8520 Enterprise OS5

Hi, this is my dilemma... im using an 8520 on BES, the device is running OS4.6 my BES admin has told me that their is not an OS5 enterprise upgrade available so I can't install BB Bridge so I can use my playbook for work.
So can anyone answer....
Is there an OS5 enterprise upgrade??
Can you side load BB Bridge on to a 4.6 device
If so where can I find the file
Or am I going to have to sell my playbook

To be honest I was a little surprised when i was told it had to be an enterprise OS.... I was sat with him when he tried to update it via the BES and it just stated that no update was available, I've tried to do it via desktop manager and again it says no update is available.. they have raised a support ticket with RIM so I guess I just need to wait an
d see :-/

thank you for any help or tutoriel or information

    Hey Robin460,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Thank you for the question.  Updates are determined by your network service provider, if you go to www.blackberry.com/update on your PC it will check for the latest updates for your BlackBerry® Curve™.  If it shows there is no update available then you have the most up to date software.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Os problem in bb curve 8520

    hello
    I have curve 8520 with os5, yesterday I downgrade for os4 using DM but I don't like it so I want to reinstall os5 but I can't.
please how can I upgrade my os to version5 again.
    thank you.

Hello azlanzaid and welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
Sorry to hear you are having an issue with your BlackBerry® Curve™ 8520 smartphone and Wi-Fi® connections.
Since you do not have the Internet Browser as an option, it would seem your BlackBerry data plan does not include browsing.
You will want to contact your mobile carrier to ensure you have a browsing plan. Once it is activated and the service books are pushed down, you will then have the option to change the browser.
    Hope this answers your question.

  • OS5 lock screen customisation

    Hi
I have a 8520 with OS5 Is it possible to have a message or icon on the lock screen indicating number of received SMS or emails seperately instead of just the total showing in the status bar. I did see the app Ultimate Lock which does this but it isn't compatible with my phone.
    Thanks

    Hello The_JinJ,
If you separate your SMS and Messages folder, you should have individual icons to show you how many messages and SMS you have.
    To do this:
    Go to your Messages folder
    Hit the Menu Key
    Go to Inbox Settings
    Remove the check from SMS
Let me know how you make out.
Thanks! And have a great day

  • Adding BIS accounts for a device linked to BES Exchange server

Please could somone guide me in terms of how to add BIS accounts and a BES account to the same device.
The handset I am using is a Curve 8520 running OS5.0.0.592. I upgraded the OS from 4.6 to 5 today.
I have been using this handset for a long time, running purely on BES with a single email account.
Now i need to have other email accounts link to the same handset so that I can stay up to date with the various accounts I manage. I upgraded to OS5 hoping that I would find the function to add other accounts.
The phone only allows me to link to 1 single exchange server. Under Email Settings there are no options to add second or third BIS accounts! I have also looked for the 'personal mail' folder or icon, but this icon has never been on this handset. I have read that some people have done this and managed to have BIS accounts and a BES account running simultaneoously, but I cannot find how to do this.
Please could someone advise on how to do this.

I have this problem too.  The only thing I am guessing is that the domain name of my email is also a domain name I use to adminstrate a website.  When mail goes looking for a server it finds a localhost server with promising looking credentials.
    What say ye?

  • Uncaught exception:Application net_rim_bb_phone_app(78) is not responding;process terminated

    i use a bb curve 8520 with os5
everytime i start my phone i get this error please help me to rectify it... also my app vibrate on call connect is not working

There's pretty much no diagnosing those -- they are the equivalent of the random errors in Windows for which tracing the root cause is fruitless. Basically, these are the last out in the programming code -- some event occurred for which there is no handler in the code. The fix is a code update that handles the event...but, again, knowing what the event is is pretty much impossible. So, there are a few things to try:
If it won't boot up cleanly, then you may need to try Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in safe mode
There might be an updated code set from the carrier -- check them via this portal:
     http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
The toughest possible cause is a badly behaving app. To find it, there are a couple of options. One is to see if you can read the log file:
Go to the home screen. Hold down the "alt" key and type 'lglg'. (You will not see anything while you type). This will bring up the log file. Scroll down (probably many pages) untill you see a line that says 'uncaught execption'. Click on this line. The name of the app will be in the info. Alternative methods for bringing up the logs are in this KB:
KB05349How to enable, access, and extract the event logs on a BlackBerry smartphone
The other method is to remove apps one at a time, waiting a while in between (I usually recommend a week), until the problem ceases...thereby discovering the offending app. Still another method is to reload the BB OS cleanly, leaving some time between adding other apps onto the BB so as to be able to determine exactly which one is the cause.
Good luck and let us know!

  • BlackBerry OS 5 for 9300

Hello there! I purchased a BlackBerry 9300 smartphone and it came with OS6. I used to use the 8520 with OS5. I really love the OS5 though. Is there a way to remove the OS6 and upload an OS5 onto my 9300? I have tried downloading OS5 before but they're all .exe files and I use a Mac. Can anyone help?
    Thank you.
    Marvin

    Hi there!
On MAC, you are limited to only those OS levels that your carrier supports. If the MAC desktop software does not offer the OS level you desire, then your carrier does not support it.
On a PC, you can install any OS package that exists for your model BB. You are not limited to just those that your carrier supports. But, again, that is only via PC...not MAC.
    Good luck!

  • How can I update my OS5 to OS6.0 for my blackberry storm 8520

How can I update my OS5 to OS6.0 for my blackberry storm 8520 plz help anyone thanks

    Hello,
Well, first off...the 8520 is not a Storm, it's a Curve. The 9520 (which you put in your profile here) is a Storm.
So, if your question is about the 9520, then the answer is never. The Storm line is EOL, and as far as I understand, development stopped on the OS in the 5.0 range, and will never move beyond.
    Good luck!

  • Help required with upgrading to OS5 on curve 8520

    Hello everyone,
I'm using an unlocked version of the bb curve 8520 and want to upgrade my bb device os to v5.0. (current version- 4.6.1)
I tried using the application loader on the bb website (NA & India both) but it just tells me that my OS is updated and that i will be notified if there are any updates available. I would be really grateful if someone could help me update my os.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello,
Your warranty is not endangered. You are free to use any carriers OS package on your BB. Your carrier may, however, refuse to provide you with support (including Warranty evaluation/service) until you fall back to their supported device OS level. But your warranty per se is not endangered.
    Good luck!

  • OS5 for 8520 on Orange

    Hi there
Just noticed on the Blackberry website that Orange have finally released OS 5.0.0.1168 for the 8520 but when i go through my phone to use the Wireless Update function it says there is no update available, is this because the OS needs updating through Blackberry Manager or is this not an official release?
    Many thanks

  • Upgarading my 8520 curve software to os5 or 6

Is it possible to upgrade the software of my Blackberry Curve 8520 software to one of the latest OS's? Where can I download the software and how do I install it? I live in South Africa

    Hello,
The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?lid=us:bboftwareesktopSoftware&lpos=us:bboftware
    3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    4) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    5) Launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC. If, during the process, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
    Don't forget to backup.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:
KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software
