[865PE/G Neo2 Series] Why do I have a big ol' amount of space reserved for an MFT on my SATA drive?

The hard drive is on the promise controller and for some reason it has a large amount of space used for the MFT when even my system drive and my other storage drive, both located on the INTEL SATA ports do not have this space set aside.

how do you figure out that? How large amount is that?

Apple does not offer custom colors. I'd suggest you get a skin for your iPod. Those are available in hundreds of colors and patterns and since they're not permanent, they don't affect the iPod's warranty and you can change if you ever get tired of the skin you chose.

Why do I have to delete everything to make 3.8GB for this update?

It downloads the compressed image, then it needs to uncompress it. The compressed image is large uncompressed it is even larger.
You need much less space if you use iTunes on your personal computer to do the install.

  • Why do I have a big Q on the upper left of my screen when i go into a text?

This is driving me crazy.. Why do I have a big Q on the upper left of my screen when i go into a text message? How do I get it off? Someone sent me a picture and I noticed it was on there also?

ME TOOO!! omg it's so annoying. I have only had this happen with an iphone 4, and i noticed it started happening after I did a text msg. usually it's just a big Capital "Q", in a similar position as it would be on the keyboard. but it stays on the screen. Now it also stays there even when i go to my home page or any other screen for that matter. I recently had my phone swapped out because my home button had worn out (uh oh....less than 6 mo old too!) but even on the new phone it's doing the "Q" thing too.
mine only goes away when i reboot. grrrrr. glad im not the only one tho.

  • [865PE/G Neo2 Series] DDR Memory with 865PE Neo2-PFS Platinum

SYSTEM SPEC: 400w PSU, Pentium 4 3.2ghz 800mhz FSB (HT), Matrox Parhelia 128 8x AGP card, MSI Neo2 PFS Platinum motherboard.
Hi there. Im looking for some serious help with my computer. I have a MSI 865PE Neo2-PFS Platinum mobo and have been using 512mb DDR RAM with it- the ram is PC2700 (333mhz), non-ECC, ubuffered, non-parity, 184 pin. Now, I have just purchased a new DIMM. This one is
    1gb PC3200 (400mhz), non-ECC, Unbuffered, non-parity, HIGH DENSITY- DUAL IN LINE, 128 x 64, 184 pin
It doesnt work and my system refuses to boot up. I checked out the specs of the 865PE Neo2-PFS Platinum, and it says in the table that you can only use 400mhz DDR RAM with an 800mhz FSB processor (which I have). It says it supports 400mhz RAM, "DUAL CHANNEL", non-ECC, unbuffered memory, but no mention of "HIGH DENSITY" or "DUAL IN LINE". Is there a difference between "DUAL CHANNEL" and "DUAL IN-LINE". Also, does anyone know what the difference is between 128 x 4 and 128 x 64, they are both 1gb? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! I have seen some RAM from the same dealer which is not "HIGH DENSITY" and has the 128 x 4 configuration, and is still a 1gb module. Is that safe to buy? What RAM do I need (in detail) for my motherboard. Thanks!

Always useful with a complete systemspec.including PSU and biosversion, so please make one.
Can´t see anything wrong with the basic RAM specification - it also matches the MoBo basic specifications:
    - Supports four unbuffered DIMM of 2.5V DDR SDRAM.
    - Supports up to 4GB memory size without ECC.
    - Supports Dual channel DDR266/333/400/433/466/500/533 MHz and up.
Have you tried removing the old RAM and booting only with the new 1GB stick alone ?
Using mixed RAM, sometimes works in "Single mode" (see mobo manual), but is not recommended.
Running Dual-channel ( 2x512 or 1024x2 ) is preferable and gives best performance, but then you need two identical sticks.
You may also need to increase RAM voltage some in bios (example 2.7v) to achieve best stability.
If you have some RAM compability issues with 1GB sticks - 2x512 RAM stick would be safer and give better performance, unless your aiming for more then 2GB in total.
    You can also read about the RAM testreport here;
    http://www.msi.com.tw/html/products/mainboard/testreport_pdf/6728v2.0/memory.pdf
About "Dual In line Memory Module" - I think it´s the long version for older DIMM description.
Just like "Double Data Rate" is the long version for DDR RAM.
DDR means Double Data Rate RAM (in opposition to the SDRAM or Single Data Rate). DDR RAM bends the transfer rate for clock cycle. It can go quicker because it executes 2 instructions for cycle of clock of the RAM instead of an only instruction like it is the case of the SDR.

