[845 Series] PX8 Neo-V motherboard

hi
i have just installed a new PX8 Neo-V into my system.  however it allowed me into the bios once to change the boot sequence and when it restarted the system basically freezes.  The cpu fan is running but the only light that is on is the h/d and then it turns off.
is there anything i can do to see what it my be?
I am running an intel celeron 1.7 cpu with 256 meg ram. I was told it would be okay but it is starting to annoy me as i can't even get into the bios now

According to this the PX8 Neo-V doesn't work with Willamette processors. I don't know if any current MSI motherboards will. The Willamette's worked at a higher voltage than today's boards supply.

  • Ram choice for K8T Neo FISR2 Motherboard

Can anyone tell me if this particular model of ram is compatible with the k8t neo fisr2 motherboard?
    http://www.crucial.com/store/MPartspecs.Asp?mtbpoid=AC1B73A7A5CA7304&WSMD=MS%2D6702+%28K8T+Neo%2DFIS2R%29&WSPN=CT6464Z40B
according to crucial it is compatible with the mobo, but i don't see it on the msi vendor approved list for the mobo.  I did purchase it, however for the new computer that i am building, comp powers up fine, but no signal is getting to my monitor.  Do you think if the ram is not compatible and is not working, then the new machine won't boot properly, hence no signal to monitor?
i'm trying to rule out/in the memory ram as the culprit for my new comp's problems

Well first you have not posted your specs so it's a bit hard to determine if the problem could be somewhere else. Please add yoiur specs to your signature.
    Second I am assuming that you don't have any other RAM you can try so here are a couple things to check;
Put in a single stick of RAM and see if it comes up, if not then try another stick.
Check and see what is happening on the D-Bracket LED's.
Double check to see that both the 4 and 20 pin power connections are plugged into the Motherboard and see if your video card requires power through a molex connector. If so make sure it has a power Supply line plugged in.
Reset the Bios with the onboard jumper. Caution, make sure you remove power before you do that step. You may also have to remove the RAM when you reset.

  • MSI KM8 neo V motherboard supports 500 GB SATA HDD ???

    Hello all,
I have MSI KM8 neo V motherboard. I have recently purchased 500 GB SATA HDD to upgrade from old 80 GB SATA HDD.
My motherboard doesn't detect new 500 GB SATA HDD. . my mother board has any limitations on SATA HDD capacity?
Please let me know the limitations of  MSI KM8 neo V motherboard for SATA HDD limitations suchas 500 GB SATA HDD
    Regards,
    Rajender

You may want to update to the latest BIOS first.
Your drive is backwards compatible so it should work. Worst case, there may be a jumper on the drive to set it to 1.5gb/s.
Although a 500 has not been tested on this board, 250s have. http://www.msi.com/file/test_report/TR3_159.pdf  If a 250 works, no reason a 500 shouldn't work, depending if there is a jumper setting.
Seagate/Maxtor has added a user-accessible jumper-switch, known as the Force 150, to enable the drive to be switched between 1.5 Gbit/s and 3 Gbit/s operation. Western Digital uses a jumper setting called OPT1 Enabled to force 1.5 Gbit/s data transfer speed (OPT1 is enabled by putting the jumper on pins 5 & 6). Samsung drives can be switched to 1.5 Gbit/s mode using software that may be downloaded from the manufacturer's website. Upgrading a Samsung drive in this manner requires the temporary use of a SATA-2 (SATA 3.0 Gbit/s) controller while programming the drive . You may want to check with HDD manufacturer to see what they suggest in terms of running the drive on a SATA 1,5Gb (150) port.

nForce is not more stable then VIA, absolutely not.
When you prefer stability, go with VIA chip
when you want a good overclicker with some stability isues, go for the nForce.
My advice: see my signature and you know .....
What sort of stability issues are we talking about here?
    BSOD's?

