8520 sound keeps muting

I have had my BB curve for just over a week now and on a daily basis the sound keeps going onto mute whilst still on a 'normal' profile.
Changing the profile makes no difference, I have to pull the battery out.
Twice now this has made me miss the morning alarm.
Does anyone have a solution to this or do I just have a faulty handset?

  • Sound keeps muted, iTunes doesn't play songs

Sinds a week or two sometimes when I boot my mac my sound doesn't work. My sound keeps muted and I can't turn the volume up because it's unclickable grey.
Someone told me to do the "cmd + ctrl + n + v"-trick and that sometimes helps me but the problem keeps coming back. Also iTunes doesn't want to play my songs, it keeps stuck on 0:00.
In my sound-systempreferences everything seems okay.
    My specs are:
    -  iMac mid 2012 running OSX lion 10.7.4
    -  Processor  3,4 GHz Intel Core i7
    -  Memory 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    -  Video AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB

the same thing is happening to me as well since I upgraded to the latest version of iTunes. My sound beeps now in everything, from email notifications, to music. But iTunes won't play any songs that I select. Hope to get some feedback.

  • Sound keeps turning on and off on my mac pro

So the sound keeps muting and unmuting on my comp. Any suggestions? I've tried ressetting permmisions and trashing prefs (both on FCP and Finder) doesn't seem to help. It's driving me crazy.

    Try resetting the iPod.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Sounds keeps unmuting after boot

This is on a 2.8Ghz MBP with 8GB RAM on 10.6.8:
Had to reinstall the OS because of an issue that caused Address Book to become corrupted.
Now that everything is re-installed the sound keeps UN-muting itself after a reboot.
I've done all the regular maintenance routines:
    -  Ran all the Onyx maintenance and cleaning routines.
    -  Manually did a permissions repair
    -  Used DiskWarrior to repair directory
    -  etc...
I also setup a TEST user account with admin permissions; the sound keeps unmuting itself in that account also.
I know it's not a hardware problem because this just started yesterday AFTER I reinstalled the OS.
Any suggestions - OTHER than doing a clean install or taking it to the Genius Bar?

I never found an answer to fix the sound driver issue but I did find a quick fix - which technically could be applied to several "this doesn't work right anymore" issues:
    -  I first verified that no user or system preferences (that were searchable) were corrupted.
    -  I used Carbon Copy Cloner to backup the entire drive (OS, apps... the whole enchilada).
    -  I did a CLEAN install (drive wipe first) of Snow Leopard including all the relevant updates and made sure things all worked smoothly - including my sound card issue.  I made a temporary user account with admin permissions.
    -  Using Migration Assistant I transferred all my data back over to the MBP.
    -  Once I verified all was well with the transfer and things were still working properly I then deleted the temp user account.
Now the system is back to normal.  Total time:  About 1.5 hours.  That was a much faster option than taking it to the Genius Bar or doing a clean install of *everything*.
The only caveat here is that if you're having issues on your system that's being caused by an poorly designed application and you transfer it back to your newly installed OS you'll have whatever problem existed all over again.  For me I knew all my apps were stable (Adobe, Apple and several other third-party apps for video/audio editing) and they weren't the root of the problem.

  • Keypad sound keeps going

    Hi,
I have ipad with retina display ios6.0.1 The keypad sound and lock click keeps going after i have been on internet .Music and video audio is fine. It comes back after a while,Any ideas why this keeps happening?
    Thanks

For some reason, system sounds are being muted. Keyboard clicks and the lock sound are system sounds, you can mute those sounds and still listen to music and have sound in the videos app.
What is puzzling is why this happens randomly. You can control how system sounds are muted either by using the side switch via Settings>General>Use Side Switch to>Mute. That will let you mute system sounds by using the side switch. If you have the switch set to lock rotation, you mute system sounds using the software switch in the task bar by double tapping the home button, swiping all the way to the right in the task bar, and then tapping on the speaker icon all the way to the left.
Is is possible that you are accidentally muting the sounds using one of these two methods? If you are not accidents muting the sounds, see if rebooting the iPad solves the problem.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Volume keeps muting

my volume keeps muting by itself..yes i checked the button on the side...its done it a few times..i even check setting and it shows the volume up all the way...turning the phone off and back on seems to fix it..but then it happens again...what gives?

I have the same problem - I've toggled the ring/mute button, reset the volume in General Settings, and sworn at my phone a lot when I've slept in (alarms are supposed to still sound even if the ring button is on mute). The phone vibrates, but I also miss a lot of calls and the mild vibration of the phone on the end table was not enough to wake me up this morning.

  • When using FaceTime, all other sounds are muted. This defeats functionality. When will this be corrected?

When using FaceTime, all other sounds are muted. This defeats functionality. When will this be corrected? Does anyone know of a "fix" for this problem? This definately is NOT a feature.

yes, that is exactly what mine did too. I noticed that something is wrong after receiving calls and did not hear anything.
It was like the IPhone did not realize that the headphone is not any longer plugged in. I m not sure weather I plugged/unplugged the headphones after this more than once but it startet working correctly.

  • Why does the sound keep going out?

The sound keeps going out for everything:  iTunes, any website  which has audio, even the volume buttons on my keyboard.  I notice that when I restart my computer it will work temporarily, maybe 10-15 minutes and then will go out again.  This just started happening and I'm not sure what is going on. Please help!

  • Walkman sound remains muted after missed call on headset

I've noticed on my Z1C that if I receive a call while playing music through the headset, the music mutes to play the incoming call ringtone as expected. However, if I do not answer the call, the walkman continues to play the track again, but the sound is muted. I have to press pause, then play, to hear the sound again.

Thank you for the feedback. Could you state which headset your are using?

  • Eny M4 with Beatsaudio, sound keeps going out.

Sound keeps going out, have to either reboot or stop and start services.
just bought it,   Win7 Professional, all updates,  uninstalled IDT High Def audio software, sound works, but at a low level, not getting the boost it should have with the IDT software.
    Suggestion?
    W5D

    Hello W5D,
    Let's try something simple first.
Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select 'Playback Devices'.
Left click the default device once to highlight it ( it's usually 'speakers & headphones' ) then click the Properties button.
Click the Enhancements tab and put a tick in the box next to 'Loudness Equalization'.
Click Apply to save the change and then click OK in all remaining windows
Please let me know if this helps.  If not, please reply with your product number and operating system.
    Good luck!
