865 beta bios with raid 1

you will have to wait for joshin who i gave 875 bios to to put it on his server
but there should be a link here soon thanks to him
afraid i know nothing else re whats fixed in it
just resoponding to those who moaned in the beta 875 thread

I do like to thanks the programming team  of this Bios .
I have noticed  from the first minute , after installing it  , all the necessary voltage corrections , that this Bios includes  , and I totally agree with them .
At my board with 533 Bus based CPU chip , and by working as suggested at the turbo mode , the  AGP bus it is locked . ( In the 3Dmark 2003  ,got lower by a little  marks) .
I would suggest , one also voltage correction on the CPU core voltage , like setting it at 1.58 or 1.60 by default , any way  this is not a critical issue , as the CPU it is forgiving in the voltage hovering , but the rest sub system is not .
As  bug report , I have to say that the clock generator , in the Slow setting , clocks the CPU even higher than the 1.3 and 1.4 Ver bios ,   from 135.5  the new forced bus is like 138 Mhz .
But if the setting Turbo is set  , as the team suggests , everything is normal , like 135.5 Mhz .
With locked AGP , and the rest fixes .
In my system after of many hours testing , I found that this Bios works fantastic , and  there is Zero instability issues  . :D
I do not know if this is the right place to report this , but I have one small issue , with the on board NIC , my report  haves nothing to do with this Bios release .
So , here is the story  ,    in my setup  I have connected the NIC  with one Compex switching Hub  ,  when I power down my system  , the NIC it does not power down completely ,  and the result is that  the  Led  Port indicator  on the Hub,  indicates that the computer is On , or that the connection is active .
To be honest , the  NIC it does power down , but one second later , after the total system  shut down  procedure,  the NIC power up it self  , indicating 100Mbits connection  ..
The on board NIC Led indicator  becomes active,  and accordingly my Switching Hub , indicates  a live connection at 100 Mbits .
Is this normal ?? I guess, is not .  ?(
Is there any tip that I should know , if there is not one , I would like to add this in my wish list , of what it would  be nice to be included in the next official or Beta Bios update .
I would like to say one Big Thanks to the MSI programming Team , I know that they  hiding  around this forum , thanks again people .
I wish you all the best , and ask some extra money for MSI for your overtimes too , you worth it .  8)

  • Beta BIOS and RAID 0 on 875P

I have problems with the maxtor HDs and the infamous B3P chip, but i can't get an RMA. I test with the beta bios 1.9B3 but the problem persist, neither the ICH5R or the Promise pass to the second part of windows XP install.
Is a must for MSI to get solved this problem ASAP, if possible to update the promise BIOS, may be will be an option for all with this problem.
Please MSI get this problem solved  :O

What other BIOS versions have you tried? I could not get RAID to work with 1.8b. BIOS 1.7 worked perfectly with my ICH5R RAID 0 and the Promise ATA-133.

  • Requesting Z68A-G45 B3 Beta Bios

Is there any latest beta bios for this mainboard that up the core voltage limit? I found latest beta bios with 1.50v voltage limit but it is for G3 model only. I can't get stable 4.5-4.6ghz oc with 1.35v limit.

You probably chose the wrong board if you had Overclocking intentions.
The budget orientated boards normally are more limited in terms of their capabilities.
Suggest you contact MSI and ask them if it is even possible to have this incorporated into the BIOS for this board  >>How to contact MSI.<<

In my experience, for a 2700k, UEFI/BIOS v1.H proved to be the very best one.
I would go ahead and use what P D says there, he did a lot of testing on his many builds the past few years and knows more about it that most other people.
What I had in my last reply was just the basic required info you needed to answer question about 2700K support after going through 1/2 dozen lists needed to find my info.

  • Need New Bios with New ME 8.1.40.1416

May I request a bios to be made up for use with the forum flasher?
    M77 MPower
    Currently running bios 17.10
But you could package the new ME firmware, 8.1.40.1416(believe its correct), in with the newer Beta bios.

