8600 GT with a HDTV

I have a MSI 8600 GT (passive cooled model) and tried to hook it up to a 37 inch hdtv. The tv supports 720p resolution. I used a video out to composite cable that came with my card and a standard composite cable to hook up to the tv. With the tv on composite imput, I see the bios then XP starting up and then when it should come to the logon screen, the screen turns blue and says, "Imput Error". Can anyone tell me what is wrong? And before someone says, get a hdmi cable, I would like to, but they seem amazingly expensive. Any help appreciated.

you visited mac pro section forum on MacRumors? you will find more help and tips, and you would need 10.7.4 or later.
MacVidCards sells and supports and flashes (so you get early boot screen).
You need to also include Nvidia driver and CUDA.
Some cards and brands do better than others also.
But I am sure you will find that someone is using that model.
The GTX 570 is $319 2.5GB and higher performance but you should be okay.
Some have the GTX 460 as well.

    Hi,
An OCR software i integrated within the HP Scan Software.
Within the Applications folder locate the Hewlett-Packard folder and launch the HP Scan software.
Once completing the scan you may select RTF or TXT files which will save the scan by processing OCR.
If you do not have the HP Scan software installed be sure to install the following software by checking the HP Scan option during the installation:

That is not an AirPrint supported printer. Check for compatibility here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4356
Check the App Store for an HP app that may provide limited printing functionality. Alternatively, you can use your computer as a wireless print server using an app like Printopia. Note that your computer must be on and able to print for this solution to work.

  • Why won't my mini dp to hdmi adapter work with my hdtv?

I recently bought a 2011 Macbook Pro 13" notebook, and the girl who sold it to me also sold me the Moshi mini display-port to HDMI adapter. She said all I would need to hook my laptop up to my Vizio LCD hdtv was that adapter and a regular HDMI cable. So I've now tried to hook them up no less than 10 times, and nothing still. The only thing that happens is, my laptop screen will turn blue and adjust the screen size as if it's trying to adjust to the TV, and my TV will say "retrieving data." So it looks like it's getting ready to connect, and then my computer screen will go back to normal, and my TV will then say either "not support" (whatever that means) or "no signal." Now I know there is nothing wrong with my macbook, since I have been able to hook it up to the TV with my friend's adapter. I thought she had the same adapter as me, but now that I really look at it, I think it's a display-port to VGA adapter. Plus the cable she uses is something other than an HDMI cable. Does anyone know why my adapter isn't working? Or is it possible that it's just faulty and I wasted my money? (Note: I've tried adjusting the resolution, display, etc, and nothing makes a difference).

I too experienced the same issue.  Here are my details:
Recently I bought a 15” Macbook Pro and last night I tried to connect and use a Edirol FA/66 Firewire 400 connected outboard audio interface using a Firewire 400 to 800 adapter then connected to a Firewire 800 to Thunderbolt adapter since the MBP doesn’t have a native Firewire port.  What I observed is that the Edirol was not getting power from the bus nor did the MBP (running Yosemite) recognize the Edriol.  At first I thought there was a problem with the Edirol since I haven’t used it in a while but when I connected it to an older MBP that has a native Firewire port, it worked normally.  Is there a known issue with these sorts of external audio interfaces working properly with newer MBP running Yosemite?  I’m hoping that a software update will fix this issue.

  • Resolution jumps with Panasonic HDTV

Since buying my Mac mini in December 09 I've been using a Panasonic HDTV (TX-L37G15B) as my monitor. With the Mini DisplayPort-DVI adaptor and then a DVI-HDMI cable into the TV everything was set up in perfect HD. The Mac detected the TV and chose 1080p without needing to adjust anything.
Since the 2009 Aluminium Keyboard Firmware Update on 13/02/2010 my Mac will no longer hold it's resolution. Without warning it will jump to an alternate resolution but still show 1080p in the Display Settings.
I can change the resolution to another and back to 1080p and it will hold for a short time and then once again jumps/stretches to the wrong size. Overscan is turned off and I've tried setting the resolution in Safe Mode with little affect.
Would using the Mini DVI Port help matters?
    Any info would help, thanks,
    Chris

Try a couple of troubleshooting things.
Repair the Disk Permissions with Disk Utility in Apps/Utilities. Highlight your startup volume to the left and in the First Aid pane to the right press the Repair Permissions button.
Reset PRAM. Restart your Mac with a wired USB keyboard attached and immediately press & hold the CommandOption+PR keys. After you hear a second startup chime release all of the keys and let the Mac start normally.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 "Problem with Printer or Ink System'