Sal! I have a big problem with my motherboard. i have a hdd WD2000JS (SATA II) but when connect to SATA port, in windows appear like udma 6. The chipset is an ICH5 whitout raid and i canot find any driver for sata. CAn somebody help me? THX.
    PS. Sorry for my english.

    Hi Everybody!
I'am a MSI 865G Neo2 PLS motherboard holder from Hungary. My problem: In my BIOS ( version 3.A ), in the Frequency/Voltage Control menu does not present the Performance Mode menu.    The Dynamic Overclocking menu is all right there on the top of Frequency/Voltage Control menu menu, but below this menu, is an another D.O.T menu with grey characters.
My question: Is this an MSI 865G chipset speciality?
Excuse me, but my english is only on basic level.

  • [865PE/G Neo2 Series] Can use Intel IAA v5.0.0.0132 on 865PE Neo2-PFISR board?

I am currently using Intel IAA v3.5.3 configured as RAID 0 on my two SATA HDD.
I've decided to re-format my HDD and reinstall Win XP SP2 and I am wondering whether I can use the latest version of the IAA driver (as shown on Intel website for 865 chipsets).  The official driver on MSI's site is only version 3.5.6.6282.
    Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

    Thanks Vango44.
My M/B have updated to version 3.A (latest as per webiste).  I will try to use the new Intel IAA driver v5.x.x when I re-installing my system.  I am a "sucker" for updating drivers, etc.  I just want to know whether there will be any incompatibility ie. have any one try later versions than MSI's official drivers.  Will post after my re-installation.  Wish me luck.....

  • [865PE/G Neo2 Series] Just got my first SATA drive.. need help booting up.. :(

    Hey guys
I just got my very first SATA drive. it's a Hitachi 160GB 7k250!
anyway, I wanted to set this new drive (partion 1 to be exact) as my PRIMARY or what I like to call SYSTEM drive.. this is where i store only my windows core files and program files..
My previous setup is that I have 2 PATA drives (Primary master and Secondary Master)  and 2 DVD drives (Primary Slave and Secondary Slave)..
Now with the introduction of this new SATA drive, well, i didnt know what to do..
I got as far as setting my BIOS to: (forgive me if the following isnt exact terms as in the bios)
    ATA = PATA Channel only
    keep SATA = YES
(and some settings i can't remember)
I was able to boot my computer up with the SATA HD partitions set at the next available drive letters.
Now here's the problem.. I currently have an Image of my C: (system) created with Acronis TrueImage 8, and i restored that to my SATA drive's FIRST partition...
The first partition is also formatted with the same file system NTFS and is set to primary..
From here, i honestly dont know what to do..
ofcourse I will have to set bios to boot the SATA drive first...
Also, since the System image (windows XP) is that of DRIVE C:  I have to somehow set the SATA drive to be HD0 (first channel)... playing around in my bios I have accomplised to have set my SATA drive as IDE channel 1 = Primary..  funny thing is the rest of the drives moved down starting at IDE Channel 3 and 4..
Still i went on to boot up.. but i was unsuccessfull.  I get a very quick blue screen (about 50 miliseconds) and then my computer shuts off and reboots..
I played around witht he settings and tried many things.. still get the quick BSOD and then reboot problem
GUys? What am i missing here?
I didnt know this SATA drive was gona get complicated.. i thought i'd be up and running by now.. :( ..
Please lend me some of your knowledge peoplez.. :D
    tea

    Hi Danny,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have followed your instructions to the dot.. now im getting as far as the WindowsXP Boot Screen... after an unusually long loading time, i get that BSOD flash which i really cant make out since the darn thing reboots right away.. :(
    I also tried
    Native Mode
    ATA Configuration - SATA only
(changing this to SATA, thinking you were mistaken since  am booting sata up.. but what do i know ei?)
    SATA Keep enabled - yes
    PATA Keep enabled - yes
    PATA channel selection - both
same results... a long boot screen loading time.. then a quick BSOD..
I alsto tried booting up in safemode.. the loading stops at agp440.sys  and reboots after a long pause at that part.
So now I switched back to your recommended settings, but this time setting my old hard drive to boot (PATA).
To my surprise im back to where i started (despite maintaining your suggested settings) thus i am replying to this post again..
also, i noticed that with your suggested settings, my SATA drive is on IDE channel 1.. and the rest on IDE channel 3 and 4.. but here in windows my old hard drive is still drive C:.. I was expecting my SATA drive to be Drive C this time.. could this be the problem here?
I mean the windows Image I restored is setup to work on drive C (first drive), although I removed all the drive, could it be that my SATA drive is still not on drive C?
    Please help. My brain's bleeding
    Tea

