8600 N911

Hello, I am having a scanning issue with my iMac running OS X 10.9.5 Mavericks.  I have installed the latest software, the HP Inkjet OSX Mavericks and performed the software update yesterday (HP printer software update Version 2.16.1).  Here's the problem I'm having:
Although I have the software that says I can scan to my desktop, scan to my email and scan to my folder; I am unable to do any of those things.  The reason being, is if I attempt to start a scan from my printer, it will make connection with my iMac, then about 60 seconds later, the printer will beep, and I get an long error message stating that the printer lost connection with the iMac.
I have also tried without success using the HP Scan application.  I opened it, located my printer, and clicked on the scan button.  Within 20 seconds, I get a message that my scanner reported an error.  The actual error is: "An error occurred during scanning"
I next tried going to HP's embbeded web server, I clicked on the scan tab, and then subsequently on the webscan button; followed by the Start Scan.  This did operate my scanner (surprisingly) but upon completing the scanning process, I received a notice (in red lettering) next to Status – Scan Done"  and directly underneath it said, "Click the Save icon to save the scan on your computer".
Here's the problem, when I checked the preview for the document I scanned, it only scanned the top left portion of the page.  However, the larger problem, is there is NO SAVE ICON that shows up anywhere on the page or my iMac for that matter.
Here are the settings I used:
Document Type:  PDF
Color Preference:  Black
Paper size:  Letter
Resolution:  Text 300 dpi
Quality:  75  Medium
I would really appreciate some help here.  I basically can't use the full functionality of this printer I bought from HP, and there appears to be no rhyme or reason behind its disfunctionality.
Thanks!
Josef

Hi @SefNupe,
I see by your post that you are having issues scanning. I can help you with this.
The HP printer software update Version 2.16.1 driver won't have the same features as the Full Feature Software and Driver.
I would delete the printer from Printers and Scanners, add the full software driver back in again.
From the Printers and Scanners window, highlight the Laserjet on the left side of the window, on the right side of the screen it should show just the printer's name. Make sure it just lists the full name of the printer.
Here is a screen shot of adding the printer.
Try scanning using Printers and Scanners and the HP software.
Also check the  Check the Scan to Computer settings. A 'Connection Error' or 'No Computer Detected' Error Message Displays during Scanning.
Let me know how you make out.
Have a nice day!
Thank You.

  • How can I descreen and scale the target image size with a HP 8600 n911 premium?

I recently purchased an new HP 8600 n911 premium all-in-one, HP's top of the line all in one inkjet printer/scanner.  I cannot find any settings that permit me to descreen an image (such as one in a newspaper) or to adjust the size of the target image.  Is there additional software that will permit me to do this or am I missing something in the software provided by HP?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

You would need software form a third party to have this option.  The free software that comes with the 8600 doesn't have an option for that. Vuescan is the only software I could find that says it works with your pritner and has a descreen option.  You have to purchase it, but it will give you more advanced options than the software that came with the printer.

  • Scan To network folder - HP officejet pro 8600 cannot connect.

    Good morning,
For the last week or so, My officejet pro 8600 has been giving me the error
"Cannot connect to \\REDACTED\Public\Scans. Make sure the remote computer is turned on."
It will correct itself if we restart the computer/printer  in question. but this only solves the issue for approx 6-7 hours.
Things i have done to attempt to fix this.
Set a static ip address for both the computer in question and the printer itself.
updated the IP address using the HP tool.
    reinstalled the HP office program.
Set DMZ for both the computer and printer.
Set the public scans folder to zero security( so anyone connected to the network can gain unrestricted access)
re-setup the network feature on the printer itself.
however now i am at a loss.
    Any help would be great.