  • P965 Neo-F Motherboard help

    I have a P965 Neo-F motherboard that I bought a few years back.  I am currently running a Core 2 duo E6300 Conroe 1.8GHz processor that is 65nm.
I was wanting to upgrade and purchased a Core 2 duo E7600 Wolfdale 3.06Ghz that is a 45nm.  At the time of purchase,  I did not know anything about 45-65nm and was just looking at LGA 775 and 65W thinking  it could just be dropped in.
Well,  once changed,  I get nothing.  The PC fires up but there is nothing on the screen.  I have since switched it back,  and it is running fine,  but I would still like to use this processor since it cant be refunded,  is it possible to interchange between the two?

It supports the earlier 45nm CPU's. Latest BIOS was 2007-11-20, the E7600 Launch Date - Q2'09.
Both statements are true for the MS-7235 PCB 2.x mainboard models (P965 Neo2 & P965 Neo-F V2) which use AMI coded A7235IMS.3xx releases.
If the information Narrdo gave in his initial post is correct (P965 Neo-F), then he has an MS-7235 PCB v1.x model which uses AWARD coded W7235IMS.1xx releases.
The latter mainboard model, which Narrdo actually appears to have, does NOT support 45nm CPUs nor Core-2-Quad processors!

  • [845 Series] Does my MS-6507 motherboard support 200gb hard drives???

I just recently bought a Maxtor 200gb hard drive and can only see 127gb of it when I installed it.  So I'm wondering does my motherboard (MS-6507) even support 200gb hard drives?  If so, do I just need to update BIOS or my OS (Win XP service pack 2) and I should see the remaining?  Thanks!!!

Answerd in your bios post, so I will close this one.

  • [845 Series] mb msi 848p neo-v problems with sound card

Since I've bought my new MB, I'm experiancing some problems with my sound card. WinAmp and MusicMatch Jukebox ( any version) does not support 5.1 sound system, but playing in stereo system. The soundcard AC97 is OK, cause Winows Media Player is working properly.Does anyone had such problem and solved it?
I must say that I've already used MSI MB, and all APPs worked properly with the same sound card. The difference is that my ex MB was based on old Intel processors, but not Presscot based as this one.

Have you installed the latest driver to
    the Realtec soundchip(ALC 655)?

  • [845 Series] MS-6507 - How to enable and configure On Board LAN

I have a very old Medion PC bought from PC World ages ago, which has MS 6507 Mother Board (256MB RAM, 1.7GHz...).   It is still surviving and serving its purpose of net surfing chatting along with others. Till now it functioned as a standalone PC. I want to connect this PC to a LAN now. How can I do this? I found from the MS-6507 manual that there is an on board LAN connection? How do I enable it?
On the backside of my PC I do not find any RJ-45 jack connection, but I do have two USB ports.
Please respond and send me the answers quickly or else I may be conned / forced / compelled / mis-sold a LAN card worth some few bucks equivalent to buy few liters of pure alcohol for my Monday Morning tonic consumption. All thanks to the local broadband cable guy who belives he can sell that to me quicker then I can find the solution
Replies on this forum and at [email protected]

There are many series to the MSI 845 chipset and your mobo is an OEM mobo from MSI to Medion and Medion do reserved the rights to have modifications to the board as well as the BIOS.
I can't say much about Medion MSI OEM boards but for the retail versions of the MSI 845 chipsets, there are actually versions like "Standard" only whereby only the standard stuffs are available like USB, onboard sound, onboard VGA etc but for LAN 10/100Mbps, Firewire and RAIDs are all optional depending on the versions.
For now, I can only say that you may want to reach back to Medion's website and find out from their products list on your system specs.

  • [VIA Series] PT8 Neo-V JBAT1 pin positions - stupid question

Which end to count from - can't tell from the manuals. Is 1 at the end nearest the IDE connectors?
In one position (shorting pins farthest from the IDE connectors) nothing at all happens, in the other position I get through the bios to a blinking cursor on a blank screen.

