845 Ultra Ver.1 (N1996) Power Switch Pin & Led

Hi to all,
I appreciate if u could help me regarding my main board problem. I bought this main board way back year 1997, if i’m not mistaken. My PC still running & work perfectly w/ OS windows 7 ultimate. Unfortunately my Power Supply spoilt & change w/ new one. My problem is,  i can’t find my Manual & i don’t where did i take out the power supply switch & power light on the main board, due to no caption on board. Is there any web site that I can down load? I really appreciate if could help me to identify where can i plug the power switch & led.
Thanks & Cheers

Not too much info on which model 845 ultra you have as there are some OEM versions of that board
also, but here MSIs manual:

  • 845 ULTRA Ver:1 Mainboard, Live Update Online, USB 2.0 problems

I have a MSI 845 ULTRA ver:1 mainboard (actually have 6 of them.)  I installed a USB 2.0 5 port hub and connected a 250gb external harddrive.  The system reports an I/O device error.  Any ideas on how to solve ?
The current BIOS is AMI 1.50a.  I tried using the "Live Update Online" but only got as far as the "Now Loading" screen.  Anyone know how to get past this point ?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Try not to use MSI Live Update.  It is not the best Tool that was ever released and too many users have already messed up their systems (bad flashes, wrong BIOS) using MSI LU.  If it starts behaving strange before you even get to the point of actually flashing a new BIOS Version, you should not hesitate to stay away from it.
Do it the "DOS-way" and use a floppy or a bootable USB-stick.

  • C5001 Chip on MSI 845 ULTRA Ver:1 Board

I messedup and burned a component om my motherboard its located near the CPU and the name on it is C5001.
Does anyone know where to get it ?
Mail me if you would like to see a picture of it

    Thank You!
I checked the BIOS and it IS a retail board (BIOS V 3.11.00.8).
I should be fine using the USB BIOS flash tool right? Also, my thumb drive is a Sansa Cruiser. It's FAT 32, but It also has the U3 software on it. Can I leave that on there, or should I remove it?

  • 845 Ultra + Adaptec Raid 2400a

[ May be a bit off topic sorry ]
    Hi,
    Motherboard : MSI 845 Ultra Ver 1
    Bios Version : 1.50
Graphic controler : Generic PCI VGA
    Ram : 2x 256 DDR
    Raid controler : Adaptec 2400a
( at the end there should be 2 of those raid controlers with 6 HD connected to it : 2 x 40 Gb IBM ICL series and 4 x 120 Gb Maxtor D540 series )
I'm having problems entering my raid card bios using this motherboard.
I type my " ctrl + A " to enter the bios, and the only thing I get is 2 lines with a random text in different color on the top of my screen. I'm able to Ctrl+alt+del to reboot, and able to boot without trying to enter the raid card bios.
I changed my raid card, and my disks connected to it. I changed the PCI slot.
Anyone have a Clue for that ? Anyone was able to use that kind of controler on that MB ?
    Regards ...

The 845 Ultra has bios versions from 3.0 to 3.4 so you either wrote the wrong version or the wrong board.

  • MS6340 Ver 1 and NEC Florida pin connector

I have a MS6340 ver 1 taken from a NEC Florida Computer (packard bell).
I cannot figure out what is right connection for the front panel of my case (power on- HD led, IDE led, reset switch,...) as the layout is different from the original MSI MS6340 and the JPF1 Pin header in located beside the original place.
I managed to have some spec from NEC but it's still unclear as they use a weird jargon to descibed the connection.
    Help is needed....

Not sure of the source. It was apparently removed from a PC during an upgrade. I have asked the person who supplied me for any information but he had assumed it was a standard MS6156 (as I did).
He is not sure who the original manufacturere of the PC was but I guess it must have been an OEM board.

  • Power switch wiring: I messed up: color/circuit diagram help?

I messed up as I was doing some work inside my 700 MHz eMac.
Managed to break one of the three wires on the power switch. Having done that before, I decided it was time to replace all the wiring with something longer and more substantial. All OK until I realized how stupid I can be: I failed to note the color-to-pin on the the little square 4-pin plug at the motherboard end of the power switch wiring harness. The socket has four pins, like this: :: Can someone tell me which is Red/Green/Black, with orientation, e.g. looking at the socket as it is vertically above the Firewire/USB/Ethernet/sound output socket panel? (That would be, obviously, with the monitor face down)
So some sort of diagram? such as:
    Blank . . Red
    Green . . Black
    Video out
    Ethernet
    etc.
    Many thanks.

    Hey G4,
I've got a 700 logic assembly out here and actually you've got it right.
If you look at that socket that the 2X2 plug plugs into the positions are (this would be in the true orientation of the plug where the bottom is the bottom of the computer):
    Blank . . Red
    Green . . Black
I.E. the top right slot is red the top left is open.
The two important ones are the red and the black. I've got tiny jumpers in the power button end of that cable. When I start the eMac out of the case I momentarily short those two leads together.

  • Advice badly needed on 845 ultra DDRs

    hi ppl ... greetings !
I have a pair of PC2100 (266mhz) DDR 128mb memory in my PC now.

Will putting the 333mhz DDRs work ?  (or worse, kill my PC ??)  I was told that it will still work but at 266mhz if I mix it with the (266mhz) 128mb DDRs ?  Is this true ?

  • Help needed pls!!! GF4 Ti4800 SE 8X on MSI 845 Ultra?

