[865PE/G Neo2 Series] How to correct "Parallel port driver service failed to start"?

I recently disabled the parallel port in the BIOS (I wasn't using it anyway) to try and free up an IRQ or some system resources, when I installed a firewire controller (which I wanted to have its own IRQ if possible). Then I periodically started getting this error "The Parallel port driver service failed to start due to the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it." I Googled this, but any info I found either was not applicable or was in incomprehensible techspeak. I couldn't figure out how to prevent the error from occurring, so for the time being I re-enabled the parallel port in the BIOS--disabling it didn't free up any IRQ's anyway. I would like to know more about this, however. Is there a proper way to go about disabling the parallel port so that this error does not occur?
Should it be done before installing Windows? What are the advantages and disadvantages of disabling the parallel port, other than freeing up IRQ's (as I said, it didn't--unless this also happens only upon Windows install?). Gurus, please respond!

That was the first thing I tried. There is nothing called "parallel port service", nor is there any mention of the parallel port in any of the services listed. I don't know if it is even using any system resources, anyway. The ECP Printer Port always had a box checked that said "never use an interrupt" anyway. It has no conflicts or sharing. Maybe I should leave it alone. It's just that people always mention disabling it in order to free resources.

And I know it is caused by the gfx card or its drivers because I didnt have any stuttering with the X800XT PE. Same thing in Colin McRae04 and 05. And 99% of teh answers I got to the question "what should I do" in several hardware forums were "disable Fastwrites in your mobo BIOS".
Maybe none of them had an MSI board.

[865PE/G Neo2 Series] Just got my first SATA drive.. need help booting up.. :(

I just got my very first SATA drive. it's a Hitachi 160GB 7k250!
anyway, I wanted to set this new drive (partion 1 to be exact) as my PRIMARY or what I like to call SYSTEM drive.. this is where i store only my windows core files and program files..
My previous setup is that I have 2 PATA drives (Primary master and Secondary Master) and 2 DVD drives (Primary Slave and Secondary Slave)..
Now with the introduction of this new SATA drive, well, i didnt know what to do..
I got as far as setting my BIOS to: (forgive me if the following isnt exact terms as in the bios)
ATA = PATA Channel only
keep SATA = YES
(and some settings i can't remember)
I was able to boot my computer up with the SATA HD partitions set at the next available drive letters.
Now here's the problem.. I currently have an Image of my C: (system) created with Acronis TrueImage 8, and i restored that to my SATA drive's FIRST partition...
The first partition is also formatted with the same file system NTFS and is set to primary..
From here, i honestly dont know what to do..
ofcourse I will have to set bios to boot the SATA drive first...
Also, since the System image (windows XP) is that of DRIVE C: I have to somehow set the SATA drive to be HD0 (first channel)... playing around in my bios I have accomplised to have set my SATA drive as IDE channel 1 = Primary.. funny thing is the rest of the drives moved down starting at IDE Channel 3 and 4..
Still i went on to boot up.. but i was unsuccessfull. I get a very quick blue screen (about 50 miliseconds) and then my computer shuts off and reboots..
I played around witht he settings and tried many things.. still get the quick BSOD and then reboot problem
GUys? What am i missing here?
I didnt know this SATA drive was gona get complicated.. i thought i'd be up and running by now.. :( ..
Please lend me some of your knowledge peoplez.. :D

I have followed your instructions to the dot.. now im getting as far as the WindowsXP Boot Screen... after an unusually long loading time, i get that BSOD flash which i really cant make out since the darn thing reboots right away.. :(

(changing this to SATA, thinking you were mistaken since am booting sata up.. but what do i know ei?)

PATA Keep enabled - yes
PATA channel selection - both
same results... a long boot screen loading time.. then a quick BSOD..
I alsto tried booting up in safemode.. the loading stops at agp440.sys and reboots after a long pause at that part.
So now I switched back to your recommended settings, but this time setting my old hard drive to boot (PATA).
To my surprise im back to where i started (despite maintaining your suggested settings) thus i am replying to this post again..
also, i noticed that with your suggested settings, my SATA drive is on IDE channel 1.. and the rest on IDE channel 3 and 4.. but here in windows my old hard drive is still drive C:.. I was expecting my SATA drive to be Drive C this time.. could this be the problem here?
I mean the windows Image I restored is setup to work on drive C (first drive), although I removed all the drive, could it be that my SATA drive is still not on drive C?

Satellite A200: How connect a parallel port printer?

Probably a very silly question, but would like to connect A200 series laptop to a parallel port printer that does not have a USB port... what is the best option?

When I download itunes, it says that Ipod Service failed to start. I checked the services under task manager and when I try to start it, it says access denied. How to I get access and for the ipod service to start and run?

Please help. My ipod classic could not be recognised by itunes when I connect my ipod to PC. Previously it has been recognised before I updated. This was a while ago now and so I removed all apple files and re installed the latest itunes but am having the same problem.

