845 Pro (Socket 423) mainboard

Hi everyone,
I have a 845 Pro (Socket 423) mainboard that does not boot. I bought it 8 months ago, and despite burning a power supply, it was working fine.
I have checked the D-LED signals and it stays at "Initializing Keyboard Controller" after I turn the power supply on. I don't know what caused this, but I can't open my computer any more..
Can anybody help me?  ;(

I tried another keyboard but it is still not booting..I think it is from the mainboard, what shall i do?
thx

  • MSI 845 Pro - Memory Problems

    I have an MSI 845 Pro(FC-PGA2) mainboard.
So far I have tried PNY PC133 129MB DIMMS and Windows keeps resetting itself at random intervals or the logo screen pops up and it will reset.
I then tried an unbranded make of 256MB and it kept freezing during installation.
The only memory that does work is Kingston 65MB PC133.
I have now very PO`ed if this mainboard will not accept any other brand of memory.
Please if you have suggestions then post them or PM me.
If you have had the same problem also please contact me.  X(

  • What graphic card for a 845 pro

    hi
can anyone help me please. i have bought a 845 pro mainboard and i was wondering what would be the best graphics card to fit .
    thanks

If you are asking purely for a new graphics card and no intention to upgrade your mobo or any hardwares in any ways, then the Ti-4200TD 128MB 4x would be the best buy in terms of price vs performance and o/c.
But if you are think about getting the VGA card first, thereafter moving it to a newer system later in date, then I'll say that the FX5600TD 128MB or R9600 will be a good buy then, as both can support DX9 features and 8x capabilities for the future gaming like HL2.
Though the Ti-4200 will also be able to handle DX9 games but due to the being that it's a DX8 card, there'll be no bells and jingles extras for DX9 features in the DX9 capable games.

Hiya fellas; I know you guys are probably getting frustrated with not being able to POST your systems, But it would be a big help to all of us if you gave us more info (specs.) on your PC's ..It would be a great help if you guys would create singnatures with your profile editor, As we need to know first and most importantly, the specs. of your Powesupply in amps on the Rails..ie+12V=?A, +3.3V=?A, +5.0V=?Amps...This info can be found on the side of the PSU(you will have to remove the PC's side cover)...But until you can create a signature here are a few thing that you can try .....Upon Power up, Enter the BIOS, if you have the option set the Memory timings to SPD (Serial Presence Detect)...Also if you have the option to adjust DRAM (V-DIMM) Voltage, try to set it to 2.7 Volts......Sean REILLY875

  • MSI 845 Pro no OS boot

I was working on a computer for my friend and after finding out the problem was the pwer supply we replaced it, only to have the motherboard boot, but only to the state where it will boot from the drives.  Then it locks and hangs and does nothing.  I Checked everything and I don't know whats wrong with it.  Anyone have any idea as to what could be wrong?
    MSI 845 Pro with P4 1.7 gig
    450 Watt Power Supply
    1.5 gig of ram
    8500LE ATI video card
    Sound Blaster Audigy sound card
    DVD Rom
    CD RW Rom
40 Gig Western Digital Hard Drive
    40 Gig Segate Hard Drive
Like I said it locks up when it should be booting from the hard drive or CDrom drive.

The Video card was failing.  It would only boot in VGA mode.  The power supply he had was only a 320 watt and knowing that he had a Sound Blaster in it I knew it most likly was the power supply.  The new one's specs are
    Win 400 PS P4 (450 Peak Watts)
    Ac input 115/230 V~,7.5A/4.5A,50-60 Hz
    +3.3A  +5V  +12V  -5V  -12V  +5VSB
    15.0A   30A  15A    .6A  .6A    2.0A
And I removed everything and started from just the chip and worked my way from there adding devices and I didn't find any problems with regards to the beeps.  The computer boots to the post fine.  It just locks up after the post right before it should boot from the CDrom or floppy or Hard drive. I alos put the other devices in another computer to see if they work and they do, so I am really at a lose as to what is wrong with the board.

  • 845 ULTRA Ver:1 Mainboard, Live Update Online, USB 2.0 problems

I have a MSI 845 ULTRA ver:1 mainboard (actually have 6 of them.)  I installed a USB 2.0 5 port hub and connected a 250gb external harddrive.  The system reports an I/O device error.  Any ideas on how to solve ?
The current BIOS is AMI 1.50a.  I tried using the "Live Update Online" but only got as far as the "Now Loading" screen.  Anyone know how to get past this point ?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Try not to use MSI Live Update.  It is not the best Tool that was ever released and too many users have already messed up their systems (bad flashes, wrong BIOS) using MSI LU.  If it starts behaving strange before you even get to the point of actually flashing a new BIOS Version, you should not hesitate to stay away from it.
Do it the "DOS-way" and use a floppy or a bootable USB-stick.

