8530 won't work unless it's plugged in

I'm stuck in the 80s with a corded phone again.
It works fine if it's plugged in. But when I unplug it and try to use it, a white screen will flash and then it turns off completely.  It automatically tries to reboot, but fails on most occasions. I have to hard reboot to get it to work again and still have to have it plugged in.  Anyone have ideas on how to get this to work??

Hi
It would be useful if you could try a different battery, to rule out a battery problem

  • The iPod won't work unless it's plugged into the AC Adaptor...

It only works when plugged into the AC Adaptor. Otherwise it is unresponsive. The hold button is definitely not on. When I plug it into the AC adaptor, a number of things happen:
    1. The battery does'nt show the charging animation. It only stays full.
    2. When I plug it into the AC adaptor, the apple logo pops up and the ipod seems to be reloading info for a sec...then it goes right into the menus.
When I do have it plugged in, it works fine. All songs play clean without any skipping...even when in shuffle and repeat mode the song progression is clean.
By the way, I have a 20 Gig monochrome 4th Gen iPod. This is my 3rd replacement iPod, as the support at the apple store in SOHO, NYC simply give me replacement ones. I'm not sure if they are refurbished or not. It has'nt given me any problems thus far and I have 688 songs on it plus other files in disk mode.

Yes I know it's booting up, the problem is it won't boot up unless it is plugged into the AC adaptor...
It's not asleep...otherwise it would turn on without being plugged in to the AC adaptor. It can also be reset which would yield the same booting up screen process, but again regardless of how many resets I do, it won't work unless plugged into the AC adaptor.
This is a new replacement and it was fully charged yesterday when it decided to stop working.

  • Ok so I have the I pod 5.  I dropped it along time ago and I cracked a but, it's works okay I'm saving uo for an iPhone. Sooo back to what I was saying my I pod won't work unless it's plugged in, even if it's plugged in all night in the morning it still 2

20 percent and I can't use it for 2 minutes without it dying on me when it's not plugged in what do i do plz help

That is not consistent with saying it works okay...the iPod is severly damaged if it dies in 2 minutes and the screen is cracked.  There is nothing anyone can do to help with that other than advise you to take it to an Apple store for an out-of-warranty replacement.  Or else wait until you save the money for the iPhone and buy that when you can.

  • My phone won't work unless it is plugged in.

  • Won't work unless plugged in

My 5th gen. iPod is about a year and a half old and has hardly been used because it WON'T WORK UNLESS IT'S PLUGGED IN! Whenever I plug it into my MacBook, it turns on, restores, syncs, etc. But whenever it is unplugged, it immediately shuts off and won't work. Help?!

Take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.  More than likely you need a new battery.

  • My i-pod key pad/wheel won't work unless it is hooked up to my computer

I bought my i-pod a while back, and it has worked fine until now. My i-pod key pad/wheel thing won't work unless I have it hooked up to my computer. When it is hooked up it works fine, when it isn't hooked up the key-pad/wheel thing won't respond to any thing, it just won't work. Please help me figure out what is wrong with my i-pod and fix it!!!!!

No. Back it up anyway. If you can't use the built-in backup function of iTunes, find the library in the Windows Explorer and back that folder up as you would any other.

  • I just installed Lion 3 days ago, now my audio won't work, unless I use headphones, also space bar glitches, and other software issues..MacBook Pro 15 inch, and most everything is messed,,but the audio is killing me.

I installed Lion a few days ago, ever since then my audio won't work, unless I use my headphones.  Also, the saver screen with password changes frequently, and the space bar works when it wants to.  There are many other issues I am having.  My IPhoto,,does not work properly, pages is not working, I have all versions.  The Office Suite is acting strange, and my email accounts work when they want,,,my IPhone 4 won't sync anymore.  The list is endless...does anyone else have this problem?