I did download the bios on the forum here equivalent to 17.10 on MSI site most likely  and it had the newest ME firmware with it see below
flashed with the forum flash tool and it shows now newest ME at  8.1.40.1416 in my cmos/bios now
    I did bios A and bios B
then did from within windows the ME 9.0.0.1310 driver instal package
this forum is prolly better place to get the bios as you people do the ME for sure instead of MSI downloads
    Should be good to go?

  • Z68A-GD80(G3) Can no longer read external hd dock after flashing beta bios

I flashed E7672IMS.J31 Beta Bios because I was on a very old bios that was not compatible with my GTX 970 card I just bought.  Flashing the bios fixed my 970 compatibility but in the process made it so my 2 external hd docks no longer worked (at this time on windows 7).  self powered usb harddrives still worked though.  At this time my sata mode was IDE which I thought might have had to do with it since it doesnt have hotswap. I assumed it was an issue with some drivers I installed after flashing the beta bios and I was due for upgrading/reformatting anyways so I enabled AHCI and hot swap then did a clean install of windows 8.1.  The external hard drives still don't read!!   I've used multiple different hard drives and different usb ports including usb 2.0.  The docks are usb 3.0 and I use them daily to edit photos from my work.  Any ideas of things I could try?
    My pc:
    intel 2500k
    16gb Corsair vengeance ram
    MSI 970 GTX GPU
    Corsair 750w power supply
    Z68A-GD80(G3) motherboard
    E7672IMS.J31 Beta Bios

Could the issue be that I didn't download the Intel Management Driver after installing the beta bios I flashed?  Maybe I could try that first, which one from this list do I use with my pc setup?
    thanks for the help!

  • Windows XP 64 bit pro clean install with RAID

    Can anyone help out???
I recently purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad W700 with the raid system (raid1) it had Vista Business pre installed but I wasn't impressed so I've cleared VB out and tried to install XP 64 pro  I have followed the guide I found on this site http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=188992
which was very informative but didnt seem to include any details on a raid installation. If I change my BIOS Serial ata (sata) to compatibility I can install win xp and get it running but no raid!! if I try to install the Intel chipset driver it reports it cannot install!! If I set the Bios Serial ATA to RAID the setup goes so far through then I get the BSOD
I seems to me I need some raid drivers but have no way of installing them during setup (I dont have the drivers anyway!!)
Sooooo...........can anyone out there point me in the right direction for a clean xp pro install with raid??  theres a couple of beers in it!!
    Lenovo thinkpad W700, Q9000 2.00GHz Quad Core 2x 160gb hdd raid1, 4gb ram, 1gb nvidia graphics FX3700m Fingerprint reader, Graphics tablet (digitiser?)
    Windows 7 Professional 64bit RAID 1

I believe you need to install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver for Windows XP, Vista (32bit) - ThinkPad. Installation instructions are on the same site. If you don't have a floppy you can streamline them onto an install disk.
Other drivers can be found here.