  • 845-Pro 423 + Creative Modem = SLOW

    845-Pr0 423 + 1.5 Ghz P4 + 500Mb Ram + Win 98/SE
Have Creative modem PCI, Sounblaster Audigy Platinum PCI, Grapicsblaster RIVA TNT PCI.
ALL device drivers are the latest available.
Creative Modemblaster V92 PCI is SLOW AS MOLASSES - 2K/second download regardless of site or access number. (Son's Dell 733 runs at 6K+/sec on SAME number and Sites...)
Any diagnostic software or procedures I can use to id where the problem lies?
    Does card location matter?
Any known conflicts between Creative devices?
    (Creative has been contacted too)

Thanks, but any clues on the best board sequence?
BTW, check out the section titled "FASTEST INTERNET 98 - PART 1" on http://members.aol.com/axcel216/98-1.htm - IT REALLY IS SOUND ADVICE, and "FASTEST INTERNET 98 - PART 2" on http://members.aol.com/axcel216/98-3.htm#98FAST.  I am now downloading at 9K+/second having set all MTU values to the best for AOL of 548 - 576 is the best for other ISP's.  I would add that in PART 2, para 3, where he talks about "DriverDesc"="TCP/IP", if the MaxMTU string does not exist, create it and set it to the 548 or 576 value.
Absolutely no problems downloading from ftp or page loading - THANKS "[email protected]"

  • Do MSI 845 Pro mainboard only work with Kingston memory ? Plz Help.

The reason I am asking is because I have a P4 1.4ghz with 65MB Kingston value ram.
I tried upgrading to PNY 128MB PC133 Mhz and the PC kept resetting before Windows ME would even load or it would get into Windows and reset at random intervals.
I then tried and unbraned 256 MB and the same problem occurs.
My PC will only load Windows ME and be 100% stable with the Kingston 65MB PC133 memory.

    Hi there...
I have just checked your motherboard on Crucials website becasue they have their own specific memory selector which tells you in advance if their brand of memory will work on your motherboard.
All you do is use the drop down catergaories to select your exact motherboard and Crucial will tell you if their memory is 100% compatible or not (i tested for you and it was fine... but you can test for yourself for piece of mind)
Crucial memory is an excellent brand and i highly recommend them, they have free next day delivery and no quibble money back guarentee and they are not that expensive either... check the link below out and select your motherboard.

I hope this helps resolve your problem.

  • GeForce4 MX 440 - T8X

    Can anybody please help me?
I just bought the above MSI VGA card but my motherboard doesn't like it. I do have a ECS  P4VXASD (Socket 423) mainboard with P4 1.4 GHz. My old TNT2 works fine but when I switch the VGA cards the system doesnt want to start - like a VGA card is not installed at all (the monitor is still blask with no incomming signal and the system stops). I tried the VGA card on some other (also older) motherboards and there it did work fine. Could the VGA be just badly plugged in? I spent several hour plugging and unplugging yesterday but the result is poor.
    Thanks to all.

    Hello again.
I in the past hours I was furiously checking all possibilities of getting my MX 440 up and running but unfortunatelly I got only this result:
1.) Your suggestion is to change power supply to a more powerful one however, all retailers over here have only ones with 20A max. @ 3.3V with 5V + 3.3V @ max. 180W combined.
2.) It seems that my motherboard doesn’t have some kind of a special AGP power supply (I was told that besides the standard ATX connector there should be a 4-pin connector next to the processor socket designed especially for AGP power support). I was therefore told to buy a new motherboard and that this new motherboard in combination with the above PSU should be sufficient.
What to do now? Help me if you can, please.

  • Neo2 w/Socket 939 and nForce3 - discontinued?

