8700 will not start, red light flashes and hourglass comes on and off

I have an 8700g Blackberry phone and I mistakenly downloaded an application that is only supported by software version 4.0 or greater. ( my phone had software version 2.2? ) . I had to replace the battery today and when I put in the new battery, it tried to start up but the red light comes on and the hourglass flashes on and off but after two hours it will still not start up. What should I do?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Hmmm...that sounds very bad. But, let's try some things anyway...a total wipe and reload, using one of the following utilities:

  • Help! After interrupting an installation of a program downloaded from the internet on my mac in a reboot cycle will not start, I've already done the disk check and it's ok and I reinstalled the OS 10.8 Lion

After interrupting an installation of a program downloaded from the internet on my mac in a reboot cycle will not start, I've already done the disk check and it's ok and I reinstalled the OS 10.8 Lion

In this case, I think that there's something damaged that can't be fixed just reinstalling OS X.
If you don't want to lose files, you will have to create a second partition in the hard drive and install OS X there, so you will be able to recover everything you need. Then, you will have to erase the first partition and reinstall OS X. Follow these steps:
    1. Hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting to start into OS X Recovery, and open Disk Utility.
    2. You can follow the steps of this site to create a second partition > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html
    3. After creating the second partition, close Disk Utility and install OS X on the second partition.
    4. When the installation finishes, open Finder and, in the sidebar, you will see the other partition. Open it and recover the files you need.
    5. After doing that, repeat the step 1.
    6. Select “Macintosh HD” in the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the disk.
    7. Close Disk Utility and install OS X on the first partition.
After doing all of these steps (you will need a lot of time to do this), you can delete the second partition you created and add the size of this partition into the first one > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU4.html

  • HP desktop won't start, red light flashing and beeping, loud fan

Yesterday it was working just fine. I turned it off for the night and when I tried to turn it on this morning, a red light was flashing and beeping as well as the fan making a loud humming noise. I've read the the beeping and flashing means something. I didn't keep track of the number of flashes and beeps though. After the beeping and flashing I turned the computer off then back on. This time there was no red light, flashing, or beeping. Nothing appeared on the monitor either. After about 10-20 seconds of it being on, the fan started to hum really loudly again.
It's an HP Compaq dc7900. I've only had it for about 3 months and it was fine up until now.
    Any help? Thanks.

    Hi
I'v checked the specs for your HP and Acer machines and yes it will be fine to cross over RAM modules they are identical in speed and architecture . Please don't forget the last post about removing the sources of power before you go inside the PC to check RAM . Other thing is if your HP has more than one RAM module remove only one stick first and try to boot . If it still won't boot with that module take that one out and try to boot from the other before you look to swap over modules from Acer machine . Don't forget to re connect your monitor to see if you get display with one / two etc modules . Post me back your findings

  • Desktop Computer dc5750 shuts down and red light flashes on front of computer and won't start at all

I have a DC5750 HP Compaq Computer it is 6 years old, but I have 4GB Ram, Nvidia GS8400 Graphics Card, two one TB Hard Drives. While I tried to re-installed my operating systems it all of a sudden shut down not once but twice, I opened up the side of the computer and found that it was hotter then normal. I let it sit for a while thinking it maybe over heating after hooking it back up I turned it on again nothing happened except a beeping noise and red lights flashing on the front. Can this be fixed as money is an issue.
    Thanks

  • HT4972 my ipad will not start it has an apple in the center and no matter what I do it will not dispeasr, erase or open

MY ipad will not start. I can only see an apple in the center.

    Have you tried this?
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • My macbook pro will not  start up. I get the apple logo and the little  start up waiting avitar. I tried everything including starting with my back up drive and nothing happens.

My macbook pro mid 2012 will not start up. I was running bitdefender and when I went to see if it was done, I had the apple logo and the loading (winding circle) on the screen. I can not get out of this. I used my back up external drive and it did nothing. It did light up.

    samnleosgpa,
you may have faulty RAM. Are you able to boot into your MacBook Pro’s Apple Hardware Test (“AHT”)? If so, try running it to see if it can detect a problem. If you’re not able to run its AHT, and you’ve upgraded your MacBook Pro’s RAM before, try reïnstalling its original RAM and see if you can get past the “-6002F” error code. If you aren’t able to run its AHT, and you haven’t upgraded its RAM or you no longer have its original RAM, then I’d recommend that you make an appointment at your nearest Apple store to have them diagnose the problem.

  • MacBookPro 17" mid 2010 will not start, green light on power plug OK

I pushed the on button and the computer would not start. No sounds and no lights. My power cord showed the green light so I unplugged it and plugged it back in and tried to start the computer up again, did this several times. Finally the green light changed to orange/red and when I pused the on button it came on. When I shut it down it has 99% power showing. Next morning when I pushed the power button the same thing happened except I still can not get it started. 2 days later. I spoke with an Authorized Apple Service Provider this morning who walked me through taking the back off, unplugging the battery waiting 20 plus seconds plugging it back in, putting the back on and trying to start it. It did not start up? Before I have to ship this off can anyone help me with what I am dealing with?