    Hi folks,
    I just purchased a GF4 Ti4800 SE 128mb 8X.
I own a MSI 845 Ultra ARU (6398), I understand this board only supports up to 4X AGP, but the GF4 card should be able to "downgrade" to work with a 4x motherboard, I hope.
Booting up is ok, but graphics start to tear on the window start-up screen. At the desktop, once i click the mouse, the desktop will hang like for 1 sec, then the monitor switch to Black screen, and then back desktop, this repeats when i click the mouse. There are also some weird colors here and there.
    Can anyone pls advise?

  • PXIe-1075 Power switch will not turn off chassis

    Hi,
I think I am having trouble turning my PXIe-1075 chassis off with the front mounted power switch. When I press the power switch, the green LED will ficker and the PWR LED on my PXIe-8360 MXI card will flicker from green to red and then back to green. I have a PXI-1042 chassis as well that seems to turn off properly. The switch on my PXI-1042 chassis has two positions, but the switch on my PXIe-1075 only seems to have one position. I am in a spot where I will need to power off my chassis to move it occasionally. Does it sound like my PXIe-1075 chassis has an issue? Am I missing something? I also tried holding the power switch. This will cause all the installed modules active light to turn off, but the PWR light on the switch and the PWR light on the MIX card will stay the same.

    Hello,
The 1075 has two modes for shutdown.  You can select between the modes with the 'inhibit' switch on the back of the chassis.  When this switch is in the default position, the chassis will power down when you shut down the controller in the chassis (I'm not sure if it will automatically power down with the MXI connection when you shutdown the PC- I do not believe it will).  When the switch is in the manual position, the chassis does not shut down with the controller and you must use the Inhibit signal on pin 5 of the Remote Inhibit and Voltage Monitoring connector.  I believe your chassis is in 'Manual' mode.  More information on this is available in the manual on page 2-12:
    http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/372537b.pdf
I do not think that the power button on the front can be used to power off the chassis.

  • Kt6v power switch

Hi.  I've just purchased this board.  Im ripping my hair out trying to figure out how to connect the power switch on front of computer.  I know which cable it is and that it goes on back of board, but which pins exactly does it go on?
    thanx

Could you tell us something more about your system, please. The hard disk configuration would be very interesting in this case, as well as the amperes for your PSU.
When installing WXP, maybe for the very first time, it is a good idea to have as little as possible in your system. Like, no USB devices, no PCI cards, only one stick of memory, only one hard disk, and to have the install device - CD or DVD - as Master at the end of another IDE cable.

  • Bios updates for 845 Ultra?

Is anyone aware of any pending bios updates for this motherboard or has it been put out to pasture ?  I'd still like to see a fix for the warm restart problem when overclocking in addition to the 1.65 core voltage limitation.  Before anyone says that those won't be fixed - I can wish, can't I?

I have the 845 Ultra-ARU and I am running my 1.8A at 2.52 GHz with a voltage of 1.71 actual applied volts.  This system is rock stable with a fsb of 140.  I have done the VID-pin mod, however.  I too would also like to see a BIOS update for a couple of reasons.
    1)  According to the temperatures being reported by PC Alert III, my BIOS, and MBM5, my CPU idles at 50 C and goes up to 67-68 C under a full Prime95 load.  The reason why I think this is faulty is because I have run my computer with the side panel off, and there is no difference in the CPU or system temperature.  Also, when running the Prime95 test, I've put my hand right on the heatsink and it is BARELY warm.  The heatsink is making solid contact with the CPU, so if the CPU was actually at 68 degrees C, the heatsink too would be incredibly warm.  My own hand tells me that it cannot be 152 degrees Fahrenheit.
    2)  THE MEMORY RATIOS ARE GARBAGE!!!!!  I've got a 2.52 GHz CPU that is suffering a bottleneck from the measly 2.0 GB/s that my RAM is able to feed it.  Every other motherboard I've ever seen gives you the options of a couple different memory ratios.  I would at least like the option to run my memory at a different speed than my fsb.  Perhaps a 3:4 ratio could be done?  Just something so that I can try and get a little more bandwidth out of my RAM.  I know that the board is only designed to support PC1600 and PC2100 DDR RAM, but how could it hurt to give the option to support PC2400 or PC2700, maybe even PC3200 DDR RAM?  Plenty of other 845 chipset based boards can do that.  (Not officially, but through a variety of memory ratios.)  I'm just tired of not being able to do anything with my memory.

  • Strange ide problem with 845 ultra

i have got a really strange problem with my 845 ultra board
    I have a 2.0 GHz cpu in it, 2x 256MB Nanya CAS2 ddr, , gf4ti and a Realtek nic, onboard audio
    ide ports:
    primary master: IBM 80GB hdd
    primary slave : Lite-On dvd
    secundary master: Lite-On 40x cd-rw
Whenever I burn a cd, the whole system hangs while writing the lead-in and lead-out, after that is complete, everything works fine again
Also, when i add files to my Winamp playlist, I always get a general protection fault in Winamp.exe...
And, yes I did check my ram with Memtest86, it is fine
Even a fresh install of either windows 2000 sp3 or windows xp doesn't have any effect, even with all WHQL certified drivers installed
The strange thing is: If I connect all ide devices on a Promise Ultra100 TX2, all problems disappear.
So, is my onboard ide controller dying?
btw, all ide devices work fine in my brothers k7t266 pro2..
    edit: fixed it
Never knew that the Intel ide drivers needed to be installed.
I have never needed any ide drivers for any board,so this surprises me.