  • Interesting problem with RAID, Windows 2008 server, and Ubuntu

sooooo, i got the system working and linux loved it.  just adored it.
however, Windows did not.  Windwos 2008 server hard locks from time to time.  i fianlly figured out that it had to do with the RAID 0 i was running, that didn't really succeed.
However, when i rebuilt the RAID and everything on it, it refuses to recognize the disk, sayign that windwos cannot determine if this drive has a valid system volume on it.
Ubuntu 9.04 server, however, just took it and made it work great.
I enabled the PCI Bus SATA to be Master in the BIOS, and then Windows Server 2008 said that it could not determine if the drive was bootable.  Then i went back and redid the raid, and it did the original error.
I inserted a windows xp disk, destroyed the RAID, and then installed the software on a NEW disk.   While it installed fine, it gave me an IRQL_not_less_than_or_equal error.  It boots in safe mode, but no where else.  I tried installing the NVRAID and MCP55 drivers in safemode and what not, but still, it refused to cooperate.  I went back to ubuntu, this time the desktop/workstation versions, and i am doing an alternate install with RAID...much to my disappointment becuase now i will have to use VirtualBox to isntall windows...and if that fails, i'll be really pissed.
    My settings are as follows:
    SATA Controller 0-5 enabled
    NVRAID- enabled
PCI BUS SATA- Option ROM Enabled, Master Enabled, and 0040h latency
    MAC LAN- same as above
MAC LAN1- has master disabled, but the other stuff is the same
Serial port A is on AUTO, B is disabled, and floppy is disabled.
    Option Rom is PFA relocation.
Also, my AEC A6880 is giving me a ROM expansion error, even though, in both OSes it can be seen....usualy.  I just want to fix it
lastly, my LSI PCI-E scsi adapter is not being seen at ALL.
    thanks guys.

  • Can't install Win7 with Raid 0 on a K9A2 CF

    Motherboard:    MSI K9A2 CF
    DDR:            8GB (4*2GB)
    Proc:      AMD Athlon 620
    HDD's:      2*Hitachi 640GB (same drive models)
So the problem i'm having is that i can't get Windows7 to get installed in raid 0. I bought this set of hardware to do some experimenting with small business server 2008. I've installed SBS2008 in Raid 1, and seemed to work (but i've never crashed a disk to test it). The tests went fine, and since a month or two this PC/Server is doing nothing.
Now i've been trying to get Windows7 installed but can't get it going with a Raid 0 setting (that's why i'm doubting if the RAID 1 with sbs was working correctly).
First problem i'd run into was that my DVD wasn't accepted (missing device driver). I've created a bootable USB disk and seem to work.
The problem starts when i should select the disk.
First, i've setup the following in the RAID-Bios:
I've done it with 1 array, or with 2 array's it doesn't change anything.
In the normal bios (updated last night to the latest version, which actually slows the systems down during the install). I've selected RAID in this screen
    RAID (i've selected RAID)
When i get the option to select a drive, it doesn't display any drives so I select the option to add a driver.
These are the drivers i've downloaded:
But when selecting these drivers I've get a negative response
(with or without "Hide drivers that are not compatible......"
When i download other drivers (I actually tried them all) i get some response:
But when i select this driver, it takes several minutes to proces:
    But it comes back blank:
When i select in the bios other options (like IDE)
It comes default with a disk:
But this is half of the array (1 drive). When i try to partition it, it fails. So it isn't accessible.
Last thing: i've tested with all 3 available Bios options (IDE, RAID and AHCI) in combination with all (Win7, Vista and WinXP) drivers. But there are no differences.
I understand i made a long post, but normally i just figure it out myself with researching on the web. I have tried everything i can think of. But it seems that:
    1. I made an error configuring the raid-arrays (with one big array, the results are the same).
    2. I made an error in the bios? (setting should be raid, other settings i should think of?)
    3. I'm working with the wrong drivers? I think i'm doing something wrong driver related but can't pin the problem.
    4. Or... ?
I'm open to suggestions,  i've run out of option. :(
    Thank you.

Great link, seems to work. So after trying everything it was just a simple driver error.
I've tried the drivers from 1337 but they didn't work. But the chinese drivers did work:
    http://www.rayfile.com/files/edf377e1-ec6f-11de-aad5-0014221b798a/
I don't know how or what. But the RAID console seemed to get 2 disks (2 raid arrays) and installed and formatted correctly from there on.
Installed Win7, booted and all the hardware was accepted.
If anyone has a line to MSI or someone from MSI is reading this: If needed i'm willing to run some kind of debugger if it helps. But otherwise I would suggest checking the drivers offered on the website because the drivers on the MSI website are faulty for some of your users. On the K9A2 they will not work with RAID with Windows 7 64-bit (the official drivers I mean).
Bas to answer your question: I have no particular interest in running a 64-bit operating system. But when it failed to work it became a challenge to get it working. I could have switched to 32bit immediatly but I don't like to give up the first moment something doesn't go as planned, and in the end I had so much time invested I just wanted it to work under 64bit .
Frederik, thanks again for the link, really helpfull. Thank you all for helping and  giving suggestions.