    Hello MacBookProUserette,
I would be concerned too if my MacBook Pro would not power on.  I recommend following the steps in this article when experiencing an issue like this.  I recommend reviewing the full article, but I think steps 2 and 5 are particularly useful in the situation you described:

One of your add-ons might be the culprit. Try running Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If that solves the problem, see [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and possibly [[Troubleshooting plugins]]

  • Mac Pro will not boot, power light flashes once and then Mac switches off

One of our Mac Pro's will not boot. When pressing the power button the light will come on briefly and the Mac will just turn off again.
I have unplugged the power cable and held down the power button for 10 seconds but this did not help.
Any suggestions for me before I call up Apple?

Most indications from flashing power lights are telling you that there is not enough working memory to start up.

Just tried to upgrade to SnowLeopard with newly purchased software disc. iLife failed to download and when I tried to restart the computer, it will not do so--just get a grey screen with the lines going around and around. Any ideas about how to get it to start?

Same issue - nothing but a grey screen when the system tries to boot from the DVD

  • Airport Express will not start up (stays flashing amber)

    Hello All
I know this topic has been discussed before but none of the answers seem to fit my problem, here's my story,
Two months ago all was working fine when I notice the Airport base station would go from steady green to flashing amber. By the time i had checked all connections and scratchwed my head a bit, it would be back on steady green. This situation got worse uintil I was unable to get on the internet at all. I tried connecting directly to the cable modem via ethernet but couldn't. After what seemed like and eternity I discovered my modem was kaput! So a new modem was supplied by my service provider and LO I was back on the Net. Not qujite. It's OK via ethernet cable but the Airport refuses to start up and steadfastly remains on flashing amber. I've the soft reset and factory default rest and still get nowhere. At one time I got as far as being asked for my password in Airport Utility, but was denied access because my computer said the password was incorrect. This is itself incorrect because I have checked all the passwords on my computer and found I was using the correct one??
So to summarise I'm using the right password stored on the computer but the computer wont accept it. What do I do now?
Is it possible that the Airport Express has been damaged by the fault on the modem?

    Hi All
All fixed now, found a workround on iFelix.

  • Imac will not start up... wheels keep spinnin then shut off..

My imac does not start up. I tried resetting the PRAM, PNUM, all of that stuff and to no avail. What happens is the grey apple screen comes on, the wheels start spinning, then it just shuts off. I got the tiger disk in there and I press control/command s and it brings me to a blue screen that show my HD and the start up disk. I cannot select the start up disk for the life me. My mouse won't move over, nothing. When my mac was working, I couildnt delete some files that were in my trash and I went to my terminal and enter the command to start in safe mode, because I was having a problem manually starting in safe mode. But the problem is I think I have/got some sort of virus that is attacking my safe mode, because safe mode never ever kicked on. So now my computer is simply gone...HELP>>>>>>>
    Doobs

First off, you have the keystrokes wrong.
Command-S will startup in single user mode, and can be used to repair the directory if the machine has enough free hard disk space. See my FAQ*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/directoryfaq.html
Shift key will startup safe mode so you can startup without any drivers running.
    Control-Command-S will do nothing.
Option can be used to startup the optical disc with the startup manager:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106178
There are no Mac OS X viruses out there. Is your data backed up?
Have you checked your free space*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/diskfull.html
And has the clock battery been replaced in the last 4 years?
PNUM is not an acronym dealing with Macs, though PRAM is.

  • My computer will not let me download firefox, a screen comes up and says my security settings won't allow it.

This is a lap top. Yesterday nor today we could not display firefox and that is how I would normally logon to the computer. Firefox kept coming up and saying it could not display page. Today I uninstalled firfox and tryed to re-install, now a box comes up and says my security settings won't allow it.

Make sure that you do not run the file directly, but save the file to the Desktop and start the installation via a double-click.<br />
You may need to unlock the file via the right-click context menu: Properties > Security

  • Emac will not turn on (lights flash)

today when i turned my eMac on it was fine then it said to shut off so i did. When i turnedi t back on the little white light just flashed
    eMac G4 1.25ghz 512 mb of ram   Mac OS X (10.0.x)

    Hi patty b,
A couple of questions to clarify where you stand....
    1. I notice that by your computer specs in your topic that you are running 10.0.x Is this correct? It just struck me as odd that an eMac 1.25 Ghz G4 would have 10.0.x installed and not at least 10.2. Jaguar. This can matter when troubleshooting your problem.
    2. By your topic it sounds as if you experienced a Kernel Panic when "it said to shut off". When you tried to turn it back on you say that the "littel white light just flashed". Can you clarify? I assume you are referring to the power light on the front of the eMac? Would you say the the light is flashing or pulsing? I ask this as a pulsing light is indicative of the computer sleeping. You topic sounds more as if the light is rapidly flashing?
    3. Can you let us know if you had (near the time of this occurence) changed anything in regards to your computer or system software? As well as you can remember can you remember what you were doing with the computer at the time? Such as having multiple/many applications open at one time.
All this info will build a better picture of the state of your computer then/now to help better troubleshoot.
    best,
    littleshoulders [:-)
