. I even talk nice to it.

Simpler than a three-step process (well, four if you include the inital backup)?
Nah, I've upgraded many many OSs on devices before, this I've instructed is the safest and simplest way.
I would not recommend the wireless upgrade, I've seen way too many problems and botched devices as a result.
Good advice give in the previous post, take it  or leave it.

  • 8330 Calendar does not sync back to desktop

I've been fighting this for six months, and I know I just haven't found the right place to change settings.
I'm using an 8330 with Outlook 2007; the same problem existed with Outlook 2003 before we upgraded a month ago.
    - Everything I enter on the desktop computer transfers to the 8330, no problem.
    - NOTHING I enter on the 8330 calendar transfers back to the desktop. I have checked under Options>Advanced Options>Default Services and the Calendar is set to sync with my desktop.
This constantly causes problems, and it has resulted in my missing some appointments. I have searched the forums here and the FAQ at BB and can't find any solution that works. I'd appreciate your help!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

HI and welcome to the forums!
First reset the sync config on the desktop software and make sure it is setup for two way transfer.
Second make sure your email address associated with the calendar is listed in default services.
I'm sure you have done the above, but it's always best to check.
I would then suspect the device calendar, it your appointments are on outlook and on the ipd file backup from the
    device, then wipe the device calendar using this procedure;
    http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB04950&sliceId=SAL_Pub...
Set the DM to config ONE WAY DESKTOP TO DEVICE and sync. Then add an appointment to the BB and try syncing 2 way.

  • Sync'ing Multiple Calendars in Both Outlook and Blackberry 8330

I have been searching for either an OEM solution or 3rd party application solution for this problem for quite some time with no luck, so I decided to ask the experts here...
I am running an 8330 w/BIS service. I use my Blackberry for personal, work, and a side business. I have my personal emails, my work email (BIS, not BES) and my side business's email addresses configured. As such, I have multiple calendars on my Device and I've color-coded them to my liking.
I am quite mobile, and often need to enter infomation in any of the 3 calendars on the fly. Keeping them color-coded and separate is ideal, since I use the 'select calendar' function on the device to keep everything organized.
The problem lies in syncronizing with Outlook 2007 when I get home... Outlook 2007 will only sync the Default Calendar on my device, which happens to be my personal calendar. I know I can add a second and third calendar in Outlook and configure them to syncronize with my Blackberry but they still will only sync with my Default Calendar on the device. This is not much help when I'm on the road since everything ends up in one lump on my device, and no way to separate...
Google Sync is the same thing. I can add calendars and syncronize, but it all ends up in my Default Calendar as well.
I just can't see myself scrolling thru my many appointments and all-day events to pick out what events belong to what area of my life... I'm baffled that there would be multiple calendars on the device but no way to syncronize them with Outlook. Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance...

Can only be done wired using Desktop Manager.

  • Can't sync 8330 to Outlook 2010. Keep getting error message.

I just got outlook 2010 and am trying to set up my 8330 to sync with it. I cannot sync the address book and the calendar because I keep getting  an intellisync error message that says "One or more configured folders is not available. Update folder mapping and try again." When I click on Configure settings>advanced> with the check box in Calender clicked I get a message that says "No available message stores." I click OK and then the advanced settings pop up. When I click on Map Field I get an error message. "Error encountered. Error code - 0x82bc1095. Check documentation."
I have been trying for several hours to figure this out. The only way I can get it to sync is when I change the MultiJobTraceLog value to 200 and the TifLog Value to 100 in the iloptcfg file as instructed in one of the RIM help documents. And even then it only works the first time I sync after starting BB desktop software 6.0 and plugging in my phone.
    Help!!

    Hi there!
Let's start with your Outlook 2010 version...if 64bit, then this KB will apply:
    KB17149Support for Microsoft Outlook 2010 64-bit version
    Otherwise, this KB might apply:
KB15564"No available message stores" appears when configuring synchronization settings in BlackBerry Desktop Manager

  • Google Maps no longer works for my Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330. What is wrong with Google???

