8520 How to upgrade to OS 5 with mac

I am new to this forum, so I apologize if this has been asked before, but I've looked everywhere and couldn't find the solution to my problem.
The other day I accidentally downgraded my OS/ firmware, while I was using a PC. I went from threaded sms messages to having seperate messages, my BBM looks weird, my profile options are less etc.
Now I ONLY have access to a MAC, so can anyone tell me what I can to upgrade my firmware/OS. I also wanna be able to type Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
The one offered on Blackberry.com is only PC compatible.
Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Hiya!
Have you tried updating via the Mac DM? you can download the Mac version here and then try the update via Desktop Manager.

  • Boot Camp - How to upgrade to 3.1 with Mac OS X ?

    Hi,
I would like to install Windows 7 on my Mac. The only problem is that Boot Camp 3.1 is required and I only have 3.0. The only updates I found are for Windows but I can't use that if they are required BEFORE the Windows installation (dummies).
So, how do I get a 3.1 update for Mac OS X ?
    Sincerely.

you misread. Just use Boot Camp Assistant, follow the guide, and install 3.0 off your OS X DVD after Windows is up and running.
some macs do need special drivers beforehand.
The name "boot camp" is used too often, for too many different things, and means something different at different contexts. Windows partition; drivers; Assistant; Boot Camp control panel in Windows.

  • HT201318 how to upgrade icloud storage plan with  10.6.8?

I haven't upgraded my computer software, so how to upgrade my icloud storege plan as when inside system preferences
there is no icloud icon just the old mobile me. Thanks

You can only do this from a Mac running 10.7.5 or above, or Mountain Lion; or an iOS5 or above device; or the iCloud Control Panel on a compliant version of Windows.
If you only have access to the Mac and don't want to upgrade the system you could go to an Apple Store and ask the 'Genius' to do it for you (make an apppointment). Note that you won't be able to cancel the automatic renewal yourself .
If you decide to upgrade your Mac you will need to check that it meets the requirements.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
To purchase it you will have to ring Apple at the number given at the bottom left of this page.
The requirements for Mountain Lion are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
    and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • Upgrade to Photoshop CS5 with Mac OS 10.4.11

I am running Tiger 10.4.11 Tigger as I have film scanners that cannot run on the newer 10.5 and 10.6 OS. Can I upgrade to CS5 while running Mac OS 10.4.11. I am using two dual-core intel Xeon processors.

Jeff will creative suite 4 web premium run with Mac os 10.4.11?
    Michael
    No...
    Leopard 10.5.4 (I think it's 10.5.4, might be 10.5.5) is minimum...the
installer won't even run in Tiger...
Time to do a dual boot install...or a new scanner.

  • How can I upgardge hard drive with mac osx 10.8

Looking to upgrade the hard drive on our 2009 iMac.  What do I need to in Time Machine and or Mountain Lion to swap out drives?

I've used both IcyDock and G-Drive enclosures.
The prices vary quite a bit and you get what you pay for.
I don't know what type of ports you have on that iMac, but if you have Firewire 800, you might consider paying the extra bit for an enclosure that supports that. Much faster transfer rate.
The other thing to look for, and it might be a little difficult to dig out, is you need an enclosure that can support the 3 TB drive. The newer ones will likely support that big a drive, but the older ones (likely being sold at a discount) may not.
From what I have read (http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/imac-aluminum-faq/imac-intel-21.5-inc h-27-inch-aluminum-how-to-upgrade-hard-drive.html), the drive is a 3.5" drive, so the link Clinton posted won't work.
And, according to that article, the drive is somewhat special in that you can't just buy any hard drive. Make sure you find a Hard drive specifically designed for that iMac.
Also, based on that article I posted, you may need to do some more research on what exactly Apple does to the drive for the iMac, as it may not work in any enclosure.

  • How to upgrade hard drive without resinstalling Mac OS X

Hello everyone. I have a MacBook Pro 17'' with the original 160GB HD but now I want to upgrade my hard drive to a Seagate 500GB. My question is, how can I upgrade the HD without reinstalling and setting up all my stuff again?
Can this be done with TimeMachine and a Time Capsule? Any other option?
    Thanks in advance.
    David

yes, this can be done with Time machine. you'll need an external drive (could be a Time capsule or a directly attached drive). make backup of your current system. then replace the hard drive. then boot from the leopard install DVD and use the system restore utility in the utilities menu at the top to restore your old system from the backup onto the new hard drive. note that the new drive should be properly formatted: Mac os extended journaled format with GUID partition scheme. you'll most have to reformat the drive using disk utility first before using the restore utility.
another option is to put your old hard drive into an external hard drive enclosure (USB or firewire), install the new hard drive in the MB, then boot from the external drive and clone it to the new internal. you can use CCCloner or Superduper for cloning. again, reformat the new internal first. or you can clone your internal to an external (if you have a regular external drive but don't have an enclosure), then replace the internal drive, boot from the external and clone it back to the internal.

