850E Max VCORE

Ok I am turned my VCORE up .25mv to get my processor speed up reliably and now if I turn my computer off I reboot and everything appears to work correctly except the screen doesnt show anything and the keyboard never gets any power. I then have to manually reset my Power Supply and then reboot. After this things work fine until I turn my system off again. Any ideas?

Is this something you are still interested in? I am OC'ing an 850e max with a p4 2,4 GHz processor. I run it at 3 GHz (FSB @ 168). I have some cold boot problems, and I am worried about my PCI /AGP speeds, although the only problem I have encounterede with that is when burning CD's with Nero. I have to throttle back to get Nero to work.
The cold boots are another story. I get some instances of no posting (same as what you describe).
It would be interesting to exchange some experiences, as this is not the best board for overclocking, but being stuck with it, we may as well make the best of it??!!!

P4 - 850e max (6545) overclocking

Hi all,
I am new to the forum. I am overclocking a msi 850e max (6545) with P4 processor @ 2.4 G. I have successfully managed to run it at 168MHz FSB (=>3.024 GHz), rock solid in all testing . I have 512 MB Infineon 600 MHz RDRAM, which I throtled back to 400 MHz in Bios, resulting in an op. speed of 504 MHz. I have adjusted Vcore to 1,55 V. I have adjusted the memory voltage with the jumper to 1,68 V. The system is rocksolid in all testing and has been going like this for more than a month, idle cpu temp is 39 C, and full load with prime 95 is 53 C. I am using stock cooling, but I did remove the heatsink (I was having 60 C and upwards under load), and reseated it with a resulting temp-drop.
I am experiencing some cold boot problems. I have spend days to find solutions for them, but with only some success up to now . I am inclined towards concluding that the cause is the HD or the ram. I get " Windows could not load because the following file is corrupt or missing : NTFS.sys, or isapnp.sys. These files are present, and at the following boot load without problem. So disk or ram what do you guys think?
I would also like to now if anybody has some more OC friendly bios for this board? any beta versions or modded versions???? It's so strange that MSI makes it possible to set the FSB and Vcore, but you cannot set any diveders for PCI and AGP.
I don't even now if perhaps the divider kicks in automatically once you get to 166 FSB instead of the standard 133?? Does anybody know?

I don't have any trouble with the Radeon card, the display is perfect in testing and does everything It is asked for, even at FSB 177, when other items are crapping out on me.
My cold boot problems are not that bad btw, it does post most of the time, and rather hangs after loading the kernel driver. I found that instead of just trying a number of times till it boots, I press delete and enter BIOS setup, exit without save, and the PC boots OK!!
Are Rimms still sold & used? Does anybody know what make of new mobos with 850 chipset support Rimm modules right now?

MSI KT4 ULTRA MAX VCORE

Is it possible for MSI to add higher Vcore settings with a BIOS update? The MSI KT4 ULTRA has a max Vcore of 1.85 which doesn't really help the overclockers much. If they could get the max Vcore to 2.00 that would be great for XP overclockers. )

I'm not complaining about my KT4 ULTRA. I think its a good board for people who aren't really into overclocking and performance tweaks, but I love to tweak the performance of my rig. I hate to say that other motherboard companies seem to get the picture, that they should make their boards as overclocking friendly as possible. ASUS, Abit, Epox etc. are considered the best because they have conquered into the overclocking market. I wish MSI would throw their hat in the same market because I personally feel they can.

850e Max-ABL / 648 Max-BL info required

does anyone have any specs/info on the the new 850e Max-ABL and 648 Max-BL mobo's ???

Spent some days trying to solve simmilar problems.
Suddenly the computer hangs, or restarts, in two minutes or in few hours, randomely.
(P4 2,4 533, Nvidia5200/128, PQI512/400,WD40JB, WINXPSP2 new installation)
The most strange thing is that with open case it works much better, crashes maybe twice a week.
Thought that inprooving cooling will solve the problem, I put two 8cm coolers, even Sandra and MBMonitor
shows CPU temperature normal, never above 45C. And again, if open side case, it works(better), when closed
it hangs !!!???
3DMark03, hanged system almost iimediately, so I changed the VGA with another,
and now it hangs on the end of tests.
Tried to change processor (couldn't find the same) with Celeron D 2,4 - It could not start at all, later I found
MB can't support necessary voltages for this CPU. (????!!!??)
Finaly tried to change RAM with two PQI256/400. System could not even start BIOS.
After crearin BIOS it starts, showing 512 MB, CL2. Next boot is impossible. Have to clear BIOS again, and
only first boot is OK. Adding one or two 256MB pieces is impossible, too! It doesn't like it!
Updating BIOS to V 1.5 changed NOTHING !
On the end, I spent a lot of time to find this (very special) model of MB and i could not.
It is 648 MAX, MS-6585 F1 VER 20A
Any ideas ???