    Hello:
I'm pretty new to this, so some of my questions might have obvious answers that I just haven't been able to find.
Currently building a machine for home use, but have not yet purchased a motherboard, though I had decided on MSI. The particular model I was thinking of was the K8N Neo2 Platinum. I have heard, though, that this model is being discontinued. Many distributors still have the K8N Neo2-F, but some seem to be out of stock.
The thing is, I need a chipset that has good Linux compatibility -- and as far as I know, the nForce4 is not yet there, but the nForce3 has stable Linux drivers. I'd also like a socket 939, but it seems like all the socket 939 boards are coming with the nForce4 chipset.
So -- does anyone know if MSI is going to continue making a Socket 939 mainboard with the nForce3 chipset?
    Thanks,
    Doug

    Doug,
The K8N Neo2 Platinum is still listed on the current list of Mobos on the MSI website and pricewatch still shows quite a few vendors still selling it.
    Thanks for answering.
What you say is true. But of all the vendors selling it, the only one who has it in stock is selling it as an OEM piece "with a COMPAQ branded bios splash screen".
I'm still wondering if this board or the Neo2-F (still widely available) will continue to be made, or if MSI will continue making a socket 939/nForce3 board.
Eh...I can always bite the bullet and live with not-so-great Linux support for a while with the nForce4.
    Thanks again.

  • New Mainboard

I'm looking forward to buying a new NF4 socket 939 mainboard. I think I'm going to buy the MSI K8N SLI F mainboard, but first I would like to know what the persons who have one think about it.

  • No power when IDE cable plug into mainboard

The motherboard I'm working with is a K7 Pro ATX IR3 Mainboard. Whenever I plug in the IDE cable to the mainboard, it seemed that there is no power coming from the power supply. I tried this with a cd-rom and the light isn't lit or do anything. As soon as I unplug the IDE cable from the mainboard, the CD-ROM works...meaning I can push the button for open and close. All the lights, HD and Power lights, on the front of the case are not even flashing or turn on.
If anyone has any suggestion I'm greatly appreciated.
    ljCharlie
     ?(

Sorry for the confusion. In this situation when I talked about cable, I mean the IDE cable or floppy cable and not the power supply cable. I have one floppy, cd-rom drive, hard drive, sound card, and a video card. I believed the power supply is a 400 watt, although I'm sure. I just purchased this last week so I am pretty it'll handle what I am trying to do. When I turn the computer on these are the things I believed that are running with all three cables one end plugged into the mainboard and the other end to the devices such floppy, hard drive, and cd-rom.
    cpu
    cpu fan
    case fan
    D-LED light is on
Devices that are not runing with all three cables plugged in to the mainboard and the other end to the devices such floppy, hard drive, and cd-rom.
    floppy drive
    cd-rom drive
    hard drive
    HD LED light
    Power LED light
Now, if I unplug all the cables from the mainboard or from the devices then all the devices seem to have power coming to it.

  • MSI 845 Ultra support for PATA/133 HD

I have an MIS 845 Ultra-AR (S478) mainboard with 1X80GB HD attached and the 2 ATA/133 Raid slots that I don't use. I also have a Maxtor SATA/150 PCI Card installed with a SATA/133 drive (100 GB) attached and running. I'm wondering what is the best approach, if any, to attach a Maxtor PATA/133 (300GB) drive (6L300R0). Can it attach to the onboard IDE or is it possible to attach to the SATA card. Attaching to the IDE so far, on AUTO, the BIOS recognizes the drive as 33.8 GB. Maxblast 4 will also only partition 33.8 GB. Attached to the SATA card on the Ultra ATA port ir recognizes the drive but again Maxstor 4 will only partition 33.8 GB.
    AMIBIOS was released 11/26/2001  A6398MS  V3.0. CPU is Pentium P4 1.6GHZ.
I've been in computing for many years ... this is just getting a bit deeper that I've had to go before. I hope to learn from it as well.
Any help would be greately appreciated.

Make sure you are not using a NCQ based drive as ICH4 doesn't support.
Next, you'll have to install the RAID Controllers for the IDE Controller to work.
You can also get a SATA to PATA convertor if you want to use the SATA PCI Card.

  • K7 Pro (MS 6195) & IDE Config

I use a K7 Pro (MS 6195) Mainboard. I recently installed a CDRW drive on IDE1 as slave. My HDD was set as master on IDE1. On IDE2 I had my DVD drive as master and Zip250 drive as slave.
This was fine untill the computer tried reading from the CDRW and writing to the HDD at the same time. This resulted in a partial corruption of the HDD.
Having fixed the HDD I have moved the CDRW to master on IDE2, replacing the DVD drive. This setup seems to work fine but it means that I am not able to use my DVD drive.
Is there any way that I can setup all four devices without conflicts?

The question is what drives are compatible with each other on the same IDE cable?
Can you be sure that the DVD with the HDD won't cause a similar problem to the original one with the CDRW?