  • [865PE/G Neo2 Series] Slow SATA Performance

I have this system set up:
    MSI Neo-2 Platinum Edition
    P4 2.8E
    WD 40GB PATA
    SG 160GB SATA
    512 DDR400
    ASUS 9800 XT 256MB
I have my PATA drive as my primary drive and my SATA drive as a secondary one with 4 partitions. I have only one problem. My SATA drive aint performing as fast as used to be. I could copy 5GB of data from one partition on the SATA drive to another in about 5 minutes but now when I try it it takes 30minutes. Now this is a huge slowdown. I soved the problem once when I swicthed the cable from SATA 1 to SATA 2 but after a few weeks the problem started again. I try switching again but it dosent seem to work time time. I updated all the nessesary drivers etc... but still the laggy performance.
I have this set up in the BIOS
    Legacy Mode
    ATA Configuration - PATA only
    SATA Keep enabled - yes
    PATA channel selection - both
I hope someone can help me indentify and solve the problem.

I've solved the problem after reformatting my drive and reinstalling Windows XP on it. Now the controller drivers are set to UDMA6 and previously it was PIO which I suspect was the cause of he slowdown. I think Windows Update was the root of the problem as it might have installed some defective controller drivers. I have since turned it off.
Hopefully it wont happen again. Anyhow if it does, any way I can change it back to UDMA6?
Also cheers for all the help provided!

  • [865PE/G Neo2 Series] Cannot recognize ALL my drives.......

    Hi,
I have 5 Drives (3 HDs, 1 DVD Burner, and 1 Floppy drive). I have tried several combinations of Master/Slave and regardless how hard I try, I cannot get the BIOS to recognize more then 3 devices at any given time.....
Can you please tell me specifically ->
    1) What order I should place them on the IDE/SATA ribbons (ie. Master/Slave Primary/Secondary etc.)
    2) What jumper setting I should give each device.
    3) And what BIOS settings I need to change (espcially regarding S-ATA/P-ATA Master 0 Slave 1 etc.)
    Thank you very much.....
    My Drives are these :
    1) SATA HD (With OS on it)
    2) IDE HD
    3) IDE HD
    4) IDE DVD Drive
    5) Floppy

    1. First are the Drives having problems showing up in the BIOS or the OS?
    2. Connect the Floppy drive to the mother board using the Floppy Cable (the end of the FDD cable with the "Twist" should be connected to the FDD other end to the mother board)
    3. Hook the SATA drive up to the Pri SATA connector.
    4. Now you should have two more IDE HDDs. Hookup the Primary IDE HDD to the end of the IDE cable. (Jumper set to Master or Master w/Slave drive present). Hook the Secondary HDD to the middle connector on the same IDE as the Primary HDD (Jumper set to Slave). This IDE Cable is going to attached to the motherboard in the "Primary Channel"
    5. Now you should be able to plug in the CDROM, to the IDE cable That is hooked to the "Secondary Channel" slot on the motherboard (jumper set to Cable select or Master w/o a slave drive present)
Now the biggest thing for you to look for is: Are you using a "80 pin conductor IDE Cable"? Those old IDE Cable from old PCs can case lots of problems, along with lagging you system down substantially.
See if that stuff helps you out and get back with us.
    Heath

  • I have a big difference of free space between my 32GB iPod and 32GB iPad when sync'd with iTunes.

Why is there such a difference in my free space between my iPod Touch and my iPad (3) as indicated below:
                            iPod               iPad
    Songs               1,107               774
    Videos                   18                30
    Photos               6,230           4,720
    Apps                    111               113
    Capacity           28.4GB          28.0GB
    Avail (Free)       15.6GB            3.2GB
Is there anyway of recapturing free space on my iPad without removing songs, pictures, applications, etc. ??

How much space is Other using? You may be able to reduce.
How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.