Your wifi problem sounds very much like the problem I had. The wifi would drop out, the icon showed it was still connected. If I turned it off, I couldn't turn it back on. Another user here pointed me to the problem, which was the wifi cable (the flat cable goint from the card to the motherboard). I found it on ebay for $13 and it's been running fine since I replaced it. This is the repair guide for your machine. The part number will be on there if you click the link.

For some reason the speakers on my phone do not work unless it is plugged into a power source.  Why?

If no change after the following steps, your iPhone likely has a hardware problem.
Power your iPhone off and on.
An iPhone reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release.
Restore your iPhone with iTunes from the backup.
Restore your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup.

    You do not have insurance.
You do have a one year warranty on workmanship and materials.
Call Apple and set up an appointment to have them look at it.
They should fix it ot replace it for you.

  • Firefox won't work unless I click a link twice, or it refuses to load a page

Ever since I upgraded to 3.6.13, Firefox will often not load a webpage unless I click the link a second time. The first time, I'll click it and...it might work, but most likely it won't work and I won't notice it hasn't worked until about minute has gone by and it's done nothing. I saw that I had clicked it, because the link is highlighted..it just refused to do anything. So I'll click it again, and then it'll go.
I've noticed this when I get a Page Not Found page. I go to click "Try Again", and I've seen that I clicked the button...but nothing happens, it doesn't even try to reload the page. I'll click it a second time, and then it'll go.
    This is so frustrating!

I have the same problem on my website. It only happens in Firefox. IE, Chrome and Safari are working fine.
Very strange behaviour. Check this page: http://1stlook.nl/webdesign-eindhoven.html
You have to push the orange button twice. First time it only drops. Only if you click in the right corner it works???

  • My safari won't work unless I click a link?

Recently I used AdwareMedic to clean off adware that had made its way on my computer.  Once it was cleaned, I restarted my computer to be safe.  Since the restart, every time I open my Safari a page comes up that states, "Safari Can't Open the Page."  It goes on to state that the server unexpectedly dropped the connection, and to wait a few minutes then try again.  However, time isn't helping my problem.  I've restarted it again, I've updated my software, and I can't find any other discussions about this. (Forgive me if I've just missed it.)  Then, I tried to click a link that was texted to me through the Messages app, and Safari worked (mostly).  Some websites still wouldn't work, but I could get on most everything else.  Does anyone know how to fix this problem?  I'd like to use Safari without clicking a link that was sent to me through a text.  Thank you very much.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • My ipod charger cord won't work unless I put presure on it

This is my second iPod touch I've got, first one had a home button problem and got a new ipod and now it's my charging/syncing system not working,
home button won't respond until I press real hard and the earphone port won't work, I can't hear. I need help asap. My warranty is expired so I don't know what to do, should I buy a new one? Thanks

It appears that your iPod encountered an error and you have to restore via iTunes. That is how it works.
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • C and H keys won't work unless I use the shift button. How can I fix this?

Now the 'V' button no longer works unless I use the shift key. I do not enjoy having to switch back and forth between cap-locks on and cap-locks off.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
    * [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Speakers won't work unless I plug in headphone - or mic.

I've spent 2 days looking on this forum and many others - and cannot find a solution to this problem .
    Here is what I know.
I cannot get sound out of my speakers unless I plug something into a headphone or microphone jack.  When I do that, it will play through the speakers AND the headphones - UNLESS - I plug a headphone into either headphone jack AND a microphone into the microphone jack.  When I do that, it finally plays ONLY thru the headphones. Pull the microphone out - sound comes through the speakers.  Take all of them out - no sound out of speakers.
    Here is what I've done.
A complete rebuild back to factory settings.
A hard reset and BIOS default after removing the drivers and reinstalling the original driver for my machine as administrator.

Disabling the communication headphones and reboot.
Enabling the communication headphones and reboot.

    Here are some other oddities.
The Audio Control appears to be calling my speakers Analog Jacks instead of Speakers ( a clue as to why all of this is happening ? )
If I'm playing music or a video and adjust the volume on, preview, or test the communication headphones - the music will come through the speakers briefly.