Some anti-virus programs (e.g., McAfee) have this rule that can be invoked under the "maximum protection" settings: PREVENT PROGRAMS REGISTERING AS A SERVICE. If that rule is set to BLOCK, then any attempt to install or upgrade iTunes will fail with an "iPod service failed to start" message.

Note that the log says "Common Maximum Protection: Prevent programs registering as a service". Recently, I am learning the JDeveloper BPEL Designer(version 10.1.2.0), I had finished my first BPEL process CreditFlow flowing the quickstart guider.
Now I wonder how to deploy my own web services to the Start BPEL PM Server? I mean I don't want to invoke the CreditRatingService as I did flowing the quickstart guider, but to invoke my own web servcies. Now I had made some web services with eclipse and deployed them to the tomcat5.0. but how can I invoke these my own web services just like I invoked the CreditRatingService in the JDeveloper BPEL Designer?

Copy the WSDL file from your Tomcat server onto your development machine. Add them to your project in JDeveloper. Then add a partnerlink and specify the WSDL location. Then add you role, variables and compile!

Itunes won't install correctly in PC...Apple Mobile Device Service failed to start

I have recently been getting messages that ITunes was installed incorrectly. I've followed all the recommend procedures and it still does not work. I'm also getting a message that the Apple Mobile Device Service failed to start. Also, when I plug in my Iphone to the computer, it downloaded the correct device driver but failed to recognize the Iphone so that I cannot transfer my photos to the PC. Do you have any advice?

The error message I'm getting is #7, Windows #193. I have 64bit.

[865PE/G Neo2 Series] Memory timings and power settings anyone?

I'm not very good with computers, so I've just played around with the timings on my memory, but have not found one stable setting as of yet.
The memory is brand new and I've tested it for errors on my brothers computer and there's nothing wrong there.
Intensive harddrive usage, dvd playing and intense downloading while listening to music are sure ways to crash my system. "..........Not less or equal" is the most common error message, but there are
many many more.
Oh, maybe I should point out that overheating's not an issue, cause I've good fans and run my computer without sidepanels.
I also like to say that I have the first generation of p4 with ht and 533fsb.
I'm sure there's something I forgot to mention but here below I'll paste the system summary that Sandra gave me.
Would be forever grateful if someone could help me out with the memory timings and power settings for my board. Setting it to "auto by spd" gives me a very unstable system, so no avail there.
I'm running the mem at 2.70 and sometimes at 2.65, since these two settings seem to be the ones with least crashes.

Danny: 1. Yes, I've put my memory in my brothers computer, and ran memtest there, and it came out ok, but on mine it crashes almost instantly.
2. Yea, I have 2 fans blowing into the case and one out, so airflow is good, cpu is also cool and seems to be happy ;-)

i have big problem with my MS-6728 (865PE Neo2-S) and Geforce 4 Ti 4200.
After installing Intel inf update for chipset my Windows XP Pro SP1 stop booting and freeze (if i use Detonator 61 or higher) or just use standart VGA driver (if i use Detonator version 41).
If i remove Intel chipset (i tried all versions) - video is working good

Writing a series of codes to parallel port LPT1

Currently i'm using Labview version 5 to write a program which sets the individual pins on my LPT1, which i'm sucessful in. However, I notice that after writing an ascii to Serial Port Write.vi, it still doesnt sets the parallel port. It is only when i include close serial driver.vi after writing the string then the respective output is set.
In my application, i need to send many ascii within a very short time frame, currently, using the above method, for 40 ascii characters that i write into the parallel port, it took the computer about 2 seconds to finish (which is too slow). How do i improve the performance of my application?

I tried using Out Port.vi but when i key in 378 to the register address and key in the number for the value control and run the vi just for testing purposes, it gives a dialog "Capability not supported. VI 'Out Port.vi' was stopped at Code Interface Node 0x1BC of subVI 'Out Port.vi' . I do not have the advance analysis package and i wonder if it's that is the root of the problem for the mentioned, or have i misintepreted 0x378.

However Java wasn't built to do these kinds of operations, so it may well be that the API does not provide the functionality you need. In that case you may need a native library to do the work for you, which can make things a lot more difficult.

I have found at some website, there are a software can generate corresponding signal (I suppose that is digital line) to driver a relay board, the relay board is 8 channels. which out put is pin 2, pin3, pin 4, pin5, pin 6, pin7, pin8 and pin 9 of parallel port to control it . it is well control, how can it do ? and I want to simulate it at LV with parallel port too , how can it achieve ? which command, or a simple sample which you provide will be appreciated.

How to enable parallel port DC5800

This PC has header pins on the motherboard for a parallel port and I have connected a header cable but linux does not recognise that the computer has any parallel port hardware. There also seems to be no way to enable or disable the parallel port in the BIOS although it does have a setting for the printer port mode. The parallel support is described as "optional" on this PC, is it possible that the port cannot be enabled on this model?
Additional: I just installed Windows and it's the same. It really seems like the parallel port is disabled at BIOS level and cannot be activated.