  • HP Print Software for MacBook Pro and Windows 7 gone awry on HP OfficeJet Pro 8600

Almost one year ago today I wrote a post about my first problem with HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 N911.  Today I write my last.
I have an HP OJP 8600, with option Tray 2 included, and auto feed included.  My system test computers are:
    1.  Apple MacBook Pro, OS X 9.5, HP software is the only 3rd party software.
    2.  HP Laptop, Windows 7.
The OJP wireless radio gave up, so I cannot run it wirelessly.  It is connected by ethernet to my router.  All five of my computers can use.  All of the functions of the printer are usable.  For example: it prints, it scans, it copies, it faxes.  All functions working.  My problem is with the HP software download to the Apple and to the HP Laptop.
I would like to be able to use all of the feature settings when I print.  But alas, I cannot.  Both the Apple and the HP Laptop have a similar appearing window that opens when you choose to print something.  In theory, you are supposed to be able to control a range of paper types and quality, print type and quality, and (in my case with the two trays) what tray to use to select the paper.
I regret neither of the computers perform these functions.  And all of the mistakes that I find on the Apple computer I find on the HP Laptop Windows 7 computer.
I don't have the time to test every combination.  But I think the table below will help you get an idea of what the problem is with the software that HP sends offshore for maintenance.
The results of the paper quality selection, the print quality selection, and the tray availability are as follows:
    PAPER              PRINT QUALITY                         TRAY AVAILABILITY
    Plain Paper
    Plain Paper  DRAFT/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray              Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2
Thick Paper  DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    HP Bright    DRAFT/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray              Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2
    InkJet
    Other        DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
HP Bright    DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    Specialty
    Other        DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    Card         DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    Brochure
HP Brochure  DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
    Other        DRAFT gray/NORMAL/BEST/MAX DPI gray         Auto/Tray 1/Tray 2 gray
In summary the new HP Print software for Apple and Windows 7 computers has identical programming mistakes on both operating systems.  Under no circumstances can I use the MAX DPI setting.
The user cannot use the features that are built in to the HP software because the paper selections override the locked tray, the print quality, and the unusually small list of HP selection of papers.
It is time to invoke my warrenty rights.  There are too many systemic problems with the software and the device.  I don't have any more time to act as an unpaid system test analyst for HP.
Who do I contact to use my warrenty before it runs out in a few weeks?

    Hi,
Those are not programming mistakes, but those are limitations of the product, please check the printer specifications below:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02858465&tmp_track_link=ot_faqs/top_issues/en_u...
As you may find under Paper-handling specifications > Paper tray capacities, Tray 2 only support Plain Paper.
Maximum DPI is only only supported on Photo Paper, therefore those limitations are applicable.. these limitations are also listed on the Printing Specifications section above, Maximum DPI is listed as 4800 by 1200 dpi:
Color print resolution: HP enhanced photo quality with Vivera inks (up to 4800 by 1200 dpi Optimized on HP Premium Plus photo papers with 1200 x 1200 input dpi)
As well that can be find listed within the Print photos on photo paper or the Print borderless documents sections, you may simply search for Maximum DPI within the user guide as a reference:
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03026243.pdf
Those are not an issues with the printer but those expected limitations fully meet the product specification.

  • OfficeJet Pron 8600 (n911g) not printing after firmware upate to CLP1CN1435AR

While re-enabling ePrint, printer self-updated to firmware CLP1CN1435AR.  Since that time, printing has been erratic. Most times I have to switch the printer off, then on again to get a document to print.
The behavior is the same on all computers in the house (Win 7 / Win 8).  Have tried resetting the printer settings, re-installing printer driver software, and disabling the PC firewall.  Prior the the "issue" starting, printer has had a long record of simple and reliable network printing.
At the time the printer fails to print, I can browse the printer Web page.  I am certain the physical ethernet connection is working.
There was also a spate of Windows updates at the same time.
I have not found any reports of similar problems - which puzzles me.
Anyone else with this problem?  Any suggestions?
    Config:
    OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus (n911g)
    Wired Network: Enabled
IPV4 printing - static IP addresss.  DNS and gateway both specfied.
    Wireless Network: Disabled
Basig Printer Drivers installed - latest version.
Printer Firewall: Off (tried turning on then off again - no diff)
Can I "Downgrade" the firmware to test if this resolves the problem?
    Thanks

Hi @MKortan , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're having copy issues.  I would like to try and help!
What paper size are you using?
I'd recommend performing a a power reset on the printer.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
Also, try plugging the printer power into a different wall outlet.

  • Hp Office Jet Pro 8600 A910, suddenly can't send fax. Reveiving faxes are ok.

We can't send any fax, but we can still receive a fax. This happened suddenly without any changes (on device or our telephone line) When sending a fax it dials and gives a busy tone. After that we get a error sheet pointing out Error 388, communication error. Following things we did:- Tried sending fax on our other phone line to rule out broken phone cable/connections.- Called to phone and from phone to fax which worked.- Printed out T90 testsheet. All tests passed.- Tried faxing with ECM off or in other words turned off the error connection mode.- Tried faxing with lower connection speed setting.- Checked other settings to see if there was anything wrong, but all okay.- Powered off, disconnected power cable for at least 15 seconds. Is the fax broken or anything else we can try?

Hi , I see you have been troubleshooting an issue with your Officejet Pro 8600 no longer able to send faxes, and I think I may have found some more information for you. Can you specify your your exact printer model for me? In your post title you say it is an 'Office Jet Pro 8600 A910' but and A910 is an Officejet 8500A. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? Seems like an odd question, but the printer make a copy? It could be an issue with the scanner mechanism.
Is the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or a power bar? We want to connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. See this document for more information about Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector (Note: This document is not limited to Laserjet printers.)
HP regularly releases firmware updates that may also correct the problem you are experiencing. You can click on this link to;Get Printer Updates for HP Officejet Pro 8600 (N911), Officejet 6600 (H711) and Officejet 6700 Premium (H711) e-All-in-One Printer SeriesGet Printer Updates for HP Officejet 6500A, and Officejet Pro 8500A e-All-in-One Printer Series Have you tried to run the Fax Test Report? It's usually located in the setup menu, under tools. The fax test report will let you know if it finds any problems and how to correct them. Once everything passes on the fax test report, you can Test Your HP Fax Machine with the HP Fax Test Service.  I reviewed the error code you provided from the Interpreting Error Codes in Fax Communication Error or Fax History Reports document.  Error 388: There is too much noise on the line for a valid connection between two fax machines to complete. The noise problem might go away over time. Retry the fax reception when telephone line conditions have improved. Call the telephone provider if line conditions fail to improve. Have you touched base with the phone company to make sure they have not changed anything on their end? Does this same error occur with every number you try to dial?  You could see if anything in Fax Sending Fails Intermittently or Fails for Only One Recipient is helpful as well.  Please let me know if these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!   Thanks,

  • Office Jet Pro 8600 N911a - drivers not displaying on hp support website

Hi there, I am trying to use the hp support pages to find the latest firmware and drivers for the HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a. The  hp driver website is not listing any. There is a whirly wheel that spins but never gives an answer which is a little frustrating. In the past it was a case of clicking on a hyperlink and choosing the download option required. Now the only software to download  interrogates the pc and printer to give suggestions but doesn't give any answers. Can someone please give me a link to the latest win 7 32 bit drivers for the HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer - N911a and firmware if there has been an update sinch the original pritner launched. I'll even throw in a pretty please and a smiley  thanks in advance john

The driver download pages for many HP products are currently down, but you can download the full featured Windows 7 x86 drivers for the Officejet Pro 8600 n911 from HP here: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL40120/bi-108858-3/OJ8600_1315.exe This may not be the latest version and for the firmware update you will need to wait for the HP site to get back up or you can do a firmware update from the front panel of the printer assuming the printer is connected by wired or wireless LAN (not USB).

  • Scanning Freezes after several pagees -

Our Officejet Pro 8600 frequently freezes while scanning using the auto document feeder..  Sometimes at page 2 - sometimes later.  I've upgraded and reinstalled drivers - as of yesterday and it just froze again this morning.  This has been a constant problem and just trying to reach out for help!  Any words of wisdom on how to fix this?
