8703e Comaptibility with Bluetooth GPS unit

Will Delorme's Earthmate BT-20 GPS unit connect to the Mini-B USB port of my Blackberry 8703e and allow me to run Nav4All?
If not, can you recommend a good GPS unit that will?

Bleutooth (BT) is like low power wifi. To use a BT receiver with the iPod y will have to find a app that is compatible with the iPod and the receiver. I do not know if there is one. Users have reported problems with using receivers with iOS 6. See:

  • Mac Air use with Bluetooth GPS receiver.

GlobalSat BT-821 appears to meet the specs and claims to work with Apple but online forums are littered with compatibility problems, though most appear to be iPad and iPhone specific. Mac Air doesn't get a mention.
Anyone got any advice on choice of receiver?

ExtGPS does the job. Should be operable with most mapping applications.
Works even with two E90's, other one running Nokia Maps and using other as external GPS over Bluetooth

  • WIFI Bluetooth GPS

There are several Bluetooth GPS units available for the IPhone and Ipod, will these work with the Ipad WIFI? If not, then why not. Is there anything special that would need to be done to get them to work? I have a mifi verizon that allows web access while traveling ( works great!) but while it has a built-in GPS, the MIFI GPS does not connect with the Ipad, hence the need for an external GPS receiver.
    Thanks

I doubt it will works since the bluetooth profiles supported by the iPad is limited. See
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647
However, it may be supported under the PAN profile.

  • Non support of external Bluetooth GPS--- WHY???

I have an iPad2 wifi I want to use as a moving map system for flying.  Apple does not support external Bluetooth GPS units, .... WHY????
I don't want to have to buy another BT GPS, as I already have 4 that SHOULD work.  Short of Hacking the iPad, there is only one BT GPS that works.
I'm dissapointed, and may have to return this iPad if I can't get it to work with what I already have.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks.
    Dave

Chris,  None of my BT GPS units below will link to the iPad.  I have had no problems at all with linking them to any other PDA, Laptop, or Computer that I've tried.  (OK, all PC's)
The GNS 5870 will connect to Apple only.
The Dual XGPS 150 has a switch to change from Apple to all others.
I don't want to have to buy another BT GPS just for this iPad.

I have a solar logger GPS and i can connect to it through the phone but cannot get anything to work with it.
    thanks

You can delete the google maps feature from the device if you don't require it. On the application screen, tap on the top left corner of the screen and select delete. Locate and delete Google maps. You will find the Google maps icon on the application screen although you delete it as it is embeded on the ROM. However this is just the icon and will not consume any memory or will not slow down the device.

I looked at the same sight for that and it does not say that.  This is the first time I have posted a question, you don't have to be mean about it.  I am trying to get this to work for a good cause.
It may be the best source of assistance is the manufacturer of the device. I suspect you will need a specific app for the iPhone to get it to work, but the site is rather ambiguous about that.

  • Windows 8 Pro configure Bluetooth GPS to work with Windows 8 internal maps programs

How do you setup/configure a bluetooth GPS to work with windows 8 internal map programs.  So far i,ve been able to connect the GPS device to the tablet, but it only works with Microsoft legacy map programs using the COM ports ie 3,7.

    Hi,
The devices used in Windows Store Apps must have special drivers insintalled.

  • Pairing a non-3G IPad with a bluetooth GPS

Can a non-3G IPad be paired with a bluetooth GPS? I have loaded MotionX HD and would like to use the mapping functionality with a bluetooth GPS. Anyone know if this is possible.

No, bluetooth on the iPad only currently supports headsets and keyboards.

  • See Bluetooth GPS with Terminal?

I have a Bluetooth GPS that is paired to my MacBook Pro with a Bluetooth serial port and I would like to use a low level progam to make sure I can see the NMEA output.  I tried using Terminal and typing /dev/tty.iBT-GPS-SPPslave The "iBT-GPS-SPPslave" is the serial port name.  I get a "permission denied" response.
Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I could do?
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks, Rich
Of course a dedicated satnav device will be better, but I am trying to compare N-series phones versus Windows Mobile handhelds, which are also widely used for in-car usage instead of a dedicated satnav device.
Some of my colleagues use a Windows Mobile handheld phone a 400+ processor and they are quite happy with in-car navigation with voice hinting.
Now I think, should I also purchase a Windows Mobile phone with GPS onboard (and I am quite sure that GPS functionality will satisfy me).
The opposite variant is to buy an N-series phone like N73, which I like very much (and I am sure about its phone functionality).
May I ask you what kind of disadvantages you faced using N73+GPS in car for navigation with voice hints? Was the map rendered too slow with big delays? What exactly was wrong?
    Many thanks,
    Alexey

  • Recommendations for Bluetooth GPS for N95

Has anyone got any recommendations for a Bluetooth GPS receiver (to improve the dire performance of the inbuilt one) available in UK?

I bought the Nokia N95 8GB for its 'all in one device 'convenience.
I bought an external Bluetooth GPS, not because the inernal was no good, or not accurate enough but because I did not want to destroy it with vibration and rain, strapped to the handlebars of my Yamaha XT225
I want to create tracks (kml?)that map out the roads, lanes and footpaths of Cebu, Philippines using my Motorbike, in places the car could not go.
I decided on the Wintec G-Rays2 (WBT-201). This is more than just a Bluetooth GPS, as it has a 'logger' function also (collecting up to 131,072 waypoints). It is also much quicker at acquisition than the internal GPS (34 seconds or if data is still in memory 4-33 sec).
Even in a car, the WBT-201 G-Rays2 unit, can be positioned on the dash, whilst from anywhere in the car, the N95 receives the NMEA0183 format data stream giving position, speed, altitude and time, together with estimated error and satellite status.
'Sports Tracker' works very well with this for receiving the data stream 'live'. Once 'captured' it has many 'export' formats of the captured information. Test 'Tracks' of the same 'Route' using the internal GPS and another time the WBT-201, show the external unit to be more accurate. Having said that, the internal GPS is actually pretty good at capturing the same track.
The only real 'negative' of the WBT-201, is the 'TMXTool' software (for configuring the settings, on the go, rather than connected to a PC), is for PPC, and not S60. However the 'TimeMachineX' software is OK for 'Windows' use.

  • HT204387 Problem with Bluetooth connection.

While I can pair my LG 290c cell phone with my iPad (getting a confirmation number on both screens), when I attempt to make the connection, a "LG290c not supported" message comes up.  Not sure why it pairs in the first place if not supported.
Can anyone offer suggestions or help?

Thank you for the prompt response and the information provided.
I went to the web site you provided and reviewed the "supported Bluetooth profiles" listed there.
In looking at  the one marked HFP 1.6, it seems to be stating that if I interject a Bluetooth-capable headset between the iPad and the telephone, I might not only get all three devices to "pair," but perhaps even be able to get all three connected to one another.
Have you--or any other reader--had any experience with such a set-up?
I have a Magellan GPS unit in my car, and I've not only been able to pair the phone and the GPS unit, but now calls made to the telephone can actually be heard on the GPS unit (creating not just a "hands-free" environment," but one where I can actually hear the caller much better than I could with any annoying earpiece or "bud," etc.  I thought if I could do the same with the iPad, I'd be able to enjoy the same convenience while away from the car.

  • E71x and external bluetooth GPS

Is there any way to have the E71x use an external bluetooth GPS. In the N95 you the option was built in, but I can not seem to find in on the E71x. The internal gps is slow to find itself and loses signal easily.

TomTom is the best application for use with an external GPS unit.
