870A Fuzion second pcie slot

Can a pcie x1 sound work in second pcie x16 slot?
I have an asus xonar dx that I cannot seem to get to work in that slot. I have to use pcie x1 slot right next to mu gfx card, which interferes a bit with the air flow.  If there is a way to use the other x16 slot for this purpose, would be great.  If not......oh well no biggie.
any help appreciated.  thanks

Well, Svet,  as I stated in original post, I already tried. No luck.....I was wondering if there is something specific to the mobo I needed to do.  It is said that you SHOULD be able to do this with ANY pcie x16 slot, on any motherboard, but maybe not with this board because of  Lucidlogix hydra chip. I don't know.....maybe I will contact MSI and see if this is the case.  Thanks for the prompt response though.  Can you keep me posted if you find out before I do?  That would be cool, and thanks in advance.

  • Second PCIE Slot

    Hey everyone..
I was wondering if I had a single GTX 260 GPU and I wanted to put it into the second slot, would it run at x16? The motherboard is a GD70

The 2nd PCIe slot is X8 slot(this is actually slot3).  The 3rd blue slot(PCIe-4, but the 5th slot down) is X16 and you should be able to use that.  Do remember, this board does NOT support SLI. This board only supports Crossfire.  So, if you ever plan on using multiple GPU cards, you will need to use ATI.

  • Satellite A500-1GH What is a empty PCI slot with JGPS sign

Almost a year ago I bought a Toshiba Satellite A500-1GH.
I cannot say that I am not satisfied with the computer or the company.
The problems that I had was the Display problem (stop working for seconds) which was software problem (updated nVidia 8.16.11.8875) and with the HDD which stop working but company changed with a new one.
Now I wanted to upgrade the second memory module from 2GB to 4GB so I can have 2x4GB, but when I opened the memory compartment, I saw next to them an empty PCI slot with the sign JGPS.
Does anybody know what that is?
And if yes what is the part number?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi mate
As far as I know JGPS is an GPS connector.
Possibly this connector would be shared by 3G miniPCI card.
As far as I know this Satellite A500-1GH has not been equipped with an 3G module and therefore the miniPCI slot is empty.
    > And if yes what is the part number?
I don't know the part number but all parts can be ordered from local Toshiba ASP

  • Upgrading Mac Pro (2009) from to NVIDIA Quadro 4000, what PCI slot to use ?

I am upgrading my Mac Pro (2009) from the Nvidia GT120 (stock) to the Nvidia Quadro 4000 for Mac. The GT120 was installed in the PCI Slot #1 and I would like to install the Nvidia Quadro 4000 in the PCI Slot #2, that way the Fan in the Graphics Card (Quadro 4000) will have better air circulation, is there any limitation or recommendation regarding the PCI slot to use ?, thanks a lot

I have an early Mac Pro 3,1.
The user manual I downloaded states:
    Slot 1 PCI Express 2.0 16-lane
    Slot 2 PCI Express 2.0 16-lane
So I'm assuming that means both slots 1 and 2 are the same and it doesn't matter which of my two graphics cards go in which slots?
Also, my second graphics card is a Quadro 4000 which is for Adobe Applications that use the CUDA engine. I don't have any monitors hooked up to it.

  • DIMM1 now read as PCI Slot?

    Hey guys, Happy Holidays!
My Board/System is actually running great right now, so this is more of an observation/warning than urgent cry for help. I recently changed from Corsair TWINX 3700 (434) DDR SDRAM to Corsair XMS 3500C2 (417) DDR SDRAM. The resukt was a terrific increase in performance, stability, and especially OC (210@1:1 to 223@1:1  PAT Turbo). However I was flying so high cuz of the big OC that I got greedt and tried to boot with 220FSB and use Clock Generator to get more. It worked! Until I hit 227FSB where I had a hard  crash. This probably is wehat killed my Promise RAID ), and also made DIMM1 no longer readable as full! In fact it reads in Sandra, AIDA32, SMBIOS viewers, Windows info etc. as a PCI Slot. I moved my RAM to DIMMs 2&4 and all is good (I hope).  Any thoughts, comments, jokes at my expense ? It may just be the SMBIOS being the way it sometimes is but, food for thought...