For the past 11 months, Google Maps and Gmail have worked wonderfully with my Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330. Tonight, all of it stopped working. I tried to load Google Maps and failed. Kept getting the error message "Network Unavailable, blah blah blah". I tried restarting the phone, removing and reinserting the battery, until I finally uninstalled Google Maps. Now when I point my browser (OperaMini) to m.google.com to download and reinstall Google Maps, it says "Sorry the Google Maps application does not work on your 8330." This makes NO sense. Why would Google suddenly remove support for my phone? Is there a work around? Before uninstalled, I tried all sorts of tricks with editing permissions to no avail.
Also, Gmail is refusing to check mail, occasionally saying that a data connection is needed. That also makes NO sense as I have great phone reception.
My internet (OperaMini) and normal calling and texting capabilities are unaffected.
In conclusion: Is there ANY WAY to get these Google applications to reinstall and work on my phone? Or has Google screwed me over? Any help would be tremendously appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Hyun

  • Sync Problems between Blackberry 8330 and Outlook 2007 using Desktop software v 4.7

I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 and I have been experiencing some problems syncing it with my HP Notebook running Outlook 2007.  I am using the most current Desktop Software version 4.7.  I am using the BB Internet Service and all of my email accounts seem to be operating well.  When I attempt to sync I receive the following errors in this sequence
Error 1:  Intellisync;  There are no applications configured for synchronization.  From the synchronize screen, go to Configure > Synchronization to configure the applications.
At this point, I attempt to follow the above instructions and configure the applications I want to Sync.  When I complete the above step for all applications, or each one seperately, I receive the following error:
Error 2:  Runtime Error;  Folder is no longer a part of the system data source or  the folder can not be found.
As I stated above, I receive the error for all 4 applications (Address Book, Calendar, Memos and Tasks) whether they are configured seperately or all at once.  I have unistalled the desktop software v4.7 5 times and Outlook 3 times. I am truly at a loss and in dire need of my Calendar and Contacts on my phone.  If anyone has come across this in the past or has any ideas, Please feel free to comment or reply.  Any info will be greatly appreciated!!!

  • BB 8330 Media Manager, Media Sync hanging - not connecting...

(I just know this is treated in depth somewhere but after a couple of hours of searching, I can't find it so appologies in advance...)
I have a BB 8330 from Verizon running v4.5.0.77 - no media card.
    Using Device Manager, the:
    Driver version is: 4.1.0.4
Driver Node Strong Name is: oem25.inf:RIM:RimUsb.Device.NT:4.1.0.4:usb\vid_0fca&pid_8004&mi_00
Windows thinks the driver is up to date.
    I am running  Desktop Manager v4.7.0.32[Nov 4 2008]
When I launch DM, I can successfully Back up my BB.
On my Vista PC - When I attempt to launch  Media Manager 9, it has found the files in the Library but it goes into a wierd loop where it keeps seeing the F: drive and then removes it and then resets and then sees it again - forever (or at least for the day that I left it in that loop)
I loaded the DM on another PC running XP and observe a similar behavior - it's not quite as zippy so it just looks more like a hang
To try something different, I downloaded Media Sync v2.0.0.22 and, when the BB is connected, I get the error: "BlackBerry Media Sync failed to connect to your BlackBerry device. Click Retry to try again or Cancel to disconnect." - I get the same error with and without the DM running.
Something seems sort of hinky in that, while my BB is plugged in on my Vista system, occassionall I get the lights flashing on my keyboard like someting is resetting the USB every few minutes (unrelated Vista crap?).
    Please help...

You are going to want to get a media card if planning to add music-ringtones-pictures-videos.  Don't want to use up device memory.  It'll go fast.

  • Curve 8330 not being recognized by the Mac Blackberry Desktop Manager . . .

I just downloaded the Mac version of BDM.  It's a long time coming, but I'm glad that it works.  I have a Pearl that was easily recognized by the software and easily synced with all my data.  However, I also have a Curve 8330 that will not sync.  In fact, when plugged into the USB port, the BDM doesn't even see that the 8330 is plugged in, it still sits there asking, "To beging, connect your device to your Mac using the supplied USB cable."
Any suggestions on what to do?
    Thanks.

I would suggest, first off, rebooting the Curve.
With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