A gander at this forum suggests I am one ofa multitude of people perplexed by this issue. There is a notation beside one enquiry which says 'Problem Solved'.... well it isn't for me. My printer (typical!) is one month out of warranty. I had to replace the black cartridge and, when I did, it came up with this error prompt. I then replaced all the other cartridges. HP suggests removing the printhead and following that they say place it 'upside down on a clean sheet of paper'... NO instructions for cleaning it!! When it is replaced in the printer they suggest you 'rock the printhead left and right to make sure that the printhead fully seats in the carriage' and if THIS doesn't fix things 'try reseating the printhead up to 3 times'... This in itself is an admission of an 'issue' with this product. It doesn't sound like a very scientific engineering 'fix' to me!
A new printhead costs almost what we paid for the printer a year ago. I hate consigning anything to landfill that I can avoid... unfortunately it looks like that is where this unit belongs...

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 print with depleted cartridges

The HP Officejet Pro 8600 User Guide says:
"The printer can operate with one or more depleted cartridges. However, printing with depleted cartridges slows the printer and affects the quality of printed documents. If the black cartridge is depleted, blacks are not as dark. If a color cartridge is depleted, output is in grayscale. When possible, replace the depleted cartridge. Do not remove the depleted cartridge until you have a new ink cartridge available to replace. "
But the printer does not print with an depleted yellow cartridges. Do I have to change some settings? Or how can I make the printer print my document without replaceing the yellow cartridges?

I am annoyed. There is nothing on page 91 of my manual to indicate that there needs to be ink in all cartridges.  I can understand now why it won't print when one is empty, but one of the reasons I bought this printer is because it is supposed to print black only when up to 2 cartridges are depleted. What exactly is your printer model? The verbage of the above is that for an IPH printer (with a black and a tri-color cartridge or perhaps a black, tri-color and photo cartridge), it does not apply to printers with separate ink supplies and printheads.  Can you give a link to the manual online, or scan the page and post it here for your printer?
I can find several manuals online but not the one that I have and I don'tknow how to upload anything here. I have copied and pasted the relevant information from "my" manual, which has a black cover, says Officejet Pro in green, and says 8600 User Guide in white. I can see the other information in other manuals which explains about printing with LOW ink but not with NO ink. If you can tell me how to upload "my" manual, I'd be happy to do so. Meanwhile, here's what I've copied and pasted, and thanks for your interest.

  • Using 8600 software with older office jet on same network

is it possible to use the Office Jet 8600 printer driver and software system (version 22) with other older office jet printers on the same network, such as a 4500?   My interest is in scanning, fax-printing, and setting up digital fax reception to a network attached storage device, rather than to a wintel pc computer running all the time.

You're going to have to access your routers admin pages and check the DHCP address range.  This is the 'automatic' IP that it hands out to your devices.   IP for your router are typically 192.168.1.2 thru .254.  192.168.1.1 is typically reserved for the router itself.   Set the DHCP range to 192.168.1.100 thru .254.  This now leaves static IP's 192.168.1.2 thru 192.168.1.99.   Set the printer to something like 192.168.1.10.
Now change the wireless channel in the router to channel 1.  Save settings.   Now try.

    Hi!
In the problem i described above i was using: TV->HDMI->DVi-->miniport To DVI-->Mac. However,
I have tried to connect my macbook to normal 22 display using macbook-> miniportToDvi-->ext display. and everything works fine. So i assume that problem is with my HDMI to DVI cable. I will try to find another one tomorrow and it should fix the problem.

  • Using MBP with LCD HDTV

So I've been looking at getting a new LCD HDTV. Someone said that I needed to get a minimum of a 42'' and also at least 1080p resolution. I was going to hook this all up using the HDMI out into a DVI in the TV.
Is this true? What are your set ups? I'm pretty anxious. I want to use this for movies but also possibly as an external monitor (I know a little ridiculous, but not all the time). Let me know guys! Thanks.