  • Help thinking buying a W530 with RAID hardware or software

I'm thinking to buy a W530 with RAID. I have no experience with RAID and never thought that RAID is possible in a labtop.
I have read that RAID comes in types of implementation, software or with a hardware controller. In this forum I read that in the W530 service manual the RAID controller has been disappeared from the motherboard (I have not checked by myself).
Does anyone know if RAID is still implemented by a hardware and not by software.
    Frank

From the forums and the rep I spoke with, RAID is implemented in the hardware.  You will not be able to enable RAID later on if you did not order it like that from the factory.
You would probably be better off going SSD in the primary and a larger capacity HDD in the ultrabay.  You'll have better speed, more reliability, and lower power consumption in general compared to 2 HDD in RAID 0.

  • Where can I download a beta bios?

I have searched the web for hours and I cant seem to find a Beta bios for my 865G-PLS MB, I am looking for a bios that has fixed the X800 videocard problem and one that allows the CPU core voltage to be adjusted.
          Thanks for the help.

Thanks Del and Danny,  the only issue I have atm is the fact I bought a prescott =P,  really though I installed an X800 Pro and I have problems with lock ups due to the X800 bios isue and I really dont want to use the 3.7 bios because I am unable to change the core voltage, thus I cant overclock and hit 3.7 Ghz anymore.
I am going to go ahead and use the 3.7 and see if it clears up the issue I am having and go from there, but going from 3.7Ghz back down to 3.4Ghz is gong to cause me great pain hehe.

  • P965 won't boot DVD from Intel SATA with RAID enabled

    System specs
    1 x MSI P965 Platinum
    1 x Intel Core 2 Duo 6420
    2 x 1GiB Geil PC6400 DDR2/800
    2 x 320G Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
    1 x Pioneer 212 SATA CD/DVD Writer
Configuration has both hdd's in RAID mode (on the ICH8 SATA connectors), with RAID volumes setup and functional.
My DVD drive is plugged into the SATA-5 connector (ICH8).
I have disabled the JMicron sata/ide (since I don't want to use it).
BIOS recognises the SATA DVD drive in the POST as an ATAPI CDROM. And an existing windows installation recognises the DVD drive.
The problem is that I cannot boot from the DVD drive. I have even tried the boot menu directly (F11) - there is a momentary flicker on the DVD drive, but after a while, booting continues from the HDD anyway.
Please help, I'm trying to install XP onto a different partition, and if I cannot boot from the optical drive, it may present some difficulties ;-)
Has anyone else had a similar issue? Or can offer any help on tuning the BIOS settings?
    Regards
    The Wibbler

    Maesus
In my first post, I said that the DVD is plugged into the SATA-5 connector (on the ICH8), the JMicron sata connector is not used.
I also said that my configuration has 2x 320G drives configured as a RAID array (on SATA-0,SATA-1 if that matters), hence BIOS is set to "RAID" mode - if it were IDE or AHCI I would suspect my RAID array would not function (haven't tested this, but it seems logical).
If the system boots from HDD, the DVD drive (on SATA-5) is fully functional from Windows XP, just that the BIOS won't boot from the DVD drive on the ICH8.
    Jack the Newbie
I have tried the JMicron SATA connector, but WinXP setup disk causes BSOD if the drive is configured as IDE in BIOS. And after some more hair pulling I figured out that if I slipstream the JMicron RAID drivers and configure the JMicron as RAID, then WinXP setup accesses the DVD correctly. Seems like a lot of hoops to be jumping through  :(