Actually, all of my various utilities, including the Tool House USA diagnostic suite, seem to have reestablished accurate reads of the MOBO. SANDRA 2004 however, still claims that I have DIMM4 occupied w/ 512 DIMM3 empty DIMM2 occupied w/ 512 and PCI Slot empty.
Could I have actually screwed up so badly that I shifted signals or current signatures (these are just terms I am using in an attempt to sound competent).  :hypecrite: I gotta tell you man, at this point even if the bloody thing is planning on blowing u and taking me with it, I still do not want to give up on it! I shudder to think of the possibility of starting over w/ another board. And even though I am quite fond enough of my fast little "Neo", I do not think I could justify replacing it with a second. There just seem to be MOBOS which are better buys considering we are now in possession of all the facts we did not have access to 6 months ago. By the way, my system is absolutely flyin, and far from displaying any signs of instability, it has actually stopped the little problems it had untill the Promise RAID went kaput!. My UPS no longer gives config errors in the Event Viewer. My games, 321 X-Copy, IE6, and backup programs are just ripping along like never before. One other note (I thought I had stated this earlier, sorry) I had Norton Ghost 2003 installed for use w/ an IDE Drive which I would fill with important data, backups etc.. In other words, even though the Symantec people told me it was safe, I was just too suspicious of the imaging process with a striped array. I did use it once a while back (on the Intel ICH5R RAID, never Promise) before I had gained anything even remotely related to a clue but everything worked fine, and I have since even established  the DVD-RW image integrity.
Sorry dude, I cannot seem to make my posts concise. I hope you understand that I am not yet totally comfortable with either the subject matter, nor the medium  Which is why this post is somewhat redundant in light of your last post.  Thanks for your time, and the positive news.

  • Try new pci slot --- crash wind

I was having issues with the driver installer not detecting my SB2 Platinum in windows XP. I tried moving the card to a new slot and now when I boot windows it only works for about 90 seconds before I get a hard crash, as if I had pressed the reset button, every time I boot. The card works fine in ubuntu linux. Something is going on in windows after moving the card to a new PCI slot, as reccomended to remedy the driver installer issue.
I have tried both the CD installer and the downloaded drivers and there is no way to get either to work. The card worked for years in this computer and now it won't play nice with windows after a fresh install.
    Any Ideas?

I am building a new system and may because of the build have to use the Lower PCI-E slot for the one GPU board the system will have.
will either slot operate at 16x regardless of which slot I use? or am i taking a performance hot by using only the second slot? Thanks in advance

Usually not. The lane configuration is generally always the primary 16X by itself, the other slot is 8X regardless if the primary slot is not used. Not that big a performance hit anyway with the 8X.

  • Does changing pci slots reassign irqs?

i've tried sticking my soundcard in every pci slot on my nforce mobo but the irq never changes. i thought it was supposed to. is this something to do with the mobo?
in the bios, there is an option to 'reserve' irqs. what's that about?
    thx

    Quote
    hi,
tried reinstall and managed to get up to 22 irqs (yay!), but pci slots don't correspond to the ones you listed. my graphics card agp is on irq 5 and sharing with something else. changing soundcard from pci 5 to 4 still doesn't change irq, it sits on 11.
what bios settings did you use? my configuration during reinstall:
    high performance defaults
    apic = enabled, 1.4
pnp os = no (maybe have to make this 'yes'?)
    reset escd = no
    escd = auto
    windows xp pro
    thanks
Something is definitely wrong with the install.  Once APIC has been enabled no PCI device (other than system management) is supposed to use IRQ's below 15.  Those IRQ's are left alone for "legacy" purposes.
BIOS 2.6 (2.4 is an option assuming you don't mind the PCI performance hit).

The results do vary some.  My current install has chosen some different values than the one pictured above, but nothing radical.

  • 870a fuzion atx 6pin power connection

Can anyone help me with my new 870a fuzion board im setting up. It has the 8 pin cpu atx which plugs in no problems. But than it also has this 6 pin atx connection to the motherboard it says for the videocard. My power supply has no 6 pin atx connection (does a 6 pin mobo connection even exist). Im assuming i just connect one off my PCI-E 6 pins to the motherboard it fits in no drama. Or do i put my other 8 pin atx connection in an leave 2 pins hanging out. Is this correct first pc ive built in a few years.

  • Failure with second PCI vga card..

I recently found a monitor in my backyard, and decided i'd try a multimonitor setup.
So i installed an old ati 3d rage pro card in a pci slot. Booting up, nothing appared on the other screen, but the card showed up in device manager without any problems. Initializing pci card first, resulted in both screens turning on, but system hang at log in. I use w2k.
So i upped to bios 2.6, same thing happens, and my w2k installation goes corrupt. So i install w2k again and just install the drivers for the onboard vga, and hey it works! But only when i initialize pci first.
But when i install the rest of the drivers for the mainboard it all fucks up again and hangs after i press log on... Any clues? I used the latest msi nforce drivers, i have removed all other cards from the pc.
    tnx

if you mean power supply by ps, it's a brandless tower.
I have 1x256 meg PC2100 ram, not sure about brand here either. Maybe it'd help with a second chip?