It is easier than you think. First, get a TV with at least 2 HDMI ports. You may wish to connect the other to a HDTV DVR (cable or satellite) or even an HD-DVD/BluRay player.
Next, measure the distance. This is critical. 1080p has TWICE as much bandwidth used as a 1080i signal.
Now, open a new tab in your browser (Apple+T) and go to my favorite cable guys www.bluejeanscable.com I say they are my favorite as they were courteous and honest. Alan Denke, the proprietor of the business, answered truthfully when I asked if his cheapest line of DVI-HDMI cables, the Tartan series, would make it at 50 feet. He asked what kind of hardware I was connecting. I told him, "Well, a brand new 47-inch Vizio with 1080p native support, and a 2.4GHz MacBook Pro." It was then that he said the display didn't really matter, but the source did. And he said the MBP would work just fine.
Cable arrived here from Oregon in one business day, though I didn't pay anything extra for it. Just plain old Priority Mail.
It was then I learned I needed about 30 feet, rather than 50. Remember the step up there where it says ,"Measure?" Yeah, I guesstimated. I kept the cable though, thinking that some day I might use the computer in the kitchen or something.
Now, you'll need to get appropriate playback software. Quicktime just doesn't do .ts (transport stream) files, nor does it do .mkv (Matroska Video Codek) files. It ought to, but it won't. So, no Front Row for HD playback at 1080i. There is hope on the Open Source horizon, though. Go off and open another tab to direct yourself to www.videolan.org
The latest release even has support for the Apple Remote!
Getting audio to your setup is a slightly different thing, but can be done with parts from (ugh) radio shag. For analog audio (which is fine for me as my system don't do any better with digital input), just get a 1/8" STEREO (will have 3 conductors [or two 'rings']) to dual RCA out. They usually have 3 and 6 foot versions of this cable. To extend, you've got 3 options: 8', 16' or 20' male to female 1/8" stereo.
Hope this info helped. If you haven't bought your lcd tv yet, take a look at Vizio. I believe them to be the best bang for the buck out there.

  • Menus and Fonts too small with Panasonic HDTV

I just hooked up a new Mini (Intel chip) to my Panasonic HDTV-- 34" Model No. CT-34WX53-- using a DVI cable. The desktop shows up fine, but the menus and fonts are so tiny that I can't read them. When I try using Front Row, the pictures and vide are gorgeous and the fonts in Front Row are fine. It's just the fonts and menus in on the desktop and in other programs that are too small. Does anyone know how to fix?
Mini Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.5)
Mini Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Edward,
That's the price of having a gazillion pixels!
You have two options - send less pixels to the display or change each application (Including the finder) to show larger fonts and icons.
The lower the resolution option is easy and fast. The downside of "zoom"-ing the display is it may look blocky at certain resolutions and the fonts and fine details in photos and movies may be lost if the mac has to alias or scale the video. If you do this - you might want to enable the menu bar item for display preferences to quickly switch between the setting you prefer. I use one setting for actually using the mac and another setting for playing movies and showing slides in FrontRow.
The change the preferences to make the fonts and icons larger is more of a pain but yields the most crisp display and you don't have to change things up. I would start with Finder Preferences (select an icon on your desktop and on the View menu - show view options - crank up the icon size and font size.) Unfortunately - you have to do this in each application you use. It also won't change the menu font sizes - you might need an "extension" from a developer to change that.

  • HDMI connection problem with Olevia HDTV 237T

I have a problem with the Fios HDTV box not communicating via the HDMI cable to my Olevia HDTV 237T. Every time I start up or change channels from HD signal to SD signal, the TV goes to blue screen with no signal. The only solution found so far is to unplug the HDMI cable from the TV and plug it in again. I tried an HDMI switcher box in-between but with no real difference in the result.  Is there a solution to be found before I wear out the connectors on the cable?

The only other thing you could do would be to try upgrading the firmware on your television. That might fix the HDMI sync issues. If it doesnt, the only other option would be to use a component cable. It will give you the same 1080i quality picture that our set top box puts out. That HDMI sync problem is the biggest problem that any device that communicate HDMI can encounter. I'm sorry for the trouble you are experiencing.

Looks like APEX is again sending "%null%" rather than NULL even though this was previously reported as a bug and reported as fixed.Strange. I have the same apex version and it works for me. Will double check tomorrow. Could it be that somehow your parent LOV still holds the %null% value from some upgraded version? I guess the application version is set/was updated to 4.1.
Other then that it is often faster to write the statement like this
    select DISTINCT TRADER_NAME d, TRADER_NAME r
    FROM RULEMGR.INTRADAY_MARGIN_MONITOR_LT_CM
    WHERE ( :P55_MEMBER_LT is null or  :P55_MEMBER_LT = '%null%' or  :P55_MEMBER_LT = CLEARER_NAME )
order by 1 The nvl version prevents index usage on clearer_name. Because clearer_name is on both sides of the equation. In some cases my version can use an index (although it is not garanteed that this works).