    Okay - her's my spec:
    MSI PT8 Neo-V
    Pentium 4 2.53 533fsb Northwood
    Samsung 256MB DDR PC2100
    ATAPI DVDROM 16X
    TOSHIBA DVD-R-/DVD-RW-
    Seagate ST380021A 80GB 7200RPM
    NVIDIA GeForce4 MX440SE
Seasonic SS 300FS 300W Power Supply
    {+12v=15A,+3.3v=28A,+5.0v=30A}
All I did was change the motherboard from a VIA P4PB400 after an overheating problem (the processor fan broke due to build-up of dust - since then the PC was 'okay' but was cutting out after about 30 minutes use). I then tried a CPU upgrade on the VIA but it didn't support the Precott 2.4GHz I'd bought - so I went for the MSI board. I get the same symptoms with the MSI board using the Prescott - went back to the Northwood after seeing the power issues on your forum.
So - even if I unplug the DVDs and floppy - I get either nothing at all, or no hard drive boot (depending on the JBAT1 jumpers - hence I'd like to know which jumper is number 1).

  • [875P Neo Series] 875P NEO FIS2R - Bootup delay with disk attached to Promise RAID

    Hi,
I have a problem with my 875P NEO FIS2R mobo. I just added a 400GB SATA RAID-0 array to the Promise controller and now I get a 50 second bootup delay after the BIOS has run through everything and beeped and before the first WinXP splash screen.
I boot up from a 160GB SATA RAID-0 array on the intel ICH5R controller. Both arrays work fine from within Windows. I have two DVD drives on the ICH5R PATA connection but nothing else on the Promise.
If I disable the Promise controller in BIOS the delay goes away.
I have tried disabling SMART, turning off the quick-boot option with no effect.
When I first installed my system I tested performance with booting from a single SATA drive on ICH5R vs Promise and I noticed the same issue, but didn't care then because I only needed one disk so I just kept Promise disabled in BIOS.
Any ideas how I can get around this?
    Regards,
    Jonathan

Sorry I have been a away for a few days.

If the Promise controller was out of the picture (Disabled), and you have the SCSI adaptor and its devices setup:
    1. What is the adaptor's SCSI ID?
    7
    Quote
    2. List devices, position in the chain and their corresponding SCSI ID's.
    #7 Adaptec 2930CU card
    #4 Nikon Coolscan LS30 scanner
    #3 Umax Astra 1220S scanner
    #5 Iomega ZIP 100 drive
    Quote
    3. What type of terminination are you using?
    Adaptec card has auto-termination.
ZIP drive has a termination connector attached.
    Quote
    4. Are the devices in the chain functioning properly?
    Yes.
    Quote
I agree that your problem is your SCSI controller. There may not be anything actually wrong with it. The 2930 was an agressive controller card and its BIOS simply may not coexist with your motherboard's BIOS optimally. Even with the BIOS disabled, it may be competing with the motherboard's request for handlers.
You may want to check to see if there is a BIOS update on Adaptec's website. Adaptec usually released 1 or 2 updates for each SCSI generation they produced. It may or may not help but we need to make sure you have the latest BIOS released.
Unfortunately, this card cannot be reflashed.
    Quote
At any rate, I think you have found the component which is responsible for the delay. I'm willing to assist in diagnosing the issue but I need you to provide the specific information I'm requesting.
Also, try to do a CTRL-Pause to catch exactly what the BIOS version is and any other information which is showing up with the BIOS disabled. The SCSI adaptor BIOS, in fact, should not be enabled in your SCSI configuration as you have described thus far.
Adaptec AHA 2930CU SCSI BIOS v1.34.1.
There seems to be a difference between BIOS and host adapter BIOS. You always get the BIOS screen, but you can disable the host adapter BIOS if it is not required.
I am pretty sure it is not the SCSI chain that is wonr because the pause happens with nothing connected to the card.

  • MSI Neo-fsr motherboard won't post help!!!!!

Okay so I got the parts yesterday and I put it together and when I turn it on it won't post. Not only that but everything seem to be powered up except for the video card the fan isn't spinning. It was a 9700 pro. Then I took my brothers Geforce MX and tried it and it still won't post. I mounted the motherboard correctly it is definitely not grounded to anything. I connected the D-bracket and all four red light show up. But my cpu is brand new out of the retail box.  I don't think its the cpu. So any body got any ideas?
    Here are my spec:
