After around 18month the board or CPU seem to have expired. Locked up after running al day and had to unplug power to stop.
Repowered but lights at fromt flashed on and off at 1 sec intervals. Left over nignt now wont start at all only lights on back panel showing. Suspect blown up.
Q1 - Anyone any offers other than PSU which I will try 1st.
Q2 - As i am using 2 HD on raid 0 can I replace the board with a newer one without losing the data.
Q3 - I need a quiet Pc as its in my bedroom and im not too bothered about speed do any suitable boards permit underclocking.

If I change to an 865pe fisr will i loose all the data on the raid 0 config. Presumably you mean the promise raid chipset number that has to be the same.
To my knowledge it is only possible to increase the FSB on the MSI boards.
I already have a quiet zalnan cooler but need quiet to get to sleep so underclocking seems the solution. (I only want the pc to store CCTV and internet so performance not an issue).

When I use Preview,Photo Mechanic and Pages, all JPEG or RAW images appear corrupted.

When I install Nero, the Back Up is the first thing I disable, it is a nagging pain, there are much better backup programs available. There are several file recovery programs out there to recover deleted files, that is, if that is what happened. Also, if you haven't overwritten the files, so you should be able to find them.

Hard drive failed and replaced. Now can't sync Iphone
I had a hard drive that failed and can not sync my iphone with my new Imac. I don't care about all the music, as I have that backed up, but I can't figure out a way to get all my applications sync'd.
I restore my iphone and backup through Icloud but it won't let me sync with my new computer.
Is there any way that I can do this?
I don't have to purchase all applications again right?

This seems like such an obvious thing to want to do in TestStand, but being new to TestStand I am not sure what the best way is to do it...
When we run a test using TestStand, our goal is to determine if we have a failed piece of equipment. If we have a failure, we want to have a message describing the specific piece of equipment that needs to be replaced. We want this callout message to show up in the TestStand report, as well as on the screen as the Test runs.
Any clues as to the best way to do this? A message popup would work for the screen, but that wouldn't go in the report.Use Step.Result.ReportText and set it to anything you want. It will appear in the report. For example, in a post expression for your step, you could include the line Step.Result.ReportText = "Equipment Failure: " + Locals.Equip, where Locals.Equip would be a string containing the name of the failed equipment, like "DMM". The text "Equipment Failure: DMM" will appear in the report.

Photoshop update fail and serial number questions.
After the 30 days trial I submitted for a creative cloud membership of Photoshop. Each time I open Photoshop, the AAM asks for a serial number, which I don't received from you.
Yesterday the first update showed up, but each time the update ends with a fail (U44M1P7)
I send Adobe a log file under ID: 40-47895-155906062013

If you bought the iPhone from an authorized store/vendor, you should have taken the iPhone to them or any other Apple Store for evaluation under warranty.
Once it has been opened by non-Apple entity, Apple will not do anything for this. -
How do I remove one failing hard drive from raid set and replace with new one
Last Friday apparently one of my raid drives started failing.
As I mentioned on this forum I started getting continous beeping.
I was finally able to get the raid working at a degraded level. I ordered a replacement hard drive which is arriving today.
(In the meantime I made twice daily backups of my work.....)
Below was the message I got from the browser based raid software:

At one point when I did the checked the browser interface I saw the message Failed and Degraded
As I said, I was able to work over the weekend on the degraded system.
This morning I got the beeping again and did the rescue and now I am running a "full raid" without the notice that one raid was "Free".
In any case, the new hard drive is arriving today.
What steps should I take to incorporate the new drive into the raid system.
I have one OS drive
and 4 tb raid drives. One needs to be replaced with the new one that I am getting today.

Please tell me how to read the serial number from an individual drive rather easily, without un-installing them:
If you select the proper drive to change out, you only need to remove one drive and look at its serial number...
Step 1: Identify bad drive serial number using Areca's tools
Step 2: Turn off the computer
Step 3: Remove what you think is the bad drive based on following your numbered cable method, marked hot-swap bays, whatever
Step 4: Verify that the serial number matches the "bad drive" serial number from step 1; if it does great, proceed; if it does not match, go back to step 3
Step 5: Change out the CORRECT drive - that's the bottom line for this whole procedure