  • How to use multiple midi controllers with Mac book pro (2 usb)?

I have a newer macbook pro that has 2 USB ports, and a lightning port and a firewireport.
On stage I will be using the firewire port connected to a Presonus Firestudio mobile to use as the interface to the house mixer.
I will use 1 USB for my M-audio Axiom 61
I will use the other for my Yamaha WX-5 Wind synth
I'd like to be able to get the apogee midi foot controller to control the playback audio. For example I'll be using it to stay in a solo section, then step on it to move it forward ot the next section when I am done soloing
I'd also like to use some sort of midi switch to turn on vocal effects of the mic.
Anyway since I only have 2 USB ports, how should I connect the 3rd, or 4th USB midi controller?
Will a USB hub work to do this? If so, will I always have to remember to use the same controler in the same exact hub input to make sure everything maps the same?
I guess I'll also have to learn how to setup multiple controllers in Mainstage as well.
    Thanks
    Dan

    Hi there,
is a question which many of us have spent ...
I think the obvious answer is that yes you can use a hub and connect everything. however ....
sincerely advise you to buy a good hub that is well feasible, the last thing you want on stage / rehearsal is one of midi controllers stop responding, or stay with hanged notes... etc., do not buy just because it is cheap it has to be stable and viable, some bring cable for connecting wall power just to not drain power from the USB port.
Other things to try is to distribute as much equipment for USB / Midi.
For example one of midi controllers connect via USB but not by Midi outside the Presonus Firestudio. Connecting Presonus Firestudio to a single USB port as it is a main equipment.
but it really is an issue that greatly limits the use of USB devices.
Try it and tell me how it went. Good luck
(sorry for my english i´m Portuguese)

  • How to use seagate external drive with Mac

i have just purchased a SEAGATE EXPANSION EXTERNAL DRIVE, USB 3.0...can i use it with my Mac OXS....10.7.4....

No trouble for a few minutes, then I have to go out.
Re 'Too much detail'   When you ask a question such as the one we are working on, suitable detail would be ...
I have an (Apple item, iMac,model etc) running on (OS X 10.7.4).   I have just purchased a Seagate (size, model etc) external drive and would like to use it for (list uses).   Then ask specific questions.
If I can make this observation.    You appear to have gone out and bought a Seagate drive from somewhere without knowing what it will be used for.   They are not cheap.
It may be worth while to go and talk to whoever sold it to you and ask how you can best use it to meet your needs ... or if they will advise you how to set it up.
    Most decent shops will oblige.
But if it was an on-line purchase then my original suggestion of talking to Seagate is probably the best line to take.
Hope you find all this helpful.

  • How to put windows XP on with Mac OS X

OK, now I am able to get OS X back onto the Mac Book. I tried installing Windows XP with the disk that came with the computer. Got all the way to start up until it asked for a password. I didn't put in a password so of course it didn't recognize one. I am in the process of starting all over because I don't think that was going to work any way. My question now is after installing OS X, how do you get windows XP on too?

There are several choices, but three are probably the most common.
    1. Boot Camp, which comes with Leopard. Using this set up, you will need to reboot your MacBook each time you want to change from OS X to WinXP or vice versa.
2-3. Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion, each of which sells for approximately $80. These do not require rebooting, so are more convenient, IMHO (I use Parallels).
For all three of these solutions, you will need to install WinXP after setting up your choice of virtualization software (though Boot Camp is technically not virtualization). It is all really very straightforward.

  • How to upgrade e50 firmware via apple mac?

    I own an E50 (RM-170) which is currently running v 06.41.3.0.
How do I tell what the most up-to-date firmware is?
And how do I upgrade the firmware into the phone using an Apple Mac? (I saw the updater software for Windows but couldn't see a Mac version).
    Thanks
    Peter Crow, New Zealand

Check on the Nokia software update site for your specific model. Be aware that they release firmware for different regions at different times.
As for upgrading via a Mac, that isn't available as yet.
Don't bother trying through Parallels. I have and it doesn't work.