850E MAX - Hyperthreading and 1066 RDRAM

I just bought an 850E MAX to replace my Dell 8200/intel mobo. I know the 850E chipset supports P4 Hyperthreading, but don't see anything in the manual that refers to enabling it. Also, I read some people have had problems getting 1066RDRAM to work on this MoBo. Has anyone had success using either with this board??
This is my first MSI board and am anxious to see it perform.

No one on the forum answered either of my questions, so I went to MSI Taiwan.
The board WILL support Hyperthreading with a bios upgrade that is not posted on the website. i will not support anything faster than 800RDRAM.

MSI 850e Max - memory test show 480mb?

Greetings all - Forum newbie here
My question is as follows: I have a MSI 6545 850e Max mobo with 2 Kingston 256mb Rambus modules. On boot, memory test shows approx 480mb system memory, not 512. I'm curious as to where the other 32 megs went? I ran 2 SyncMax 128 meg modules with correct memory count....
System specs:
850e Max mobo
Intel 1.6 P4
512mb (2x256) Kingston ECC Rambus
MSI Geforce4 ti 4600 128 mb video
40 gig WD hdd

Well I did some checking and I have one Toshiba Rimm and one Kingston Rimm. Funny thing though - MSInfo ( just how reliable I'm not sure) says I have 512 megs physical ram, DX Diag shows 480 etc. Is there any memory checking program can provide undesputed results? Z97 mpower max vcore question

Hi im a new owner of z97 mpower max for my setup haswell hwbot,and I noticed that the vcore is not accurate
all intel c-state or eist is disable all digitall power is on auto
my 4670k is fixed to 4500mhs with a vcore of 1.32
my vcor is on 1.32 but my fluke on the vcheck point indictaet 1.34
if i put 1.31 my fluke give me 1.33, 1.29=131
i have 4 fluke calibrated with this result the problem is just on the vcore all other voltage is very good

Trust your Fluke. The sensors and digital data translators on the board are not calibrated high precision instruments, else your board would cost even more.
The components used have tolerances and there is no calibration on each and every single board. Download HWINFO64 and see what that gives you.
You have V check points for a reason. Use them.

850E Max & ATA 100 DVD

I recently swapped my motherboard from the 850 Pro to the 850E, on the old board I had a Asus x16 DVD running at ata 100, now on the new board the DVD is running at ata 33, really wierd ??
Any idea's ??

Is it possible you placed the CDRW and the DVD on the same IDE cable? If you have 2 drives of different ATA speeds on the same IDE port, you'll only get the lower of the two on BOTH drives.
It's possible you may have bus mastering disabled in the BIOS or may not have the bus mastering drivers installed in Windows.

Kt3 ARU+1800+Thoro max vcore 1.65...

On kt3 ultra aru i have installed 1800+ thoro with vcore default 1.50.I do not succeed to set up the vcore over 1,65 like never?
therefore I do not succeed to overclock ;(
Why I have this problem? Some solution?

850E Max and 1066 RIMMs

I know this was posted once before but the thread hit a dead end. Has anyone figured out what the heck you're supposed to do about the motherboard not reading the 1066 modules? Yes, I've switched them around in different configurations, but to no avail. I have no other way of getting this thing to work and I just spent 1300 dollars in computer parts to get a computer working so I could work! I need to know if there is a fix, and if there is what do I do? If not, I need to return this MSI board and go with someone who actually has a working 1066 board. This is unreal. Thanks for any responses.

PSU is a Thermaltake 420 Watt...VGA is a Chaintech GeForce 440 MX...
I've tried putting the memory in the different slots to no avail. Even with all the cards and cables disconnected it won't get past the memory.

K9N Platinum vcore setting

i have the K9N Platinum MB, with an AMD 4200 X2 cpu, i have tried to overclock
this chip and have been successful to 11x240 settings with vcore 1.45V, if i try to go
any higher the system just shuts down,what is the max vcore(set in "cell menu") that
i can go with this cpu/MB combo, i have the newest bios, v1.60...?
also anytime i try to manually set the memory timings, the board won't boot...i have OCZ PC2 5400 DDR2 memory
the Gold edition with heat spreaders...can you make some suggestions for setting the timings?

just use "Prn Scr" key to capture the screen, then open MS Paint, and paste from clipboard(ctrl+v), then save image and upload it somewhere, here for example:
