8600 plus color problem

We had major jamming prior to Thanksgiving which could not be resolved so HP sent a rebuilt replacement minus the printhead and setup cartrigages.  The print color had not problems.  Per instructions I removed the printhead and put in the replacement machine.  The color was terrible so walked thought the head cleaning several times with support to the 3rd level which did no good.  Then they sent me another printhead and set up cartrigages which I installed.  I ran the print cleaning at the level one and then the color was ok for a print or two.  The problems is back.  I have now run the cleaner to the 3rd level.  I doubt it will correct the problems, but don't want to use all my toner in testing so will wait until I need to print color again.  So far the problems eliminated my ablity to print nice holiday mailers.  HP appears to now be a 3rd world printer company.  Terrible support from India.

Hello Dan42,
First of all, I would like to welcome you to the Forums!
I am sorry to read about your "print quality" issues that you are experiencing with your Officejet 8600 Plus, amongst the previous issues you have been through.
I realize you have done troubleshooting for this issue, no to avail.
At this point, I have looked further into the issue and have located a troubleshooting guide for you to try to just make sure all of the steps have been attempted.
Please follow this: Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support again to report the current issues and to see about further options for you.
I hope this helps, take care.

  • Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus Faxing Problem with 2-EXT port Connected

I have the Office Jet Pro 8600 Plus and when I fax, I must disconnect the phone line connected to the 2-EXT port on the back of the printer. This is very annoying, and I'm hoping someone here can provide a more convienent solution. I'm connected through a Cable Modem EMTA device for my voice service that is sharing the fax...which like I said, faxes fine, as long as the phone line is disconnected from the 2-EXT port first.
    Thx,

    Hi @powwow63 ,
I see that you are having issues with sending faxes, you have to disconnect the line in Ext 2 to be able to send a fax.
I can help you with this.
Using a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone service can cause faxing to fail because fax transmissions are sensitive to the timing of the signals used to transmit the fax. If using a VoIP digital line is necessary, changing the Fax Speed Adjustment setting to Slow might improve the ability to send a fax over a VoIP telephone line.
Make sure that you have a DSL filter installed. If you do not have a DSL filter, contact your DSL provider to find out where you can buy one.
I have provided a document with some steps for changing the fax setting on the printer.
    Cannot Send or Receive Faxes.
Go to Solution nine: Enable or disable error correction mode in this document.
Fax Sending Fails Intermittently or Fails for Only One Recipient.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus ADF Problems

I had the same problem and tried EVERYTHING... finally I pressed the lid down while sending the fax and it went through.  I put a couple cans of motor oil on the lid for pressure and it works.  That was a month ago.  It has been sending faxes fine with the oil cans on it.  Nothing else worked.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus Duplexing Problem

When I print a document that is one sided the printer stops and lets the ink dry and pulls it back in as if it were a double sided document. Is this normal for this printer. This is my first HP printer and it didn't do this on other printers that I had. The other printers sensed weather it was a single or double sided document and printed according to the document. Any help please.

    Hello soundfx411,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the paper being drawn back into the printer as if it was double sided print job.
This could be cause by a few different reasons.  First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Just so you know, HP products already have built in surge protector and if you have it connected to a power bar/strip, the unit will not get all the power it needs to function properly and this could cause other issues that you may not see on the surface such as Ink system failures or skewed or crooked printing or ever scan/copy issues.
So I can better assist you, please respond with which Operating System you are running.
Which Windows Operating System am I running?
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Write me back when you have time and I will be happy to explore other options if needed.

  • Officejet pro 8600 plus e-all-in-one color managment problem.

please help, I'm a photographer and I own officejet pro 8600 plus e-all-in-one printer. I want to print my photos using this printer, but it never print them right, so I bought Colormunki photo to calibrate my monitor and my printer and match them together. The problem is I can't control the printer color management  !!! I want to disable it, so I can use the printer profile in Photoshop or other applications to get the right prints. my prints are darker when I set the color management to be handled by the application, or I make the printer handle it but I will end up with wrong colors. I really really need to change the profile of the printer. how ?????? otherwise I really have no use of it in my work.

    Jassim,
Kudos to you for figuring out how to better control the outcome for what you require.
I have learned something new today.  Smiling!
Did you create the new profile manually or add it in from a previously saved setting?  Filename / filetype?
It has been a while since I used Photoshop.  I am thinking I may take another look at my old favorite.

  • Problems with my printer HP Officejet pro 8600 Plus + Yosemite

Hi got problems with my printer HP Officejet pro 8600 Plus till I installed Yosemite it is not recognized so what can I do now.. No new drivers found by HP

    Thanks for this AnnRT!
I've spent the best part of a day trying to figure this out. Everything was fine and then one day nothing worked! I have narrowed the issue down to Bonjour via WiFi as everything worked fine via USB, and via IP over WiFi.
I've now set a static IP for the printer and things seem to be working fine again
    Thanks!

  • Hp Officejet Pro 8600 Plus network printing problems

I hard wired my Hp Officejet Pro 8600 plus with an ethernet cable to my router to enable other computers on my network to print to my printer.  Several problems have resulted because of this:
    1. I cannot find my printer in the Device Manager: it shows as an "unknown device"
    2. Sometimes pdf files will print and sometimes they will not. Word and Excel files sometimes print, and sometimes don't.
    3. Sometimes documents will spool, but then I get the following message: "Unable to communicate with printer." Then it asks me to make sure all cables are connected and power is on, which is the case.
I have tried all kinds of troubleshooting with information found in Hp forum and on Hp website. Finally, using the HP Print and Scan doctor, I deleted and reinstalled the printer and updated the Full software and drivers. Then I got a message saying "the printer is on your network, but the network software is unable to find it using the typical network discovery method. You can install the printer and operate it normally over the network using the IP address of your printer." I inserted the IP address and it took me through various steps to final installation.  I typed a short message into a new document on Microsoft Word and it printed, Then I tried to print some information from the HP website, but this did not print; it didn't even spool.
My router is not detecting the printer on the network either, the light on the port bearing the network cable connected directly to the printer has never been shown to be on, like the other lights. I have been struggling with this for the last several months.
I have an Hp computer, running on Windows 7 Ultimate (64bit). I prefer to use my printer over a network ethernet cable instead of wireless.  Please help!

I believe this is the cause of your problem.  First, try another known working port in the router.  Next, change the Ethernet cable with a known good cable.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus "unspecified printer problem"

I just set up my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One.  The set-up seemed to go okay, but when I go to the "devices" tab for "HP Connected" it has a yellow yield sign and says that I have a problem with my printer.  When I click on the yield sign symbol, the box says that "An unspecified problem was reported. Please check your printer."   When I check the printer pannel, there are no problems reported.  The machine seems to print okay, but I'd like to clear up this error that is shown.  Any ideas?
Also, I've already done the restart and sign-off/sign-in stuff, so we can move on to second-order trouble shooting.  Thanks.

    HELP!
I am having exactly the same problem. I am simply swapping out an existing Deskjet 3512 that worked perfectly at all levels, so i KNOW i dont have router/port/network issues. eprint was and is flawless. I just plugged it back in to check and it still works just fine with eprint.
Using my new Pro8600, I send emails to my eprint address and they seem to go...and then nothing. they just don't print.
I get the"Officejet Pro 8600 Plus "unspecified printer problem"" message but my front panel reports no issues.
I'm a step away from taking this back and buying an Epson.
My experience with their support has bee stellar at a commercial printer level.
This seems to be a very common problem and I just dont have hours to monkey around with something that should work out of the box.
    any help will be appreciated.

Touch the front panel and use the back arrow if needed to get to the home screen.  Next touch the four ink droplets at the top right of the screen, then touch "Print Report".    Items 12-14 will be the total pages, color pages and borderless pages printed.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One - terrible print & scan options

I just purchased an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One an the print options look like they were written by someone from the 1990s.  There are no options for lower resolution - only draft, normal, best and no option for black and white - other than grayscale.  The print options box is the default box that was originally develped in the 1990s - no kidding.  I also tried scanning some items and the box to see the scan is about 5" x 5" and there is absolutely no way possible to see what was scanned.  I originally loaded the software using the disk provided witih the printer, but then I went on line and downloaded the "Full" version - which loaded exactly what was on the disk.  I can not believe HP is even selling this thing with these types of drivers.  I loaded the drivers onto my HP Desktop, running Windows 7 home, 64 bit and my HP laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.  Both HP computers are Intel I7 Quad core computers w/ 9 & 12 Gb of RAM respectively.
What gives?  Do I need to return this thing because it certainly does not work properly and is not up to the HP standard we expect - especially for the $300 it costs to buy the thing.  I bought this all in one because HP refuses to update the drivers of my older HP scanner to support Windows 7.  That scanner showed the preview with a full screen, allowed me to change resolutions of scans, colors, etc.
Has anyone else experienced this type of garbage?

I agree the HP customer services and product services suck. I have an Officejet Pro 8500 and consistently had problems.
I think I'll change to a Cannon printer or another company. It is apparent that HP does not care.

I have an HP Office Jet Pro 8600 plus and I only need it to print out word documents and do not need color. For some reason the printer requires me to refill my yellow ink in order for me to print a document in greyscale. How can I change the settings so this doesn't occur?

  • OFFICEJET PRO 8600 PLUS HAS POOR QUALITY, BLACK TEXT HAS HORIZONTAL LINES & FADING

I have a Officejet Pro 8600 Plus which is a few months old. It gets light use although I'm a graphic designer working from home.
The problem just started with a very poor print quality.  The black text fades in and out, has horizontal lines through it.  The color text also has horizontal print qualities.
I replaced all of the color ink cartridges, the black is mostly full.
I have repeatedly run the Align Printhead and Clean Printhead functions on the printer with no improvement.
What can I do at this point?  I need the printer function very soon.
    I'm on a Mac OS 10.7.5

    Hello Brembo50,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Regarding the Officejet pro 8600 not printing a clean crisp black text, the steps you have done are very good attempts to resolve.
When you printed the cleaning, did the characters print clean and crisp? It should look like this:
Please excuse the blurry image and colors should be on the bottom of the page, how ever the above should give you an idea of what it should look like.
Performing the steps in this HP document: Fixing Ink Streaks, Faded Prints, and Other Common Print Quality Problems should help. It will have you doing steps you have done already, I recommend doing the steps but you could skip the steps you have done already.

  • Colormanagment Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

I am a amature Photographer and for me it's important that the colors of my prints are accurate.
I recently bought a colormunki Photo to set up my monitor and printer.
    I'm using a Imac with OSX 10.9.
The problem is that i can't find the colormanagement of my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.
The prints are far to dark. I'm supposed to change the colormanagment option from automatic to off, but i can't find this setting.
I'm running the latest driver for the printer and i'm using Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CS6.
What am i doing wrong, or ... can't I change te colormanagement of this printer ?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus Scanner Software

    Hi,
I'm a big fan of HP products.  My last several printers, scanners and computers have all been HP.
I recently purchased the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus to replace an older machine with similar capabilities (ADF, duplex printing, etc).  The previous machine was also an HP printer.
The problem that I'm having is that the software seems to  have been downgraded.  The software on my previous machine had the ability to automatically parse pictures laid on the flatbed scanner into individual JPGs.  With the software on this machine, it seems that I need to manually crop each image.  The options for optimizing each image, by removing scratches, automatically adjusting color, sharpening, etc. are all gone.
I really miss these features.  I did find that I had been using a 'Basic' version of the software.  I installed the full version and found it slightly different, but it still lacks the automatic image selection and image tweaks that I made such heavy use of.
Is there any way to get these options back?
    Thank you,
    --MrXmas
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    NeonSkeleton,
That is unfortunate.  It's a **bleep** nice machine except that the software is really a step backwards.
Is there any way to use the older software from another HP device?  The standard microsoft scanner drivers don't do anything towards my need.  The network connection seems to be a stumbling block for most of what's out there.  I'd be happy to hard-wire via USB if that could get me the software upgrade (the speed over USB is a considerable improvement as well).
If it isn't possible to use another HP driver, do you have any recommendations for 3rd party drivers?
    Thanks for your help,
    Jim