As I stated my late 2009 iMac 27 inch hard drive failed and is being replaced.. I am being charged as machine does not qualify for the call back program..call backs are on 2011 machines.. However i am in shock that my segate internal iMac hard drive failed in less than two years.. are there others with similar issue? Also when I get machine back will new hard drive be stable .. How do I make sure my working environment is reliable.. I have all my data and work backed up and will be able to rebuild my system but I really do not want to have to go through this down the line again.
Just to update everyone and maybe help people down the road .... It has been a week of **** .... I may have finally solved a problem that I have seen a ton of people in all different types of discussions around the world having trouble with ...... I am going to upload some pictures of what I was getting in the beginning and it came out of no where .... I had the random pixel problem with my display and to make a long story short I came across an article two days ago regarding internal temperatures and fan speed ...... I kept reading about apples approach which is not the point ..... More importantly I dug deeper into temperature control and fan settings .... I discovered all kinds of software and there is only one in my eyes that can help anyone dealing with this display problem .... I will be honest, I do not have the money right now for anything extra and am barely getting by and that is why I kept at it ... I figured keep trying different things because a repair is out of the question ... http://www.crystalidea.com/macs-fan-control - This program has solved my problem - I get to adjust three internal temperatures inside my Imac and slowly but surely as the temperatures remained constant the display is fine .... Like new again .... I cant believe it ..... Turns out the ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB graphics card gets very hot causing it to not do what it is supposed to ..... Anyone that has any questions do not hesitate to contact me ...... I am going to upload some pics .... They are not that clear but if you are going through this you will recognize the images for sure - There was so many more variations but this should help out - Thanks to everyone that takes the time out to help people on this support site .... Power pack failed on iMac OSX Lion and replaced by Apple at a cost. Computer top left and behind is very hot. Is this normal.
Take it back to the shop that did the repair and show them. Check other iMac's on the floor to see if they have this same heat problem.

I did not have my backup with me when my hard drive failed and was replaced at the Apple store. Now it will not download to my new hard drive. A message says that "the volume has the worng case sensitivity for a backup". How can I resore my data from the backup?

How to recover music from shuffle after couputer fails and is replaced
How do you recover the music on the shuffle after computer has failed and been replaced?
Open the Trash. Select all the music files, then use the pull down action menu (the one with the gear) and select "Put back". That will get the files back to your iTunes Media folder.
To get them back to your music library, use the iTunes File menu > Add to library and select your user account/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music folder. That will add anything not aready in your iTunes library. -

i try to create a script for merge use to find and replace all occurence of a certain string using a script but Pages doesn't seems to respond to "Find" even using "System Events"

One failing of this scheme is that the offsets are incorrect if you have inline objects (pictures, shapes, tables, etc.). While it is probably possible to compensate for them, that's a trickier proposition.

Like the title says. My 1 TB drive failed and unfortunately my computer isn't covered on the replacement program even though my hard drive is the one they are claiming to replace. So that is not a solution just to get that out of the way. So I replaced the hard drive. What I am having trouble with is re-installing my OS. I have 10.6. When I load it and restart it just spits it out and I get the question mark folder. What am I doing wrong is there a step I'm missing? I did do a back up to my Time Machine before the crash. Can I plug it into it and reload format? I'm new to this so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!Well, let's hope that nothing was jiggled out of place when you were installing the new hard drive. Your optical drive may just be out of alignment or the disc you have is "dirty." Get a lint-free cloth and some rubbing alcohol, then clean the disc as thoroughly as you can starting from the center and working outward in a concentric circlular motion. See if that helps. In particular clean the inner portion well.
If this does not help, then you have a problem. You have opened the computer yourself. That action voids all support from Apple. If you take the computer in for service the store may refuse to service the computer. This is not related to your now expired warranty. -
Find and replace by text and style
We have a fairly large RH HTML project (300+ topics so far)
most of which have a specific heading in Heading2 style. We want to
change all of these to a style based on Heading2, but not use the
Heading2 style b/c we don't want them to show up in the TOC. I have
created a new style and can obviously open every topic and manually
select and change each one - but I'm hoping that one of your RH
gurus will tell me an easier way. Is there anything comparable to
MS Words Find/Replace that will search the whole project for a
specific word in a specific style?RoboHelp's Multi-File Find and Replace (in the Tools tab)
should be suitable for this job, and you can control each
occurrence as you choose. (Where this RH utility fails is when your
search string might sit on more than one line, which won't be the
case here.)
You'll run two replacement passes (spaces added to < &
> tags for proper viewing in this forum):

Replace < /h2 > with < /p >
The < h2 > and < /h2 > strings will never be
split between lines, so RH will catch every one.
